Iphone and exchange public folders

I have a small company and needed to share contacts with my colleagues. It seemed the best option is having a hosted exchange account and using public folders to share the contacts.
The only thing is that I have an iphone and those folders are not accessible on it. I think you can on the blackberry so, I was thinking of getting rid of the iphone for blackberry but otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the iphone...
I can wait a bit so, my question is mostly if anyone has any idea that a future update would be able to access the public folders?
Otherwise, I'm not married to exchange so, if anyone has a suggestion how I can easily share contact and other info like exchange and have it accessible on my iphone and MS entourage, I'd be willing to consider a switch...
(btw, i see how in entourage, you can select a contact public folder that is a favorite and have it sync with sync services. But I also have my personal contacts in my local folder and don't want to mix them...)
Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thanks!

my question is mostly if anyone has any idea that a future update would be able to access the public folders?
Nobody here would know that.

  • Looking for good tool to report on unused Mailboxes, unused Distribution Groups, and unused Public Folders

    I have evaluated the following products.
    Quest (Dell) MessageStats
    Enow
    StealthAudit
    StealthAudit looked to be the best as they also group like mailboxes with like permissions for Office 365 migrations, but this was by far the most expensive.
    We are looking to clean up our environment to eventually migrate to Office 365.  Any advice on a product that would report on unused Mailboxes, unused Distribution Groups, and unused Public Folders that would be great.

    Hi,
    In your case, you can use the following cmdlet to determine unused mailboxes. If a mailbox has never logged on, the Lastlogontime is empty.
    Get-Mailbox|Get-MailboxStatistics |fl DisplayName,Lastlogontime
    Use the cmdlet below to get publicfolder's last access time.
    Get-PublicFolderStatistics |fl name,LastAccessTime
    Get all distribution lists used over last 30 days.
    Get-MessageTrackingLog -EventId Expand -ResultSize Unlimited |Sort-Object RelatedRecipientAddress | Group-Object RelatedRecipientAddress |Sort-Object Name | Select-Object @{label=”PrimarySmtpAddress”;expression={$_.Name}}, Count
    Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Read MS Exchange "Public Folders"

    Hi
    I need to read a MS exchange public folder
    The structure looks like this in out look
    'Public Folders'
    --- 'All Public Folders'
    --------- 'Development'
    --------------- 'Unsubscribe'
    I have tried the code below I can see the 'Public Folders' but it returns nothing in the list. I also can't get to the 'Unsubscribe' folder either. Does any one have some code for me to look at that goes multi folders down and reads the emails in the sub folder
    Your help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Properties props = new Properties();
    Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);
    Store store = session.getStore("imap");
    store.connect("server", "user", "password");
    Folder publicFolder = store.getFolder("Public Folders/");
    Folder[] folders = publicFolder.list();
    for (int i=0; i < folders.length; i++) {
    System.out.println(folders[i].getName());
    }

    A few suggestions...
    Try the name without the trailing slash ("/"). It shouldn't make a difference,
    but it might.
    Try the folderlist.java demo program. It will list everything your server knows
    about, starting with the "default folder".
    Try using the Store.getSharedNamespaces() method and recurse from there
    using the list method.

  • Merging existing 2013 Public Folders and 2010 Public Folders from different organization.

    Following recent acquisition of another company we faced the following situation:
    Company A has Exchange 2013 Organization up and running and already using new Public Folders migrated from 2010 when we upgraded.
    Company B has Exchange 2010 Organization with their own PF infrastructure.
    When it comes to migration, there's already public folder mailbox which was created when first migration occured.
    I cant figure next steps to merge those PF infrastructures at the moment, as removing public folder mailbox prior migration is not an option, since we already have big amount of data in 2013 Organization.
    Have anyone done similiar task and if so, how did you overcome this limitation?

    You're looking at a third-party product.  MigrationWiz does public folders.  There are other cloud-based migration solutions, but I don't know whether they support public folder migrations.

  • IPhone and Exchange 2007 anyone?

    Does anyone use their iPhone with exchange 2007?
    Thanks
    Marc

    I am trying to but am running into the following problem:
    1. If you create "contacts" within Outlook 2007 or on the iphone, they will auto sync but...
    2. If you use "Business Contacts" they will NOT sync...why I dont know.
    3. One can not upload contacts via a spreadsheet (.xls) into "contacts" but you can into "Business Contacts". Go figure! I have 12,000 contacts to upload into my iphone and can not get them to sync. I do not want to enter them into "contacts" by hand...
    Any help to me and others would be appreciated.

  • IPhone and Exchange Calender issues persist with 2.1 update

    Hi,
    iPhone users cannot use the Exchange calender in my organization on their iPhones because of the following and Windows Mobile users do not have the same issue using the same settings. Exchange mail and contact work fine.
    1. iPhone does not sync up existing calender events when Exchange account is added
    2. Every event needs to be sent as an invitation to the Exchange account used on the iPhone. I did this after the 2.1 update and after a few minutes all the events that did show up from invitation suddenly disappear!
    3. The iPhone cannot invite people to meetings. And if an event is created (for your own viewing) on the iPhone, if you edit the event it will not update on the Exchange side
    4. After applying the 2.1 update I no longer receive invitation notices on the iPhone. The event just shows up in my calender but again, they disappear after a few minutes. The only events that stick are the ones I create on the iPhone and changes to that event to not reflect server side.
    Has anyone come across this issue an if so are there any solutions? Thanks.

    I actually discovered that the fix for the iPhone calendar not syncing correctly was either a recent MS update (We are using Exchange 2003) and or adjustment to Sites and Services in AD. So my fix above was not the fix after all. Some iPhone users during the last two weeks all of a sudden noticed their calendars were syncing and events were filled in.
    From our Windows IT Admin when I asked them what they did:
    “We ran Microsoft updates weekend before last, and we adjusted the Sites and Services part of AD so that our Domain Controllers are associated with their correct location (this change rendered RPC over HTTPS inoperable (it worked about 50% of the time prior to this change, based on which DC you authenticated against)).”

  • Exchange mail between iphone and outlook fsync folders

    Hi
    I have a Iphone 4s with email connected to a Exchange 2010 server
    I also run this mail on my company PC who is running Outlook 2007
    When I am moving a email from a Inbox to a folder on my Outlook 2007 this will not be updatet on my Iphone, but if I move a eemail from Inbox to a folder on the Iphone this updates on the Outlook 2007
    Do anyone know what this error can be?

    Well, I signed up on my mac and then added the account to my iphone.  Then I added the folders on my mac.  They are all Smart Malbox folers with rules.  Is that the problem?  I've read somewhere that your phone won't sync the smart mailboxes ???
    Thanks.

  • Exchange mail is marked "read" on iPhone and Exchange Mail

    My boss asked me this morning if I had ever heard of this happening, and I have not.  He syncs his exchange mail with his iPhone.  He says that all of his mail appears on both devices marked as "read".  He is using Windows 7.  Has anyone had this problem?  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hi there I'm having the same issue but only with 1 account,what was the fix?

  • Sent mail iPhone  and exchange not synching

    Howdy - I have googled this, but come up with different topics. My iphone Sent items don't end up in my Exchange sent items folder. Everything else syncs perfectly. I'm sure there's a simple explanation - most of what I read is garbled messages appearing in the exchange sent folder - mine don't appear full stop. I use Entourage, don't think that matters though?
    Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

    I may have found the answer to this issue - at least it works for me.
    I had more than one email address on the Exchange server and apparently I was logging in using the older one instead of the newer one. Everything seemed to work but sent mail was not getting through to the iPhone. I actually deleted the account - not sure if necessary - and then set it up using my other email address (newer) and it worked. My blog post about is at http://tr.im/vr9u

  • Migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 Public Folders coexistence

    Hi all, I'm migrating from Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2013 SP1.
    I have an Exchange 2007 server (Client Access, Hub Transport and Mailbox Server) in Site A, mailboxes and Publics Folders
    In another Site in Site B, I have already installed (Client Access and Mailbox Server) Exchange 2013 server.
    I am migrating test users, the fact is that users who migrated to Exchange Server 2013 Public folders do not see.
    How I can make the migrated users from viewing the Exchange 2007 Public Folders duration coexistence?
    Is there a "how to" to migrate Public Folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013?
    thank you very much
    Microsoft Certified IT Professional Server Administrator

    Hi,
    In Exchange 2013, the Public Folder is changed to Public Folder mailbox instead of Public Folder in Exchange 2007 database.
    Due to the changes in how public folders are stored, legacy Exchange mailboxes are unable to access the public folder hierarchy on Exchange 2013 servers. However, user mailboxes on Exchange 2013 servers or Exchange Online can connect to legacy
    public folders. Exchange 2013 public folders and legacy public folders can’t exist in your Exchange organization simultaneously. This effectively means that
    there’s no coexistence between versions.
    For this reason, it’s recommended that prior to migrating your public folders, you should
    first migrate your all legacy mailboxes to Exchange 2013. For more information about migrating public folder from previous versions, please refer to:

  • Unable to expand public folder in Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013 CU6

    Hello,
    we have just migrated Exchange 2010 to 2013. Everything works great, except public folders, which we are not able to expand in Outlook 2013. Public folders can be added to OWA without any problem, so just the Outlook 2013 is a problem (we never tried any
    other version, as all the e-mail clients installed here are Outlook 2013).
    The public folders are visible under node Favorities in Outlook 2013, but whenever we click any folder, the Public folders disappear completely from the left navigation pane or the message is shown on the right pane, that the public folder cannot be opened.
    When Outlook is started, a dialog is sometimes opened, which contains prefilled Microsoft exchange server, mailbox, button Check name, which is disabled. The only thing which can be done with that dialog is clicking the button Ok.
    Any help is appreciated, the desperation level starts to be reaching max threshold.
    Kind regards,
    John.

    Thank you for your quick response. I have tried removing and creating new Outlook profile many times, without any effect.
    1) When I switch to the online mode, only the node All Public Folders is displayed in the left navigation pane and after I start the Outlook the dialog mentioned above is displayed. The node Favourities is not visible.
    2) In offline node, node App Public folders is visible and whenever I click it, message "Cannot expand the folder" is shown. After checking Download favourities, the list of public folders is available, but whenever I click any folder, it shows
    "We didn't find anything to show here." and "The folder is up to date." in the bottom status bar. The content is rendered correctly in OWA and these public folders contain many e-mails and subfolders. None of these is rendered in Outlook.
    Thanks in advance for any tips and inspiration, we start to run out of ideas. I am more than sure that it will be something simple, but we can't still figure it out.

  • Unable to Manage custom forms in Exchange 2013 Public Folders or Organizational Forms Library

    We've been doing custom forms development for many years and many versions of Exchange.  This Exchange 2013 presented me with this new problem.  We use Exchange 2013 with Cumulative Update 5, and Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013.  This problem
    happens on all versions of the latest patched Outlooks.
    1) I have successfully created a Public Folder and an Organizational Forms Library
    2) I have granted myself "Owner" privilege to the entire public folder in both the IPM_Subtree and the Non_IPM_Subtree
    3) I can publish forms into a Public Folder and the Organizational Forms Library
    But, after the form is published, I can't manage it.  The COPY, UPDATE, DELETE, PROPERTIES, and SAVE AS buttons are greyed out.
    This does not happen for anything in my Personal Forms, my Mailbox or anything in Favorites that are locally cached.
    Since the Organizational Forms Library cannot be "Cached" by putting it in Favorites, there seems to be NO way to even delete a form that is published to there.
    The closest link that describes a similar (maybe same) problem is
    http://www.michev.info/Blog/Post/14/Unable-to-manage-Forms-in-Outlook
    A) Anybody else have the same problem?
    B) Since it seems I only have control over forms in my Mailbox, and since Public Folders are suppose to be an mailbox, does anyone know how to setup a Public Folder so that you can login to it and attach it as a mailbox?
    C) Does anyone know how to make the Organizational Forms Library cached locally so it can be managed?
    J Awe TechBldrs Inc. www.TechBldrs.com

    Easy steps to reproduce the problem.
    1) create a public folder subfolder (do not create a Favorite)
    2) make yourself and OWNER
    3) publish a form to the subfolder (Open a any form and save it with any name)
    4) use the Form Manager select the public folder subfolder that you are an OWNER of
    5) select a form and see if the buttons are GRAYED out.
    PLEASE TRY THIS ON YOUR OWN SYSTEMS TO VERIFY THE PROBLEM.

  • Exchange 2013 / 2010 / 2007 - Public Folders

    I have read that legacy public folders and 2013 public folders canot co-exist.
    If I have legacy public folders A, B and C, does this mean...
     that if I migrate folder A to 2013, i cannot maintain a replica on legacy systems, but folders B and C are still accessible
    ..or..
     If I migrate folder A to 2013, I must migrate folders B and C also.
    If I am need to import folder D, from an external Exchange 2013 installation, into my legacy public folder system, is it possible to migrate folder D out of the external 2130 environment into my legacy public folder environment? If so, is there any extra functionality
    2013 PF has that the users will lose if the folders are down graded to legacy?
    Thanks!
    Tom

    Hi,
    User mailboxes on Exchange 2013 servers can connect to legacy public folders, but legacy Exchange mailboxes are unable to access the public folder hierarchy on Exchange 2013 server.
    Exchange 2013 public folders and legacy public folders can’t exist in your Exchange organization simultaneously.
    Before you migrate public folders, you need to migrate mailboxes to Exchange 2013 first.

  • IPhone Inbox and Exchange inbox don't match

    My iPhone inbox has about 100 items in it, but OWA and Outlook show that I have 7 because I sorted them into folders, PST's, etc. I still receive new email via push on the iPhone, and can traverse folders where I triaged email, but it seems the inbox never does a complete sync.
    Is there a way to force the iPhone to resync all folders?

    Spotlight found the emails allowing me to open and read them.
