Iphone "better" than any Nokia?

Well, it is not an easy subject since there are many "religious" Nokia fans on this forum. The information I will give is objective, and based on my experienced with both brands. First of all, the simplity of Iphones compared to symbian and windows mobile (is also a HTC user), are like 2 different worlds. In USA, Africa and other contries, the inhabitants are analphabets. Iphone is genious since it only have 1 button (the on/ plus volume is extra). it has extremely self explained symbols on the screen. That make it easy to use both for ordinary analphabets, but also for "technical" analphabets. The second is that you easely can change many language and tastateur input. If you choose chinese you can also chose to "draw" the chinese letters on the screen!!!
Symbian and windows mobile are to difficult to use. I see other places in this forum that the discussion is about if Iphone is a smartphone or not! What a waste of time! I also have a N97 that stopped to work after one week. The display got extremely hot (almost fire). The tastateur can be used, but N97 is badly constructed! I can not get acess to all symbols on the tastateur, I need to have the display. So, is Nokia still your favourite?

Ur daughter's Nokia mobile was soaped for 45 mins after which u took it and opened it cleaned and made it to run again first u will void ur cell phone's warranty and can u do the same to ur Iphone

N97 is badly constructed, there are lot of N97 buyers who purchased for it solid,Robust design and found it to be great there was not even a single complaint that the Build quality was not Satisfying or clunky
Sorry for ur display becoming Hot could be a hardware defect which neeeds to be checked and inspected in a Nokia care center or u can ask for a replacement
Rest of what an iphone cannot do for a basic user who wants his mobile to do such basic things was justified by Grschinon very well
At last YES Nokia is my favourite for lot of reasons

Since nearly all people here have Macs, we obviously felt they were worth the price. "Much better than any other laptop" is a fairly subjective statement. All the major manufacturers have excellent high-end options. When comparing prices, you need to compare similar specifications and quality. You can certainly get cheaper PC computers, but similarly spec'd machines with similar build quality are generally around the same price (and actually sometimes somewhat higher).
The areas that most of us would agree puts Apple at the top are OS X, quality/design, and customer service. Only Macs can run OS X. For those of us that use OS X, we typically prefer it over Windows (by quite a bit). However, this isn't always a positive for someone moving over from Windows. There is a little bit of a learning curve. If you are going to need to be able to do everything you want, you need to understand that it might take a little time to figure everything out. You can install Windows alongside the Mac OS to help make the transition a little easier, but that requires that you purchase a copy of Windows. So far as quality and design... Apple has always been a leader in this area. However, as I had mentioned earlier, most major manufacturers have caught up in this area... at least with respect to their high-end offerings. It's really a matter of preference in terms of which you like more. No one offers the same level of customer service that you'll get from Apple. No other manufacturer has retail stores like Apple where you can go in with your machine and have someone (who knows about Apple products) check out your machine on the spot. Their phone support is also excellent and their user support community (where you're at now) is second to none.
So... most of us would agree that we feel Apple products are "better". But if you were to go to a typica PC forum and ask the same question, you'll find people who would argue fanatically that they're not. The reality is that there isn't that much of a difference in the hardware. You need to decide if something like the OS (which you probably don't have much experience using), design, and support are important to you.

Original iPhone Better than iPhone 4?

I have been using the very original iPhone for years, and upgraded to the iPhone 4 as soon as I could. The day I switched phones I lost all coverage inside my office. I now have the new bumper from Apple, but it's still not even close to the awesome coverage of the original. Any ideas on better bumpers to get or a way to solve this?

Try switching 3G off and using Edge connection. Since you were using the original iPhone, you were on Edge only and saw that better coverage.
The minute you switch to iPhone 4, you started using 3G. Your office may not have good 3G coverage there and better coverage on Edge.

How many pepole like the white iPhone better than the black one

So I have been thinking about getting a white IPhone over the black one and was just curious how many pepole prefer the white over the black one I like the white one cause it is different and starting to grow on me plus not very many pepole have the white one I don't see to many guys with the white one but don't get. Me wrong I have seen a few any way my questions is how many men have the white one ? Sorry gals just curious on this one

Is the resolution on the iPad mini retina better than any other retina?

The 1st gen iPad mini had the same resolution as ipad 2. Becasue the mini is smaller than the 2 the pixels were denser.
So my question is... Is the resolution on the iPad mini retina better or denser than other retina screens found on other devices?

Resolution is iMovie is always better than any other exported version

Hi folks -
I've used iMovie to make a few montages (photos/music/some video). When I watch the "movie" on iMovie it looks great - crisp, high resolution. But when I choose any format to compress it to, even the highest resolution, it is automatically degraded. Is there any way I can save the final cut in a resolution that won't lose image quality? Right now I've been keeping the iMovie working file on my hard drive (taking up a ridiculous amount of space) because it's the best way to watch it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No. Exporting from iMovie 6.0.3/4 (other versions like iMovie 4.0.1 may behave differently...) via File > Export > QuickTime > Full Quality preserves all quality of a iMovie DV project.
I archive my edited iMovie clips as <9 min 30 sec clips exported this way as .dv files.
Exporting to tape also preserves all quality but then you may get some dropped frames...
...by default QuickTime Player has low quality deinterlaced playback of DV-encoded clips -- you have to turn on high quality playback of the clip to see all quality. In QT 7 you do this via enabling "Window/Show Movie Properties/Video Track/Visual Settings/High Quality" setting -- do not enable "Single Field" or "Deinterlace" because they deinterlace playback. You can also set "QuickTime Player 7/Preferences.../General/Use high quality video setting when available" to check the "High Quality" box by default (notice that the "Single Field" or "Deinterlace" boxes may have been saved to the file so sometimes you must take care to uncheck them).

Apple itself does not respond to questions on the Apple Support Communities forums. Responses come from other Mac users like yourself. We don't know what Apple plans on doing but I am not sure the iPod Touch has the computing power to do Siri.

Is the iPhone 5c better than the 4 or 4s?

My son dropped his iPhone several times, so we are looking to replace it. The 5c in green is his choice. Is this iPhone better than or the same as the 4/s generation? He does not need a super phone, he does a lot of texting and some game apps, as well as things like dictionary apps. Yes, he does call sometimes. Any comparisons would be helpful in choosing his next iPhone.

The 4 and 4S are discontinued. The 5c is essentially the original 5 in a plastic housing. Yes, it's better.

TableLayout... better than GridBagLayout and easier to boot.

Just in case any of you haven't seen this, if you go to java.sun.com and do a search on TableLayout, you'll find a very powerful easy to use and dynamic layout that I feel is far better than any other layout for most tasks. It automatically resizes components to the cell sizes, you can position them within cells, expand them across cells, and dynamically add/remove and hide/show cells (for both columns and rows) at any time. This last one I think is great because it avoids things like having to create two JPanels, one for a short form, and one for a much more involved form. I suppose there might be other ways, but with TableLayout, you simply supply the long form, hide the rows/cells you don't need for the short form, then show them again if the long form is desired. It is simple to use too. Much like a spread sheet or JTable, you just position a component into a container with a TableLayout into an appropriate defined cell in x,y fashion.

One question,
I have a couple of components that I have in a panel. I have used the option FILL, to make all components the same size. This result in that the last component get a bigger space then the others. If I make the window smaller it first resizes the last component til it is the same size as all the others. If I make my panel even smaller, the last component gets a bigger space then the others again.
Is there a way to always have the same size of the components ?

Is the reception of iPhone 5c better than 5s.

Was advised at a Telstra store that the reception of the iPhone 5s was worse than that of the 5c. Am thinking of upgrading from 4s.

Not sure about the 5C but the 5S is hugely worse than the 4S for data. And tethering is a dead loss in poor signal areas where it would work reliably with the 4S.
However it's not that simple - the 5S voice call performance seems BETTER than the 4S. I did a 45 minute call yesterday during a drive through several known blackspots where my 4S and indeed other non-Apple phones reliably drop the call, and not only did the 5S maintain the call but I didn't even have any dropped audio at all.
But despite the audio being solid I couldn't get ANY data out of it at all - and yes it was on 3G so should have been able to do voice and data simultaneously.
So my guess is a serious bug in the firmware or baseband around data handling rather than inherently poorer hardware in the 5S. Or at least that's what I hope as one wouldn't expect a newer phone to be worse than the previous model especially after the bizarre mess of the iPhone 4 and antennagate!

Like almost everything in this world is a matter of choice, but, if it is to logically make a choice here are a few criteria you should consider before picking up a smartphone:
Do you really need it? - if not, the money will stay better in your account;
Set up the budget and consider the fact that smartphones get upgrades faster than computers and laptops, will you be able to upgrade?
Which operating system are you familiar with?
What are your needs and expectations from the smartphone?
What type of person you are (email/chat/SMS/Social Media-man aka. communications, multimedia, productivity, gamer, etc.) this will help you chose the appropriate hardware and check out what are your options regarding the existing applications for your needs;
Are you always on the run or work in an office? - this will help you decide from the battery life point of view;
If you own a tablet you might just need a simple smartphone.
Samsung does not really innovate in terms of functionality and usability, they only copy what others do and make it their own way. Android is not a mature operating system, yet. I like some of its features, of course, but I can rely on it when it comes to productivity as I'm a person who sends 100's of emails per day and need to easily manage the messages.
You can have the best hardware in the world but that's useless if you operating system is bad at managing those resources, you will not be able to exploit the device to the fullest and you might cry over the money you've spent :-) Nevertheless Samsung has a large market share, makes good phones, but not quite smart, they are rather... intelligent, a smartphone is smart from the day you buy it, you don't have to put it in training mode :-)
As about Lumia, I don't have much to say, it's what iPhone had at the iPhone 4 version minus the 40MP camera and the operating system. If I want a good camera then I buy a camera, a Canon or Nikon :-) Yes, the Krait CPU, so what? That CPU is managed by a Wi*dows OS and that should say everything. I'm not against Micr*soft, they had/have their part in technology progress, but I'm more into stable operating systems, I'd chose Android over Wi*dows, yet Nokia were always great at hardware and batery life. Bad choice for Nokia, look at their sales and you will understand.
That's just my two cents, but iPhone is the choice of millions when they chose their first smartphone: is user friendly, solid, great hardware specs, lovely screen, wonderful support, high-level security, multimedia at its best, a design that catches the eye, looks and feels great in your hand, it's light, you have millions of verified apps in the store and a nice community to tell you all these :-)

Nokia 5610 Firmare 6.60, how far better than Firmw...

I know that Nokia takes its own sweet time to release firmware for any of their given phone models, typically 6 months or more.
Considering the release time and the problems of restoring older firmware, how far the firmware v 06.60 is better than 4.81?
Are the common problems like the one mentioned below, are solved? : -
1. Phone restarting
2. Jitter playback of video files of 30 fps. REMEMBER, the phone is incapable of playing video files smoothly, which are of 30 fps!
3. Phone hanging
Overall, what does firmware version v 06.60 offer? What good it does to the phone? If not good, What bad it does to the phone
Is it recommended to existing phone owners to upgrade their phone firmware from 4.xx to 6.60?

I didn't feel anything better or worse in v6.60.
The major issue, hanging while playing music is still persist.

Bluetooth stereo headsets - any out there better than S9-HD, 9xxbackbeat

and jaybird? I have owned all three brands in the last month trying to find the best pair possible (thanks to best buys return policy) however, I'm looking for something a little more high end. I can not find any other ones that are higher priced or appear to be better than these "big three" at the moment.

I just got my S9-HD with the D650. I followed the directions from Motorola to set up the D650 for iPod.
Turn off Bluetooth on the iPhone.
Plug in the D650.
Put the phone in iPod mode, start a song and press PAUSE.
Then turn on the S9-HD power to put it in search mode.
Let the D650 find the headset and pair it. The light starts flashing slowly when it's paired.
Then, unplug the D650, turn off iPod mode, and go to Settings on the iPhone and turn Bluetooth on.
Restart the S9 headset back in search mode until the iPhone finds it an pairs.
Now, the phone headset works fine. When you plug the D650 in and listen to the iPod (works fine). But when you try to go to the phone mode while the D650 is plugged in, it won't stay in the phone mode. It just pops up and shuts right back down. So it doesn't appear that the phone headset will interrupt the music and allow you to use the phone as long as the D650 is plugged in.
Any help?

ALways go for the larger capacity with new apps coming out they will require alot more space if u havent got the space to use then what happens is you end up deleting stuff to make room alot of hassle ,more is always better...
