Iphone available storage, used 10gb says I have 2gb left but have 16gb phone????
Hi there, just upgraded from 4s to 5s, got a 16gb. Says I've used 10gb and have only 2gb left, what's happened to the other 4gb? Anyone experience the same problem? Thank you
Because you only had about 12GB's of usable space available to begin with.
When manufacturers of such devices say "GB", they mean what is called a "decimal gigabyte", which equals exactly 1,000,000,000 (one billion) bytes. When your device's operating system describes the capacity of the storage, they use what is called a "binary gigabyte", which equals exactly 1,073,741,824 bytes.
It turns out that a decimal gigabyte is approximately 93% the size of a binary gigabyte, so if your iphone is 16 decimal gigabytes, your operating system will report that it is approximately: 16 * 0.93 = 14.8 binary gigabytes, minus what the OS occupies, equals 12 ~13GB's.

iPhoto is an Application to manage and edit images.
The images do not reside in iPhoto - just thumbnail links (think "like web pages show images"). The files themselves, and duplicates and thumbnails actually reside in (but do not delete, move or rename any of these files or you'll "confuse" iPhoto) the User/Pictures/iPhoto Library (which is itself actually a container of 21 items 8 of which are folders)
You should reindex your drive after making massive changes... you may be looking at old (cached) data in the Storage report.
Open the Spotlight system preferences and then drag your hard drive to the Privacy list, then back off again. This action will clear the index and cause the system to rebuild it from scratch. The second approach is to run the following Terminal command, which will likewise erase the Spotlight index:
sudo mdutil -E /
After the index has been erased, you will see the indexing progress bar appear in the Spotlight menu. Reindexing may take a while to complete (sometimes several hours depending on the type and size of the drive's contents), but after it's done, the system information utility should properly report file sizes. -

I think you answered your own question. As your friends phones are not iPhones, but maybe Nokia or Android the smiley will appear as a different character or box. Thew only way to fix this would be to send a basic smile using the basic keyboard so that your friends will receive it as a smile and you will when they reply. Or ask your friends to check if the phones they are using have the emoji type keyboard available and ask them to update their phones. This will show the smiley when they reply to you.

IPhone won't sync Navigon - says there is no room, but there is plenty
I have been having this issue with my wife's 8gb iPhone. With each Navigon update, you have to install a new 1.2ish gig application. To do this, it requires that we delete the app from her phone to open the room to re-install it. However, even with it deleted from her phone and having over 2gigs of open space, it still says that there is not enough room to install it.
I have fixed this issue before by wiping her iPhone before - but surely this shouldn't be the solution to fix this.
Also possibly related, sometimes her iPhone when connected is not recognized, until she opens iTunes manually.
Bum iPhone?Navigon requires close to 3gb of free space in install, minimum. It most likely won't install properly without 3.5 ~ 4.0gb free.
Once installed, the space used to install is freed up & only the app size is needed. -

On my own, I discovered the following, which worked (one responder got the solution part correct for Google): For Yahoo, where I just use a standard login with no extra verification, I had to go into Yahoo and change my password. Once I did this, the new iPhone had no problem registering accepting my Yahoo account. I WAS, however, using the correct password and user name all along, for those who did not think that was the case. The problem is on the iPhone software side. For Google, I use a two step verification, and for that, one must go to Google Mail and obtain a specific, unique password, that is designed to work only on iPhones. Hope this helps anyone else with this dilemma.

iOS has got Messages app, which uses iMessage to send and receive messages. iMessage can only be used in iPhones, iPads, iPods touch and Macs, not on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
You need an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac to remove your iPhone's phone number from Messages. After getting one, open Settings > Messages > Send and Receive, and remove your phone number. After doing this, when one of your contacts choose your phone number in Messages app, it will send a SMS instead of an iMessage -

You just need to remove your account? Your question isn't to clear. But if you mean you just need to removed your information and such from that account you need to have your password and ID. So heres what you have to do... This is if you have iOS 7, I believe it is pretty similar with iOS 6.
1. Go into settings..
2. Go to iCloud
3. Scroll all the way down and you'll see Find my iPhone, you're going to want to turn that off.
4. After you turn that off you can delete your account
Both times iOS 7 asks you for your password each time for the account. So make sure you have that! And on a side note, make sure that you turn off the "Find my iPhone" feature. It is very important that you do that if you are planning to sell it or your work needs the phone back. The reason is if the feature isn't turned off and you don't remember the password for your iCloud account, it is nearly impossible to reactivate the phone because your iCloud account is permanently linked to it. This makes it like I said, just about impossible for someone else to use the phone. It is one of Apples best security features and honestly it works fantastically.
Next if you want to completely erase the iPhone all together so that you have no information on it you do the following
1. Settings again.
2. Go to General
3. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select reset.
4. You're going to want to select "Erase All Content and Settings"
5. iOS 7 should inform you that doing this will erase all content on your iPhone. You're going to want to select yes, then I believe it will ask you once again for your iTunes account password. Put it in and it will start to reset and erase your iPhone.
After that you should be in the clear, just make sure you post any other questions. I'm not the best Apple enthusiast here but I do know most of my stuff very well. Other people may know some things I might not. Hope I helped! Good Luck! -
