Iphone backup and contacts

I think I did a backup to my iphone, since I have everything on itunes, except the contacts, and the address book of my macbook pro is empty, how can I find everything to put it back in my phone?

Plug-in your iPhone with your USB cable. Start iTunes and select your device. Use the restore button. During that intervall iTunes should ask you form which backup you want to restore your phone.
You can also check your available backups before: iTunes -> Preferences -> Device -> there is a list of all your backups

    hi me kashif Hello people,
I lost all my contacts on my iPhone. Facebook contacts integration is turned off. When I got to know that I have no contacts on my iPhone. I checked my settings and iCloud backup and contacts on iCloud (in settings) were off.
Is there a solution to get all my contacts back? Please help me. I want my contacts back, as soon as possible.
    Thank you in advance.
    iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4

Unless as part of a backup, or stored somewhere else, they are gone.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage. He can continue to use yours for iTunes content, but for everything else, he needs his own.
When you did what you did, as far as iCloud knows, this is the same person with multiple devices, and that's they way things are supposed to work: keep everything in sync.

Not to doubt you, but something sounds fishy. I can see accidentally clicking Restore, but to load your Touch's information you would have had to select your Touch's backup file after restoring, which would be hard to do by accident -- unless your iPhone and Touch have the same name?
In any case, your iPhone should have its own backup file on your computer. You can click Restore again and this time select the iPhone's backup file (there should be a device name and date associated with the pop-up window at the end of the restore process). This process will erase your iPhone, reload the OS, and then when you select your backup file then all your iPhone settings, data, sync options, etc. will be re-loaded, including your media (if you auto-sync ... if you manually manage music and video on the iPhone then you'll need to re-select the items you want loaded onto it).

  • What happens at each step of an iPhone Backup and Sync?

Can someone tell me exact what is happening at each step of an iPhone backup and sync?
    I see 5 to 7 steps.
So what has happened after step 1, then after step 2, and so forth?
I would appreciate if only those who knows exactly what happens will list it in their reply.
Please don't tell me to google the question, or point me to a link. I tried all those steps, and I could not find the answer.
If you can't tell me precisely what happens after each step of a sync, please don't reply.

    - The iTunes backup that iTunes makes included photos in the camera roll. If yo go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices what is the date of the backup? Is it when the photos were on the iPod? You have to restore from that backup.
    - What may have happened is that you backup the iPod after you restored the iPod but before restoring from backup. iTunes only keeps one backup and overwrites the previous backup with the changes.

  • IPhone unlocked and contact-free

hello community, if I buy a iPhone unlocked and contact-free I served in other countries, for my work I travel all over the world and I need a phone released so I can communicate in other parts of the world, then my question and if used for any simcard in the world?
    thank's you very much

Be aware that CONTRACT FREE is NOT the same as UNLOCKED. The ONLY place to get an unlocked phone is from an Apple store. Nowhere else; not a reseller, not a carrier store, not ebay, not Wallmart, not CarPhoneWarehouse in the UK, etc, etc.

  • Outlook categories in iPhone calendar and contact apps

I use categories in my calendar and contacts in Outlook on my PC.  Is there a way to show those on the iPhone calendar and contacts apps?

Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts and Calendars to On.

  • Iphone backup of contacts and pictures

Please forgive my ignorance. I backed up my iphone 3G to my laptop.  It says it's done but where did it backup to? Is it readable? I am mostly concerned about my contacts and pictures and I want to verify the backup for that warm fuzzy feeling.  Please advise. Thx.

As an FYI, I found the answer under ipad (not iphone).  I have downloaded and used iphones backup extractor from www.iphonebackupextractor.com and it works great. I can see everything I have backed up and can edit (ie, remove) files as I see fit.

  • I deleted an iphone backup and I want to restore it. how should I do it?

I deleted by mistake all back up from icloud from an iphone. How should I do to restore it?

If you have an upgrade available with your Carrier then they will see that you keep your plan and phone number when moving to a new phone.
As far as the data on your phone is concerned you should create a backup idealing in iTunes but iCloud works as well. The backup can be restored to your new phone during the initial setup phase where it asks you for your country/region, wifi network, AppleID and so on. There is a screen during the setup where you are prompted to choose from "Setup as new iPhone", "Restore from iCloud Backup" and "Restore from iTunes Backup"
Either backup option will restore Apps, Contacts, Calendars, Notes, etc to the phone. If you want to make sure you get as much data as possible use an iTunes backup.
iCloud doesn't backup the same information as iTunes...

  • Will i lose my iPhone apps and contacts if i open up a new iTunes account and sync my iPhone?

i wanted to know if i can sync my phone to a neww itunes account without loosing all the stuff on my iphone like my apps, pictures and contacts?

I have the same problem as the emails go to my iCloud account that I cannot access!!! I cannot answer the security questions as someone else must have set up my iCloud account. Nothing seems to work. It would be great if someone has some ideas as what can be done to recover the situation?

  • Simple question about iPhone backups and password

I can't remember the password to my iPhone-backup in iTunes. But, phew, I haven't lost any data, as I have my iPhone with all data intact. So I deleted the backup in iTunes, and tried to start a fresh backup with a new password. But alas, that doesn't seem to be possible (it backs up, but doesn't ask for a password, and when trying to uncheck encryption I get asked for a password).
Does this mean iTunes now won't let me back up and retrieve the data I actually have on my very own phone? And does it mean that I now have two options:
    a. Keep on using my iPhone, keeping the data on it, but without the ability to backup and retrieve the backups, or
    b. restore and set up my iPhone as a new device, losing all my data

If you update you will not be able to go back to a previous iOS version. The iOS is not included in the backup.  The following link gives details of what is included: iTunes: About iOS backups

  • Can I synch my Outlook for Mac 2011 calendars and contacts with my iPhone calendars and contacts?

I have Outlook for Mac 2011 and also use OSx Mountain Lion on my iMac.  I want to synch my Calendar and Contacts from Outlook with my iOS devices (iPhone 5 and iPad).  How can I do this so I don't have two calendars and two contacts that don't sync with each other?

if you don't have a online account that outlook is syncing the calendar with you can't sync it with anything else.
Just because you enter a appointment, or something, in the outlook calendar that does not auto sync it with other devices unless you have it setup to sync the local, on computer, calendar with a online account of some type. That could be outlook.com or office365 or google or even apple icloud. Once you setup a online account of some type to sync the local calendar with then you can sync that account calendar with orher devices.
This is what the other poster was trying to say but did not fully explain with the mention of icloud.

I have Mountain Lion (10x) not Lion.  When I go to Sync Services in the Outlook preferences - there is no Calender there to link to.  Is this because MS no longer supports Mountain Lion?  Is there any other way to sync to iCal?

  • Syncing iPhone calendars and contacts to iCloud

I cannot get all of my calendar events or contacts that I add to my iPhone to save to iCloud.  Is this a limitation on iCloud?  I am on my phone much more than on iCloud, and I add contacts and calendar events 99% of the time to my iPhone, not to iCloud.  The strange thing is, I know there is at least some syncing going on.  I can see all my calendar events on my iPad (but not iCloud) but not all of my contacts on both the iPad and iCloud.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hi
I would say yes.  I have been running it since it came out, on both my Macbook pros, and my iMac.  On my main macbook, I run parallels vm, and windows 7 on top with a whole load of programs that are only windows based.  On the ML side, I run office for Mac, and various other work related applications.
I can honestly say that I have not had any problems running this on any of my machines.  If anything, I would say everything works slightly cleaner.
The iCLoud functions really well, and syncing iPad, iPhone etc works seemlessly, for calendar, contacts, and photos (that is all I use it for).
I did not have to tweek anything really to get like this, it all worked right out of the box.
    Hope that helps
