Iphone and BMW 7 series

Anyone pair the iPhone with a 7 series BMW?
Two questions: what is the passkey number?
How does it handle phonebook entries from outlook contacts? Does it pick up all entries? I have hundreds! Or can it just pick up favorities?

My wife has a 2002 7 series with the BTUM upgrade. The iphone works and syncs with it, though it does take a minute or two to pair each time she starts the car. She has about 80 contacts that transfer without a hitch. The in dash keyboard works fine, as does the car's speakerphone. On her unit, the bluetooth module is in the cradle located in the center console. There is a blue illuminated button for pairing. The passkey is printed on a sticker on the reverse side of the button. HTH

I use my IPhone in my BMW 5 Series all the time. Bluetooth works great. IPod works great. I plug it into the USB and AUX ports in the car. Problem: It doesn't seem to charge when it is plugged in, especially if I am using it for music and/or navigation functions. If I plug it into the cig lighter it charges fine, but of course the music and speaker functions do not work. On a long drive, listening to music and making occasional calls (and searching for service in rural areas) it will run down entirely. Seems like it should have plenty of power to "do" anything if it is plugged in. Suggestions?

You need the snap in adapter, this will charge your phone,play music etc etc, it also uses the cars shark fin to improve phone signal too.

Yes It does work with this car but not syncing the contacts to the phone book.

6111 and BMW-3 series BT compatibility

Can any one advise please? My 6111 has been paired to the car's BT but can make /receive calls via the BT only after several abortive attempts. Tried pairing all over again and worked fine as long as the ignition was not switched off! Same frustrating problem at the next go! 6111 is not on BMW's compatibility chart which I think I think is not updated.

Borne for frustration as James would say. Taken delivery of a Lexus RX400H SEL. Love the car, but main reason is company car tax. Phone system in car is great. Nokia N80 easy to connect and connects every time I've started the car without problem.
N80 has data transfer, which is a fantastic additional, you can transfer all data between phones via Bluetooth, brilliant example of how technology can make life easy.
Lexus has Bluetooth data transfer, Oh the joy.
They talk to each other a marriage made in heaven!!!
Right up to the point when the Lexus screen says "phone not compatible".

Oh no, seems these global giants, both adopting the technological standard of Bluetooth have never heard of each other.
As usual its better to be at the "blunt handle" rather than the "cutting edge" of technology.
In my view, whoever can solve this issue should be, not only nominated for a noble prize, but should be the runaway winner. If I was a betting man, my money would be on the fact that the winner is highly unlikely to be employed by either lexus or nokia.
When will us consumers ever learn???

Iphone 3g and BMW

I have the new 3g iphone and although it has paired OK with my BMW, the address book doesn't display in the car. I didn't have this problem with my original iphone.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

upon reading other forums it seems that most cars pre september 2007 have the same problem with the new iphone 2.0 software !

BMW 3 SERIES

I just got my iphone 3G. However, I haven't managed to connect it to my Bmw 3 series, neither a Mercedes GL550 (yes I have to cradle for it). My major concern is the Bmw, so does anyone know if the iphone can actually connect to it?

Hi, I have a BMW 5 series and my iphone connects to the bluetooth. Although, I don't have a cradle. I connect the phone through the idrive counsel. If you click on the "i" in the center, go to settings, and find the option that says "bluetooth." Then turn on the bluetooth on your iphone and it should connect automatically. Both the phone and the car are going to ask for a password. Just enter the same 4 digit number for both. It should work after that.

As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.

IPhone and Windows 7 64 Bit - syncing issues

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone is able to help. I have updated to Windows 7 and am having problems syning my iPhone. It comes up with a multitude of errors but the most common is:
'The iPhone "Michael's iPhone" can not be syned. The required file can not be found.
I have restored the iPhone and after it resets, it sits at the Setup Window in iTunes for ages, then clicks over, starts syncing (it is doind that now) but also displays the error. Will be interesting to see if it actually finishes the sync and to see if the apps work on the phone.
I have also removed iTunes, Quicktime, Mobile App Supprt, Apple Software Updater, Bonjour and reinstalled and still the sync issues coninue. I also ran the diagnostic tool in iTunes on syncing and detecting the iPhone and it reports everything is ok.

Problems with Remote app on iphone and Mac connection

Hi,
I am using iTunes 10.4.1, and am trying to use the remote app on my iphone to control my itunes with it. I was able to connect previously, before I upgraded to Lion OS, before upgrading to the latest versions of iTunes and my iPhone as well. But now, the connection is just dead.
I tried to re-add my iTunes onto my iphone again, but I couldn't find this box to check in my iTunes under Preferences > Devices -
"Look for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad Remotes"
Someone please advice me?

May I ask what wifi hardware you use? It might be an wifi issue, but one which is only related with the "Bonjour" protocol which seems to be used for the Remote App. I found this thread which is older (iOS 3) but describing exactly the same problems:

bear in mind that the iphone4 is now "n" wifi compatible (2.4Ghz), so could it be that the "n" part of your network is poor and thus why you only see the problem on the iphone4 ?
At least it is not poor when using it from other devices or moving a lot of data in other Apps. It is all Apple Hardware (nothing older than 2 years), and maybe that's the problem. I never had network hardware which made so much trouble, as Apples Airport series. I wouldn't wonder if it is an incompatibility between a new wifi chip in the iPhone 4 and a older Revision of an Airport device. But I don't know how to check - is there a system.log on the iPhone which I can access somehow?

I was wondering about one thing which i can't seem to figure out how to...
I am a happy user of an iPhone and watch a lot of my favorite series on them.
But, every time i have converted all the files, I have to select them one by one to sync them to my iPhone.
Isn't there a way to sync video playlists yet? This would be great for the iPod Touch or iPhone.
Anyone got any intel on whether apple will do such a thing, or that something alike already exists???

The only way to stream directly to your TV would be if it is an AirPlay-enabled device.
There are many AirPlay-enabled devices but I am not familiar with Sony's products. If yours do not specifically indicate AirPlay capability, then you need an AirPlay-enabled device such as an AppleTV connected to your Sony TV or Sony AVR.

I've lost "sync" between the photo albums on my iphone and photo albums I have on my PC in folders. (I think I moved the PC folders by mistake) How do I combine them to get them all back on the iphone?

I'm afraid I'll delete one or the other if I don't do it properly.

Assuming you are using iTunes 11.1:
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
In iTunes towards the upper right of your screen you will see the name of your iPhone. Click on it (not the eject symbol.
This will open a series of windows with tabs.
Select the tab for photos.
Untick the ones you do not want on your iPhone and at the bottom right click on Apply.
They will be removed.

TomTom and BeatTheTraffic and BMW X5 nav

I am half way through 4K driving and the factory nav with 2009 DVD in my BMW X5 has proven wrong on turns, final destinations, and especially with traffic conditions.
During the trip, I was able to observe that the free app BeatTheTraffic on my iPhone and iPad was more accurate in terms of live traffic conditions on the interstate. Another plus is that BeatTheTraffic has a weather overrlay but of course it does not provide navigation info.
So in reading the threads about TomTom for the iPhone (iPad), I can't tell if HD Traffic by TomTom receives data like my BMW nav or BeatThe Traffic. I called TomTom and they could not answer this for me and of course once the purchase is made there is no refund.
I would appreciate help in deciding if the TomTom app would be a good investment for me.

Never mind. I ended up deleting the pairing from both phone and car. Fixed.

Iphone and Bluetooth earpeices.

Ok, so I've had the iphone since it was released and the only real issue I have with it is the reception for bluetooth earpeices. I've had 3 different ear peices, the first 2 were plantronics, they both worked fine but then eventually got so much static in the ear peice I couldn't hear from them unless I had the phone less then a foot from the earpeice..
Eventually I thought just the earpeices were peices of garbage so I just bought a new jawbone ear peice today, charged it, paired it and I'm still getting tons of static...
Can anyone give any insight? I'm lost.

As for the moto H700 (I checked the model number.) I don't know if it's still around--I've had it for awhile. I've been to two different Circuit City stores and both Verizon kiosks have clearance moto BT headsets for $15. It works good. The newer models have the fold out boom to toggle 0n/0ff. The $15 jobber is a 500 (older still) series... No toggle (bit for fifteen clams it's a steal any which way.)
The latest Moto BT whichever series they are up to has got to be as good and presumably better.
I agree w, the post that suggests all BT are subject to interference/static--to a point.
The phone and the BT headset have a great deal to do w. how that interference is handled.
I've been in a convertible going 50mph w. the jabra--noise cancel/military grade supposedly--and it worked like a charm--no static clear convo on both ends.
I've been one foot from the iPhone BT headset and iPhone and turned my head mid call and couldn't believe the static. Also when walking to my car to office--the thing sounded like that place you go when you're bad (rhymes w. smell.) It wasn't windy at all but just the mere walking made it sound like a wind tunnel.
iPhone thus far has less than stellar BT going for it--from what I've read here, my own experience and people I've spoken to. That being said, I use a BT more than I don't and while I've had better performance w. other phones (the convertible example was a Bb phone)---It still can be made to work--for me anyway.
