Iphone as speech enabled ebook/webpage reader
Hello. I am very interested in making my iphone capable of reading e-books and webpages out loud so that i can treat ebooks like audio books(listen to them while i walk around)
does anybody know of a way to do this?
does anybody know if any of the available ebook readers available for the iphone support speech (ie. reading books aloud)
i have used apple's voice over technology to get the iphone to speak text on web pages which works beautifully, the only problem is that when i put the iphone to sleep or it automatically falls asleep, it ceases to read the text (unlike ipod playback which continues to play the audio even when the phone is asleep)
does anybody have any suggestions on how i can get my iphone 3gs to do this?
please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas whatsoever

I found a work around. Depending on the size I was able to email the book to myself and open it in the email app on the phone and read it. It knew it was a PDF and allowed me to read it. You can also double tap to zoom in. It worked pretty good. Try that.

Did a health check on my Drive D: Issues were found and repaired. Disabled Kaspersky and tried a sync with iTunes (Success). Re-enable Kaspersky and iTunes is still working. Interesting in that I thought my iTunes only involved Drive C: What led me to problems with Drive D: were indications that there was a problem with Adobe cache for Adobe Bridge. I also purged that cache. In looking at my nightly backup there was also an indication there had been some intermittent issues of not being able to read the disk.
Bottom line... all is working again and need to continue to monitor the health of my second hard drive. -

You can go to Settings>General>Siri and make sure that Siri is turned on. That will enable the microphone in the mail and messages app, then tapping on the microphone should bring up a warning for you to enable location services.

Just curious if I'm the only one who prefers the iPhone rather than the iPad for reading ebooks. I prefer the one handed operation and I guess I got used to it over the past year before the iPad was available.
I think most people will use their Amazon Kindle account over their iBooks account. Aside from a Kindle device, you can use your native OS (iPhone/iPad/Android) and carry over your books.
iBooks has a more revolutionary graphical compared to Kindle. The Kindle just flips right away. Doesn't have the fancy graphic of actually grabbing a page, pulling it from the top downwards or curling the page before actually flipping it, or even resizing the words, or changing font type.
It also doesn't have PDF viewing. Just grabs Kindle books we've already spent our hundred dollars of collected downloadable books.
Back on hand, I'm into using iBooks over Kindle. I only have one or two Kindle books, no biggy. I just bought a handful of iBooks for the fancy graphics. I would go iPad, but I already have the i4 and I prefer internet on the go. I would have to cancel my iPhone plan and get the iPad plan which would cost me $350 now plus the restock fee plus the iPad pricing of $700-$900. Not really wanting to pay $2000 in total for all that. -
hi !? I lost my Iphone 5 and enabled lost mode. But whoever has stolen it already knows my passcode. So is it possible to change my passcode in this state ?
If you enabled lost mode, that means the device did not show up in the tracking system when you logged into iCloud. If it is offline for any reason, there is nothing you can do to it remotely. You would have to wait until or if it ever does come back online.
At this point, I'd assume it is gone. If the person who has it knows your passcode to swipe to gain access to the contents, then your information is already compromised by now. -
I have problems syncing my new iPhone 5 to iTunes. I read somewhere to disable iPhotos and that has allowed me to sync but my photos are not on my iPhone. How can I fix this?
Try updating to iPhoto 9.4.1. If it's not appearing in your Software Update yet, try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the following page on the Apple website:

I can't seem to sync my iPhone to my computer; I keep getting this message: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an error occurred while reading from this device." I get the same message with my iPad, even though they all share the same account. What can I do?
This could be caused by a USB connection issue. Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the Mac using the USB cable it came with. Also, try disconnecting all other USB devices.

Enable Commenting for Reader not working
I create a PDF file in Acrobat 8.1 and select Enable Commenting in Reader. However, the users open the file in Reader 9 and it doesn't work. I've been able to replicate this. And no matter what I do - save the file with a different name, in a different location, whatever - it never enables commenting. However, if I check the Security for the file in Reader it says commenting is allowed. I'm at my rope's end. This is how my users provide feedback so it's a really important feature for us.
Anyone know why this is happening? This was not an issue up until recently and nothing has changed (no upgrades or anything).Thanks for getting back. I am uploading a sample of PDF in which I enabled commenting but when I open it in Reader the commenting toolbar is not displayed but when you go to properties it says commenting is allowed. I also checked to make sure the files were not be saved as archive files (it is set to never save files as archives).
I am also uploading screenshots of the process I follow to enable comments and of the Reader properties dialog that shows commenting is allowed. -
I cant seem to be able to update to iOS 6.1 through my PC for my iPhone 5...The error reads: 'There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone 'Thomas Honiball'. You do not have permission to access the requested resource".... please help!!
Only developer's have access to iOS 6 now. Thus, if you are a developer you have have access to the developer's forum for iOS 6.
Otherwise you have a bootleg copy and are on yur own./ -
I have an iphone with the app GOOD to read e-mails. I sync to my other PC having first updated itunes. During sync it reported that it had removed GOOD, with out asking. Any ideas?
With the iPhone, you can sync all iTunes content with only one computer. Trying to sync iTunes content with a second computer will result in iTunes erasing the content from the first computer.

I am using OS X Mountain Lion and I have this .avi file but not able to read. What is missing in my setup and what other file do I need to download to enable me to read? I can read mp4 files though.

i am trying to update my operating software for an iphone 3g to enable me to download io5 and icloud....can I actually do this as i've tried in vain and am getting no where..added to this I am a relative novice so Im probably doing something wrong.

i am trying to sync iphone 5 to itunes but it says "iTunes could not connect to the iphone as an error occured while reading from the device " and the iphone is not seen on itunes........
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. And then reboot your computer.
See if that fixes your problem.
