IPhone app screen size set up in Photoshop

I'm designing an iPhone app in Photoshop. I want to work in 2X size.
What size should I set the screen up in Photoshop to be able to export UI images and icons accurately?
Should I use an iPhone 5 or iPhone 6 screensize?
These are both 2X png but screensizes are different, therefore UI exported for the @2X size will differ depending on which screensize I first decide to start with.

If you choose File > New and choose the Mobile App Design preset, you'll find the Size menu already lists most recent iPhone screen sizes including the 6 and 6 Plus.
Mylenium's link is very helpful; if you go there and go to Icon and Image Sizes there's a table of dimensions for all of those things.
If you have Photoshop CC 2014, you can set up Generator and Extract Assets to export layers (e.g. button designs) to multiple pixel dimensions automatically. That will be a lot easier and faster than manually sizing/cropping/exporting.

    Anyone know if there's a way to view live streamed iPhone 6+ App on the laptop?  Directly connected.  Just want to mirror the iPhone screen.

  • IPhone app image size and resolution?

    The icon and image creation guidelines specify all of the custom icons and images that I need to create for my app in two sizes: one for the iPhone 3 screen (and earlier) at 163 pixels per inch; and one for the iPhone 4 screen at 326 pixels per inch. While this guideline specifies the image sizes in pixels, I am unable to find any reference to the required resolution in pixels per inch. Should I save the images at 163 and 326 pixels per inch respectively?

      As I said it makes no difference to viewing, all things being equal, only to downloading the resultant image if needed for printing.
    If you were concerned with print quality you would probably save on maximum image quality -12 in resizing - but up to 90% - save for web - would make hardly a noticeable difference, except for file size.
    You can reduce image quality to optimize file size using the slider in save for web and by looking at the before and after preview.
    If using jpeg, it’s also possible to select progressive, which loads from top to bottom, without the user waiting for the full image to load.
    There really is no point in using 1000 dpi which only blows the pixel dimensions way beyond even the best HD monitor, capable of displaying 1920 x 1080p

    stage.fullScreenWidth returns 960
    stage.fullScreenHeight returns 640
    stage.stageWidth returns 1000
    stage.stageHeight returns 750
    If I listen to Event.Resize, the values will be the same. But the IPhone 6+ screen sizes much more.
    How should I fix this ?
    My options:

    According to the release notes at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air.html published on Oct 2, 2014, the following issues exist:
    [iPhone 6 Plus] Wrong screen size and dpi is returned through the runtime APIs.
    [iPad 3 and later]iPhone Launch image([email protected]) appears on iPad if iPhone launch images are packaged along with iPad launch
    images.
    [iPhone 6 Plus] [Launch Image]: Blank frame appears instead of launch image when only [email protected] is packaged with application.
    Have these been addressed? If not, what is the status of these problems?
    I do not have an iPhone 6 or 6 plus, so I can't test this; but I am eager to publish my app with full support for iPhone 6 and 6 plus.

  • Screen Sizes

    I develop forms based on my screen size, set at 800x600.
    Therefore, the forms are stretched all the way to the bottom
    without any white space.
    However, when other peole use the form on their computers
    with different settings, the forms appear half the size of the
    screen and there is a lot of space at the bottom.
    How can I automatically stretch the form to fit each
    different screen size/setting, is that possible ?

    Let's say you have a form that has 10 text boxes on it and it
    fits nicely on a 800x600 screen. On a 1024x768 monitor you would
    have 224 pixels of white space at the bottom.
    So do you want to take that 224 pixels and spread out your
    text boxes, adding 24 pixels between each one? Or do you want to
    increase the font size and the height of the text boxes, basically
    magnifying what you see at 800x600?
    FYI, JavaScript has two variables - screen.width and
    screen.height.

    Don't know what "the apps" are; they won't happen all at once. It will happen for an individual application when the developer chooses to make a new version available.

    Can the iphone 4s be set up to wake to the apps screens instead of whatever app was being used when the phone was locked?

    The iPhone returns to whatever state it was in when the screen locked.  So if you had an app open/active, it will return to that.  If you close the app (press the home button) before locking the screen, it will return to the app screen (the page of it at least, you were on at the time you locked it).
    But, there is no way to have it auto-close an app when the screen automatically locks.

    Trying to determine a best practice for setting or detecting the screen size. For playbook and iOS, I can set them. But for Android, the number of devices is too large so I'd rather detect. My first choice is to use the stage.stageHeight and stage.stageWidth. This works fine if I set my stage properties with standard meta data:

    Thanks for the quick response! However, for some reason the heightPercent & widthPercent metadata tags are not working as expected for me.
    I have a wrapper class that I target for compiling, WagErgApplePhone.as where I've got my metadata

    sets some stage properties
    stage.quality=StageQuality.LOW;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;

    i have a function which is called via a button press event by the user, and stage.stageHeight traces out correctly (320) there. that's what makes me think that if i wait long enough, i can get the correct stageHeight before init/drawing. but i'm not sure what event to listen for, or if there's another trick.
    if i use Capabilities.screenResolutionX and Capabilities.screenResolutionY the correct values are provided for mobile, but these values are not useful for the desktop and web version of the app. if there's no other solution, i'll execute different code depending on platform.
    again, for reference, my app descriptor:
