Iphone automatically changes time every night

My iPhone 4 changes the time by one hour every night without fail. i have only had it this week, so it may be due to daylight savings??
i have 'set automatically' turned off, however the time changes itself every day.
any advice would be greatly appreciated, i am getting sick of having to use my old phone for an alarm clock!!

  • HT4528 Hello.  I recently upgraded my iPhone 4 to ios7.  Since the upgrade, my phone turns itself off at the same time every night, for about 30 minutes.  I have no idea why.  Any suggestions?

I recently upgrade to iOS 7, and since then, my iPhone turns off automatically at the same time every night for about 30.  Why does this happen, and what setting can I change to prevent it?

Is Do Not Disturb turned on? Do you see a quarter-moon icon up top in the status bar?

  • Skype 7.3 crashing around same time every night

Skype has been crashing every night, right before I go to bed Skype.exe ends up consuming almost 2GB of memory for some reason, at around the same time every night, and there are constant errors that Skype is out of memory, and it eventually stops responding completely until I end the process.
Running Windows 7 64bit with the latest updates installed, and Skype 7.3 latest build. Screenshot attached.

It really can't be any other software or hardware changes, as no changes have been made at all since the Skype update which caused this issue to start occuring.
As this particular system and user account are locked down and used almost exclusively just for Skype by an elderly retired person who runs no other applications, and has made no other changes to the system within that time that Skype has been updated and this issue has started occuring.
The Skype window remains open after they launch it in the morning, without minimizing it or using any other applications which could potentially interfere.
Considering the user is an elderly person with limited computer knowledge, when this issue occurs they are unable to recover the system themselves from its non responsive state, requiring intervention by us fix it on a nightly basis which is less than ideal for us, and them.

  • Why does my ipod disconnect me from the internet at a certain time every night?

Every night at 9 pm my Ipod disconnects me from every app that requires internet. It says I am still connected to the internet but I still can't access my apps. I'm not sure what time it reconnects me in the morning. My Ipod had not been doing this until I got the latest update. I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to change this but if there is I would like to. I have gone through my Ipod and there are no restrictions set that I have noticed.

Maybe your Internet Service Provider shuts down some server at 9pm every day.

  • Internet switching off at same time every night

I am a BT unlimited broadband customer (not Infinity) and for the last 6 to 7 weeks my internet connection has been switching off every night at around 8/9pm. The broadband technical helpline have managed to get me back online when I ring by different fixes each time, including reset etc. On the occasions when I don't ring them and just leave it the internet is back on again when I wake up in the morning.
I have been sent a Home Hub 3 as a replacement for my old Home Hub 1.0/1.5., placed it much nearer the telephone point and replaced all the filters. I have disconnected my wired desktop PC and have temporary loan of a laptop which I use wirelessly. But the problem persists. The broadband light remains solid blue the whole time this is happening and, weirdly, the laptop status bar says I have internet access, although I clearly haven't. Line test shows no problems.
This problem happens even when I have no computer turned on at all. I know this because my BT Vision on demand also becomes unavailable. The troubleshooter function on the BT Vision box shows I have broadband connection during this period.
It has been suggested there may be some interference somewhere. But nothing has changed in my house and I think it would be difficult to find out if it's anything nearby. Could it be something at the exchange (although I fancy there would be many more compaints if this was so)? As you can imagine, this is driving me nuts. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

  • Why automatically [automatically change time] setting in win8?!!

in win8 that I have been install it on my macbook pro, system time automatically change after each time i set correct local time.
i was disable automatic time in win8 configuration, but that's not work.
i have a same problem with my previews system between osx 10.7 vs win7. on that case win7 time was ok, but osx time wrong.i try several times to set osx time but each time changed time after restart.  I was disable all automatically options from both OS but my problem not solved.
now i need a help to manual set time in osx 10.8&win8 without automatically change...

The problem isn't so much that the time is changing as much as how Windows and OS X deal with time.  It will never be correct for both.  Windows sets your internal clock to "local time" which is the actual time you would use.  OS X uses a Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) offset.  Basically, OS X will set your internal clock to Greenwich Mean Time and then, based on your geographic location, it will add the correct number of hours based on your time zone.  So, for OS X, your internal clock will always be the same time regardless of where you are in the world and the OS adjusts it to display the correct time.  Windows actually sets your internal clock to your actual time.
So there is no way to have them both be correct... especially if you turn off auto updating.  If OS X was the last OS to set the time (so your internal clock would be set to GMT) and you switch to Windows (this should only happen with BootCamp by the way) Windows will display the GMT (which would not be correct for your local time).  Likewise, if Windows were the last OS to set your internal clock (so it would be set to your local time), when you switched back to OS X, OS X would "think" the internal clock is set to GMT and apply an offset so it would be however many hours your are from the GMT timezone hours off.

  • My iPhone automatically changes the audio level to max/zero

Hi all. I have a problem with my iPhone audio level. When I'm listening to music with my head phones on, my iPhone sometimes changes the audio level max or zero all by itself.  When I try to decrease/increase the sound, it continues to increase/decrease until sound reaches to the max/zero. Restarting the iPhone stops the audio level change. But this does not solve problem once and for all. It happens time to time, but it is becoming somewhat irritating.
Anyone have a solution for this? I've checked the internet, but couldn't find anyone have this problem. I guess I'm the only one who has this problem. Thanks in advance.
BTW, my iPhone is 6 plus & its iOS version is 8.1.3 (12B446). Although I has been happening since I bought it in December

I wanted to update this post. I realised a something new with the issue and found a way that I can temporarily solve it without restarting the iPhone. Right before it happens, an orange blinking light appears on the empty (white) side of the sound level at the music player. I marked that area on the photo below, although I couldn't managed to capture that orange blinking light. If I change the sound level via buttons, sound goes to max or min (depending on my button choice). Unplugging and re-plugging headphones don't affect this. After re-plugging, blinking continues. But if I unplug my headphone, then close the music player from double tapping the home button & restarting the music player, turns it it to normal. Even my sound level stays the same, at the level I configured before this issue starts happening.
A remainder, this issue only happens after I start listening to music with my headphones. Same thing with speaker never happened. I hope this message make you all understand my issue better. I also hope that there is a solution

  • My iPhone 5 changing times

My iPhone 5 display randomly changes time. Never by a complete hour. Sometimes by 27 minutes oy 43 minutes. Just completely random. Anyone having the same issues?

Common problem for iPhone5's on the Verizon network.  Both Apple and Verizon are aware of it.  CNET has already published an article about the issue.  Until they fix it, try turning your LTE off and leave it off.  Since making that change, neither of my two 5's have had any issues.

  • 2 - 3 times per day my iPhone 3Gs changes time by itself.

The phone is set to automatic time update. The time is correct when I turn it on, but later it changes by about 15 minutes. I have to reboot the phone and the time is correct. The phone is NOT jailbroken, and this has only happened since i had a new battery installed.

If you haven't already, try restoring your iPhone as a new device, not from a backup, and with only the apps Apple includes. Then see if the problems persist. It's possible that a corrupted file on the iPhone is causing the problems, and that could perhaps be coming back onto the iPhone if you're restoring using a backup. Problems with an app could also be causing problems. If the problems persist after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you almost certainly have a defective iPhone and will need to contact Apple for servicing.
If the problems go away after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you can start putting your other apps back on and see if the problems reappear; if they do, you probably have a badly-coded app.
    Regards.

  • Iphone 5 changes time randomly.. need urgent help!!

hi everybody .. i need urgent help to fix the problem of my iphone 5 ( IOS 7, Vodafone Germany) ..  2 weeks ago i noticed that the time on iphone was completely wrong and not related even to other time zones .. sometimes it freezed at the same minute for 1 hour .. sometimes it ran anticlockwise.. i switched off the automatic time setting..i made reset and erased all contents and reloaded all configuration from iCloud..the same problem.. i registered it as new iPhone .. no improvement... i switched off the WIFI..3G...i made reset using iTunes .. same error. same error... i took it to Apple store in Dresden- Germany and demostrated the problem there .. they told me that the problem beyond their knowledge and i have to contact apple support ... i sent the iPhone to Apple support in Netherland ... they sent it back on the next day coz they were not able to reproduce the problem...after regestering the iPhone again with my ID.. the same problem ... it's catastrophic coz many functions are time dependent (imessege, Calender, Email, etc.. )..and i cannot rely on my iPhone anymore... has anybody encountered the same problem in germany... and what is the solution?

If the phone is failing to charge, then there are three possibilities -
    1) The charging cable is defective - does it work with anything else?
    2) The power source is defective - unlikely since you have tried different ones with same result.
    3) The phone has a hardware failure - which means you need to take to an Apple store or call them up for advice.

  • FiOS Digital Voice and Internet Reoccurring Problem with Outage at Same Time Every Night

I was hoping someone could help me out or enlighten me as to what may be going on.
I've been having problems the past two nights (5/17 and 5/18) where at 12:45am CST, both the internet and Digital Voice service go out.  The problem with this is that the outage trips our home alarm due to the dropped connection (which scares our child) and disrupts any large downloads (e.g. Steam purchases) that I may have set up to run during the night. After 5-10 minutes, service is restored and works properly.
We haven't had problems of this nature since we switched to digital voice around two months ago, and we tested our alarm system with the provider to ensure it works properly with Digital Voice (it does).
Does anyone know if Verizon has been doing backend updates or something of that nature that would knock service out two nights in a row at the same time?
I haven't received any information indicating there are outages, planned or otherwise, in our area, and the Verizon support staff I contacted, while polite and courteous, did not have an answer for me.  I am hoping that we don't have to endure a third night of this.
    Thanks

To follow up on this, we again had another occurance at 12:45am CST Saturday morning.  Thankfully, though, we did not have another occurance Sunday morning.
However, I still would like to know what the root cause of this problem is.  I've powercycled my ONT (removed power, removed battery backup) per Verizon support's instructions Friday afternoon, but it did not appear to have any impact on the problem at hand.

  • Ical will not sync properly across macbook iCloud and i phone. when i put in an appointment on iPhone it changes time in i cloud. for example when i put in a 4:00pm apt on iPhone, iCloud creates a 1pm apt

    please help

A couple of things to check include going to icloud.com, sign into your iCloud account, click your name at the top and choose Account Settings, click Time Zone and be sure it shows the correct time zone and that you have selected a city near you.  Then open your calendar on icloud.com, click the gear-shaped icon on the bottom left and choose Preferences, click the Advanced tab and make sure you have not checked time zone support at the top.
On your iOS devices, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Time Zone Support (in the Calendars section) and make sure this is set to Off.  On your Mac, open the Calendar app and to to Mail>Preferences>Advances and uncheck “Turn on time zone support”.

    Hi
I doubt there is something wrong with your notebook.
Is the notebook connected to LAN?
If yes then the enabled Wake up on LAN option could be the reason why the notebook powers on itself
    So access the BIOS and disable this option;
Furthermore I recommend disabling this in device manger -> LAN properties -> Advanced tab.
Last but not least you should check if some Scheduled Tasks are not set which could power up the notebook as well

  • [SOLVED] Time is changed after every reboot

    Hello,
my Arch has strange behaviour regarding the system time. I use latest up-to-date arch with KDE. No explicite NTPD running and I don't have it in DAEMONS under rc.conf. The KDE own time & date environment is configured to not automatically change time. In /etc/rc.conf I have HARDWARECLOCK="localtime" and TIMEZONE="America/Chicago". Now from the environment to the problem:
Whenever I shutdown or restart my system, the time will be changed after booting into linux again. After shutdown with correct time using "date -s ..", the BIOS clock is correct. Then, when it actually boots into arch, there will be a delay
of 20-40 seconds for "$ date" (approximatelly the time of the reboot process) and also in the BIOS clock!
After shuting down before going to bed and restarting in the morning, the time will be approximately (or more or less exactly) the time when I shutted down... It should not be related to KDE as I observe the same behaviour when I remove kdm from daemons in rc.conf, hence, booting to console, setting time, restarting into console...
As I have dual boot: this problem is not observable using windows...
It seems like the time is stored somewhere during shutdown process and changed accordingly during reboot...?!?
Any ideas or comments? It's really crazy how annoying a wrong computer clock becomes (all IMs and system stuff is based on it...). :-(

Thanks for all the quick responses!
Primoz wrote:maybe you should start using ntp or openntpd?
It provides you with time directly from the net.
Well, I tried to use ntp. As I am using KDE, there should already be a synchronisation service active. I can activate synchronisation in System Settings -> Date & Time and it works right after activation. But further on, e.g. after a restart - and hence such a wrong time as described in my first post - it does not correct anything. So it seems like, there is also a problem with this KDE synchronisation. But to state why I'm not using it anymore: it doesn't make much sense to use it as this is just a work around and does not solve the problem that the hardware clock might become wrong (so, e.g. I end up with a wrong clock in windows or so). In general, I just want to have a correct clock without synchronisation before I activate synchronisation.
    ewaller wrote:
    That seems weird.
When you power up, what happens if, before starting your boot loader, you enter the BIOS set up and check the system time?
Yes, it is. Well, if the hardware clock has been set correctly using e.g. hwclock it will be correct in BIOS before I restart arch. Similar observations for the following case:
    - set HW clock correct in BIOS
    - start arch ... shutdown arch
    - check HW clock in BIOS -> correct
    - start arch ... shutdown arch
    - check HW clcok in BIOS -> incorrect
    ewaller wrote:...
Other thoughts:  date -s does not set the BIOS clock, it sets the Linux kernel time.  On what do you assert that the BIOS clock is correct at shutdown.
Thanks for the hint! In that case, it seems like the KDE Date & Time settings influence both, hwclock and date.
    ewaller wrote:...
Also, once booted into Linux, what does the command hwclock show?  This command reads the actual BIOS hardware clock.
Yeah, I used that alot now. So as described, it is also incorrect after a restart. But only after arch has booted again. To sum it up:
Using whatever tools to set the hardware clock and the system clock (KDE's tool, hwclock + date, or BIOS + date), both are correct until I reboot into arch the next time. If I do that, it resets both to a time similar to the last shutdown time.

This doesn't fix anything, but you can try https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13684#comment52246 - using UTC instead of localtime.
I never checked if my system clock is running perfect at all times or is /etc/cron.hourly/adjtime correcting it once in a while.
Hm, not to sure what they are doing exactly there and how this might help... :-/
What do you mean with the second part of the sentence? Not sure if /etc/chron.hourly/adjtime is doing anything in my case... How can I check if that cronjob is running?
    karol wrote:Have you tried this http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Time#Time_Skew ?
But this is very interesting! I will remove /var/lib/hwclock/adjtime  as described in the wiki and see what happens then. Thanks!

  • Automatic Date & Time

Somehow the Automatic date & time, and the Automatic time zone settings get themselves unchecked.  I don't know how it happens, but it's happened three times in the past month.  Is there some way to lock them, and perhaps other settings as well, so they can't be changed?  Or is access to all settings on the LG G2 wide open all the time?

Thank you for the quick response!  I have never backed up the phone nor restored to factory data reset.  It's a new device.  I've had it for about a month.  I am the only user of this phone.  There are no kids in the house.
I suspect what's happening is that it is very easy to get to the settings page from the front panel, and that if the I put the phone in my pants pocket, it doesn't take much to get into settings mode and from there to the date settings and from there turning off those automatic time/date settings.  I've notice other settings get turned off as well, so it's not just the date and timezone.  If there was some way to make it harder to get to the settings page, that would help a lot.  Maybe if that link were hidden, or just not on the front panel?
The first time this happened I was on a trip to a different time zone.  I set the alarm clock to wake me up for the flight back home, and when did went off it was 32 minutes late.  The next time it happened I had set an alarm clock for a morning business meeting and it got me there an hour early.  And then it happened again this week but now I check the time every night, so I caught it.
I was using a blackberry for years before this phone, and they made the settings pages well hidden.  So I was hoping there was a way they could be hidden better on this phone.
