IPhone apps not opening - have tried all the usual fixes

A few days ago I got my iPhone unlocked from my provider (Telstra) as I am about to travel and wanted to put a country specific sim in it. Since then no non-Apple apps have worked.
I have tried (many times) to :-
1. restore from a previous backup (plus multiple syncs) and using different backups
2. delete an app and reinstall it
3. download a new free app (and when that didn't work I deleted it and retried installing it)
4. sign in and out of the app store on the iphone
5. sign in and out of the app store on my iMac
6. de-authorise and re-authorise my iMac
7. wipe the iPhone clean and start with a fresh install
8. And reset the device too many times.
Nothing I have found on any site has worked. I thought the wipe the phone clean would have done it but it hasn't.I have wasted about 20 hours trying to get this thing working again.
If I wasn't going on vacation tomorrow I would be at my provider getting them to fix their mess but I can't.
Can anyone help? Please?

Further - the AppleId I am using is the one I first started with years ago - where all my music and app purchases have been made. Signing out of this AppleId and then signing in using my "me.com" address and downloading an app under this address allows the new app (and only the new app) to work. And it continues to work when I sign out and sign back in with the original AppleId.
This is really annoying as I have heaps of paid apps that aren't working.

  • "Firefox is already running but not responding" - have tried all the usual solutions.

    The message I'm getting is the standard: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding." I'm using a PC with Windows 7.
    I've tried:
    - Opening task manager and manually ending the process. This didn't work because the process is not listed in applications, processes, or services.
    - Deleting the parent/lock file. This didn't work because the file is not in any of the firefox folders. I've checked APPDATA/Local/Firefox as well as APPDATA/Roaming/Firefox, and the original install folder just to be thorough. It's not a hidden file either - I have those set to display.
    - Creating a new profile and importing settings from the old one. I can't import settings because the old profile is still running.
    - Restarting before and after each of these potential solutions, including restarting in safe mode, shutting off the computer and waiting a bit before restarting, etc.
    All I really want back are my bookmarks, which I've spent quite a while creating. Unfortunately, there is no file I can find for the default profile that has the bookmarks stored. When I created a new profile, a folder appeared with its name in the APPDATA/Roaming/Firefox folder, with all of the bookmarks, etc. There is no such folder for the default profile though - which is the one I want. I've even tried switching to Chrome and importing bookmarks, but that doesn't work because the bookmarks can't be imported while Firefox is still running.

    If there is no profile present then you also get that error about "Firefox is already running but not responding"
    If you uninstalled Firefox at any time in the past and removed your personal data or deleted that profile folder yourself then you no longer have a profile to start with or restore files from.

    make sure it's not being connected to by any of the other two
    one can only connect 1 device at the time and just by waking up sometimes a headset connects to a device
    automaticly
    then forget the bluetooth device in OS X and put the headset in pairing mode / discovery mode and connect with it once again with the mac

    Subscribe to iTunes Match?
    If neither of the above and you don't have the CD and can't find your tracks on the computer then they you're stuck.  A file recovery utility will cost $100, plus another $100 for an external drive to which to resue the files, and may not even work.  You can buy a lot of CDs for $200.

  • Sync not working for long time (have tried all the usual suggestions)

    Sync stopped working for me months ago and I have not been able to get it to work again.
    I'm using Firefox 26 on two different Linux laptops and want to keep the bookmarks and history synced with them. It worked great for a long time. Then around Firefox 25 or so it stopped working. In fact, I logged into an old Linux system I hadn't used in while that still runs Firefox 24 (or maybe it's 23) the other day and it synced great with my laptop I usually use.
    I have tried all the suggestsion in the troubleshooting guide (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-sync-troubleshooting-and-tips). I tried unlinking all of my devices and linking them again. That worked to sync both laptops once, when I first relinked them, but never again. I tried creating entirely new profiles on both systems and that didn't help.
    Is Sync just broken? Why does it continue to work fine in older version of Firefox but none of the last three versions or so? Is there any way to fix this?

    I am not using a proxy server.
    Neither system is syncing with the other. It seems like they are both uploading (backing up) the history and bookmarks properly, but then not merging and syncing the changes from the other system. I know things are getting uploaded, because as I said, my third system that I don't use much anymore, with the older version of Firefox, does merge changes in history and bookmarks from the other two systems.

  • I cannot get apps  to appear in my library menu so i can update them through iTunes. Happened since update to 11.0.2.Have tried all the suggested fixes such as making  the sidebar appear etc New update is 'nasty'

    As stated no matter how hard i try i CANNOT get apps to appear in my sidebar library menu so i can update them through itunes.Has only happened since last update of itunes .Really wish i hadn't updated as i have never had an issue b4.Spent most of day on fone to apple yesterday as the update created an issue that meant i could not sync at all.Anyway thanks to 'james' in arizona we sorted the first piece of trouble the update created .(sortof).

    I've looked at lots of posts re this and tried all the suggestions but just cannot get the magic 'apps' category to appear in my sidebar in itunes???
    One suggestion was that the apps if clicked on would have an 'update ' button but all i can do is delete them

    (running osx 10.7.5 on MBP -slightly tricky cos i also run windows in a 'bootcamped' partition.Mind u itunes etc is in mac partition and has been working fine for the last 10 years!!!!!!!!!)

    I'm going to assume that you use only one Apple ID so the two things that I can think of are to quite all processes and restart all devices and then try to sync those apps again. Quit iTunes, restart your computer and the iPad and then try to sync the apps again.
    The other thing would be to try to reset your iTunes account by signing in and out of the account on the iPad. Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and then sign in to your account and try again.

    Hard reset. Hold the top lock button & Home Screen button til you see the White apple. Try camera afterwards.

    From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes.  Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue.  To update or not to update?  And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
    I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista.  My workflow dictates 32b fyi.  One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126),  5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day.  My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12)  Windows mounts it just fine.  itunes is not having it.  no shirt no shoes no service.
    I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano.  The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad!  Weird huh?  I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
    I'm at a loss on the thinkpad.  Scanned for intruders.  Cut the Lenovo bloat.  Executed system and reg maintenance.  Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail.  NO NO NO.  Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad.  Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update.  :|
    So in summary for me:
    5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^  last working version for me = 11.0.1
    5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0  but no way in the world am I updating
    4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod?

  • Apple TV does not work.  I have tried all the suggested fixes including reinstalling itunes and nothing has worked.

    My apple tv quit working and I have done everythng listed on Apple's site as well as other help sites and nothing has fixed the problem.  I have restarted and reset the apple tv, I have reinstalled itunes and I turned off and reset my router.  All to no avail.  Any suggetions?

    Port is open and router recognizes the Apple TV.  I noticed on the web that certain Apple TV's had problems and Apple was replacing the units.  I am going to take the unit to the Apple Store and have the it checked to see if it is one of the units that don't work with the latest version of itunes.

    Glad they finally added a "Home Videos" tag, but wish that it was a compeltely separate category like Music, Movies, TV Shows. Still have all my home videos tagged as a "TV Show" with track numbers to keep them in order, disc number x of 12 to indicate the month, and season used to indicate the year. Has worked nicely for years but every new version of iTunes I hope (and have suggested) that they will separate this out.
    A real way to maintain home movie metadata and organization would be much appreciated. Giving Home Videos as a tab within Movies is a start, but doesn't recognize the fact that these kinds of videos are completely different from "Movies." People scroll through or look for movies by name, home videos by date or event (more like iPhoto organizes things). Nobody wants to hunt for baby's first steps in a big alphabetical list somewhere between "The Avengers" and "Willy Wonka."

    in Finder, my iMovie folders are all visible and accessible.  When I click on a clip from iMovie Events folder, Quicktime opens and plays the clip.  ALL my video is not missing - it just isn't showing up in the Event Library!
    This happened all of a sudden, while I was working on iMovie project (on both computers).
    All my Projects are intact, and play when I open them.
