IPhone apps are grey and undeletable

I just got an iPhone 5c and restored the information I wanted from an old back up from my iPod 5, and only a handful of the apps fully downloaded, leaving 2/3 of them grey (like they're about to download), and I can't click on them, delete them, or redownload them. I can open them if I go to the App Store, but getting onto Facebook like that every time is a big pain. Any suggestions? Thanks!

This happened to me last week and we went on a trip and I didn't wont to use data. Try turning it all the way off and back on.
Also did you recently sync it to a computer or Mac to back up or download because that may be the problem.
Umm.. Are you connected to wifi? I let it sit there for a few days and held it down to act like I was gonna delete them then I did. It might be something wrong with i cloud but this is all i know. Sorry if this didnt help. Hope it did.

Either it is installing/downloading.
or waiting its turn to download the update.
Hard to say without more information on what exactly yoru doing as this is occurring.

Ipad apps are greyed and say waiting, but can open them from app button

The apps were reloaded after the ipad was reset, but only about 1/3 loaded. The rest are grey, and say "waiting" under them. In the app icon, they all show up as loaded, and can be opened, but from the home screen, nothing happens when the app is tapped.

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

Were they purchased from the iTunes store? If so try re-downloading them to your phone through the iTunes app.

Nothing is stored on the sim card on an iPhone. If you backed up to your computer the backup will contain your calendar events. Otherwise, if your phone isn't functioning there is no way to back up or extract your calendar at this point.

Okay. I am totally in a bad situtation. I have IOS 6 and 2 things have gone wrong. The Music app where you have your music, is bad. I have songs and stuff. And when i touch a song nothing happens. Thanks. I can change the forwarding settings in Gmail to be either POP or IMAP. That is quite simple. I just looked at those settings on the Gmail server and, to my surprise, both are enabled. In order for outlook client on my computer to receive IMAP emails I have to change the email account settings in my current outlook from POP to IMAP. I don't need to be using the Exchange version of Outlook to receive IMAP. I guess I'll do a little research tomorrow on Exchange so i can figure out what, if anything, it might do for me.
I glanced at the link you sent me and it looks like it might be very helpful - another project for tomorrow.
BTW: I hit "This Solved my Question" by accident. I meant only to "like' your response so you would get some benefit from the help you've given me so far. I hope I haven't discouraged others from taking a shot at helping me. Manually Manage Music option is GONE...when I plug in my IPHONE (which is already synced to this computer) I can no longer manually manage songs. I have already opted to do this but all my songs are grey and it won't allow me to manage ANY songs?

You will need to restore your phone as a new one using the itunes on your computer. This WILL erase everything on the phone but it will let you change the name of the phone and then you can add content to it.

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Trying to update my apps...all apps are greyed out and say waiting.

Maybe one of these suggestions will work. Ignore any that you have already tried.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

First, in iTunes, launch Preferences and go to the Devices tab. Check the date and time of the last backup. If it is recent you can restore it. However, if you mean you have the photos back in your Camera Roll then the backup was already restored. To get your music and apps back it should just be necessary to click "Sync".

I'm assuming that Rosersberg is in Sweden (?). If it is then you are in a country where music can't currently be re-downloaded from the store, only apps and ibooks. If you still have your old computer with your music on it then you should be able to copy it over from it e.g. via file sharing, an external drive : copying content.

thank you for the help. I should have said I had a iphone 3. A friend has the same phone and she showed me how she can see what web pages are open when she double taps the home button. Mine is set to bring up favourites when I double tap (chosen from settings>general>home button).. BUT my choices are only HOME; SEARCH; PHONE FAVORITES; CAMERA or IPOD. I changed my choice to HOME but that just defeats the purpose as when I am at the home page and double tap nothing happens. Am I making sense?

SO, do I delete the app off of both the old 3g phone AND the imac, then reinstall on ONLY the imac, then re sync? OR, should I delete off computer, repurchase on computer then re-sync with new iphone4? I realize this is kind of roundabout, but the issue I ran into was too much stuff on my old 8GB 3G, and I was stuck on iOS3 FOREVER (couldn't upgrade to iOS4) soooo, I deleted a whole bunch of piddly apps from the phone ONLY, which then allowed me to update to iOS4 (on the 3G). Then, I could sync (which I did, but obviously not everything transferred, b/c when I synced the new 32 GB iphone 4, there are particular apps {doodle buddy and groove, my tap fish...} that are missing the in app purchases, but these are still on the old 8GB 3G). I am so confused....
