IPhone attached to car stereo (Honda Accord)

Hi,
I've had a car cable for my iPhone for several months, and although it doesn't work fantastically, it does work most of the time.
I've just upgraded to firmware 2.1 on my iPhone and now it doesn't work except in shuffle mode, or if I play a track (or podcast) and then plug it in to the car (a pain on long journeys when I want to listen to several podcasts)
Anyone else having issues since the upgrade?
Cheers

It seems like every other time there is a new version of the iPhone firmware or an update in the firmware to my car radio the interface stops working.
I have since changed to a hardwired dock connector in all my cars. These ALWAYS work.
Just about any car audio shop can install these at a low cost.
They are _unaffected by firmware updates_, and they charge my iPhone and iPod at the same time. So when I get out of my car I have a fully charged iPhone.
Go hardwired, it will ALWAYS work.

  • Iphone and my car stereo

I just bought an iphone 3G and want to know if I can connect my iphone to my car stereo system (08 Nissan Altima Coupe w/factory Bose sound system) so I can listen to my downloaded music. I believe my car is equipped for this but need to know what adaptor to buy. Any one with input would appreciated!

I don't know if the you haver the same radio as my 08 Maxima but if you go to your local Nissan dealer you can get the iPod interface installed. Interface System for iPod® is not available for HYBRID models or models with factory navigation system. Or your radio should have the AUX jack that is in between the "Clock" and the "Scan" button and should say "AUX IN" if you have that then all you need is a 3.5MM wire (3.5mm to 3.5mm cable) example

  • Iphone and integrated car stereo

I have several apps on my phone that have an Ipod button for controlling the music while playing the stereo in the car. Before the last update I could have the GPS or other similar program running on my Iphone, but could also navigate to my Itunes and select the music/playlists, etc.. Since the last update, I can still navigate to my songs, but I cannot select the artist or playlist while the Iphone is plugged into the car stereo. If I remove the Iphone from the car jack I can navigate the songs fine.

  • Connecting iphone 4S to car stereo problems

I have a new iPhone 4S and when I connect it to my car stereo via a Monster cable I can hear static.  My wife's older iPhone does not have this issue.  Her phone plays, just as my old iPhone 3, perfect music.  I have checked my connections with the new phone, but I still get background static.  Do I need to use a different cable with the new iPhone?

Just read all of the history on the issue.  I have already posted feedback to Apple to document the issue. Thanks. I will also try to use a different cable and see if that works.

  • IPhone 3G and Car Stereos

Now that it's out, can anyone tell me if they interface with iPod compatible car stereos like regular and touch iPods do?
    Thanks!

There is another really long thread (more than 50 posts) where people were reporting which seemed to work and which did not. In general, none of the old iPod-based players worked. Direct line-in all seemed to work (the ones that go from the headset jack to the aux in on your car stereo). The handful that were designed for iPhone seem to work with iPhone 3G. The same is not true for Touch-compatible ones.

  • IPhone connectivity to Car Stereo -- POSSIBLE SOLUTION

I stumbled across a possible solution to the iPhone not working with some car stereos. Granted, I have a cheap name brand stereo ,but it has the full ipod interface built-in. It's a Valor NVG-710W ($999 from frys).
My iPhone worked in my truck from day one, but after a week, i made some playlist changes, and it quit working. After a trip to the Apple Store, to no avail, I was determined to figure out what happened. Making sure it wasn't the radio itself, I tested my wife's iphone, and it worked. I started tweaking the settings and playlists.
What I found is this: the car stereo doesn't comprehend "Smart Playlists." Everytime I sync'd a Smart Playlist to the iPhone, the stereo would not connect to iPhone, but if I took the Smart playlist's off, it would connect immediately and start playing thru the stereo.
Hope this tidbit helps someone out.

That happens to me occasionally. Have you tried power cycling the iphone? that seems to fix it for me when it happens.

  • How do I play my iphone through my car stereo

I want to play my Iphone 4S through my car Vauxhall Corsa stereo. There's no socket on the car stereo. Do I need to buy some hardware?

The aux input works great if you don't need to control the iPod from the radio, I connect it this way routinely and have a separate charger when needed. The OP, however does not have an aux port.
Using earbuds or headphones is illegal in most states and I know a few that have been ticketed for impaired/reckless driving. Get into an accident wearing them and you could open yourself up to lawsuits because its considered impaired hearing. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. You can't fight the impaired hearing thing, don't even think about it. Claim to be senile and they'll pull your license right there and you will be walking for awhile.
    Drive safe.

  • Charge iphone 3gs using car stereo USB sony xplod

i am using my car stereo [sony xplod] for playing music via bluetooth, can i recharge my phone using USB in built with stereo, is it safe?

The iphone and ipod are not the same device.
Perhaps your car stereo supports ipod and not iphone.  Check with the manufacturer of your car stereo.

  • Playing my iPhone through the car stereo

I am looking for a new car stereo and the biggest feature I want is to be able to play music off of my iPhone on it. Almost every model I've looked at says it plays wma/mp3/aac. Most of my music files are mp3s, but the last few CDs I ripped in .m4a (Apple loseless). After researching it, I kind of have the impression that m4as are converted to aac, and will be played, but cannot for the life of me find a place that definitively says this. Can anyone help me out?

Not sure if this info is necessary, but some players connect to the iPhone through the headphone jack, some through USB, and most can do either.

  • Playing Music From Iphone App thru Car Stereo

I know how to play my itunes songs through my car stero, but is there a way to listen through the car stereo to things like Pandora or Foreign Radio stations that I have downloaded as apps while driving? HELP

if you use the headphone jack, any audio will be pumped into your car stereo.

  • Connecting my iPhone to my car stereo?

I need something that plugs into the iPhone and then goes into the charger of my car...some kind of transmitter.NOT iTrip or that other crap, something that works well..I don't really like griffin, but let me know what I should use.

I just bought an interface from Dice electronics. They make car specific interfaces. I have not installed yet, but will tomorrow. The person who recommended it is a trusted friend who is my gadget guru and says it was easy to install and works well. But you have to be comfortable with pulling out your radio, etc.

I drive 2013 Accord Coupe and was using iPhone 5 until recently.  No problem with the compatibility.  Just upgraded the phone to iPhone 6 Plus, pairing was successful but vehicle does not display the text receiving.  I was searching for some answers but not found a conclusive one yet.  I would like to know if someone has the same issue.

  • Car Stereo No Longer Recognizes iPhone after iOS 7.1 Update

I connect my iPhone to my car stereo with via USB (the stereo doesn't have bluetooth) and now after the iOS 7.1 update, it no longers works in my car. My stereo displays an error message of 'iPod err' when I connect it. I've used this same car stereo and USB cable to connect my iPhone for years without any issues, until the 7.1 update a couple days ago.
Anyone else having this issue? This is real frustrating.

In another thread on this issue, Brendan writes:
Turns out restarting my car and/or rebooting my iphone "fixed" the issue. Apparently this was unrelated to the iOS 7.2 upgrade. Honda + iPhone has been rock solid (even if the Honda Fit UI is terrible), so I'm not sure what to make of this problem. Maybe a glitch? Who knows.
Here is the URL for that thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25211736?ac_cid=tw123456#25211736
His suggestion worked for me: turn off your car, completely shut-off your phone and let it sit a few minutes. Then reboot phone and start car and try again.
    Good luck!
