IPhone Bluetooth?

I cannot get my iPhone, in Bluetooth mode, to 'discover' any devices--neither my MacBook Pro, with BT turned on, nor my Moto H700 headset. Both of them worked fine with my Moto Razr before I got the iPhone.
iPhone goes into "Now discoverable...searching for devices' but in a couple of minutes does not find any devices with which to pair. My Mac also does not see the iPhone as a BT device in the BT control panel->Devices list. Nothing in the iPhone Users Guide about this problem.
iPhone + MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Perhaps many devices like keyboards and mice are not supported. Maybe the only bluetooth compatible devices are the earpieces. For now.

You cannot pair a MacBook (or any computer for that matter) with an iDevice. That function is not supported.

3GS doesn't fit into iPhone Bluetooth Headset cradle?

Just got my first iPhone, the 3GS. However, I already own the iPhone Bluetooth headset, which comes with a cradle that it supposed to accommodate the bluetooth and the iPhone. Since the new 3GS supposedly has the same dimensions as previous phones, it should fit, right?
I tried putting the 3GS into the cradle and the latter was a tiny bit too small. The phone almost fit in the port but didn't, and I didn't want to force it. Anyone know if it's supposed to fit?

It is not supposed to fit, and murray65 is correct - Apple never made a dual dock for the iPhone 3G, and in fact, early this year they discontinued the Apple Bluetooth Headset. You can either just use the travel cable to charge both devices, or you can use a Dremel (or carton knife, etc.) to widen the opening in the dock for the iPhone to accommodate the slightly larger and more rounded iPhone 3GS. If you trying to transfer documents via bluetooth between the iPad and iPhone then you can't as it's not supported - bluetooth on the iPad is aimed at devices such as headphones and keyboards. A full list of the supported bluetooth profiles is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647

There are some 3rd party apps that provide for transferring select data via bluetooth with your computer.
This is for security reasons especially with a very insecure Android device.

I have been able to pair my iphone (bluetooth) and use the modem with Windows 7 but I'm unable to add this new connection method to Access Connections (version 5.42).

Iphone bluetooth charging cradle--not made to work with iphone??

About every 5 minutes, my iphone pops up with a note that "this accessory is not made to work with iphone", whenever it's in the charging cradle that came with the apple bluetooth earpiece. Anybody else see this? any idea what's up? I just love the inability to get direct communication with apple on the topic.

I have the same problem. The same pop-up comes up when I plug the iPhone into the cradle that comes with the Apple-branded iPhone bluetooth headpiece. It didn't use to have this problem before, and the iPhone used to recognize the headset as also charging when both were in the cradle. Now, the headset does not even charge up when the iPhone is in the cradle at the same time!! I think the latest iPhone firmware upgrade messed up everything!! HELP!!!!

Try toggle Bluetooth off and on. You can also try a reset all settings (your content won't be deleted).

Yes. I had an iPhone 3G and when upgraded to 6.1 the bluetooth connectivity failed progressively and eventually the phone just wouldn't connect. I broke and reestablished the pairing am few times and each time it would work for a while then disconnect to the extent I thought the bluetooth hardware in the car was failing. I then got an iPhone 5 and the same issue remained. In the last few days I've paired an old Blackberry with the car kit to rule out the BMW hardware. Blackberry is fine so it has to be iOS incompatibility.

The simplest answer is that the existing Bluetooth is not suitable for this purpose. With a max speed of 2.1 Mbps (0.5% that of USB), it would be pretty painful to use for this purpose - a backup of a 16GB iPhone would take a whole day. Transfer a movie? It would take an hour.
On top of that, Bluetooth doesn't provide a standard mechanism for the type of data transfer and synching that iPhone needs -- they'd have to write their own propriety one and you'd still have to use proprietary software to do the data transfer / synching.
A better mechanism would be standard Wi-Fi, which would be MUCH faster than Bluetooth and for which the protocols necessary are already in place. It's still comparatively slow to USB (about 10% that of USB), but much faster than Bluetooth. However, it appears that Apple's research has led them to believe that waiting an hour or two for the phone to backup over Wi-Fi using the existing mechanism is still undesirable.
From what they've indicated about iOS5, however, it seems that they will be supporting more over-the-air updating and synching mechanisms, meaning that, for the first time, you can do most everything but backup the phone without iTunes (though document exchange for certain apps is much faster and easier with iTunes, it won't be necessary).

IPhone Bluetooth Headset - after five months in the backyard

About five months ago I lost my iPhone Bluetooth headset. This headset is so small and slippery that I'd almost lost it several times. This time I searched everywhere, but no luck. Well, this week we were dog-sitting for friends, and this dog loves to fetch. I left her outside when I went to work, and when I came home I walked into the backyard and looked down at a small black object just beyond the patio. I recognized my headset right away -- she must have found it in the yard or garden. After I cleaned off the dirt, it looked like new. I let it air out overnight and then charged it up. Despite five months of sprinklers, rain, and dirt, it works like new.
I've dropped my iPhone enough to know how tough it is, but ounce for ounce, this headset is even tougher.

The new bluetooth headset from Apple will not play music at all. Mono bluetooth headsets aren't designed for said purpose. The format for doing so is called A2DP and it is currently not available on the iPhone. But there is a good chance that this might be remedied in a future software update.

I'm curious how the dual dock charges the iPhone bluetooth headset. It looks like the area where the microphone is on the headset is also the charging contacts. Is that so?

has anyone else had a problem using an iphone bluetooth headset in close proximity to an bluetooth keyboard? If i wake up or boot up my macbook pro when my headset is switched on and close by, the keyboard will not connect to the mac! any ideas anyone please?

I have found that having my WiFi on at the same time I try to pair with my Plantronics 925 prevents me from hooking up. If you have WiFi you may want to turn it off why you pair. Once paired you can then turn your WiFi back on with no problems.
