iPhone event alarm choices button & other enhancements
1 Upon Event Alert a multi-choice button would appear with the following single-tap selections:
a. Jump Ahead
b. Open Alert
c. Complete
2 The Jump Ahead time can be pre-set in options.
3 Upon appearance of the Alert Action Selection button and when the Jump Ahead button is held for some time period a “leap-up” track zooms up where one can slide one’s finger up and down to increase and decrease the jump ahead minutes.
4 Lifting a finger after sliding holds the selection, tapping selects it, holding down lets one slide the time again.
5 Option selection so that alerts are always on when a new event is created.
6 Option selection so that alerts are annunciated at selected intervals for a selectable duration with ability to set defaults to these. The cycle would begin again when the iPhone was activated.

You're going to want to force it in recover mode thent o restore the device, unplug it from the computer, hold down the home button replug it back in intil you see the Itunes symbol with an arrow pointing towards it

The App Store really needs a Wish List component

I love the App Store and the thousands of offerings, but with so much to browse, it would be helpful to have a Wish List component so that I could "park" things for later study. After viewing many, many apps, I sometimes fortget just where I saw a particular one. I'm not always ready to buy on the spot. A WL would solve that problem.

I totally agree, I'm a DJ, and buy a lot of music, so I need to be sure that I really want that music. A want list would make it so much easier. A friend of mine don't use iTunes store because they don't have one.
I also think that they should have 1 minute samples instead of 30 seconds.

Basic questions on iPhone apps. Please help!

Hey I have a few semi-basic questions about iPhone apps. If you know the answers to any of them please respond as it would help me ton. Even if you dont know the exact answer, it'll help me with any input. Trapster is a good example of what im looking for because it uses a map and it receives/sends small amounts of data constantly.
1) How much on average does it cost to hire a group of people to code an app for you. Specifically, how much do you think the app Trapster took to program? Are there any specific other apps you know how much it took to code? I need estimates, because I have nothing. A number like 50,000 would help a ton more other then saying "it depends" .....
2) Apps like Trapster, send and receive small amounts of data all the time? What controls all of this data? Im guessing a server. But what are the server's specs? How many? Price per month?
3) With 3.0 SDK now out, you are now allowed to implement google maps into 3rd party applications. Now I know you cannot use it for turn-by-turn navigation. But can you still use the directions feature already on google maps? Can you still use the search feature to search for a restaurant as well? Or maybe you can just see the map and thats it. Does anyone know exactly what you can use with google maps or know where there is more information? Ive tried everywhere.
4) Just tell me if this is correct: You can add advertisements into your app. On average, for every 1000 times your app gets opened, you get about 1.00-2.00. So if your app gets opened 2,000,000 times you get $2,000 from advertising if you get 1.00/1000. Is that accurate as an average?
5) Since 3.0 now supports push notifications, would you be able to have anything at all running in the backround? For example, on trapster, if you approach a red light camera, the app beeps. With 3.0, if you are on the home screen and approaching the camera, is there a way of getting the iphone to beep even though your just on the iphones main screen or any other screen? Im guessing not because in order to receive the push the iphone needs to know your current location and the location of the camera, which is why the app would need to be running. Incase im wrong is there a way of doing this?
6) If an app is free and does not do advertising, does it make any money? If so how?

Of course.
It's called 'reputation earned'. You negotiate your future based on attention from something (a free app?) that amazes the known world. Could be a book deal after you spend your young/old life crossing the divide - could be a marriage proposal that brings great wealth - could be a cabinet position with a station in a foreign tax haven.
Use your imagination.
As for cost, pull a number out of your hat and then double it...then double it again. Same goes for time, staff and delays.

IPhone developers, please read...

If your question is specific to the iPhone, please clearly indicate that in the subject of your posting. The iPhone SDK is apparently quite different that the Mac API. A couple of times I have answered some questions incorrectly because I didn't know someone was working with the iPhone SDK. I have also seen the reverse, where someone answered a Mac question with an iPhone response that might not be appropriate.
Most of the time, I can tell right away that a question is about the iPhone and I can ignore it. I have nothing against the iPhone and I may play with it in the future. But for now, I'm clueless about it and I don't want to provide useless and incorrect answers.

That is the only official feedback site that is guaranteed to get the issues in front of the people who actually work on the things you're reporting about. Even if you get a "Duplicate Report" message for every bug you file volume of reports about an issue can help move it to the top of the queue.
Apple does pay attention and track issues reported here - especially for beta releases - so good, clear, concise bug reports entered here helps everyone. However, if you are new to Cocoa please make sure that the problem actually lies with the thing you're reporting and not with your understanding of the thing you're reporting. Keeping the signal to noise ratio good will again help everyone involved.

IPhone App to send photos to mailings list of contacts?

My wife and I recently had our first child, and we are constantly using our iPhones to send out photos to family and friends, but the process of entering in about a dozen (or more) email addresses one-at-a-time after having selected 1-5 images from our camera rolls is getting a bit tedious.
There must be an App out there in which I can create a mailing list of my closest friends and family that I am regularly sending out photos to, and from within this App I can select the photos to be sent and it will then switch me over to the iPhone's built in mail app with my pre-determined contacts email addresses in the 'To:' field, and with all of the photos I've chosen to send in the body of the email.
Anyone know of any app that does this (or at least one that does something like it)? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

I seem to have gotten myself into a tricky situation. I use a Blackberry 9900 as my main phone and love it as I send hundreds of emails and hundreds of IMs, BBMs, Tweets etc everday. I've always envied the ease an iPhone offers in terms of speed, browsing on a larger screen and the far superior app store. Nevertheless I'm reluctant to fully trade in my Blackberry. I got a new job and have a lot of work contacts and my job involves photography, networking and promotion. I decided to find an iPhone 3G to use for this side of my life and so I could use Instagram. My friend told me her boyfriend had an iPhone 4S available as he now had the new Samsung 3 phone and I could get it for 'mates rates' I bought it for £250. I think it's a good price.
He told me it was locked to 3 and this wasn't a concern to me because it's a work phone I don't care which network I'm using. My Blackberry is on o2.
I purchased a micro sim from 3 for iPhone's and put it in to see it say 'No Service' I went into the 3 store and they told me I inserted it correctly and gave me te customer service number and let me use the in store phone to contact them. I gave them the phone information I received when I purchased it and they told me that the phone was blocked. I was so upset. I asked how can I unlock it as I'm now the owner and paid a fair amount of cash for it and they told me to contact the sellr and that he can call them for me and unblock it vert easily. I contacted him and he told me to try another sim and has since been no help.
He has assured me the phone is not faulty and that it was working for him. He gave me a print out of the warranty for he phone and it does not expire until Oct 16th 2012. Three insist when I called back that the phone isn't faulty but indeed blocked. I offered to give them his name and details to prove I knew the owner, but they will not accept this. I told him this is too much hassle and I would like my money back, he will not text me.
My friend, well she is saying that the phone worked just fine for them.
I don't know how to fix an iphone, I don't know if it's faulty or blocked. 3 wouldn't lie, but I didn't expect my friend would either.
Can I fix this on my own? I'm not usually impulsive and this is why :/
Is there anything I can download to unlock it on my own. It is essentially at this point an iTouch and if I wanted that I would have purchased that for less than I paid or this.
Any suggestions, advice on how to resolve this problem either with the phone or the people involved would be appreciated.

The previous carrier is the company Three. I bought the 3 sim and it didn't work so I went to my local Three shop and with the information I gave them they told me the phone was blocked. Is this the same as what you are saying?

Its really not a difficult function, ALL, and I MEAN ALL of your I/O belongs in a THREAD! You can use http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/9tdesxec(VS.80).aspx to update your progress dialogs. Its THAT simple. Yes, it is. Read it again, and again, and again, heck heres, a highly oversimplified example!!! Yes, feel free to use any of that...There is NO GOOD REASON as a WINDOWS APP to grab the focus EVERY 10 SECONDS! Thats just a hack to prevent windows from saying this program is not responding, and any developer sees right through it. Quit with the lazy programming, and put your I/O in a thread where it belongs (or I suppose ASynchronous I/O would be acceptable), and stop interrupting me every 10 seconds while my iPhone updates! Seriously!!! Knock Knock? Who's there? Interrupting Jeeves. Interrupting Jee....INTERRUPTING JEEVES!!!!!! yeah, iTunes is kinda like that, over and over and over again. Even better to note, the windows API for threads mostly maps pretty easily to POSIX threads, so you could do something VERY similar to the thread portion of that code, and have it work on both platforms. I've written thin POSIX layers for windows with some inline functions, and a lot of #defines. Or, you could just use a cross platform system like QT. Its LGPL now, it works on Mac OSX, Linux, and Windows, same code compiles on all three. You could easily bring iTunes to linux and open up a whole new market! That might be the smart thing to do....probably why I do stuff like this every single day...
Seriously though, and I mean seriously, PUT YOUR I/O IN A THREAD!!!!!!!!

You can't. This is Find My iPhone Activation Lock. Apple MAY be able to help if you have the original purchase receipt. Otherwise, without the original Apple ID, the device is worthless.

okay, I have pics on my iphone that need off and i can't use my phone, i need to use itunes. how do i do it, ive tried and can't see a remove photos button. it says to deselect a box and hit remove photos, where is that?

If these photos were synced then you need to connect your phone to iTunes, select the phone under devices and then the photos tab. Deselect photos or albums you want to remove.
If these photos were taken on the phone then you need to delete on your phone. Go to your camera roll and you will see an icon in the top right (a square with an arrow), select and then choose the photos and hit delete

Apple software developers please read

Many people have converted their personal spreadsheets to numbers to take them on the go. You need to give an option to password protect the numbers program. If someone steals or if I misplace my iPad, I do not want others to have access to my spreadsheets!

View Link Bug! - JDEV Developers please read.

This has to be a bug. When I am done with my project for the day I check in the files into PVCS. After check in the files are deleted off my local drive. When I recheck out my project and do a rebuild on the project, I get several View link XML files that say that they are not correct. However when I pull them up in the editor and relink them, there is NO CHANGE to the XML file that stores the DEF. Below is a sample of one of the files. If I go into this view link with the visual editor and reselect the linking nodes, all is fine in JDEV.
Is this a bug that is being worked on for the next version?

I went into his itunes account and downloaded the "find my iphone app" app under his account. When I try to log into "find my iphone" under his name on my device I get an error msg involving icloud......he is MUCH better at this stuff then I am BUT he is in school and now I need to figure out how to use the "find my iphone app". PLEASE HELP

It doesn't matter whick account you use to download the app.
You have to sign into the app (or iCloud.com from a web browser on your computer) with his Apple ID & password.
Find My iPhone will only work if it was enabled in the iCloud settings on the device and it was powered on with a connection to the internet
