Keep iPhone on wall charger for ten minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.

  • IPhone 5 shuts down even when it's on the charger

My iPhone 5 keeps shutting down even when it has full battery. It doesn't last more than 2 minutes on and that's when I am able to turn it on. When I connect it to the charger sometimes it just flashes the apple continuously. I noticed that when it's on sometimes it doesn't connect to the Wi-Fi and I have no signal it just says searching.  It just started doing all this 3 days ago, befire that it worked perfectly fine. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it?

Probably a bad battery. See if it qualifies for replacement: iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program - Apple Support

  • Satellite P200-1IE: Battery runs down even though mains power connected

Hope someone can give me good advice here as I have an urgent decision to make regarding my 2-week old P200-1IE, running Vista Home Premium, purchased in Portugal where I live. I was told I have 15 days to return the machine to the shop if I am not satisfied, so I have to act quickly.
Background info: I have not yet downloaded SP1 or any drivers or bios updates from the Toshiba site. Only once has the machine been run on battery power (accidently when the power was switched off) - it ran down, beeped and once I realised and switched on the power, it charged normally. The machine has been working fine, then last night a strange problem occured.
Machine was left unattended and eventually shut itself down. When it was restarted the battery warning was beeping. My husband didn?´t realise what this was and shut the machine down again. When I came to look at it I noticed that although the power light was on there was no light for the battery, neither orange or blue, nothing.
I powered on and checked the battery life which was at about 20%, but although mains power was connected the energy taskbar icon showed that the battery was not charging, in fact it quickly discharged to minimal. I shutdown the machine and then the orange battery light came on for about 5 mins, then went out again. Playing around with this problem, trying to troubleshoot gave some strange and unpredictable results i.e.
    - unplugged and re-connected the power cable at the machine end and then no lights came on, not even mains power light.
    - switched off and on the power at the plug end and both mains and battery (orange) lights came on.
    - the battery charging light went out after about 10 mins.
    - unplugged and re-connected the power at the machine again and this time the mains and battery lights came on - again they went out after about 10 mins.
    - powered on the computer. The power icon showed about 25% power. Powered down the machine again - no lights at all.
    - uplugged and re-connected the power at the machine again and this time mains and battery charging lights came on and stayed on.
    - after about 2 hrs the battery light showed charged (turned blue) and so I disconnected mains power and left it for this morning.
As I suspected, this morning the battery power showed 100%. Everything seems normal (except the battery light went out briefly on starting up the machine, which may well be normal and I've just never paid attention to it before). I disconnected power and let it run on the battery for about 10 mins ( it's plan is Equilibrado which I believe is Balanced). I then reconnected power and it charged back up to 100% as you would expect.
Sorry for the long description but even though all is well now, the strange problems yesterday have left me feeling there is a potentially serious problem within the machine. Has anyone come across anything like this before and what do you think I should do please?

OK - my husband may have got to the bottom of this one but I would very much appreciate an expert opinion.
Our electricity supply is solar energy entirely. When there is not much sun the batteries run down and the power output reduces. What we think is happening is that the supply of energy sometimes does not meet the needs of the computer. It then switches to run on the pc battery, until that of course too runs down and has to shutdown the machine. This would be consistent with the inability to switch it back on to recharge the battery. The battery has run down twice more since the original post (with mains power connected) and on both occasions it was late evening after a poor, cloudy day.
Once our solar system is back up to potential we can switch the pc back on and the battery recharges normally.
If fact, if we are right, this would indicate to me a healthy machine working as it should do. I imagine that switching to battery when the power is low is a safety device to prevent system damage.
Again, if we are right, would a UPS help prolong the time we could use the system on cloudy days?
One little niggle - if you do not notice the battery indicator going down (and we have not done so because it does not go red or flash), the first warning that this situation is about to happen is when it beeps to say it is going to shutdown the computer. I have looked at the battery profile because I would like a warning that the battery is, say, 50% so that I could do something sooner. I cannot see how I can do this. Is it possible?
    Comments please.

  • IPhone 5 shuts down even when battery is not empty

My iPhone shuts down evenw hen i have over 10% battery life left, it even turns off when i walk into a building after walking outside in the cold weather. It's extremelly frustratin as i can no longer rely on my phone as it can turn off any time of the day. What do i do

I have the exact same problem .. sometimes when I use my camera, with plenty of juice, it just shuts down and won't restart claiming the battery is dead ... I plug it in and instantly there is the plenty of juice it had before .. not dead at all... sometimes it happens when I am just using an app ... pretty random actually but VERY inconvenient.
I have always boasted about my iphone being reliable and not having any weird issues ( as opposed to my friends who have Windows phones or other ones) but now ... THIS !!!!??
...... I have resorted to carrying one of those back up batteries in my pocket and a charging cable in my car ...
very inconvenient but until THEY FIX the problem, I can't trust my phone
It is too frequent a problem and occuring with too many people under same conditions to consider it being a battery or phone issue ... whether Apple recognizes it as an OS situation or not .... I do !!!
    FIX IT PLEASE !!!

  • Iphone reboots/shuts down even when plugged in

    Here are the specs:
    iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.4, 16gb, GSM
I've never had any big problems with this phone while using it, but today it randomly shut down, so I thought it might be a battery information glitch, because it has happened with a different iPhone of mine. So, I connected my phone to electricity, it turned on and stayed like that for a while (I had fully charged the phone a few hours ago) and it showed 94% of battery left, which is quite normal. The odd thing was, that it was searching for carrier and it was impossible to turn wi-fi on, the button was not responding. So I went ahead and rebooted the phone, still had the same issue. While still connected to the charger, the phone suddenly died again, showed low battery and turned on again. After a minute or two, the same thing happened again and after another reboot - again, again and again. I tried to reset the settings, still no carrier and still rebooting, even while charging. I tried completely erasing data and settings, but it was impossible to do that, because it asks for the iCloud password. Since it cannot be connected to the internet, there is no way for me to do that. When unplugging the phone, it dies in the same second. Next, I tried connecting the phone to my computer, but I can't even get it to turn on for a minute, because it reboots all the time after a few seconds (doesn't get enough power through the usb, I guess). Tried DFU mode, still no success. While connected to the computer, iTunes won't show the device connected to the computer.
So, there is no way to update the OS through the phone, because there is no way I can connect it to the web, resetting the settings won't do a thing, completely erasing the phone is impossible, because it cannot be connected to the internet, impossible to connect to a computer, because it reboots all the time, so no way to restore the phone. Basically, I can't really do anything with it.
I searched all over the internet for a solution, but couldn't find a single article about an issue like this. Is there anything that comes up in your mind, that might help? If so, please post an answer.

Oh, forgot to mention. No, it's not jailbroken.

  • HT1766 When I have iCloud Backup ON, the battery runs down on my iphone really quickly.  Is there any way of avoiding this ?  Thanks

When I have iCloud Backup ON, the battery runs down on my iphone really really quickly.  Is there any way of avoiding this.  I want to backup my iphone but don't want to be recharging all day.  Many thanks

Are you sure the iCloud backup is causing this?  Unless you initiate an iCloud backup manually, it will only back up once per day when the phone is connected to your charger and wi-fi and has the screen locked.  It shouldn't otherwise be consuming any power.

  • HT4060 Should I let the battery run down before charging my iPad or iPhone to help the battery last longer?

Should I let the battery run down before charging my iPad or iPhone or iPod Nano to help the battery last longer?  I took a class at Verizon and they said let it drain completely and it would last longer.  Thanks

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • The iPhone 4S battery runs down very quickly.   Does anyone else have this problem?

The battery in my new iPhone 4s runs down very quickly.  Does anyone else have this problem?

Location services is NOT running all the time, only when the arrow appears in the message bar. It is not a major consumer of power unless you are actively using it (such as using the Maps app), and even then it is a minor factor in battery life; loading maps is the big user of power in the Maps app. And turning off Location Services defeats Find my iPhone.
There are only 2 heavy battery consumers, cellular data and interactive games. Everything else (bluetooth, location services, WiFi, etc) are tiny in comparison to these and will not make a significant difference in battery life.

  • Why is my battery running down on an iPhone 4 running iOS 7?

Why is my battery running down on my iPhone 4 when I'm not using my phone and all apps are closed?  My phone will have a full charge at night, no apps running. Bluetooth is off, automatic updates are off, backgroud app refresh is off, and by morning the battery's charge has dropped to 50%.  Some nights it will only drop 1-2% though, with no changes made. How can I fix this?
Also, since the update I am not receiving push notifications for some apps that I have them turned on for (turned on both in settings, and the app itself).
Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated.

I had been having battery problems with my Iphone 5 and decided to make a trip to the genuis bar, in the end they replaced my battery and reset my software because i had a failing battery and the hardware was malfunctioning. You may have something similar. I would recommend making a reservation to the genius bar online. They can then run a diagnostic on your iphone and get back detailed results on the current condition of your battery and wether or not the software controlling it is working. If you have applecare currently then they can replace the battery for free, if not there is a charge of around $70. If it turns out you have a different problem than they probably will be able to find out and give you better advice than I can!
    Good Luck!

The on-device battery meter is 'off sync' with the actual battery charge. There are a couple of ways you can try to repair this...
Leave the device to charge an hours or so, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. Watch over the next couple of days to see if the charge and the battery use is in sync.
Roughly every 30 charges, deliberately discharge your battery to 10-15%, and fully charge to 100% afterwards. This will help maintain the accuracy of the “fuel gauge” on the device (your battery meter or scale).
Don’t drain your battery every day to 10-20% of its charge. You can actually expect battery problems by draining the battery. Again, to repeat, top-off your charge during the day whenever convenient – even ten minutes in the car or at your desk will give you an extra 20-25% charge.

  • Memory content lost when the battery runs down

My computer sometimes saves memory content when the battery runs down, as it is supposed to, so that when it restarts it is restored to the state it was in,  but at other times it does not.
Is there a way to find out why this is and fix it?

    Thanks for the reply.
Doesn't Apple recommend that you do exercise the battery by using its full capacity? They even recommend running it down from full until the computer saves the contents of memory to the special file, then leaving it 5 hours before charging fully again.
I have never heard of the 20% threshold before.
The odd behaviour in my case is that the computer sometimes does what is should: saves the memory then shuts down and when started restores that data, but at others does not save the data first, and starts up normally when I plug in the power and switch on.

  • Playlist disappears when the battery runs down ...

Anyone experienced this? The battery runs flat, then when you recharge, the playlist is empty, and it's impossible to use the iPod. But when you connect it to a computer ... any computer, using a USB ... bingo! Back comes the playlist! Lesson? Don't let the battery die down. But this is kind of hard to control.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • My phone doesnt hold it's charge and runs hot even when shut down.  what can i do to fix.

My pone will not hold it's charge as long as it should and runs hot even when shut down.

Shutdown all apps that may be running in the background by double clicking the home button, touch and hold an app until they all start to jiggle, then one at a a time dismiss each.  Then turn off all services you don't need, such as Bluetooth if you don't use it.
Fully charge and see how the iPhone works, does it retain charge, run at a normal temp?  If it still is hot, etc., take it to an Apple store genius bar for testing by the techs.

  • I have a iphone 4s on ios6 battery run down fast help plz

I have a iphone 4s on ios6 battery run down fast help plz

Apple is infamous for being restrictive and controlling.
The iPhone also doesn't connect to faster 4G networks, except the 4S version from AT&T, but whether you'll see noticeably faster speeds will likely be hit or miss. If you own a apple product? I feel for you, it like owning that old beat up rusty car you have to park way out back in the parking lot, and you pray no one see's you getting out of it.
Android phones are like PCs - they are extremely customizable - by carriers, handset makers and owners. Virtual keyboards, phone dialers, wallpaper, home screen widgets and much more can be done.
All told, Android is likely to be the Windows PC equivalent in the smart phone market, and the operating system is well-positioned to soon  become the leading smart phone platform in the United States.
In closing, if you like being led around by the hand, go and get yourself one of those iPhones, and then stop crying about what you can not do with it.
