Iphone and music synching
I just got a new iphone. I did not synch it to my backup or laptop yet, however I noticed that all my songs from itunes were already in my music. I assume this was linked through my apple ID. However, the songs only show when the internet/netwrok is active. Furthermore, it also shows i have "0" songs in my memory on my phone, so they are not playing off the phone itself. My question is, when I play these songs am I streaming data aka using my data plan to listen? This sounds a little sneaky of apple...if I synch my phone to my laptop/itunes music will it override this?
It would be great if this was just a convenient way to have all my music but i do not want to be paying everytime I listen.
the syncing problem came as a surprise to me - Mophile doesnt rally mention it on their web site - but I called them and they said the case is not designed to allow syncing with the case on - so its not a bug but a lack of functionality buit in(or not built in to the case)
as to your problem with tthe audio cable - ive heard that sometimes quickly plugging and unplugging the cable from the the audo jack several time will fix this problem - whats going on is the phone still thinks the audio cable is attached - and quickly plugging and unplugging it several times clears that up

I bought a new Mac. I previously had my iPhone and iPad synched to my PC. I set up iTunes but my playlists did not come over from my PC. I can redo that without a problem...BUT...I just tried to synch my iPad with my Mac and I got the following message: The iPad "name" cannot be synched. You do not have the privilege to make changes. I deauthorized my PC and have authorized my Mac...it just won't synch. Help!!

I already have an iPod, iPhone and iPad connected to and synching via my Windows PC. Can I add other iOS devices? How many more? Will this all chance once iCloud becomes official?
No limit to devices. The limit for authorized computers however is 5. iCloud has not been released yet but I should think not.

if i add music to my iphone can it still be added to my ipod? Also can both the iphone and ipod be synced to the same itunes?
Yes. I'm doing like that now. I have to manually manage the music syncing to the iPhone since I have 50G of music, but it works.

IPhones and music in corporate environment
We have a recentley rolled out a small number of iPhones in our company.
We have used the config utility to block itunes usage.
I would still like the users to have the use of the iPod on the iPhone to play music.
Is this possible? If so, how?
Keeping in mind, the iTunes application is not permitted on company PCs or Laptops.
It might also be worth mentioning, some users do have iTunes installed on their home PCs.
Many Thanks in advanceiTunes isn’t required in order to use the device with your enterprise systems, but it’s required for synchronizing music, video, and web browser bookmarks with a computer. It’s also required for downloading and installing software updates for devices and installing your enterprise applications. So, I guess my question is do you have any enterprise applications, & if you do, how were you planning on installing them?
To sync music, all your users have to do is connect their phones to their home computers with itunes running & sync. The only gotchas would be app installation, but you can disable that through the configuration utility, and perhaps the syncing of videos and photos that your firm might find inappropriate.
Regarding other devices the users might own, that's not a problem as you can sync as many devices as you want to the same itunes account, there is no limit. -
Lost iPhone and Music purchased on phone
My iPhone was stolen, and I never was able to back up the music I purchased on the phone through iTunes. Is there anyway I can download them onto my computer?
You can email them and plead your case but they do not have to allow you to download them again.

I have 2 Apple IDs. 1 associated with all the family's devices and the other with no devices associated with it. Is there a way to split out the devices between the 2 IDs without losing Apps (iPhone 4s) or music (iPod classic)?
i'd be inclined to leave things as they are. Managing app updates over more than one account in the same library or device requires you to sign in and out of each account in turn. You cannot transfer content from one account to another.

If so, any change after restarting your Mac? -
I have a 30GB video. i am not able to copy any videos to my ipod. The video is the right format which can be played on other pods. Also i am not able to play songs from my ipod from itunes. its only when i disconnect the ipod, i can listen to the songs. whne i copy a message comes which reads 'the ipod cannot accept the format'. But the same video can be copied to other pods.
It is a relatively common problem, and there is a fix- you'll need to restore your iPhone. What has happened is that the iPhone's memory has become corrupted, probably as the result of an interrupted sync. Plug the phone into the computer, and click on the "restore" button. When asked, choose "restore from backup". Once the restore is completed, all should be back to normal.

Question about iPhone and Music
I'm a long time PC user but about to buy an iPhone.
I'm a little confused how iTunes works. Are there any restrictions about the type or source of the music I put on my iPhone? I have thousands of MP3s that have been ripped from CDs over the years.
Thanks! The iPhone will gladly accept all your MP3s with no issues. You have to import them into iTunes. iTunes can then help you organize them, put album cover art on them, etc. iTunes is the only way to put music onto your iPhone right now, but it doesnt care where the MP3 came from.

I have just bought a new computer and downloaded itunes. I plugged in my iphone and upgraded to the newest itunes/ synched etc. Now have no music or apps on the phone. Contacts, texts, photos all fine. Just all itunes content that is missiing. It isn't showing in my itunes account on my computer or on my phone. Any idea how to get it back? (No point synching with itunes on my computer as it isn't there either!)
I suggest copying your entire iTunes library to your new computer, also you might want to copy the photos you want to save. Then sync your device to the new iTunes and copy over your music, documents and photos that you want.
If you are no longer going to use the old computer you should open up iTunes on the old computer and use the menu to deauthorize it. Be sure to use the same iTunes menu on your new computer to Authorize the new one. -
I have been purchasing songs from itunes for the past year. I have over 100 songs. I recently got a new computer and I synched the iphone to it. I can't find 90% of my music. Where is it and how can I get it back? I checked itunes under purchased and it only shows 13 songs. Please help.
You can only sync with one computer. When you synced to the new computer it would have erased it and synced what was on the new computer.
You always need to have a backup, an iPhone is not a storage device.
When you get a new computer you need to transfer your library before syncing
If you don't have a backup you may be out of luck
The only thing would be if you're in the US and have access to the iCloud beta to reload purchases

I have added many CD to my iTunes music library and then synched them with my iPhone so that I have all music in both places. Then I could the play them in iTunes or iPhone with no problems. Recently, my iTunes "sees" the music library but won't play any of it becuase "the original could not be found". If I attach my iPhone, then it pays them through the iPhone, but still not through the library in iTunes. How can I get the music library on my iPhone to transfer (i.e. restore it) to iTunes? I have iPhone 4S but have not upgraded to the iOS 6, and have not had any problems until last week. Help! Thanks.
Check the manual for whatever backup program you used, or, if you just copied the files over, copy them that.
How to restore data to your PC is outside the scope of these forums.

How change default scan values?
Hi: Acrobat 9 defaults to 200 dpi image resolution and 11.7 x 17 page size with the Ricoh IS450 scanner I'm using with the Windows WIA driver. These defaults have to be overridden each time I start a new scan, rather than Acrobat 9 remembering the
