IPhone (AT&T) not receiving texts from Blackberry (Verizon)

Hey Guys,
The problem is pretty much stated above. I'm on an Iphone 4s (this was happing on the 3gs as well, so I don't believe that it is an Iphone problem) - i just didn't realize it until now that it was a problem. - her phone (the blackberry. don't know the model) is working fine and recieves my text messages, but when she goes to text back, nothing...
was wondering if you guys could help, i searched the apple discussions from before, but didn't find anything all that useful. - was wondering what you guys knew so if i do have to go to AT&T or apple. i at least know something. (i'm good with technology. but it being just one phone number (that i'm aware of) is strange. - we have an unlimited data plan (grandfathered into it) and from what i understand, my friend (on the blackberry) has had no issues texting any other cell phone (or iphone) besides mine.
any ideas? - let me know if there is anything else i can do to clarify if something doesn't make sense

Note - While put under "iPhone 4s" this started under the iphone 3gs, and is still not working on my new iPhone 4s, so.. just to clarify. -- Also, I said in the title, I am on AT&T (with Iphone) and she is on Verizon (with Blackberry)

Switched from iphone to galaxy for multiple reasons. Still keeping my iPad and wanted to use my iphone for music. Now I am not receiving texts, apparently imessages, from iphone users - there is no notification either way that a message was not received. So iphone users think I have received a text when I haven't. This makes me angry with Apple as there have been medical issues in our family and I have not been receiving important communication. I also have clients I have not received texts from. My understanding is I will have to delete my iphone from my apple account completely, but then will not be able to use it at all for itunes or anything else.

If you still have the iPhone, go to Settings and turn off iMessage. If you don't have the phone or if that doesn't solve the problem, contact Apple Support and request that they deactivate iMessage. https://www.apple.com/support/appleid/contact/

It appears you have moved from an iPhone to an android phone. The problem you are having is because you did not deactivate your iMessage service before leaving.
If you still have your iPhone, you can re-activate it and then
turn on iMessage in the settings
uncheck your email and phone number
turn off iMessage
Settings>Messages
If you don't have your phone or don't want to go thru the hassle of reactivating it, you can simply call Apple at 800-694-7466 and ask them to turn off your iMessage.

I just got a droid MAXX and I'm not receiving texts from iPhones.

ok so i just switched from an iphone after having 2 for 4 years and i got a motorola droid maxx 2 days ago. i am not receiving texts from iphone users and i dont know why. i gave verizon my phone and so i cant turn off imessage but i cleared the phone before i gave it to them. i have also changed my apple i.d. and i have deactivated all my products such as my mac book pro and my two previous iphones. this is exactly why i switched because apple has to be a CULT and make everything so complicated. please help me solve apples stupidity.

That was a asinine and catty response. I and many others have the same problem. turning off imessage is not an effective solution. I have turned off imessage, deactivated the phone with apple and wiped the phone clean. the problem persists.

Recently started not receiving texts from one person - AT&T user, also HTC One

I recently started not receiving texts from one person. He also has an HTC One (older model) but has AT&T as his provider. We were texting back and forth last Friday morning (11/8) and then he called me and ever since then I have not received a single text he has sent. He is receiving all of mine and we can receive phone calls back and forth, but his text messages are not coming through. We have both tried restarting our phones and I have also tried deleting him as a contact and recreating it however nothing works. I checked to make sure he was not blocked (which I knew wasn't the case since I could receive phone calls from him as well), and even tried turning the "block contact" on and back off. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. Right now we are using work arounds with google-talk and facebook messenger but it's very frustrated for me to not receive any of the texts that his phone is saying I am receiving.
It had started sporadically over the past few weeks where I would miss a text from him every once in awhile, but now I am receiving nothing. He is the only one that I am having this issue with as I have texted back and forth with multiple others the past few days with no issues.

Hi! I'm also having the same problem. I have an iphone 5 & one person (who also has an iphone 5 but has AT&T as a provider). We had been able to send & receive phone calls & texts until mid-November. Now, we can both give & receive phone calls from each other and she receives my texts, however, I DON"T receive hers. In fact, if I'm in a group text message with her, I don't receive any of the texts that include her, even though I can give/receive texts individually from the others in the group message. The other two in the group message CAN receive both her texts & mine. This is so strange - I was left out of a whole thread of text messages & none of us knew it. They thought they were including me (nothing bounced back) & I didn't know I wasn't receiving them. Since her texting works with both of the others, I'm concluding the problem must be with my phone. Do I have an incorrect setting? I'm not sure what could have happened. PLEASE help!

Not receiving texts from US Cellular friends only

I am not receiving texts from US Cellular subscribers only. I have been told by my nice customer service people at Verizon that it is probably a US Cellular issue. This just isn't sitting well with me. I do seem to be receiving texts from other carriers (Boost, Verizon, AT&T). My iphone 4S is updated as far as I can tell. I've only had a couple of weeks and I have yet to receive any of the messages US cellular people have sent (so it's not like they are delayed, etc. I just do not receive them). I am very frustrated and do not want a different phone. The reason I changed to Verizon FROM US Cellular was for the iphone 4S. Feeling very disappointed and frustrated. Love all the other features of this phone, but as a phone (which is the purpose of the thing) it has been sub standard. Anyone else having problems receiving text messages?
I have tried : turning imessage off. rebooting phone. updating network etc (options 1 & 2). I can send messages to these same people and they receive them. They can call me, but when they send me texts they never reach me.

Not receiving texts from a Galaxy 4 mini on US Cellular provider network, but I get all other texts.

I am not receiving texts from a friend who owns a Galaxy 4 mini on US Cellular provider network, but I receive all other texts from other phones and other providers. She has never owned any Apple products, including an Apple iPhone. Other people she texts with receive her texts fine.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

That is definitely an unusual situation. I'm sure it's frustrating that it isn't working when you need it. Do either of you have trouble with texting anyone else? Try turning off Wi-Fi on both devices, and see if the problem persists or continues when using only the mobile network. Please keep us updated with this situation so we can help to resolve!

Not receiving texts from one number

As of Saturday, between the time of 4:00pm and 4:30, my phone decided to not receive texts from one number, which is an AT&T number. It was working before, and ever since then, it hasnt been able to receive texts from said number or send them to the number. I havent been able to get texts from the number either, and we both dont know why.
The thing is, I am getting texts perfectly fine from everyone else that I usually text.
I cant figure out if the number is blocked, because I am not the main owner of the family plan that I am on.

It's strange that you are having text imessaging issues with one contact. I use text messaging all the time and I am here to help! Do you have issues sending or receiving text messages to anyone else? Can you send and receive picture messages from this contact? Are you using a 3rd party messaging app? If so, please uninstall and trying using the stock messaging app. Which device are you using? Did you make sure the account owner didn't have this number blocked? Did the contact check with AT&T to see if your number is blocked? Please answer these questions so I can resolve this issue for you.

I can send and receive to any non iPhone user. I can send a message as a text to an iPhone user but if I'm not connected to cellular data or wifi I do not receive messages from iPhone contacts. From what I understand these message should automatically send to me as texts instead of iMessages but since the update it's not functioning properly. Please help. I've tried turning iMessage off and I still don't receive the messages until after I reconnect to wifi.

I have the same problem! Before the upgrade, if I wasn't connected to the internet, any messages sent to me from an iphone would convert automatically to a text message. I have payg tarriff, so I turn cell data off, as it costs too much to use it. I have wifi at home and work, but if I'm out and about, I don't receive texts from iphone users until I'm on wifi. I get them ok from non iphone users. There was never any problem until ios7

I recently got a new Samsung Galaxy S4. I registered this phone to a new number.... I did not port an existing number to the phone. Since getting the phone, I have had trouble receiving texts from iphone users - their messages will not come through on my phone unless their imessage is turned off. As you can imagine, this is quite a hassle - having to explain this problem every time I give someone my number, and several people having to change their settings every time they text me.
I've done research on this problem, and it seems that this happens when you port a number from an iphone to an android. The problem is fixed when you update your apple id account, and delete the number from the imessage service. I am concerned that my current number used to be registered to an iphone - and that the number is possibly still associated with an imessage account. I have no way of changing this, so I'm stuck.
I understand that this may be a problem that only Apple can fix, but any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

The good news is that you are absolutely on the right track. The best way to take care of this is to ensure the phone number is un registered with Apple/iMessage. You mentioned that this is a brand new phone number for you, so we would also like the opportunity to check a few things on your line as well. Do you receive any type of alert or error message when the iPhone text try to come through? Which application are you using, primarily, to send/receive text messages. Let us know! HT1349 Samsung phone is not receiving texts from iphone users

we switched from iphone to samsung galaxy and now we are not receiving text messages from some iphone users. I think their phones still think we are iphones, and they're trying to send us imessages. how do we disable the imessage association with our phone numbers?

If you still have the iPhone, use it to deactivate iMessage. Otherwise contact Apple.

Blackberry 8530 not receiving texts from at&t customers

As of monday, i can no longer receive texts from people wih at&t, yet they can get my texts. i have tried resetting my blackberry several times as well as updating my roaming capabilities by dialing *228

no one knew why i couldn't get my messages from the pop server at att/yahoo into my mail on my mac. there were no answered questions to the support topic why can i see mail activity....messages on the server, but not coming into the mail box? sending is fine, but for some reason, it suddenly stopped 3 days ago and for 3 days i searched for a fix. the only way i found this was a mail access error on the web mail thru att.yahoo where my messages showed up (they were also showing up on the i phone, not the mac)...had to verify the email....and while waiting, i found the att yahoo help page that cleared the whole problem
not removing files and putting them back in while opening and shutting mac....all the ports and ssls were checked and correct

Galaxy Nexus - not receiving texts from iPhone 4s

This morning, my girlfriend sent me a text from her iPhone 4s, synced to my computer with her Apple account, on the same contract, to my Galaxy Nexus. I kept getting texts from her, and every text I sent appeared to have sent, but she didn't get a single one from me after her first text this morning. The messaging web app gives me a "failed" error with a delivery status of "319066302769." Both phones have messaged each other fine since the day we signed the contract until today, and we've both been text messaging other people perfectly fine. My phone number has never been associated with an activated iOS device on Verizon or any other carrier. In fact, I've never owned an activated iOS device on any smartphone plan (except in college, I had a loaner iPod touch for iOS development, registered to my school email on a different computer, a loaner Macbook Pro). Every thing I found on Google is the opposite, Android users unable to receive texts from iOS users. Thanks for any help in advance

I'm not receiving texts from other iphone users

I cannot receive texts from certain people in my contact list. My imessaging is turned off and when I go to turn it on says "waiting on activation" so I attempt to sign in with my apple ID and password and it says please check your network connection. Its been doing this for days. It doesnt matter where I am, how many bars I have or if I'm connected to Wifi.
I am PRAYING someone can help me here since even the store cant.
If I dont get this figured out, I'll have no other choice but to uprade to Samsung.
Also since updating to the dreaded ios7 I cannot use Snapchat, and myinstagram and facebook do not integrate together.

If they are receiving that error message, it corrected and you are deregistered from iMessage
