IPhone Already Associated With an Apple ID
Dear all,
I recently bought a used iPhone 4S via ebay. Backed up my old iPhone 4 and installed the Backup on the new 4S. Everything fine but when I turn on my iTunes Match switch I get the following error message:
"This Device Is Already Associated With an Apple ID"
"If you turn on Automatic Downloads with your Apple ID, you cannot auto-download or download past purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days."
Now I do not really understand the meaning of this message: Which IDs are meant in this message?
Can this problem be solved by the ebay seller by disconnecting his device in his iTunes? What will happen with which Apple ID if I click on the "Transfer" button?
Will his iTunes Match account be deactivated for 90 days or mine? ???

This message just indicates that, once you sign into your Apple ID, you won't be able to sign into a different Apple ID on this same device for 90 days. If you intend only on using your Apple ID, there should be no noticeable effect.

i have an iphone 4s i signed out of my itunes on the devise and my friend signed herself into ituned but i signed her out an myself back in but my purchased songs and tones cannot download. it gives me a message of:this device is already associated with an apple id. this device can be used with another apple id in 82 days! is there anyway for me to fix this or override something. im freaking out!!
Sorry: once a device has been authorised for a particular iTunes account you can't change it to another until 90 days have passed. This is to prevent people cirumventing the restrictions of purchases to one account from consteantly swopping between accounts. You will have to wait for the 82 remaining days, and there is no workaround.

Family Sharing and Device is already associated with an Apple ID
I apparently have no idea how Family Sharing works.
I have had an Apple ID for as long as they have existed. As my daughters grew up and got iPods and iPhones, they always use this ID for iTunes. Now with Family Share we thought they could each have their own Apple IDs and keep the music we already purchased, purchase music in the future and I would pay for it.
So the very first time my daughter tries to purchase a song she does so with a gift card. She redeemed the card under her account and purchased $15 worth of music. However, it won't let her download the music she purchased. An alert pops up and says:
"This Device is Already Associated with an Apple ID: If you download past purchases with your Apple ID, you cannot auto-download or download past-purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days. CANCEL or TRANSFER"
All she is trying to do is download the songs she purchased with her gift card and she is getting this notice. The songs did not download when she purchased them, I don't know why.Not 100% on this but it sounds similar to what i had. My wife and i shared an apple id for the same reason. When we went to family sharing we had to create a new id for her.
Your future is with family sharing for sure, it is great once established and perfect for you...so i would go ahead and click the transfer. all your old purchases (which i assume is under your id) will be available under your heading and can be re-downloaded.
the 90 day warning applies to the old apple id (i.e. yours) with that device only. it will now be associated with your daughters.
you may also want to go to https://supportprofile.apple.com/ and change any registered products associated with your id -

I have a new Iphone, a 4s, that I was given to me by my employer. It replaces my old one, my personal phone, that I gave to my daughter. Everything worked well until I turned ITunes Match "OFF" because I was traveling overseas and didn't want to download songs using expensive data connections. When I turned it back on, I saw: "This device is already associated with an Apple ID." Then it tells me that I have to wait 90 days to download my library. I am now on Day 64 and counting...but I want to see if I have done something wrong that is making this happen, and rectify it.
Any suggestions?

So I have 2 store accounts, as I travel and live between two countries. I have been using this accounts for at least 6 years. I regularly swap between the two, depending on which country I am in. I have never encountered any issues, I buy, rent and download regularly.
For the first time ever, when I logged out of one store and into the other store (using the sign in /out option from the dropdown menu) and clicked 'download' for the tv episode I had available (from a season pass), a popup box appeared with the 'This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.'
- If you download past purchases with your Apple ID, you cannot auto-download or download past purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days.
The option is to 'Cancel' or 'Transfer'
I have encountered this problem on my iPad and iPhone previously, but never on my computer. I haven't done anything different either.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Has Apple finally decided to stop people having multiple store accounts?
I appreciate any help.The potential to associate a computer to an account for 90 days has been possible for a number of years like it has been on iOS devices, and can happen if you use iTunes Match, automatic downloads or redownload past purchases (though, based on some posts I've seen, it doesn't always seem to happen) - I believe it's an attempt to try and stop people logging into their account on other people's computers or devices and redownloading/sharing their content, not to stop people having multiple accounts.
It shouldn't stop you buying new content on the account, just doing any of the above three things. If you want to do one of them on your other account then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will remove the current association, but if you then do one of them on the other account then you are likely to start a 90 association to that account instead : Manage your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support. -
Can't download iCloud content - this computer is already associated with an Apple ID

I purchased the movie Dredd from the iTunes store today, using my Apple ID on my MacBook Air, and it downloaded to that machine fine.
When I then go to "Purchased" on the iTunes store using a different computer (my older MacBook Pro), and try and download the movie from iCloud,
I get a baffling and really unhelpful error, as follows:
"This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.
You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 87 days."
What on earth does this mean? And why am I even seeing it?
I am logged in to iTunes on both machine using the same Apple ID. Things I've tried (to no avail):
1. Quitting and re-starting iTunes on both machines.
2. Signing out and then signing backin on both instances of iTunes
3. Deathorising all my machines and single re-authorising them
I am really ****** off about this. Isn't the whole point of iCould that your content is available on all your devices? So why - for the first time ever - do I get this pointless, unhelpful, baffling error?

Sadly, I'm actually using iTunes 11 (and apologies, should have specified that). Additional info: the MacBook Air is a couple of years old, the MacBook Pro probably about 3 years old. Both are running OS X 10.8.2
I understand the whole "Not all previously purchased movies are available for downloading to your other devices" thing, or at least, the rationale for it.
So I just checked if I could download the problematic movie in question, Dredd, to my iPad (to which I am also of course signed in using my Apple ID). That download is going smoothly, as is - just because I wanted to check - the download to my iPhone too.
So this weird issue seems specific to the iTunes instance running on my MacBook Pro... -

Okay so heres the issue, my gf wanted to play with my iphone so I said yes apparently this was a mistake -___-. i didnt find out till today when i suscribed to itunes match.... apparently she logged into her account and downloaded some books from her account so she could read them.. so now im getting this error.. Here's what I want to do: I have a US and a Canada iTunes account, and separate IDs for each. Songs and movies from each account coexist happily on my main Mac. I want to download a past purchase movie from the US account but am getting this warning. I don't want the Canadian account to get blocked for 90 days so I am clicking cancel.
Now, what if I download the US movie to my son's Mac (where I have a little used login) and then copy it across to my main Mac? I'm getting the warning on that computer as well, but my assumption is that it's warning me about my son's AppleID, and he's at college for the next 90 days. Ie, he won't care. Is my understanding correct that it's the computer that gets locked for 90 days, not the Apple ID? That seems to be what the message says. I don't want to find out that my Canada store account is locked out of past purchases, etc if I go this route. -
I don't get why my Apple ID keeps saying this device is already associated with an Apple ID and something about 90 days but also it doesn't let me download any of my pre orders when available it has happened to me twice and my past purchases can someone contact me and give me some help sorting this out

I'm getting a similar problem with my Macbook Pro. itunes match was working fine until two days ago when i created another 'user id' for the laptop and then an itunes account for that user under their profile. Now i cant turn on itunes match on my itunes under my user account. Contacted Apple today who said to use the Express Lane and email the problem and they might be able to make an 'exception' on the account. Otherwise I'll have to wait 88 days to access a lot of my music on the macbook pro. itunes match is still working on the iphone 4S and ipad2.
Can anyone help? The only thought was too re-stream the laptop. Ive already tried deauthorising the other user but it made no difference.

My friend had some songs on her phone and she wanted more , so i pluged it into my laptop and tyey all dissapiered.i tyen set it up as a new iphone . Then we put the my songs on it . When we tried to download her songs it said " this device is already associated with an apple id, you can download past purchases on this device with just one apple id every 90 days. On my iMac I have five user accounts: 1 master family, father (me), wife, daughter and son. For iTunes, the family is used for family sharing and as is the organizer for family purchases.
My son's iCloud account is maintain through the Family account as he is under 13. I recently set up his user on the family computer and today started to build up his iTunes library so he can sync his iPod. iTunes was not logged into his iCloud account and had no music (it had not been used before). I entered his iCloud account and annoyingly it would not recognize the password I had recorded for him so I had to go through iForgot, Once in I went to family purchases to download a song that I had just purchased on the family account. It stated that this computer was not authorized to I authorized it using my son's iCloud account. When I went to download it stated:
This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.
You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 72 days.
What? It's a new set up....
I deauthorized the computer and reauthorized it using the family account, as the computer is registered to the family account. Why I tried to download again I did not get the error about but this time it said the computer was not authorized (even though I just did it). I appear to be stuck in a cycle of Apple ID association or authorization denial. I'm a little PO'd.
In the end I did it the old fashioned way and simply dragged in the music using family sharing (as this is switched on).
Beyond having to wait 72 days for the Apple ID to resolve itself is there any other options? Can I delete the entire user account of the computer and try again? I'd be willing to do that if I thought it would work...Not from your end. Click here and ask the iTunes Store staff for assistance.

I have two Apple IDs because i travel frequently between Mexico and the US, and the apple stores offer different products, so i like to download music, movies and TV series from both sites.
Apparently apple changed the conditions, becauise until a few days ago i could log our from one account and log in from my other one. Yesterday i was at Miami International Airport and wanted to download a few chapters from one of my TV series (Walking Dead) to watch on my way to Mexico City, but a pop up window came up saying "this device is already associated with an apple id". Curoiously, the ID to which i was connected to was precisely the one under which i had bought weeks ago the chapters i was wanting to download from the cloud. So it says i have to wait 90 days to change apple id.... weard! probably i accepted these terms when dowloading a new IOS version, so legally I'm dead in complaining, but why is it that if i am paying for all that i buy as a model citizen i am now blocked from jumping from one apple id to another one???? I can certainly buy another ipad and have one with one id and another one with the other, but is there any other way i can keep the two in just one device?? If i don't use i-could would anything change? This is really making me mad, and is the first time i have thought of moving our of mac products into samsung or others and buy my music and movies somewhere else where stupid restrictions like this one do not exist.
