Iphone and att uverse email account problem

I just purchase my iphone and am having trouble with setting up one of my email accounts. The email address is with At&t Uverse service.. When I add my pop and smtp information and p/w it comes back as an invalid user id or p/w. I am 100% certain that I have typed the correct p/w. I then went to my Gmail Account (which I have been able to set up on the iphone) to try and add the att uverse email account and it is coming back with an error of incorrect pop information. I did call uverse service and they were of no help. If anyone has an idea please let me know... Thanks, John

When you get an incorrect user name or password error on iphone or any other device, it is a response sent from the server. So, you hit the server you entered into host name of the email set up.

    If the picture was in your photo stream you can sign into the iCloud account in Settings>iCloud and turn on photo stream to see/copy it.  If it was only in the iCloud backup you can't restore just the picture; you have to restore the entire backup.  Restoring a backup is all or nothing.

    Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
    Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password.  On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
    See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
    Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo.

    That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
    XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
    Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
    Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Put in a request for another verification e-mail to be sent to you.
    Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
    Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.

    I just installed iOS6 on my iPhone 4 and "new iPad"....had a lot of issues with icloud but seemed to have resolved those issues. However, my exchange email and hotmail live account will not sync on my iPad. The iPhone appears to have adapted well, but the iPad will not sync email with either account. I actually went as far as deleting both accounts on the iPad and re-installing. Upon installation the iPad downloads all email, but still will not push and sync future messages. Any ideas?!?!

    UPDATE!
    I think it has something to do with the iCloud. It appears that when I am able to view the storage data in the iCloud, the email push / sync works fine. However, for unknown reasons, sometimes the iPad looses availablilty to iCloud. At that point, the push / sync no longer works. I have to shut off and reboot the iPad in order for it to reconnect with iCloud.
    I'm not sure why the iCloud is affecting hotmail and microsoft exchange email accounts, but it appears that this is when the function no longer works.
    Is anyone else having this same issue?

    Restore from iTunes. It is hard to say if you want to backup or rather revert to an old backup. I would recommend to save the previous backups to a safe place and then backup the current state and later test the backups incase your iPhone comes back to proper life.

    Great question, I have a similar problem except that the photo library appears to take precidence over my organised folders so not all of my folders appear on my IP 5.

    Like many who have posted notes about the Port change and third-party email accounts, I have read everything related to these changes and still cannot figure out how to adjust my settings so that I can send email from my third-party email account. In June, I switched to Verizon DSL from a cable service, which was very slow. "Slow" is now looking a lot more appealing than not being able to send email through my third-party account.
    I have a Verizon email account, which I use with friends and family. I have another account that I have had for over ten years. I used the latter account as my only account for many years and that is the email address on my business cards. I will continue to use the third-party account as my business account, so hopefully someone can walk me through the change process so I don't need to switch providers.
    I use Outlook for all my email. What do I need to change so that I can continue to use Verizon to send all my emails?
    My POP3 settings include User Information (my name as it appears to recipients and my email address), Logon Information (user name and password), and Server Information (Incoming mail server [POP3] and Outgoing mail server [SMTP]).
    What should appear in each of these so I can send email from my third-party account? Let's say my third-party email address is [email protected] User information is then my name and my email address ([email protected]). Logon information is then what? My abc.net user name and password? My verizon.net user name and password? Some combination of these? How about the Server information? Is my POP3 relay.abc.net or incoming.verizon.net? (I think it's the former for incoming.) Is my SMTP relay.abc.net on Port 587? Is it outgoing.verizon.net on Port 25? Something else?
    I know this is long, but I have really tried to follow all the instructions Verizon gives and I still cannot send email from my abc.net account.

    It really depends on whether your 3rd-party provider allows port 587 to be used. If they have a different alternate port you should be able to use that also. Verizon is *only* blocking port 25. Port 587 is just the default "other" SMTP port, so it's the alternate port for most providers, but not all. If you cannot get these settings to work, your other option is to set up Verizon for your outgoing server.
    For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up  your fictional account. Using "[email protected]" as the 3rd party address and "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
    The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: relay.abc.net (or whatever your 3rd party server is) - For this server you set up everything according to your domain's settings.
    Reply Address: [email protected]
    Outgoing Server: outgoing.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
    Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): No
    Port: 25 (although 587 also works.)
    These settings should work unless you have a Verizon/Yahoo account, in which case the outgoing server name is: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net

    I agree with LowLister, the best option for you to share the video online is to upload it to your online storage account for example : Box, Dropbox, SkyDrive (All of them provide free storage beginning from 2GB).
    You can upload the files which you want to share in this online storage and then they have sharing options in which you'll will get the link of the file to be sent and send the email. You're good to go!
    Tip : You can store multiple files for backup purposes.

    Don't understand your problem... Contacts sync with a compatible address book or cloud service. Contact records can contain names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, notes, or any combination of these. If you have records you don't want in your address book that you don't want in your contacts, then segregate them into groups in your address book and only sync the group(s) you want. If you don't want them there at all, then delete them.

    If I am interpreting your situation correctly, the previous iphone, now given to your husband, contains all of your previous data. If you want to retrieve that data, (photos etc...) sync it to your computer. When the sync is complete, restore the old iphone to factory settings. Now sync you new iphone to your computer. You can sync the data from the old iphone to your new one by choosing Restore From Backup. Set up your husbands phone with a new apple id. Hope that helps.

    I have two yahoo accounts and I know as they 'improved' their servers I had periodic outages. It'd work fine on my webmail on  my computer, webmail on the iPad, but not via the mail app. And it was stuff on their end. It may be a case of wait and see and you may need to eventually remove/readd the account on your iPhone.
    When the issue is on their end, unfortunately there's not much for users to do beyond wait it out or find work arounds.

    Like many (as seen in other forums), I ran into internet connect problems when upgrading to 10.5.2.
    One of the things I tried doing to correct the problem was trashing a couple internet pref files in the Home Library. One of them was the Mail pref file.
    Could be unrelated, but afterward, all my email and all my email accounts disappeared.
    They are still in my Home Library.
    How do I get Mail to recognize that my email accounts are still there?

    And there are many thousands of us with issues. Every post here represents at least 100 who do not post. There are a myriad of issues. You just got lucky.
    I am one of the unlucky ones. So far I have spent well over 14 hours trying to update to 10.5.2 for the promises it holds. I have failed twice and done an Archive and Install of 10.5.1 twice. My computer is brand new, only four months old. It's not even dusty yet. This makes Windows XP look like a cake walk.
    I'm sticking with 10.5.1. At least it works. And I am disappointed in Apple.
