IPhone Auto-Sync/ Import in Mountain Lion

Whenever I connect my iPhone 4 to my MacPro 5,1 (10.8 Mountain Lion) it opens iTunes and Image Capture tries to access my camera roll even though I have checked off the options for auto-import and auto-sync in both said programs.
What's going on? Is there a setting on the iPhone itself that I don't know about?

Maybe this setting in Image Capture?

  • How do I import my Mountain Lion Contacts list into Maverick

I updated my Macbook Pro from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and I was able to get everything working except the contacts list.  In Mountain Lion I had my contacts listed populated but my Maverick contacts list is empty.  For some reason the updated system no longer finds the contacts list which was used in Mountain Lion but it must be on the disk somewhere.  Where do I find it and how do I get the Maverick Contact application to read OR import the Mountain Lion Contact list?  (I do have a time machine backup).

    Megan,
Do a Mail Merge from AddressBook to a Pages Document. The User Guide has details on doing the merge.
After you get the merged document, there will be only one contact per page, but that's easy to fix by doing a search and replace to get rid of the Section Breaks.

  • Why won't my iphone 4 and mac with mountain lion sync my messages?

I am trying to continue a conversation from my iphone to my mac. It doesn't work like icloud pushing my e-mails and songs from one to the other. That works just about perfectly. But for imessages I can't get it to work. I even turned my caller ID to my email address. It really doesn't work well at all. Am I doing something wrong? And more importantly, IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING TROUBLE?
    Thank you!

IF all of you guys were running the Messgaes Beta under Lion, before you moved up to Mountain Lion, that may be the culprit.
At any rate, do the following:
Under Messages application, DELETE the account that is not syncing.
Should just be your Apple ID'd account.
Do this by going into Messages/Preferences/Accounts,
Selecting the account in the sidebar and pressing the minus sign at the bottom of the sidebar.
    Quit Messages
Then under the Finder menu at the top of your desktop, navigate to:
Library/Preferences folder. To do so, while selecting the Go menu item, press the Alt key, and the Library will list.
    Select it
Inside the Preferences folder, locate all the files that have
    com.apple.imagent
    com.apple.imessage
    com.apple.imservice
And drag them to the trash.
Now Open the Messages application and add your Apple ID account using the plus sign, under Messages/Preferences/Accounts.
If you also deleted the files above that had FaceTime in them, you will need to open that app an re enter your Apple ID account info there too.
All Messages "syncing" should now work.

  • Problem syncing iPhone 4S w/ iCal after Mountain Lion upgrade

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard (I think?) and now my iPhone calendar entries will not show up in iCal.
They are not just recurring events, it seems that all iPhone events that were added after this point are not syncing with iCal.
    Please help!

All entries are frozen dating back to the point of upgrade, but the recurring events continue to show up.
To test it out, I subscribed to the US Holidays calendar, and it doesn't show up on my iPhone either.

  • Error syncing email after mountain lion update

    Looking for a fix....
I updated to Mountain Lion yesterday and now when my iphone syncs (wired or wireless), I get an error that "Itunes could not sync mail accounts to the iphone because an error occurred remapping record identifiers.
I searched and some places said to remove sync on info tab then clear in Isync....but there is no more isync in Mountain lion.  HELP!

I found the solution. Go to your iphone. There will be an option to see that you have notes in my iphone or in icloud. Copy and paste to the notes in icloud and delete away those in iphone after copied.

  • Notes Sync Error with Mountain Lion

Hi, I am having trouble syncing the blackberry memopad entries with the notes application on Mountain Lion. I believe this was a reported issue previously according to this:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do;jsessionid=A8635A3DFAACBD7F295D47ABAC4C1B0A?...
Has a resolution been found? Its quite annoying not have important notes synced to your machine...
    Thanks & Regards

Can't wait for a response to this post, I have exactly the same problem.

  • Mail and iMessage sync troubles in Mountain Lion

    Hi,
    I have;
    iPhone 4 (latest iOS)
    iPad 2 (latest iOS)
MacBook Pro 13" - mid 2012 (osX Mountain Lion)
I have three questions, hope one (or more) of you can help!
    1) I noticed that iMessages I receive on my iPhone and iPad when my MBP is turned off or in standby, don't show up in the appropriate conversation on my MBP after I turn it on and start iMessage. It only syncs iMessages sent from after starting up my MBP and onwards. So not all my conversations are in sync on all my devices, as Apple advertises.
Is there a setting I've missed? Is something wrong? Or is this just the way it works for all of us?
    2) Also, I sometimes receive iMessages on my iPhone and MBP at roughly the same time (2 to 3 secs. apart), and only 30 to 50 secs later on my iPad. This wile all three devices are on the same WiFi network, all with best connection. Do any of you have the same problem?
    3) Also, as this MBP is my first osX product, I was wondering if there's a way to receive emails without opening the app. Now, when I turn on my MBP nothing happens in both the Mail app as in Notification Centre. But when I launch the Mail app, mails come flouding in and suddenly Notification Centre is full as well.
So in short, my question would be; is there a way to receive emails without opening the app? Just like in iOS so to say.
Hope to get some answers on my questions!
    Thanks a lot in advance!

I'm having the same problem in a different part of Preferences.
I keep unchecking "Logoff after X minutes of activity" in the Security and Privacy section. After restarting the setting is checked and enabled again.
My user is a network user connected to a Mountain Lion Server. I've tried the same things with different users and computers with the same results.

  • When syncing calendars between mountain lion and ios6 on iCloud, the times of events change

When I sync calendars between my iphone 4s running ios6 and my macbook pro running mountain lion 10.8.2 using icloud, the start times and end times of my events change ... very frustrating !!!

This is usually due to one of the two devices having the wrong time or being in the wrong time zone.

  • Is there a way to have iCloud NOT sync rules in Mountain Lion Mail?

My wife and I each have our own MacBook Pro on Mountain Lion and we share an iPad on iOS 6. We use OS X Mail as our mail client for our accounts on our ISP mail service.  We have iCloud enabled on all three devices but we have Mail disabled on all three.
Every time either of us makes a change to a Mail rule on our MacBook, it is pushed to the other MacBook.  But we need different rules since we have multiple mail accounts and have different interests in each of them.  I finally noticed by clicking the little ? icon in the rules window that the rules are synced if you have Documents and Data selected in iCloud NOT Mail.  We also use iWork on all three devices so we want Documents and Data enabled for sharing documents between the devices.
So is there a way to keep from screwing up each other's Mail rules without losing access to our iWork documents???  The only thing we have come up with is prefacing every rule name with our initials so for example my rule can file a message and hers can move it to Trash. But this is also a pain since you cannot sort the rules by name in the rules window.

    Hello Tom:
    To my knowledge, no.

  • Can I get rid of the MobileMe sync icon in Mountain Lion?

I recently set up a new MacBook Pro by using setup assistant to restore from a Time Machine backup of an old Snow Leopard machine. In general it's worked fine, but I still seem to have the old MobileMe sync icon in the menu bar, and as far as I can work out it's now totally functionless. MobileMe no longer exists, and there's no longer any MobileMe preferences screen to turn it off. Clicking on it just shows a message saying 'no devices syncing'. Does it serve any useful purpose in Mountain Lion, and if not, how can I get rid of it?

That works! Thanks. Does it serve any useful purpose in Mountain Lion that I'm missing, or is it just a stub that somehow didn't get removed?
    Does nothing at all now.

  • Syncing contacts between Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard?

One of my computers is running Mountain Lion, and the other is running Snow Leopard and so does not have access to iCloud. Is there any way to sync Contacts between the two computers?

I am not sure why you can't access iCloud, using a browser? Then you have the same address book, so long as you are connected to the internet.  https://www.icloud.com/
No email involved. From the browser, you can download individual iCards or all of the individual cards, BUT unfortunately, not the Groups. So, you have to fiddle on the SL machine with keeping the groups organized.
Up until recently, I have been able to sync Contacts from ML (which stays synced to iCloud) to SL this way:  copy the /Users/~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ folder from the ML computer to the SL computer by dragging the icon onto the dock's AddressBook icon, this should retain all the group info.  But, recently, this has ceased being complete.
Apple really left us behind on this one.

  • Can't sync messages between Mountain Lion and iOS 6?

I'm currently using an iPhone 5, and I just upgraded my Mac to Mountain Lion. Unfortunately, the conversations I start on the iphone do not appear on the mac, and vice versa. I've tried everything, from restarting my devices, to logging out of everything and logging in again. I've also signed in with my Apple ID on both devices, but nothing seems to work.
Is there something that I'm doing wrong here?

I can just access Twitter through Safari to avoid that?  (Before you tell me that Twitter isn't that private, I'm on there with a pseudoname).
    Yes.
The integration of Twitter with Contacts is mostly about storing your contact Twitter and Facebook accounts much as you would store their phone numbers of email addresses.

  • How do I sync notes to mountain lion

    Dear Apple;
I have a lot of notes in my iPhone4 -- I want to SYNC them to the new NOTES app in Mountain Lion. Why, oh why is it so difficult to copy some text across a USB cable? For some reason, iTunes can move Music, Videos, and Photos, but apparently, ASCII text is too hard. I have created an iCloud Account, which is dangerous, since it seems to allow remote wiping of my Mac, I have created an @me account (why I need another email address is beyond me), I have turned on "notes" syncing on the phone and under icloud preferences, and yet, the only notes that talk to each other are NEW notes. Is there ANY WAY to just "select all" and have them sync, or is the solution to start again with a different phone?

While bCirulnick is not addressing Apple, per se, it would be useful for more and more people to complain to Apple about changing such functionality (apple.com/feedback).  Notes used to nicely sync across USB with iTunes.  What was the motivation to change it and restrict this to only iCloud....

  • Auto-smart quotes in Mountain Lion.

Being kind of a weirdo, one huge draw to OS X for a long while now has been its ability to automatically turn dumb quotes into smart quotes.
    That is,
    " " into “ ” .
Just a bit of a typographical quirk I have.
Anyway, since getting Mountain Lion, this function simply doesn't work as it should.  When it is simply enabled in the [edit > substitutions] menu, nothing happens.  So, I found out, that when you go into the [edit > show substitutions] menu, you can get it to work if you have 'text replacement' checked.  However, with one monstrous caveat: after the quotes get changed to smart ones, weird stuff starts to happen. In contractions, the cursor will move to the letter directly adjacent to the new smart quote.  E.g. in the word I've, the cursor will move between the v and e after you hit the spacebar; in the word don't, it'll move next to the t.
In essence, it makes the function totally useless because it turns typing into a total hassle.  I swear it didn't do this in one of the earlier versions of 10.8, but it sure does now.  Perhaps someone knows of a way to fix this?  Or is it simply a bug that slipped through the cracks because it's a pretty esoteric feature?
I guess the only other option is to stop being so ridiculous, but now why would I want to do that?

I, too, am having the same problem – except I am using Lion (10.7.5).  If I remember correctly, this was a problem even in 10.7.4.  Totally aggravating for us weirdos.  I just can’t tell if the problem has to do with Safari (or other applications) or whether it is an operating-system-wide setting/problem.  I have tried a few different trouble-shoots – combinations of the “System Preferences” panel and “Substitutions” from within Safari – but all to no avail.

  • How do I get Calendar and Reminders to automatically sync with my iPhone and MacBook Pro on Mountain Lion?

For Instance when I add a calendar appointment on my laptop, I want it to automatically appear in my iPhone calendar with the same settings - it does not currently do that.

Are you using iCloud?  You'll need to set up iCloud on all your devices and then ensure the items you're creating are in your iCloud account area.
