IPhone auto typing correction

Is there a way to turn off the auto type correction? When I am texting and trying to send short notes it auto corrects when I don't want it too.

*This is great news!* I had not done an upgrade because there didn't seem to be any features worth upgrading for... I was sure wrong!!! Man, to be able to turn this frustration off would be sooooo sweet!
Today I sent a text to a young lady, it was supposed to read: Oooo lala. Instead, iPhone sent "Pop lama." Yeah, I'm a big hit over there
Now, if they'd only give us copy/cut/paste. Elementary functionality for such an "advanced" device, eh?

  • Typing correction defaults 'me' to 'M&E'

I don't know how the iPhone learns typing shortcuts, but I have a really frustrating one. Whenever I type 'me' in an email or text, it auto corrects to 'M&E'. I vaguely recall sending a message with that once a long time ago, but nothing recent. Is there any way to get rid of that?

    Hi Guys,
I've got this same frustrating problem. I have no idea how my iPhone learnt the "M&E" phrase or why it would want to replace a word like "me" that I use so commonly. I have reset the custom dictionary but that hasn't worked and also tried typing "me" and then cancelling the suggestion of "M&E" that the iPhone offers up several times but it refuses to take the hint and stop suggesting it.
I would prefer not just to switch of all suggestions so would appreciate any and all advice that anyone out there can offer before I end up launching my phone out of the nearest window in frustration!!
    Cheers All!
    Rich.

  • IPhone auto-set time is 1 min slow to time-server time.

I have the problem that my iPhone is 1 min slow... always (when auto-set by network). I live in the Portland Oregon area, and I do not believe the issue is with AT&Ts towers putting out the wrong time. As my co-workers with the 3G iPhone display the correct time. Why is this?

Still quite likely on AT&T's end. The time data is transmitted separately on the EDGE vs. the 3G networks. An iPhone 3G user in a recent thread described seeing different time/date on EDGE vs. 3G (toggling the 3G access on and off).

  • Auto lens correction for iPhone4

LR3.3 Auto Lens Correction correctly identifies my Nikon lens in NEF files, but can't automatically identify and apply correction to my iPhone4 JPG files. I can manually select Make/Model/Profile for the iPhone4 and apply. Not a big deal, but: user error or by design? I import straight from the phone using LR import. Camera make and model appear in the EXIF data. thx

Likely by design. As I recall, the iPhone 4 does not contain EXIF camera model metadata that distinguishes it from earlier iPhone models (e.g., the Make = Apple, the model = iPhone).

  • Auto spell correction in Yosemite

I am new to the Mac but I think I have a problem with Auto Spell Correction. So far in Pages and Mail if a word is spelled incorrectly I get the red underline but no correction. Is this a known bug? Might I be doing something Wrong? I am running Yosemite 10.10.1
    Thanks

With Check Spelling while typing, and Correct Spelling Automatically set, neither Pages or Mail will just blatantly change the word for you. You must right-click, or two-finger tap (if either are enabled in System Preferences) to access the contextual menu. There, you will see a few (selectable) guesses at the spelling. If it is not one of these words, and the application alerted (red under-dot) that a misspelling is present, you can also tell the application to ignore, or learn that word.

  • Yesterday I  reset my settings on my  iphone 4 to correct another problem. Today I am unable to connect to itunes to sync my phone. The device does not show up on the screen. What can I do?

Yesterday I reset my settings on my iphone 4 to correct a problem. Today I am unable to connect to itunes to sync my phone. The device does not show up on the screen. What can I do?

Best practices says plug the USB cable into the computer, then plug the 30 pin connector into the iPhone.
If everything is working correctly, you should be able to plug the iPhone in at any time. Before or after opening iTunes.
Depending on what settings are selected in iTunes, the program may or may not automatically open when you connect the device.

  • Touch screen stopped working. Is there anyway to force a full backup of the iPhone without typing in my passcode lock or is there anyway to force it to connect to a WiFi network so the phone can backup to iCloud??

Hello all, I could use some help with my iPhone 4, I hope this is the best place to ask!
    The Problem:
I want to do a full backup of my iphone to either itunes or to icloud. Unfortunately the iphone got wet and isn’t working properly. The phone turns on and still works, but the touch screen no longer works. I have a passcode lock on the phone so iTunes will not allow me to backup it up until I type in the passcode (which I cannot physically do). WiFi had been turned off before it got wet so it won’t connect to any known WiFi networks either to backup automatically to iCloud.
    What happened:
I had been travelling for 6 months and went tubing on a river with my iphone in a dry bag. Unfortunately the dry bag failed and filled with water ruining my iphone.
    What I’d like to do:
It’s an old phone and I was planning on buying a new iPhone anyway. I would love to do a full backup to either iCloud or to my computer so when I get a new iPhone I don’t lose anything. I’ve already connected it to my PC and downloaded all the photos and videos off the phone so at least I haven’t lost that, but I would like to be able to recover all the text messages, WhatsApp messages and notes I had created during my 6 months of travel.
The last time it was backed up to my pc or to icloud was in April, so there are 6 months worth of very meaningful data I would love to keep to remind me of my travels!
Is there anyway to force a full backup of the iPhone without typing in my passcode lock or is there anyway to force it to connect to a WiFi network so the phone can backup to iCloud??
iTunes recognizes the phone just now and I tried upgrading the phone to iOS7 in the hopes that it would first backup and then upgrade. Unfortunately all that happened is the phone upgraded to iOS7, but it didn’t backup to iTunes. Now the phone is stuck at the iOS7 welcome screen and I can’t do anything else with it.
Any ideas or tips would be welcome!
NOTE: This is NOT a jailbroken iPhone.

If there is no other way around this, is there anyway to completely wipe the phone then??
The Apple store agreed to give me a new iPhone 4 as a warranty replacement for $150 (I travel a lot and I have a factory unlocked phone, so this is still worth it for me).  But before I trade it in, I would like to make sure all my data is backed up on the device first.
When I try and restore the phone now on iTunes, it says I have to turn off Find My iPhone on the phone first before I can restore it.  Now since I can't use the screen I can't really do that.
So how do I completely wipe the iPhone???
    Thanks!

  • Auto highlight correction in LR 4

Is Adobe even considering adding the option of turning off the auto highlight correction inserted into LR4. For anyone shooting white backgrounds this is a terrible nuisance. I personally will have to switch to another image processing software program if there is not a fix for this. I work hard to get a good image in camera with a pure white background, then Lightroom messes with it automatically. It seems someone at Adobe would have realized it was not a good idea to assume that no photographers would want a pure white background.

I tried to get Krista to send me the raw, but she/he has moved on - given up on PV2012 due to difficulty preserving fine detail in upper highlights whilst maintaining solid white background.
It is true that there are 2 potentially bad things about PV2012:
    1.  It doesn't like for you to have all white or all black anything (auto highlight recovery and auto shadow recovery). - this is usually, but not always, a great thing...
    2. PV2012 can lose fine detail in the whites due to compression done presumably to preserve tone & color relationships when 1 or more channels are clipped., but yielding a less-than-optimal trade off in some cases, see this thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1050188?tstart=0
Don't get me wrong. It could be that these photos would look stellar with a little more finessing of whites/exposure/highlights to bring out detail in the brighter highlights (and maybe some clarity). But also, its possible that Krista has indeed bumped up against one of PV2012's not-so-good "features", and he/she knows it, and isn't willing to "fight" with it to get satisfactory results.
Summary: In general, PV2012 handling of upper highlights / whites / clipping is very nicely done, but in some photos, it's "potential" bad things become real bad things.
Krista - have you tried negative highlights? It may be that you need to go easier on the +whites, and/or enhance highlight detail using -highlights, then paint the surrounding wall white if need be. Hard to tell without having a raw to work with. Also, your exposure may need to be dropped, especially if you've bumped the whites.
In general, in PV2012, I think it's best to handle subject detail and white wall separately - i.e. do what you need to do to get the subject looking nice, then use locals to repaint the wall, if you really want it solid white. If you don't want to resort to locals for repainting the background, then you won't be the first to abandon PV2012 for "product photos" against white (or black) backgrounds. And also or instead of, consider using locals to further enhance subject. I sometimes crank whites up a little much then use -highlights locally in selected areas.
PS - I hope there is a PV2014 which further improves Lightroom's ability to deal optimally with upper highlights / whites, for all cases... (ditto for blacks).
I adore PV2012 in most (but not all) ways.
UPDATE: I couldn't resist downloading the posted jpeg samples in lieu of a raw to work with. I think it's entirely possible that Krista is losing detail in the wings due to the "White Mud" phenomenon - PV2012, in it's quest for recovering blown background and integrating with the rest of the photo, may be compressing the non-blown whites (brightest part of insect's wings). I think this phenomenon has become my least favorite aspect of PV2012. It affects not only photos with white backgrounds, but any photo with blown highlights - and it doesn't necessarily take a lot of blown pixels to negatively influence all whites in the photo (even if all such pixels have been cropped out!). Reminder: +whites is far from a panacea in dealing with "white mud syndrome". A tone curve with an upward inflection in the whites can help a little, but only a little - push it too far and the rest of the image will deteriorate.
I don't think Adobe has any intention of improving this in PV2012 - hope I'm wrong. They could add another control in a fashion that doesn't influence previous edits, to refine handling of top-most whites, and release it as a minor revision - I would be both shocked and delighted if they did that.
UPDATE #2: After further consideration of the jpeg (really wish I had that raw), I have reversed my previous hypothesis. I thiink this is a photo that can be processed to perfection, easily, in PV2012, even with almost completely  clipped background. Note: the following enhancements were made to the (already processsed and baked) PV2012 jpeg, and so may NOT apply to the raw.
    * Much Lower Exposure (high exposure was compressing upper highlights)
    * Much Lower Contrast - this is a photo where (presumably) high contrast is not desirable, and the upper half of the tonal range is nicely served simply by dropping contrast.
    * Negative Highlights - a lot: wing detail is totally recoverable / enhanceable (NOT a victim of "White Mud Syndrome").
    * Positive Shadows - same amount as Negative Highlights (except positive, not negative).
    * Positive Whites - just enough to clip the background, no more.
    * Positive Blacks - a lot: in this case, it helps maintain the "softer" look of the PV2010 version, and keeps intra-shadow contrast down. - brightens the photo with less highlight compression than exposure.
    * No Clarity - totally unnecessary, and gives it a harsher look.
    * No Tone Curve - totally unnecessary.
Example for comparison (hint: context-click and open in new tab, then in WebPhotoBrowser: click next, next, next to compare, instead of next, prev, next, prev...)
Krista - Consider practicing more with PV2012. It is far more capable than it seems at first. I mean, continue to use PV2010 if need be, or you're in a hurry... - but keep honing your PV2012 skills too!
    PV2012 rocks!
    Cheers,
    Rob

You can create an App store account without a credit card, however that won't help you with updating your previous purchases. Apps are DRM protected, and tied to the account that was used to originally purchase them. There is no way to overcome this DRM protection or transfer them to another account(Itunes support can if you contact them). If you want to create an App store account without a credit card, follow the directions here, but bear in mind the DRM protection mentioned. If you use this account to download free apps, you will have to use this same account for all future updates:

    OK, lets try this:
Shut down your Mac, then disconnect the power cord for about 30 seconds.
While you wait, see if the keyboard key for the character that's being typed on screen behaves any differently than other keys (click, spring back, etc). You can also just pull out the key and see if there's anything stuck or annual about that key.

  • Iphone auto clear cache of apps?

Does iphone auto clear the cache of the apps?
i notice my FB apps' memory usage is increasing.
    Thank you

At this point, for months I have been contacting app developers and Apple requesting the ability to clear an app's cache. I have only 1 app that I use that supports this feature - WallpapersHD.
All apps should support cache clearing. Especially apps that bloat like: Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Instant Video, TUAW, iMore, Twitter, TWC Max, Weather [Yahoo], Trailers [Apple], Bible [YouVersion]...  Practically any and every app I have ever used that communicates with a remote server out there in the world somewhere.
iOS needs a cache clearing option to assist in managing space because deleting and re-installing apps is a terrible way to get that space back.

  • Auto Color Correction Question

Once you've used Auto Color Correction (Shft+Cntr+B) and then saved, is there any way you can undo this command to bring a photo back to its original state?  [I know ideally you should save the modified version with a different name/number, but I forgot to do this!]

If one has done a Save (and closed the Image File), instead of a Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy, I know of no way to Undo.
One might be able to "deconstruct" the effects of the Auto Color Filter, by using other Filters/Adjustments, but it will require a lot of hand-work, time and experimentation.
I have a workflow, that keeps this from happening. Where possible, I use Adjustment Layers, so that the underlying Background Layer is not touched. In the cases, where I cannot apply the necessary adjustment/effect in an Adjustment Layer, I Duplicate (Ctrl+J)  that Background Layer, and apply the adjustment/effect to that. When done, I always Save the working PSD, with all Layers and Adjustment Layers. Actually, I always do a Save_As, so that my originals are never overwritten, but you acknowledge that you know that part now.
Maybe others will be able to help you get started with the "deconstruction," but I'd look into a Color Balance Adjustment Layer, and work with it for a bit.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

See if you can manage your Apple ID and change the primary email account to the correct address, as explained here: Change your Apple ID.  Then verify the address.
