IPhone and the Sim Card

I'm currently on a mobile contract for another year.
I hate my HTC phone so i want to upgrade. Three (3) Mobile won't let me upgrade my phone free of charge for another 11 months, and even then it won't be an iPhone, just another Android.
So i was planning on having 3 make me a Microsim for an iPhone of my contract.
If i was to recieve this, when i brought my iPhone from the Apple Store would they put my new sim in for me?

Another idea to try would be to even try another SIM card in your phone or to try your SIM in another phone! If you toss your card in another phone and find that you still have issues, this could indicate that your SIM card may have had some sort of malfunction and you would have to contact your carrier for such issues. You could also try a back up by  these instructions here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
And to do a full restore with these instructions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Try the phone in it's factory settings before restoring from the back up! If you still have issues after trying the SIM, and after doing a restore, as long as your in warranty, apple will actually replace the device!

The SIM card In my iPhone 5 has been giving me occasional messages that there has been a SIM Failure, there is NO SIM, or that there is an INVALID SIM.  Until today, I was able to restart it with no problem and the SIM card would start up.  This afternoon the NO SIM message came up and I cannot fix it. What is my next step?  I am traveling in Canada now and it is not convenient to come back to the States just to get a SIM card.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me.  How can I initiate Verizon sending me a new SIM card?  I will be here  long enough to receive it if they can send it to me.
I have been trying to call Verizon Wireless, but they won’t take my call from my Skype account and I don’t have my phone.
    Thanks again,

    Hey NicolasZen,
Thanks for the question and welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you are experiencing issues with “No Service” or “Searching” on your iPhone. The following resource provides some great troubleshooting steps that you may wish to try:
    iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4429
Your iPhone may have one of these symptoms:
    - iPhone displays "No Service" or "Searching" in an area of good coverage
    - iPhone doesn't regain service when returning to an area of coverage
    Resolution
If you encounter either of the above symptoms on your iPhone, follow these steps to attempt to resolve the issue. Test after each step.
    1. Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
    2. Turn iPhone off and then on again.
    3. Remove the SIM card and verify that it's a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it isn't damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
    4. Check for a carrier-settings update. Connect to a Wi-Fi network. Then tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, iOS will ask you if you want to install it. If Wi-Fi isn't available, connect your device to iTunes.
    5. Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
    6. Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
    7. Restore the iPhone.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Can i reset my iphone without the sim card burning ?

can i reset my iphone without the sim card burning ?

Why would your sim card be burning?. If anything is burning it is safe just not to use the device at all and take it into an Apple Store to be evaluated.

  • Which NB100 comes with Bluetooth and the sim card slot

i am wondering which model come with bluetooth and the sim card slot,

I was a little disappointed the Bluetooth is missing on the NB 1000 12A, agreed the Bluetooth logo is on the left side of the box although the actual product spec sticker is on the right side and it only mentions wireless b/g.
Some of the listings for this model online do say it has Bluetooth although its evident its not included.
I have ordered one of these to cover the lack of onboard Bluetooth support:

  • Can my phone be used if it reset using recovery mode and the sim card is taken out and the phone is network unlocked? (iphone 5s)

If someone steals my Iphone 5s, removes the sim card, leaves the phone in airplane mode, puts in it recovery mode and resets it completely and deletes everything, then gets it network unlocked at a shop, and uses a pay as you go sim in the phone on a different network, can it be blocked or used by them still on a different network? I live in the u.k, and want to know what the thief can do with it? Can it be blocked if the thief does all this? Thanks.

Okay thanks, what happens if the apple id on the phone is an old itunes account in which you no longer have access to the email adress associated with it and you've forgetten the password? And lets say for instance you never used a credit card on the account and you filled out the details like the date of birth wrong when making the id? There would be no possible way to sign in to activate it and no possible way to recover the apple id. So what would happen?

  • Is it safe to sell my iPhone with the SIM card installed?

I sold my iPhone 5 and forgot to take the SIM card out. I deleted everything off it. Do I have anything to worry about?

You should have removed it. You cannot delete anything off the SIM, and the iPhone does not write anything to the SIM, however it does contain your wireless account info. But, since it is gone, not a lot you can do about it, but if the card is not active and disabled by the carrier then the person buying the phone will not be able to use it anyway. They will have to get their own and will get rid of that one.

  • Is it possible to backup an iPhone without the SIM card?

I've been an iPhone 3G user until recently when I bought my unlocked iPhone 4S. I was informed that I need to get my SIM card clipped in order for it to fit the new phone. My situation is that I'm actually traveling in overseas at the moment and do not have my computer with me to backup my old iPhone 3G. So my question is: can I go ahead and clip my SIM card now and then backup my iPhone 3G later without any SIM card, and finally syncing my new iPhone 4S? Or must I have my SIM card in the old iPhone 3G while backing it up?

Having a SIM card in the device has no bearing on whether it will backup or sync with iTunes.
A SIM card is required to activate the device and use a carriers services (voice, data, sms).
Instead of trimming the SIM card, you are better off getting a microSIM from your carrier.  If you accidentally mess up trimming the SIM card it will become useless.

  • Can i restore my iPhone without the SIM card?

HELLO! I have a new issue.
I updated my carrier plan. It started in April 2012 and finished in April 2014. I got an iPhone 5S in that transaction, but my old iPhone 3GS works yet.
I want restore it to delete ALL DATA (it's so slow), but i'm not secure, usually the iPhones require a SIM Card to activate the phone. Really, it have a SIM Card, but isn't working, the carrier deactivated it and ever says: "No Service".
Should i restore it by iTunes to iOS 6.1.6?
    Thank you!

Your iPhone just needs to have a SIM in it in order for the restore to complete - the SIM does not need to be active. As long as it's present in the phone, the restore should complete unless there's another issue with the phone

  • Iphone not recognizing SIM card

Since I bought my Iphone about 5 months ago, a few times it would say that there is no SIM card inserted, when in fact there had been one. I would remove and reinsert the card or do a hard shut down and restart and the problem would go away. Yesterday, as I was scanning my applications a error message came on saying it did not recognize a network. Then I noticed the functions on would not work. Basically it froze. So I restarted it. Once the apple logo went off there was an icon of a USB to be connected to iTunes, with no other functions working. I then patched it to my laptop and the error message on the laptop said that there was no SIM card in the Iphone. thinking its a SIM card problem I inserted someone elses SIM in my iphone. Same problem. I inserted my SIM in another iphone. No problem. It was not a SIM card issue. Without the iphone recognizing the SIM card the phone could not even be reset.
I took the phone to the Service provider in Malaysia MAXIS. They said the iphone is defective and had to be taken in for repair. The problem is they will most probably replace the phone, However there policy with Apple they say is that I have to WAIT 6-8 WEEKS for a new set. How ridiculous is that?
The worry I have now is that all my apps that I bought, what will happen to them? All the online games that I have been leveling up for months, what happens there? I could never sync my phone with my laptop when it came to the apps. It just would not sync!
It is disappointing to think that Apple does not have a solution to customer software and program issues.

You're right - it is ridiculous however thats not a decision made by Apple, but by Maxis. If Apple were asked to rpovide immediate replacements, they would do so and Maxis would have to pay the price. Under warranty, in other countries we can go into an Apple store and get an immediate replacement.

  • IPhone with GoPhone SIM card

I intend on seeing my 2 year contract through, which expires June 30. I was thinking that maybe I could buy a prepaid Go Phone, swap the SIM card with my iPhone and then only pay as I need. The truth is that I am usually near a regular phone and I don't really need to pay for cell service anymore.
    Will this work?

    I don't believe so.
Although it is possible to use your iPhone's activated SIM card with another AT&T carrier locked phone or with an unlocked GSM phone, it isn't possible to use a SIM card from another AT&T carrier locked phone with your iPhone without activating the SIM card with your iPhone. The SIM card used with the iPhone is "married" to the iPhone's IMEI number.

  • How to insert the sim card

How do you insert the sim card to iPhone 4

On the side of the phone, you should see a little slot that you can see in this picture:
Place a bent paperclip or sim card removal tool if you have one into that black hole and the sim card tray should pop out. You can then insert a new sim.

  • I recently updated the itunes software and now my iphone wont detect the sim card! what do i do?

I recently got my iphone unlocked because i wanted to change my carrier. today when i connected my iphone to the itunes it started updating the software! all my previous data was erased and now it wont detect the sim card! what do i do?

Updating iTunes has nothing to do with an iDevice going into recovery mode.
If the device is in recovery mode, restore it via iTunes on a computer.
