IPhone and Miscrosoft Exchange Server

I am able to send emails from my iPhone via the exchange server at my work, but my phone will not download or receive messages from the server.
Any suggestions?

Hey Olapalai,
Make sure the Exchange account has IMAP enabled.
+Note: Exchange email accounts must be configured for IMAP in order to work with iPhone or iPod touch. Contact your IT organization for more information.+

  • IPhone and Microsoft Exchange Server , 'Send As' Function

    Hi there
Well as described in the topic. Is it possible to send emails from the iPhone, using another smtp server?
    Why I need this?
Well, some people in our company have 2 separate Mail Accounts.
One for everything and one for the iPhone. They can then create rules by themself for which emails they want to be forwarded to their iPhone.
The problem is, when they answer using the iPhone, they would like their regular email address to appear, so that all mails still arrive at the regular mail account.
    Can anyone help me?
I hope I've expressed myself clear
Thanks for your help in advance

    Try this:
    1. On your Exchange server that runs your active sync or outlook web access, open IIS
    2. Right click on the website that contains exchange components and choose properties.
    3. Select the "Directory Security" tab
    4. Under "Secure Communications", click the "Edit" button
    5. Under "Client Certificates", select "Ignore Client Certificates"
    6. *IMPORTANT STEP: When you click ok and ok again, it may ask you whether you want to change other subfolders within the main container with the modifications you have just made, dont select any of these subfolders, just click OK. It is only the main properties you need to change. Those that need to inherit, should already inherit properly. If you select other subfolders to change with the modifications you have just made, it will likely ruin your active directory setup as some subfolders need different security settings to others.

  • Iphone and Microsoft Exchange server 2007.

We as a corporate company have many iphone users, and the iphone users are configured with our corporate microsoft exchange 2007 server.  So the users use their iphones to check their corporate emails which is on microsoft exchange 2007.   So they have setup a connection on their iphones to the company exchange server.
The issue we have is that the iphone users have issues with sending out email via the exchange email accounts on their iphones, when they send large emails, or emails with a long chains, When they send these emails the emails gets stuck in the outbox, and does not send out.  The users then have to delete the content in the email, or make the email less in size and then it sends OK.
We have checked our exchange server and the settings seem ok, and we have contacted microsoft, and they have done some tests with a windows mobile emulator which acts like a mobile device, and there are no issues with sending email their.  So they have asked me to contact Apple about any issues.
So has anyone come across this issue.  Any suggestions.

I HAD two accounts because of this problem.  I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client.  Guess what is happening??  That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening.  This is incredibly frustrating.  When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system.  COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

iCloud does not sync which apps are installed on each device. Deleting an app off of one device has no effect on the others.

  • Oracle alerts and microsoft exchange server

    Hi,
We are working on Oracle Applications 11i (fail over on 2 servers) which is installed on Solaris 64 bit .
AND I am trying to configure Oracle Alerts with Microsoft Exchange Server.
I am following the note: Oracle Applications And Microsoft Exchange Server-Interoperability Guide.
At the step of configuring the exchange Server I need to know the account used to run the Concurrent Manager service.
    How can i check that?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
At the step of configuring the exchange Server I need to know the account used to run the Concurrent Manager service.
How can i check that? Most probably it is applmgr user.
To verify, issue "cd $COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>", then "ls -l adcmctl.sh". This should should the OS owner of the script (the OS user which is used to start the CM). Or, you could check the value of the "s_appsuser" context variable in the application context file to determine the user.

  • Installing and configuring Exchange Server 2013 on mobile boradband

I'm trying to configure Exchange Server 2013 on my test server. But I have a mobile boradband connection for Internet. Therefore, I don't have port forwarding and a static IP. Since I'm a beginner, I want to know whether I can install and configure exchange
server on my machine or whether there are workarounds for this. Thanks.

    Hi,
If you just want to work internally, I suggest build AD and DNS server on your lab and give it a static IP.
If you want to work both internally and externally, I suggest publish your DNS.
    Thanks

  • Can I sync my iPhone calendar with exchange server AND ical on my mac ?

I have been happily using my iPhone synced with my Macbook over usb via iTunes.
I have contacts and iCal syncing. I have a number of 'calendars' set up in iCal which allow me to view separate aspects of home and work but they all exist within iCal. iPhone just treats these as colour coded appointments (different colour for each ical calendar)
I really like this set up.
However, I just changed jobs to a firm where they have a hosted outlook exchange set up and I need to use the exchange calendar for work appointments and showing my availability.
I have managed to setup my iPhone to work with the Exchange server for email as well as in apple Mail on my mac. This has all worked fine. However, I hesitated when iPhone asked if i wanted to sync my contacts and calendar. I said no as I was unsure if my private calendar/contacts would be uploaded to the public work area.
In fact it seems that this is the least of my worries:
As I have read on apple support for iPhone:
"Note that after configuring an Exchange ActiveSync account, all existing contact and calendar information on the iPhone or iPod touch is overwritten. Additionally, iTunes no longer syncs contacts and calendars with your desktop computer. You can still sync your iPhone or iPod touch wirelessly with MobileMe services."
So I am really pleased that I didn't let it sync those and wipe out my personal data if that is really true.
But now I am unsure how best to enable myself to view and update the work calendar on exchange.
Also it would be nice to see work contacts on my iPhone.
    Contacts
    - although i have said no to sync contacts with Exchange in fact it looks like I can get contacts ok - when i send email from the Exchange account on the phone , it searches Exchange contacts on the server as i type in the TO box.
    - also in Contacts on the iPhone I have a new group that has been created with the name of my Exchange account. The group appears to be blank when you go into it on the phone, but you can type in the search box and get contact details from the server just fine.
This seems workable for now for my purposes, although updating contacts is not going to be possible that way.
I'd like more info on that if poss but more importantly..
    Calendar
    - Unlike Contacts, no Calendar has been auto created for Exchange
    - Unlike contacts, I can't see how I can view or search or create an appointment in my Exchange calendar on the iPhone
What is the best solution to this problem - I presume lots of people face the same dilemma. My initial research suggests that there are multiple ways round this but all of them look like workarounds with various disavantages.
    Questions are
    - Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
    - Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
    - What is the best work around for this?
At the moment I am seriously considering getting a separate iPhone for work and have that sync with Exchange fully although that seems a bit drastic and does not solve the problem of seeing work and home appointments on the same calendar.

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

  • Can iPhone Sync with Exchange Server - Calendar and Contacts?

Gateway   Windows XP Pro   Outlook 2003
    Gateway   Windows XP Pro

My colleague who uses Windows at the office has synced her calendar with Outlook 2003; that should not be a problem. The iPhone directly syncs contacts with Outlook 2003 as well.
iPhone does not connect to Exchange Servers directly unless they are setup for IMAP or POP e-mail access. And in those cases it is not syncing calendar or contact info with the server, just e-mail. (As an aside, we have not been able to get the iPhone to retrieve e-mail using POP to connect to our Exchange server. POP is working fine (lots of other e-mail clients use it without a problem), but the iPhone cannot connect).
    Hope that helps.

  • IPhone and MS Exchange - What works and what doesn't?

Along with many other users, I have been struggling with the issue of getting email to work correctly with MS Exchange and the iPhone. Since I have been working with the iPhone since the day it came out, I thought I would post a few successes so others can get a definitive answer on what is actually working so far. Note, I have been testing this only with Exchange 2003 server and I understand that there are reported issues using Exchange 2007. More info here: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2152500,00.asp
    • Exchange works fine with the iPhone to send and receive email if the Exchange Server is setup to use IMAP email. This is the only way to get to the server natively from the iPhone. Remember, the server has to be available through the firewall or you may have to use the iPhone VPN service to get to the server. Ask your Admin for the correct settings. Many Admins lock down all common ports and the only way in is through the VPN.
    • No IMAP, no email? - Well, there are many other ways to get your email if the Admin is unwilling to setup IMAP on the Exchange Server. I won't go into all of them but here are a few ways to get your mail.
    - Synchronica Mobile Gateway - www.synchronica.com. They offer a 60-day free evaluation that now supports the iPhone. Essentially it gets your email using Outlook Web Access (OWA) and you access the mail through their service. I have used it and can confirm that it does work. A little slow, but works. Not sure what the cost will be when it free part ends.
    - Forward your email. Forward your exchange mail to another service. You can always have your exchange mail forwarded to a service such as Yahoo or Gmail and get the mail from there. Not the best scenario but once again, you are getting your email.
    - Use OWA from the iPhone browser. Not ideal, but it does work. Along with seeing you calendars and contacts.
    • Email is the only thing that works. There is no syncing with Exchange calendars or address books, other than using Apples iTunes syncing locally with your apps. Meaning you have to manually sync with the iPhone cable attached to your computer every time you sync. However I am able to view all my public folders and access the emails in them. The RSS feeds in Public folders work as well, however no calendar or address book public folders work.
    • Emails don't delete from Exchange when I delete using the iPhone. This is the most frustrating issue I have with the iPhone. Apparently when you delete a message on the iPhone it is only marked for deletion on the Exchange Server. This means that until the deleted message actually receives the IMAP command to purge all messages marked for deletion, the message continues to appear on your Outlook, Apple mail, Entourage or other mail client. So you end up having to delete it twice. This is a real pain when you get back to your desktop machine and you see all the messages you already deleted from your iPhone and you either have to delete them again or use the Purge command. Luckily the folks at freshlogicstudios.com have released a free command line app called Expunge that does the dirty work for you. Read about it here: http://blogs.freshlogicstudios.com/
Just run this little app on a PC and it will delete the messages marked for deletion for you, essentially making the iPhone work as it should. If you are using a PC you can have this app run in the background. If you are using a Mac like me, I have it running on one of our servers at work. I know not everyone has this luxury, but you could run it on a home PC or ask your IT person nicely if they have a machine it could run on. Not the best solution but definitely welcome until Apple fixes this annoying issue. One note, this app requires the .Net Framework to be installed on the PC. Get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD -AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en
    • The iPhone is not a business phone. I am so tired of hearing this. I travel frequently and use the iPhone for all my business email, scheduling and phone calls. I've used the Blackberry, the Treo and the Blackjack phones in the past and honestly don't understand the attraction. After using the iPhone for the last two months there is no way I could go back. In my opinion, the browser, the keyboard and general ease of use just blows these other phones away. With just a few added features this would be the ultimate business phone.
    Hope this helps somebody.
Come on Apple, please license Active Sync!!!

Setting up Exchange support of your iPhone. At first with iPhone software version 1.0, Apple didn't have the Exchange settings quite right. If you selected the Exchange mail setting, you were unable to see any of the Public Folders and your subfolders appeared within the Inbox on your desktop mail client. Many people would setup their account using the standard IMAP email setting on the iPhone which corrected this. Apple fixed this with the 1.0.1 update release. Now you can use the Exchange email setting and it works as it should.
Well, it doesn't work for me as it should. If I configure the account as an EXCHANGE account most messages don't download. Instead, I get the message "Loading message" if I try to open a message. Then it just sits with "Loading message" displayed forever. If I reconfigure the account as IMAP I don't have this problem.

  • A Mac, a PC, a Treo, a Tour and an Exchange Server walk into a bar...

I've been a Palm user for over ten years. Yesterday my boss told me that I'd be getting a data plan for my Verizon phone and I could stick with my Treo or he'd upgrade me to a Blackberry. I've had my Treo for 14 months, well, I've had a Treo for 14 months, but 6 different ones because the stupid things keep breaking. It didn't take a whole lot of time to make the decision to switch to a Blackberry.
    So here's the situation...
I am a tried and true Mac devotee. I have a Mac laptop and a desktop, and do the majority of my personal and creative work on the laptop. I am also a programmer, so have a PC laptop as well. My work computer is a PC (of course) and our email and calendar is hooked up to an Exchange server.
My boss sync'd my Tour to the Exchange server this morning and I am getting my work emails, etc with no problems.
I have the Palm desktop on my Mac and my PC, and both are sync'd with my Treo. I need to get all of my contacts into my Tour, and I'd like to get the Blackberry desktop on at least my Mac laptop so that I have a fully sync'd calendar on it since it's the computer I usually have with me.
When I back my Treo up, all of my text messages, images, notes, etc are backed up by the Palm software as well - is there a way to port those into the Blackberry as well? Are any applications compatible between the two?
I also have a fantastic program on my Treo called NVBackup that runs on a schedule that backs up the entire phone every 24 hours so that if the phone dies all you have to do is pop the memory card out, put it in a new phone and it will reinstall everything. Is there a similar program for the Blackberry?
    Thanks!!

At this moment I can recieve email thru the exchange server, the Mac shows its connected to the exchange server but I cannot send or reply to an email, and the incoming and outgoing server is the same freaking server!  My simple iphone syncs seeemlessly with my servers, email, calendars and contacts.  It makes no sense.  Any suggestions?
iPhones connect to Exhange servers via ActiveSync, whereas Mac OS X Mail (as does Entourage EWS and Outlook 2011) connect via Exchange Web Services (I've read it's due to rather licensing issues for ActiveSync that prevents Apple from using it on OS X as well, but that's unconfirmed). So what works with one has little bearing on what works or doesn't work on the other.
Anyway, we'll see if we can come up with any ideas. Let's start with basics: what version of Exchange is running on the server and what version of Mac OS X is your MacBook running? And does this problem happen when you're connected directly to the company network, or only when you're connecting via another provider?

  • Inconsistent/one-way sync between new iPhone and MS Exchange

So this is weird. When I use my work PC and add a calendar item in MS Office, the exchange server (which is synced to my iPhone) sends the calendar item to my phone. But when I add a calendar item on my phone, it does not appear in my PC laptop's Office calendar. Although, sometimes when I enter something in the iphone and I'm sitting right next to my computer (and on wifi instead of 3G in the last case), it does occassional sync both ways. Can anyone possibly help with this?

Sounds like some kind of server confusion over which device is considered 'authoritative'.
A few syncs later does the iPhone and the server end up 'losing' those appointments, or do they stay on both devices but just never turn up on your iteration of Outlook?
