IPhone APP Folders

I have a lot of apps downloaded on my iphone excess of 200
Had them neatly organized in folders.
Was working fine for a while
Not sure if anything changed but when I tried to synch with my home desktop suddenly all folders disappeared.
Tried shutting down and restarting the iphone4
Folders still gone
Then startted the process of recrating the folders again
When I organize the same online  and click synch they again disappear and I am back to all apps as is without folders
How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance

Hello I combed many threads on this.
  I finally resolved it.
if you have not performed a sync before, backup your iphone to save your folders.
If you lost your folders storing your apps
First restore the last backup of your iphone.  (You may have to do it twice.
Ie restore backup, then when sync occurs after back up. stop the sync.
Then hit restore backup.
The above was on other threads.
Now for resolving the disappearing folders do the following:
Make sure you do not have
automatic sync
First select transfer purchases on
itunes with your device/iphone
attached (this will back up your purchases to itunes).
Backup your iphone (take a mental
note or record time you backup)
Enable restrictions on iphone
-go to Settings/
General/Restrictions/ Select on
applies to install and delete
apps  (this prevents itunes from deleting your iphone data)
check sync apps
and unselect automatically sync new apps
(if itunes does not allow this and
states "warning this will remove
apps from iphone, hit okay...itunes will now try to sync and wipe out your iphone folders..)
if itunes syncs, you must slide to cancel sync
on your iphone to retain your folders.
Now you should see your iphone
display no longer grayed out on
the itunes/computer display  and your folders will
be the same on your iphone and will appear on itunes on your computer.
At this point deselect
automatically sync new apps on the
left display of itunes.
Now check any apps in the itunes under the "checked sync apps" box
that may have had their check marks removed in the prior sync process and you should see all of your folders on your iphone retained and the folders will now also appear on the itunes devices display.
GO about further organizing your folders on the itunes/computer display,
Now  sync, and your folders will be retained on both itunes and your iphone.  Finally resolved.
The disappearing folders seems to occur when one uses two computers for syncing.  Prior to this method my folders would disappear. No more.
Good luck.

  • IPhone apps folders

Does anybody know what is needed to see the iPhone apps folders, just like in the pic below?
    Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Ubuntu natively does that, but I don't know what package I need to be installed in Arch to allow that. As you can see on the left side of the image, there are two mountpoints, one for the iPhone root folder and the other containing some of the iPhone installed apps.

I just had this happen this evening - I spent hours categorizing everything, had it down to a lean 4 or 5 screens, and had sync'd a few times. After the last sync, however, they were all reset to alphabetical, unfoldered order.
One odd thing I remember prior to the sync wiping the app layout is that I had one app that appeared to be installed twice - it was visible both in a folder and on the main screen in iTunes (I don't know if it actually appeared twice on the phone itself). I think it was AAA Triptik (couldn't tell you for sure, since everything after page 11 is missing, and that only goes up to 'R'). I clicked on the cross to delete one instance of it (from the main screen, not the folder) - this prompted me to uninstall the app. I was fine with that since I don't have any saved data - I sync'd and it uninstalled the app. Don't know if that's what also clobbered the layout. I then re-checked the app in iTunes and sync'd again so it'd get reinstalled.
Not looking forward to doing this again... :-/

  • Itunes messing up my app folders

    Hei.
    I have the following problem:
    - I installed itunes on my new computer
    - transfered the apps to itunes
    - Now I want to sync - itunes tells me that all my apps are replaced
and at the same time I can see that all my folders are not there anymore.
How can I tell itunes that my iphone app folders should be transfered to itunes?
    Help appreciated

  • I can't find older emails in my Yahoo account or iPhone app BUT I am able to see them on my Mac Mail version of email. sent emails are OK.

... for the past few months i have noticed that emails in my inbox Yahoo mail account older than a few weeks keep disappearing. i cannot find them in my Yahoo account or iPhone app BUT i can see them on my Mac Mail version of email. Emails that i have stored into folders in my yahoo account are still there... same with my sent emails... it's just the Inbox emails.. strange, very strange. I don't know how to 'move' the emails from my Mac Mail  back to my Yahoo account.

Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

  • Viewing iphone apps on ipad

    Hello Everyone,
I recently bought an iPad2. When I synced it to my iTunes account, I knew that all of the apps I have purchased that work on the iPad and iPhone would be transferred to my iPad. I didn't think any iPhone only apps would be transferred. However, when I went to the App store to look at the iPad versions of my iPhone apps, it shows that the iPhone versions are installed on the iPad, but I don't see the icon. I can search the iPad and find the iPhone only app and open it but again I cannot find out how to open this just by selecting its icon. Is there a setting or something where I can have the iPhone only apps show up on the iPad? Thanks.
    -gigascott

Unless you de-selected the apps on the Apps tab when syncing to your computer's iTunes then all compatible apps would be synced - only those where you might have a high enough iOS version or iPhone apps which require full phone capability wouldn't be synced.
On the iPad all apps should show, there is no 'hide iphone apps' settings (though some apps can be hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions, in which case they wouldn't show up in searches). If you can only find the apps via the spotlight search screen but not just by going through your homescreens, then how many homescreens have you got - there is a limit of 11, after which apps can only be accessed via the search screen, though you can use app folders to make of them 'visible'

  • Creating App Folders

I am trying to organize my IPAD by using app folders. I read you can press down on the icon and it then shakes, then you can drag it to another icon and it will create a folder. When I do this it just rearranges the icons. Is there a way to create app folders? I would also like to create email folders if possible.
    Thanks,
    Dave

As was explained in the response to your other post on this issue, this will be possible when version iOS 4.2 comes out later this month. You can currently do it on the iPhone if you have iOS 4.0 or higher.

  • App Folders Removed when Sync to New Macbook

    Hi there,
I just bought a MBP 13" and was trying to sync my iPhone 3GS (on OS 4.0.1) to the new MBP.
I restore my phone first. Then I "Transfer Purchases" from my iPhone Apps to iTunes.
After that I tried to sync my iPhone to the new iTunes.
But, it turned out that my iPhone does not have the folders that I originally have. All the apps are still in my iPhone.. they were all synced. But it's just that the folders which i have created are gone. Hence i have to recreate my folders again.
    Pls help.

    Doris,
Your iPod can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time.  If you try to sync it to a new computer/iTunes library the process will erase what is currently on the iPod and replace it with the content that is now in your new iTunes library.  If possible, copy your entire iTunes library from your PC to your Mac first.  Here are a few ways to do it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
One way to do it is to use your iPod Classic as an external hard drive and copy it that way.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329
Otherwise, you'll need to use one of the methods described in this Apple support document to copy content from your iPod back to your Mac.

  • Maximum number of app folders

Can anyone tell me what is the maximum number of app folders one can have in the iphone?
    Thanks

You can create up to 11 Home screens and you can put up to 12 apps in a folder, you can create up to 16 folders per home screen.  You will of course be unable to move some of the preinstalled apps into folders so you should bear that in mind.

  • I can't see my apps & folders in the newest iTunes?

On the latest version of iTunes, I can't view my device (iPhone5) or manage the apps or folders on the iPhone5. I can sync my iPhone, transfer purchases from my iPhone, Backup or Restore from Backup. I used to be able to see a pic of my homescreen and manage apps & folders, but no longer can.

I assume that you have already powered down and restarted the entire network.
The next thing to check is this:
Click anywhere on the open desktop so that the Finder menus appear at the top of the screen
Click the Finder menu, then click Preferences
    Click the General tab
Under the heading of Show these items on the desktop, make sure that there is a check mark next to Connected Servers
You may need to restart the entire network again.
    Any help?

  • Scrolling inside app folders?

Why Apple has not yet been made scrolling inside app folders? such as Cydia...
It would be very convenient, the screen will have less "screen-pages"! Now in my iPhone 7 "screen-pages"!
Sometimes i need quickly run an app and i waste to many time to find needed app!
I need scrolling in app folder but i don't want to do jailbreak....
Let's ask Apple to add this feature all together!

If you want to find a app just press the home button when your on your homescreen this will take you to search iPhone then just start typing the name of it and you can go on it from there rather than hav8ing to find it

  • Can Iphone Apps icon and Siri be restored?

Lost my iPhone "APPS" icon and "Siri" to speak questions, etc.  Can they be restored?

They are a part of iOS and as such cannot be removed.
Check all folders and homescreens for the App Store icon, if it still cannot be found, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.
There is no icon for Siri... it is either on or off.
    Settings > General > Siri > ON

  • Accidentally erase my iMac from Find my iPhone App

I accidentally erase my iMac from Find my iPhone App.,
Is it able to recover by target disk mode?
What is erase method of this function? Normal erase or Secure erase?

I solved the problem by follow Matt's suggestion.
I can (almost) recovered all my files with deep scan option in the program Data Rescue.
But it is restructured form, jpeg pictures are moved in one folders then you have to manually arrange them again.
    Anyway, better than nothing
In conclusion, if you accidentally erase your iMac with Find my iPhone app.
    1. iMac harddisk will be format, not securely, you can recover them.
    2. You need 2 computers, and one thunderbolt cable. (Firewire in the older model)
    3. Using Target Disk Mode (press T while booting, after the signal) at the source computer.
    4. Data Rescue (or other recovery software) need to installed in another computer
    5. Use "Deep Scan" method, it will takes like 7 hrs to scan 1TB harddisk
    6. The files that recovered will be unstructured, (the one that structured is not working)
    7. You might need the larger capacity harddisk than the one you recovering. (in this case 1.5TB or 2TB)
    8. It will takes another 4-6 hours in recovering files.

  • HT204266 App Folders?

how do i create separate folders for my apps?

On your device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch), press and hold an app until they start to shake, and then drag one of them (not too quickly) over and on top of another app - you should then get a folder created with those two apps in it. There is a limit of 20 apps in an iPad folder, and 12 on an iPod or iPhone. You can also rearrange your apps when connected to your computer's iTunes - select the device on the left-hand side of iTunes and on the Apps tab on the right-hand side you can use the screen mock-ups to move your apps and create/update folders, and then apply/sync those changes to the device.
There should be a bit of info about app folders in the device's manual : http://support.apple.com/manuals/
