IPhone Apps must also run on iPad without modification, at iPhone resolution, and at 2X iPhone 3GS resolution

Hello everyone,
I am new at developing apps and my first try at submitting was rejected for the reason I put as the title of this thread. I submitted an appeal and am waiting to hear back. My question is, how do I make the app compatible with iPad even though I designed it only for iPhone? Also, is it absolutely necessary that it also work on iPad or does anyone know of a way around this? When I uploaded it, I selected that it was for iPhone use and not iPad.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure how to edit the original post but it looks like I will have to make it compatible with iPad before it can be approved. Anyone with any experience with this?

Yes you can (unless they are apps that require the iPhone's full phone capability - I have some apps on my iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch
If they are designed just for the iPhone/iPod Touch then they will just take up that sized portion of the screen. There will be a '2x' button on the screen, but that effectively just doubles the size of each pixel in both directions, so it may then appear pixelated.

i have already try the copy/paste thing with the ID of the file "iTunes Music Library.xml" it didn't change a thing. each time I relaunched Itunes, the ID is the first I have in the MAC.
I have more than 5 000 files of music. I don't want to recreate one by one all my playlits.
    Many thnaks for your answers.

You can sync iphone with one and only one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, it will erase the current content and replace with content form the new computer.  There is no way around this.
Put everything on one computer and sync from there.
BTW, you posted in the Home Share forum.  Your question seems to have nothing to do with home share.

You are not speaking to Apple here. So none of us can "fix it."
TRy try quitting the Photos app followed by a reset of the ipad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • How to download an app to both of my ipads without downloading twice

I downloaded a new app to one of my ipads.  How can I get it onto the other ipad without downloading it twice?

Connect that iPad to a computer, use the Transfer Purchases function, and then sync the other iPad with the iTunes library.

  • I purchased a new ipad 3.  I have all of my apps synced to the new ipad.  Can I now Erase and Delete all of the data off the old ipad without effecting my account?

I purchased a new ipad3 and have gotten all of my previously purchase apps loaded.  Can I now perform an erase and delete all data on the old ipad without doing harm to my itunes account and my new pad?

I just bought the new iPad over the weekend. Restored from the old iPad backup - got everything moved onto the new one gave the old one to my daughter - wiped my 4 email accounts off of the old device and then she proceeded to delete all but about 3 apps from the thing. It had no effect on my new iPad.
    You are good to go!

  • ITunes apps won't sync with iPad without deleting all the apps already on the iPad!

I've been using my iPad with iCloud sync for a while and now have decided to go back to iTunes sync. I have a bunch of apps i downloaded on the iPad from its app store and want to keep them. However, when i go to the Itunes app section (which is grayed out) and select the sync apps button, all the apps on my iPad in the preview screen disappear!!! How can i sync apps from my computer and keep the apps already on the iPad?

Ditto. Even the new 2.0.1 firmware made no difference. I've had no luck with iTunes in this dept at all. I can download apps to the phone, but they won't sync back to iTunes. If I download apps to iTunes, not only will they not transfer to the phone, but all the apps on the phone get wiped w/o warning.
I've tried the following per Apple suggestions, but to no avail:
    - Reset iPhone (the home and lock button method)
    - Remove (I manually deleted all content little by little)
    - Reset Settings (done thru software, don't know how this differs from "reset iPhone" above)
    - Restore - a Huge pain in the *** for nothing. Took forever and obviously I then had to manually put all my songs, ringtones, contacts and photos back on it.
What else is there left to try?

  • The Apple ID has been changed on my iPad but the apps won't update with the new id and password, including the apps that came with the iPad so I can't delete and reinstall with new Apple ID

What do you do if you have bought a used iPad and the apps won't update without the original id and password.  Can't delete the apps that come with the iPad and reinstall them so what do I do?

Correct. An app can only be updated under the Apple ID that was used to orginally acquire the app. If that is a problem you can delete the app and download again under the new userid. If you paid for the app you will have to pay again. Your old Apple ID does not go away so there is no reason to not use it to download the apps.
You cannot delete the apps that came with IOS. If you want to "hide" the apps simply put the apps into an application folder by dragging one app onto another. You can do this to all the IOS apps.

  • Is 3.1.3 also running on iPad? Or was it 3.2?

I watched the keynote and thought it was 3.2 running on the iPad, maybe I'm mistaken. But if so, wouldn't it be logical this iPhone update would be 3.2 as well?

I watched the keynote and thought it was 3.2 running on the iPad, maybe I'm mistaken.
It was a beta version of 3.2 running on the iPad.
But if so, wouldn't it be logical this iPhone update would be 3.2 as well?
Not really... 3.2 is still in beta so clearly isn't ready to be released yet. Also, just because the iPad is running 3.2, doesn't necessarily mean the iPhone will. iPhone users may jump straight to v4.0 - we don't know until Apple releases it.

  • I can not go from one app to another on my iPad without a hard reboot

I have just bought an iPad mini and my husband has a regular iPad. Neither one of us can move from one website or application to another without  rebooting. I have no problem with my pc laptop. We are next to the router and the security is WPA-2 with AES.

    Hi Marciaztx,
Perform a Reset on the iPad (different from just restarting).
Hold down on both the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears. When you see the Apple logo on the black screen, let go of the buttons. This “reset” fixes a lot of iPad issues and might work for your app switching issue.
    Hope this helps!

  • I am running 10.6.8 on an iMac7,1 with 2.4GHz, 4Gb RAM.  Other than usual Apple apps, I also run Microsoft Office for Mac.  Am i better off upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks rather than trying to go to Yosemite ?  Thanks!

I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on an iMac 7,1 system with 2.4GHz processor and 4Gb RAM.   I also use Microsoft Office for Mac.
I am wondering whether i should upgrade to Yosemite or first go to Mountain Lion or Maverics to avoid sluggishness and other potential issues with using Yosemite on this iMac.

i had thought Snow Leopard was no longer supported hence my idea to upgrade.
It isn't being supported any longer.
If you haven't done this you might want to consider doing it for security.

  • Is there any way to load music onto my iPad without going to the computer and iTunes?

    Hi,
My iPad is sync's with iTunes over WiFi. Is there any way of pulling songs/albums down to the iPad from my iTunes music collection (not iTunes purchases)?
Or am I forced to have to drive this from a seat in front of iTunes directly?
    Thanks
    Phil

The sync manually is fine. I don't use iTunes match. I just want to drive the selection of songs and the sync from the ipad rather than from the computer. There are 5 iPads in the home owned by different family members with different music tastes. It would be good if they could make the selections themselves.
The goal is to have the songs synchronised with the iPad so that they are available away from the home and off of a network.
    Cheers

  • Apple Support Says You Can't Activate an iPad without iTunes?

So got a new iPad, activated it over wifi, and have been having problems ever since setting up my log in accounts for various services.
So I called Apple support to learn how to unify my various Apple IDs so that I can just use one going forward. They offered to help, but when their recommendations failed to solve my problem, they suggested I plug the iPad into iTunes, which I cannot do. They told me that it was impossible to activate an iPad without plugging it into iTunes, and insisted I must have done this. When I assured the Apple support member that I did not, they simply told me to take it to a Genius bar, that they couldn't help me any more. Well, the nearest genius bar is 2 hours away.
So my first question is, just who is Apple hiring for technical support these days, and are they not training them any more?
My second question is, is there anyway to leap-frog past this front line poorly trained employees and get to someone who can actually help instead of going to an Apple store?
The problem is this - my iTunes account ID is tied to an old e-mail I no longer have. So I called to change my Apple ID for all services. It now works for iTunes, and iCoud, but not Newstand, or Messenger. Apple says they don't know how to solve the problem without connecting to iTunes, yet this doesn't seem like a local iPad problem, rather an account server problem.
So not really sure where to turn after getting such ridiculously out of touch information from Apple support.

Prior to iOS 5 that was the case, one must have iTunes to activate an iPad or iPhone.  iOS5 changed all of that.  Either the tech was not aware of the change or was reading from an old script. Either way it is a training problem.

I'm assuming you used an old email address for your Apple ID.  If that is the case, and you still have the password for your Apple ID, you can log into Apple's Apple ID support and change the email associated with the ID.  Note, you will still always have to use the old email as your login name, but all email will go to the new address.  You can also create an entirely new Apple ID using your new email and use that if you wish.

  • I was wondering if there is a way to change an app from iPod version to iPad version.

  • Can i use my iPad without simcard

    Hi everyone
I have an iPad wifi + 3g, but I do not use 3g and therefore there is not installed any simcard. My problem is that my ipad keeps saying "no sim card". I have turned off mobile data, but nothing helps. The message is popping up all the time, making it virtually impossible to use my iPad. My question is therefore whether it is really not possible to use my ipad without buying a SIM card and install this?
    Thanks
    Casper ;-)

you should be able to use it just fine. I don't have a 3G version to find where things are in the settings, but somewhere in the settings you should be able to turn off the cellular antenna and just have the wifi one on.
You might also try simply giving your iPad a reset. Maybe that'll make that message go away.Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds until your iPad reboots.
