IPhone app partially downloaded, can't delete it

I started a download of a huge app and stopped it partway. Now I would like to delete the partial download, but the little X does not appear on the icon. I can't delete it via sync, either. Does anyone know the procedure for removing this partial download from my phone? Thanks

OK i've had the same problem (but with an ipgod touch 4th gen). here is why, if you disconnect ur ipod/iphone to wifi and the app is partially downloaded then the app will turn grey and say waiting...
do not turn off/restart your ipod/iphone, it only makes things worse.
you have to go back to where you were connected to wifi/internet and wait for it to continue the download.
you have to finish downloading an app to delet it.
hope this was helpful.

  • App not downloading, can't delete

The app didn't download properly. I tried to delete it by holding down on it until it wiggles. It wiggles but there is no X to delete it. Is it possible to delete this somehow without wiping the whole thing?

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions...
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Select your iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window.
Select the Apps tab. Deselect the box next to the app you can't delete. Click the Sync button bottom right corner of the iTunes window.

  • I have 28,000 unread e-mails on my iPhone 5.  How can I delete without having to select each one under edit?

Sounds like the email account is a POP account and if so, you have 28K emails that remain at the incoming mail server for the account. If all received email has been downloaded with the email client on your computer used for accessing the account, delete all email that remains at the incoming mail server. You can do this via webmail access for the account using a browser on your computer.
Folllow this by deleting and recreating the account on the iPhone.

There are two ways to get rid of them on your iPhone:
    1.  Get rid of them on your computer, and then sync your iPhone to your computer using iTunes.
    2.  Plug your iPhone into your computer, open iTunes, click on your iPhone's row on the left, go to the "Photos" tab on the top right, and uncheck "Sync Photos", then click "Apply" in the lower right.

No, nothing you can do to track it if you did not take any measures before the loss.

Can you access in on icloud.com and delete the event?  If not, and force-quitting didn't help, try going to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Calendars, choose Delete from Mac when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then restart your Mac and go back and check Calendars again.

Your post somehow found its way to a little-viewed forum for an obsolete Apple hardware made before 1998. I have asked the Hosts to move you to a more appropriate and active forum for your iPad.

In Find my iphone apps. You can see that the phone is online but location services off. How that happened?

You'll have to turn location services on in order to track it on a map.  To do this, go to Settings>Privacy>Location Services.

  • Downloaded app that I can't delete because it says it is open, but I can't see it open anywhere to close it!

I downloaded Boom (some sort of speaker app) that I don't want (it was part of a bundle) and now that its free trial has ended it has muted ALL sound on  my computer.  I can't select internal device for speakers, it just reverts right back to Boom.  So delete Boom, right?  Except I can't.  In finder it tells me it can't delete it because it is open.  But I can't find it open anywhere -  not in my dock, not with command+tab, no window...  How do I find it and get it the *bleep* off my computer so I can get sound back?!

  • Built-in music app malfunction, how can I delete and reinstall?

The built-in music app on my iPad 2 is not working.  When I get into it all I get is a black screen with the ability to play one song from one album.  I get the albums, songs, artists, etc menu across the bottom of the screen, but nothing happens when I select these. Does anyone have any suggestions? do I need to delete and reinstall the app? If so, how can I do this, as I can't find the music app anywhere to download and reinstall ....

You can't delete and re-install it as it's one of the built-in apps. Have you tried closing the Music app completely and seeing if it works properly when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Music 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Music app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • I have a folder of pictures on my iPhone 4 that I can't delete right off my phone.

I have a folder of photos on my phone that I can't delete right off my phone. I want to get rid of the photos but they won't let me delete them directly off my phone. Is there a way I can get rid of them?

Photos that are synced to the iPhone cannot be deleted directly from the iPhone itself. To delete them try these steps:
To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.
