Iphone Album messed up

Ever since the latest iphone patch, All sings in folders that I drag and drop into my iphone are displayed incorrectly.
Rather than having the single album with all the songs inside it. It creates a new album folder for every song inside the folder. So lets say there are 22 songs in the album, it will make 22 albums, each with 22 songs in it. So I will have 484 songs on my Iphone. 22 songs copied for each album, made 22 times. its really messed, and this problem didn't occur before.
Has anyone had any problems like this, or know anything i could do to fix it?

I've only just bought into the iPhone but as I understand it the recent patch changed the behaviour with respect to the Album Artist & Part Of A Compilation fields. In particular it seems that the Compilation flag is now ignored on the iPhone and the Album Artist field that might preciously have been optional may now be required if different tracks are by different artists.

i recently got a new hard drive for my macbook, so all my photos on iphoto are gone. i still have the photos on my iphone, but they're in their own album, and everytime i try to sync my iphone to iphoto, i can only access the photos in the camera roll. is there a way to trasnfer the photos in the iphone albums to iphoto?

Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on your iPhone as part of the iTunes sync/transfer process - the original resolution of these photos are reduced on your iPhone. This is why Apple does not support transferring these photos in the opposite direction.
Photos on your computer's hard drive should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data. Did you lose all important data on your computer's hard drive, or just your iPhoto library?
There are 3rd party paid utilities that provide for transferring this data in the opposite direction, but such utilities are not supported by Apple and the original resolution of these photos is lost.

Now that you mention it, my parents don't need to see my playlists, either. Hadn't thought of that.
I accidently stumbled on an "ad-hoc" workaround that helped me. The downside is that it only works with smart playlists so it may or may not work for you. But here it is anyway:
Smart playlists will not be uploaded to the cloud if they refeence another playlist on the cloud. So I created a "catch-all" smart playlist and added a reference to that in all the smart playlists I don't want to share.
I also noticed that playlists with more than just music are not uploaded. You could add a short video or something to the playlists that are only for the iMac. This obviously won't work if your daughter needs them on her iDevice.
I know these aren't good solutions, but I hope they help someone.

The ! shows up because the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window has lost the connection to the file it represents. There are two main reasons why this occurs: database coruption and/or User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder - in this case your Party Library.
1. Hold down the abbpe and option keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild the database.
2. Have you renamed, altered or moved anything in the Party Library Folder?
As for the mulitple versions of photos: Your Party Library (or any Library) is arranged as follows:
In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command - very useful if you don't like the changes you've made.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
So each version of the Image has a distinct role to play. To distinguish them in a Spotlight search, use file size - the tiny ones are your thumbnails etc.
Your Camera names the files. Some Cameras have a setting which allows them to sequentially number across cards. You can also use titling in the iPhoto Window to distinguish them (Photos -> Batch Change) and some people copy the pics onto their machines first, rename them with a batch renamer and then import them into iPhoto.
The book is simply a virtual album of photos and is part of the library6.iPhoto file.
As to your plan of moving and patching things up... It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss. SO try rebuild the database first.

You should be able to delete the photos by syncing with iTunes. Either remove the checkmark beside "Sync Photos From" on the photos page of iTunes or change the selection of photos to be synced. Each time you sync it is supposed to set the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings/selection in iTunes.

Importing from iPhone a mess

I like to keep things easy and organized, but since Photos it's not really possible anymore. I don't want complete iCloud integration, because I have many, many images and don't want to pay for the extra storage.
I just want to hook up my iPhone from time to time and import to Photos. When the photos are imported, I want them removed from my iPhone film roll. Then I organize the images in albums. That's it.
What happens now is that part is already imported through iCloud (I've turned it off, but still...), the rest is imported when the iPhone is connected. I get doubles, the filters I've used on the iPhone are gone, the images are a mess (not sorted by date in the 'All Photos' album). After the import I have to manually remove the images on my iPhone that were already imported through iCloud.
All in all not a very pleasant experience.

Dear All, I'm just updating my last post because I have been trying everything to access the jpegs with no luck and when connecting to iTunes today found it "unable to verify" my iPhone. I was suitably upset by this and looked for advice in all the usual places. I then decided to try one last thing. I have a 4 port hub in my express card slot which the iphone was plugged into. (Simply because I just haven't enough ports) I unplugged it from there, disonnected an external HD and plugged in the iphone. Not only could it suddenely ' recognize ' the jpeg format but iTunes was able to verify it too. It now works although I am wary of saying problem solved because it did work before even when plugged into the expr card hub but here's hoping. The problem I have now is finding a multi port hub that will work with external HD's and other devices ! Anyway I hope this might just help someone else?

IOS 8 update on iphone 5 - messed up apps

After installing 8.on my iPhone 5, some of my apps are really messed up. In-app purchases have disappeared and attempts to restore purchases or even just buy them again are unsuccessful...this same app also now won't save to camera roll even though it appears to. Another app is buggy beyond belief, I've contacted one of the developers and they've fixed their issues but the other developers haven't responded. What's going on? Should I delete and repurchase the buggy apps? Will there be fixes in the near future or are the affected apps going to remain inoperative?

II'm sorry, I thought I'd updated to 8.02 but I checked and I only have 8.0. I'm afraid to update to 8.02 as I've been reading both good and bad about it, like it may fix my app problem but screw up my Wi-fi. I don't know what to do. I'm between a rock and a hard place.

IPhone Album Art Question

Okay, I've got music playing on iPhone 4. Phone goes into sleep mode (screen goes off, music still playing) When I "awaken" the phone (music still playing) with some songs the song's album art appears on the 'slide to unlock' screen. But for others my regular wallpaper is displayed. I'd rather have the album art show up all the time when playing. I have tried to find differences between these song files but can not. I have added art to all song files but can not change this behavior. I have tried letting iTunes add the album art, but this does not change the behavior either. ALL songs show their album art when the iPhone is "awake." It's only when "awakening" the iPhone while songs are playing that art displays for some and not for others. Does this make sense to anyone?

Part of that 157.5mb is probably for files that iPod needs to operate. I removed the album art and other was still about 76mb on my iPod.
Also, I noticed that if I added a video, the size of other went up about 1-2mb. So there are probably some support files that get created. Also, Games would be in the Other category, as well as Contacts. Audiobooks are probably in the Audio category.
Even if you never used the iPod as a hard drive, you may want to +Enable disk use+ and open it up in a Windows Explorer window.
Ultimately, you can use the Restore button in iTunes to erase the iPod and then re-sync it.

Syncing iPhoto and iPhone Albums

When I create a photo album in iPhoto, it shows up in my iPhone after I sync, but when I create an album with Photos on my iPhone, it does not show up in iPhoto after I sync. Is this how it's supposed to work?

If you don't want your photo albums from iPhoto to sync to your iPhone you need to turn off the photo sync option for your iPhone in iTunes.
Open iTunes with iPhone connected usb -> click on iPhone (at left column) -> click on photo tabs (main screen far right) -> deselect "sync photos from"
Now, if you want certain photos to show your friends you can create a folder and then select it from the above process.

Compilation (17 artists) shows up 17x on iPhone/ Album view. How do i get it to only once?

I have transferred (drag+drop) a compilation with 17 artists from an USB stick straight to the Iphone without the putting it into the library. All tags have been taken over fine in Itunes. however when i look into the album view in the iPhone music app, the album shows up 17x.
I have tried to play around with the settings but it doesnt seem to work. This is quite frustrating as i have a lot of compilations that i would like to put on my iphone.
Please let me know what i have to change in the "get info" options in order for this to resolve. Do i have to change anything in the settings on the Iphone itself?

ugh. i got it. apparently the iphone doesnt recognise changes to file info if the track is already on the iphone. You have to edit in the itunes library and then transfer....

Iphone Album artwork scrambled, ok in itunes

The artwork on my iphone 3G recently became scrambled. It shows entirely different photos for albums that were ok before that. On itunes the artwork is ok, but no about of resetting or resynching is helping.
Any advice?

I was having this problem on both my iPod Touch and brand new iPhone 4G. Specifically, a few albums showed the incorrect artwork, but many showed no artwork at all for individual songs, even though when the album list was displayed the correct artwork thumbnail appeared.
This advise TOTALLY RESOLVED the problem for me. This had stumped Apple phone tech support and the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store. Thanks a million!

Best way to recreate iPhone album in iPhoto?

My wife's 4S (running IOS6) has about 500 photos in the camera roll. These have over time been synced to iPhoto but she kept them on her phone also. We'd like to organize them in an iPhoto album so it can be managed from the Mac and get them out of her camera roll.
I selected them all and made an album on the phone, but I don't think that helps. My understanding is that I cannot sync this album structure out of the phone. What's my best recourse here, short of manually selecting all of the same photos in iPhoto? I suppose I could re-import them all, make an album out the 'last import' album, and then erase the duplicates but I'd have to erase the originals which would then take them out of other albums that they are in. Maybe re-import, find duplicates, select the earlier ones into album, then erase the later ones? Sounds a bit scary. Both are somewhat a pain since there is no 'find duplicates' feature in iPhoto; I'd have to do it manually or with some add-on software.

Couldn't disagree more with the FM transmitter being the best option. Used to have a car without a cassette player and went through every variation of FM transmitter to get my ipod to play through the car speakers. Took MANY a road trip and a) the sound quality isn't as good as with the cassette adapter and b) when driving, you constantly have to try to find empty bandwidth on the transmitter. In LA, forget about it; there's NOTHING you can tune it to. Originally, I used it on the East Coast, and it was difficult there as well. In the Midwest, it was just ok. In the UK, I don't know.
But, there is a variation of quality among the cassette adapters as well, albeit even the worst ones sounding better than the best FM transmitter. I've gone through quite a few of them as well, and have found the Sony adapter to work the best for me. The Belkin is supposedly pretty good too, but it doesn't play in all decks.
Incidentally, for both the FM transmitter and the tape adapter, make sure you're iphone volume is in the correct place -- not full volume.
Having said that, I went out and bought a DICE system ($150) which was very easy to install (you wire it with your cd player and power source) which charges my iphone and plays my music at whatever quality I encoded it to. And I don't have to fuss with my volume control on the ipod/iphone itself. THIS is the best option for those who don't have the aux jack, but it doesn't meet your expense criterion.

IPhone Album Art

I'm currently using iTunes 7.6.0.29 with a 1.1.3 iPhone. I've got a lot of lesser known albums that iTunes can't grab album art for, so I did the get info -> artwork fix to manually set the album art for all those albums.
Everything looks fine in iTunes, zero albums missing art, but all of the old problem albums I had in iTunes still don't show album art in my iPhone. I've already tried deleting the offending albums in the iPhone and resyncing, but they still don't show the album art that I see in iTunes.
Is there any way to manually select album art on an iPhone?

Having this problem as well. Surprised to see there's a huge number of threads on this problem, all between the end of January and now.
The killer is, this is art that would copy perfectly well to my iPhone since *release day* last year. But with a recent full restore (thanks to the third major AT&T screw-up since... release day), looks like the art refuses to come over.
Bizarre, since nothing changed after the restore - same firmware I had before the restore!
This is killing me. Between the major AT&T issues (the likes of which I never had on 7+ years of Sprint/Helio) and the minor annoyances like this one (one of many functional issues), I routinely want to throw my iPhone against the wall. Which *****, because I love it overall. But when your phone + music player keeps having issues BEING a phone, OR a music player, it's time to look at other carriers/hardware until the kinks are worked out.
Not going to bother calling Apple, it'll be "did you restore?"

Sync iphone albums to iphoto

Hi, I have a friend who has an iPhone 4 and she lost her computer hard drive. Once it was repaired she needs to sync back her photos from her iphone to iPhoto which are in other albums different from camera roll. What could we do to have them back? I tried Picsaid but it does not work with iOS 6. She has a macbook pro.
