Iphone bluetooth file transfer

Can someone kindly help and let me know if its possible to send a file (a picture or a video file) from a bluetooth enabled mobile phone to the iphone. Tried doing the same but the iphone does'nt recognise any other device (like a bluetooth enabled mobile phone- for example the nokia 6300)
A quick response would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

No, pal.
First, Bluetooth is restricted by Apple to use headsets only. I just tried with a Nokia BH-700, and works smoothly with it.
The very fisrt day I had the iPhone I wanted to send some files to it via Bluetooth from my mac and it was (and it is) impossible. This is obvious because Apple would not aloud any other file transferring outside from iTunes, nor contacts or vCards via Bluetooth, nothing at all.
Any third party software? I don't think so if this would jeopardize this level of security that Apple has stablished. If it is an App to accept some unharmful files (like text, vCards or so) maybe yes. Don't know really.
About 3gp.
This format is not supported for iPhone, only .m4v. Then again, Apple stablished this format to be the one and only approved to be played on iPhone. It has to do with a security issue as well, but this format is very good to be seen in your device. It has a great video and audio quality.
In my case, when I want some Quicktime trailers, personal clips or videos that I do in my job to be in my iPhone, I export them as a .m4v through Quicktime Pro.
You simply open the file (even a 3gp can be opened), select file/export/Movie to iPhone, wait until is exported... open iTunes and import in you iTunes Movies section.
So, when you synchronize your iPhone you can get your videos on it.
Some other way... impossible until now.
Hope this helps some...

iPhone contacts: file transfer to Windows 7 via USB-cable
My iPhone can communicate with the computer only via USB-cable (no mobile data, no bluetooth, no internet, no outlook). As I want to get the phone to the "doctor" I want to save specifically my contact data and calendar details on the computer (OS: Windows 7). How can I solve this task? I will appreciate your valuable information, thanks.

Using the iPhone, the USB cable, iTunes and Windows Contacts, sync the iPhone contacts to Windows Contacts. That will save them there. They are also included in the iPhone backup made in iTunes, and if you use iCloud.
I'm sorry, I missed the calendar part the first time I looked. For calendar, you need a supported application on the computer (Outlook) or if you use iCloud, you can use the iCloud contacts and calendar app to sync.

  • Disable Bluetooth File Transfer - Windows 7

How do I disable Bluetooth file transfer for Windows 7? I am planning to see if it can be done via Group Policy (custom adm or GPP) or by creating a power shell script.

    Hi,
For Bluetooth devices, try this :
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd252791.aspx.
If it doesn't work, You may also try to use GPP Services to disable the Bluetooth Support Service (BthServ).

  • Nokia lumia 610 ringtone, and bluetooth file transf...

i have nokia 610 and i have donwloaded a ringtone from marketplace i mean song and i want to set it as my ringtone
what should i do in order to set that song as my ringing tone pls tell
and more thing if i want to send any file to other mobile do i need a special software or anything like that
    thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Once you have downloaded and saved the new ringtone, you can set it as your ringtone by going to Settings>Ringtones&Sounds>Ringtone, Scroll to the top because this is where you will find all your downloaded ringtone. Just select the one you want to use.
Your Lumia 610 does not support bluetooth file transfer for the moment. However, this feature will be added with the next WP7.8 update which is due soon. In the mean time you can transfer files to other phones by using Skydrive or by emailing.

  • Bluetooth file transfer from BB Z10 to Windows 7 Laptop

I have my BBZ10 (OS 10.2.0.424) successfully paired with Windows 7 Laptop. I often use the BBZ10 BT Internet Teethering. It works very well.
However, when I want to transfer a file from BBZ10 to my Laptop. I follow this process
In the background the Internet Teethering is ON, and working
select the file in Z10 File Manager.
click on share icon to share using BLUETOOTH
Before pressing the name of my paired devices on Z10. I click Bluetooth icon on laptop and select 'receive a file'. This opens a box showing the laptop is waiting in receive mode.
Then I select my paired computer name on Z10 to initiate transfer.
The transfer bar appears on Z10 showing the progress, but in 4-5 seconds, it says 'TRANSFER CANCELLED'.
And on my laptop it says 'BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER NOT COMPLETED'.
i have used exactly same process with my BB 9800 several times with success.
Another thing I note is, if the Internet teethering is OFF, I cannot turn BT connection to the laptop on. It come up with error message ' Cant' connect , you must turn on internet teethering on yoru device.'
    Please troubleshoot.

    hi eddie-n200,
Can you send a file from the laptop to the cellphone? If you can, check if the "Allow remote devices to browse, send, and receive pictures, music, and other files" option is enabled on the BT settings:
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
As an alternative, you may also want to try Bluesoleil or similar software to send/receive from the laptop.
    Edit: Added image
    Hope this helps

  • Bluetooth file transfer from Sharp GX29 mobile phone to iBook

    hello all,
got a new sharp gx29 mobile phone.
    problem:
cannot send files via bluetooth to my ibook.
but can send from ibook to Sharp.
when trying to send from phone, a dialog window opens on mac os x, asking whether accept or cancel the transfer.
no matter how many times i click on accept, nothing happens, sometimes it hits it, and goes further to a transfer dialog window with the transfer progress bar, but it starts to transfer and stops at about 5-10%, and nothing happens.
Any one has Sharp GX series and problems like me?
I know that Sharp is not supported by isync, but that's not what I am trying to do (isync), just a normal file transfer.
    Thnx
    Tom

I myself have missed the obvious many times so I'm going to ask.
In System Preferences/Bluetooth/Sharing. Do you have: Bluetooth File Transfer and File Exchange checked???? Then make sure your settings in the pop up menus on the right are correct.
If you have everything set properly in Bluetooth preferences on your iBook then you might try the Sharp web site for troubleshooting since you can't send files via Bluetooth to your iBook, not the other way around. Sounds like maybe your Sharp possibly has something blocked somewhere...

  • Ipod touch bluetooth file transfer

I recently asked about file transfer from an ipod touch to my Mac Mini (Lion 10.7.3) and the answer was it could not be done.  I am just an old retired mainframe systems programmer (well, Sun Solaris also) but I have dealt with a LOT of data transfer methods between computers with different architectures.  So my next question is DUH! why can't you do file transfers between an ipod touch and a mac  via Bluetooth ??!!

Because Apple has chosen not to make this a feature of the ipod/iphone/ipad.

  • Hide the Bluetooth File Transfer Window

Can anyone give me any clues as to how I could stop the File transfer WIndow appearing when I Bluetooth an image from phone to my Mac?
It is the Obex Agent window. That says Incoming File etc
It will appear over any open applications right in the centre of the screen. I have tried instantly hiding it when it appears with Applescript but this is not quite good enough for my purposes.
Any idea how I can ideally disable it. Or at least move its location.
Or a better place to ask for help?
    Thanks
    Gavin

Apple aren't here. You won't get a response from Apple on this user-to-user help forum.
Although speculation on Apple policies is not permitted on this forum, it has been previously speculated frequently, that the reasons for not allowing Bluetooth file transfers are:
    1) Bluetooth is too slow for transferring multi-megabyte / gigabyte media files that iOS devices typically store. There are much faster ways of transferring files, not limited by arbitrary distances Bluetooth is.
    2) Allowing file transfers would allow illegal sharing of copyrighted music and video files. Apple has a duty to protect such files from easy sharing due to agreements with the copyright holders for whom they sell this copyrighted content in the iTunes Store.

  • When is the bluetooth file transfer to Android going to be fixed?!

Unable to properly connect an Android phone using Bluetooth File Exchange on MacBook Pro with 10.8.2. The Mac is able to connect to the phone, but only to send files or browse, not get them from the phone. This was not the case with the same phone and a MacBook Pro with 10.6. Any fixes?

I uploaded ios 8.0.2 on my iPhone 6 128 GB today 9-29-14 due to problems with Bluetooth talking to my ReSound Linx hearing aids to hopefully fix the problem. It sounds like the Bluetooth looses connection to the hearing aids and turns them off for about 1 1/2 minutes, then they come back on and I can hear again. I understand there are problems with Bluetooth and cars using the phone. I believe this Bluetooth problem is causing my hearing aid problem as my hearing aids connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth and the ReSound Smart App. I tried the reset fix, Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings as some have suggested but that did not resolve this issue either. I can't believe Apple is not talking about this ios 8.0.2 Bluetooth problem. This affects my everyday life in that I cannot hear when the Bluetooth drops.Try working with your hearing dropping every few minutes! If Apple wants in the Health field, I suggest they take their QA a little bit more serious than they are at present. Whomever was responsible for testing ios 8, 8.0.1 & 8.0.2 should be fired! This is causing more trouble than anyone can imagine. I understand the car - Bluetooth problem but think about the fact that if every time the Bluetooth drops, you can't hear.My job could be in jeopardy. I posted the problem to Apple Support and they will not even have the decency to respond with even a "we are sorry." How long do I have to go without being able to hear before Apple responds??????

  • Bluetooth File Transfer Problem with Video Clips -...

    Hello!
I am posting this problem even though a similar one is claimed to be solved ...
I have a similar Problem with BT video clip file transfer in my E5-00 as someone had earlier with music files (SW up to date). Except that in this case the files are unique video clips received from one of the latest Samsung Android phones via Bluetooth (don't ask me which format).
Tried the obvious first, using Windows File Manager over USB. Even Windows Search could not locate the files, not even using wildcards.
Also tried using Ovi Suite Syncronisation, but the files did not appear in either Photos/Videos or Messages (even though the files are in the SMS Inbox - does not make sense why).
The problem in applying the solution approach presented here for Music seems to be that the files cannot be played at all in my E5-00's. Therefore I don't get as far as to the menu where the E5 would ask whether or not the files should be saved or not.
So far I have not been able to connect to an old bluetooth laptop (Windows XP) so that the Bluetooth Exchange would connect let alone seen whether the BTexchange works in this case or not.
Is there any other chance of getting to the files through the directory structure? If so, please give me the (Windows) directory path? Any other advice than switching to Android?

Unfortunately I have reached an impasse.  If I touch a video clip (in organizer) the system crashes.  I mean locked up cold. I'm not sure what has caused this but I do know that I will not be able to communicate correctly or sufficiently with you in order for you to help me out.
I've found PS and Premier to be very difficult to work with.  Very, very frustrating.  Photography, both still and video, is not as enjoyable as it once was.
Again, I very much appreciate your initial help and if I get to a point where I've improved my situation ... I'll reach out again.  Thanks

  • Bluetooth file transfer fails after a second.

Strange issue. Can transfer a file from my C510 to my Ku990 Phone and then to the T400. However can not transfer files from my C510 to my T400. The transfer starts then after around a second shops saying it's failed. Have the drivers updated from win update and the latest firmware on my phone. Anyone had anything simiar or know what is wrong?

I'm afraid I can't help with finding the temporary file. I just did a BT File Transfer myself whilst monitoring my system but no new or modified files showed up.
However, Bluetooth really isn't designed for transferring gigabytes of data due to its very low transfer speeds.
If the computers are close enough for Bluetooth, you're far better off connecting an Ethernet or Firewire cable between the two and transferring that way. 6GB of data would transfer in a matter of minutes, rather than hours (or days) over Bluetooth.

  • Macbook to Blackberry Bold bluetooth file transfer failed

I successfully paired my macbook with my blackberry bold. I sent one picture from my mac to the blackberry. But since, then i have not been able to successfully transfer any files to the blackberry.
I get the transfer going and the progress bar starts and runs quickly to 100% and then says transfer failed.
Any ideas on what might be happening or what I could do to fix it?

The iPod does not have the necessary BT profiles to support file transfer.

  • Samsung Charge - Hyundi Santa Fe Bluetooth File Transfer

I connect via bluetooth between the subject devices but cannot effect a file transfer of contacts from phone to car.  Have tried the Bluetooth Fike Transfer app but it errors and doesn't work.  Any idea whe Samsung will add the ,issing drivers to do this file transfer or any other suggestions?  Kind of screwa up the purpose of "hands free driving" if you can't voice dial a contact.  Thanks,

    Hello billhotchmuth,
I understand the convenience that you can get from having the voice dial feature fully integrated to your car.  May I ask what year is your vehicle? Do you have the Touch Navigation system or just standard audio?  I have referenced our Charge Car Bluetooth guide and Hyundai's Bluetooth site and at this time the Charge does not have a listed compatibility with Hyundai vehicles.  While this does not mean it shouldn't pair at all but some features may not be available.  If you provide the vehicle details I can see what can be done to forward this information to Samsung.  Please let me know if I can assist further.

  • No bluetooth file transfer still?

I'm confirming that I can't transfer a photo I took on my iPhone 4 and transfer it to my MacBook Pro via bluetooth method.
Can't be done with BT.  It can be done with wifi and iCloud.
Or you can just use the cable and transfer the pic like you would with any other digital camera.

  • Why the Bluetooth file transfer to other smart devices is not supported by apple? I am seeing only the lame excuse "that it only supports apple devices and not other". Knowing that only I'm posting this question to apple support people...

APPLE never answers this question. I love apple products but this kind of useless restriction drawing itself back to the underground...they only answer what the device can do and they never answer why the device can't do that? I want to directly post this question to apple.
