IPhone books

Has anyone bought/read any of those iPhone books that are out? ("The missing Manual & How to do everything with your iPhone).
If so, are they any good?

I looked at both of them yesterday at the local Apple Store. My impression was they contain the same info as the user manual. Neither seemed to be much more in-depth, although both had a lot of screen display pictures of the various phone functions.
I decided I could reserve spending the rest of my $200 store credit on something else.

3rd party Iphone books. Are these any good?

Everyone knows that Apple is notorious for their lack of written documentation regarding their products. You get a little booklet with little or no information and either a web site or a electronoc file with a to fill in the rest of the documentation. Again the electronic files and the booklet do not get into great detail about the product nuances. I have beeen looking at two Iphone books that seem to be good but I am not sure if there are any better 3rd party books. The two that I looked at are:

Never mind. I just realized I totally misread your question... I't is still early for me!
I am hoping that any booklets would be from Apple and not Verizon. It would only make sense since Verizon will do none of the service on them, only Apple. But, we all know what "it would only make sense" usually gets us. Maybe hold of on them until you actually see what you get.

What happens if you go to iTunes > File > Devices, do you get the option to Sync iPhone?

I've removed the files from my iTunes library folders, but they still show up with icons in the Books sync window for my phone and iPad.

Leave it to Safari to crash and not finish my post. I've deleted all of my hard copies within iTunes..Here is a screen shot of where I'd like to remove the pdf files.
I can't highlight the pdf and hit delete from here. Any reference of the 2 willamette books I've deleted, but they are still there....ideas?

I got an iPad (3) and set it up on my laptop (Windows 7) with my iPhone (4). The iTunes upgrade (before 6) crashed iTunes. I couldn't get iTunes to run again until upgraded to 6. Now nothing will sync. I have a small fraction of my apps. Help, please.

According to my laptop, when I hook up my iPhone, either I hit an error of "user defined breakpoint" or it's having issues recognizing the iPad (when the iPhone is hooked up).
I've also tried installing iTunes on my work computer, but it won't recognize the phone unless I update iTunes. When I try to update, I get errors and iTunes crashes.
I'm worried because I haven't backed up my phone or pad in over 2 months and nothing I'm trying works.

iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

Problem Uploading book

I am beside myself trying to purchase an IPhone Book. I am unable to upload the book. I have tried everything and am ready to purchase somewhere else. I tried shutting down wireless and going directly to the internet and still get message half way through that uploading stopped and retry.
Any suggestions?

Go to the System/Sharing preference pand and make sure this checkbox is checked. If it is checked, uncheck it and then recheck. Reboot and try ordering again.

Internet Explorer 11 bookmarks not syncing with Ipad/Iphone

Hello. I have an Iphone 5 along with an Ipad Mini. Both are updated to the current IOS 7.1.1. I am using Internet Explorer 11 on my Toshiba Laptop for syncing booksmarks and such through Icloud to my devices.
I am having an issue with the bookmarks on my Toshiba laptop syncing with my Ipad and Iphone. Both my Ipad and Iphone book marks sync together in perfect unison, but my Internet Explorer bookmarks do not sync.
What I have tried:
Shut down/Restart all devices
Turn off safari in Icloud for Ipad/Iphone
Restarted internet application on all devices
Unchecked, then rechecked the box for syncing bookmarks in Icloud
Deleted synced bookmarks on Ipad/Iphone, then re-added them through Icloud
Once I delete the synced bookmarks, the bookmark tab on the Iphone/Ipad are empty, but once I sync them back up, the old bookmarks come through.
My main goal:
I want my Toshiba laptop bookmarks to be the exact same as my Iphone/Ipad bookmarks. I want my Ipad to be the center of attention essentially, followed by the Toshiba laptop and the Iphone, meaning I want the Ipad to be the base for all the bookmarks, then the Iphone and Toshiba laptop can follow suit and take the bookmarks from the Ipad and transfer them to the laptop and Iphone. Currently, I have many of the same bookmarks on both the Toshiba Laptop along with my Iphone/Ipad, but the more recent add`s/deleted on either Iphone/Ipad or Toshiba laptop are not syncing.
Any help is appreciated.

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

How do I stop iTunes syncing apps to iPhone?

I only ever use iTunes to sync audiobooks to my iPhone. I don't (or very rarely, usually at new device time) use it for backups or transferring music. All I want iTunes to sync to my device are the audiobooks I select. Why then does it insist on rearranging all my apps to a predefined layout from inside iTunes and putting BACK apps I deleted months ago?
I know this question has been asked before, but not for a while. Apparently I can go down my list of apps and select "Remove" or "Will Remove" etc but there used to be a check box for "sync apps". Why did Apple feel it was a good idea to remove this? I am sick to death of adding a new book to my phone then having to go and delete unwanted apps from the device - again - and rearrange the order back to how I want it. I should not have to do all this in iTunes before syncing. One button "do no sync apps" is all I want.
Am I missing something obvious or does Apple really believe that iTunes should override my preferred layout with one that it feels is right?

What happens if instead of using the sync button you just manually drag and drop your audiobooks onto your iPhone>Books in the Devices list.
Obviously you would have to have the Sidebar open to do this.

Why Won't the iPhone Synch So Many Things?

Hello everyone!
Here's the deal:
I have a MBP 17" dual core. Running OS 10.5.1. iTunes v7.5, iCal v3.01, Mail v3.1, and 8GB iPhone v1.1.2.
I can't synch many things to the iPhone.
1. New iCal events and To-Do's
2. Mail. I get a message telling me: "iTunes could not synch mail accounts to the iPhone "dr.john1985's iPhone" because an error occurred remapping record identifiers."
3. Contacts are iffy, but they synch 80% of the time. So that's good. I'd like it to be 100%
4. The troubles started last November, it seems.
It will synch:
1. Photographs.
2 Videos in iPhone/iPod format
However synching newly made appointments on the iPhone back to the computer won't work. Contacts won't work either.
As I've said, neither my POP Verizon or my IMAP .Mac accounts can be synched.
Bookmarks for Safari will transfer over just fine, so no problem there.
I love the iPhone, but things are going a bit foobar on it. Does anybody know what the problem is and what, if anything, can be done?

I think I found that entering the email settings manually and then unchecking "synch mail settings" worked pretty well the last time I tried to monkey with it. I'll try again and see how it goes.
The iPhone book that "should have been in the box" isn't much help for workarounds, nor is the "For Dummies" book. I downloaded the .pdf instruction manual from the iPhone web site at apple.com and will see if this has any clues about the synching and email problems.
Thanks guys. Any further ideas would be appreciated. I really like this iPhone, problems or not. I think this is a winnner, otherwise I wouldn't spend so much time trying to get it to work right.

My desktop is a new high end PC that came preloaded with Windows 7 Professional and I have had nothing but problems. My earlier computer was XP and everything, including my Apple interface, in particular iTunes, worked without problems. When I was trying to back up my data from the old iPad to my desktop, the only thing it would do is synchronize, then got an error message to download the latest iTunes, which I did but it still did not work. I have a lot of music both purchased through iTunes and a lot of others which were CDs that were copied to the desktop. I also have a lot of books through Kindle and other books in iBooks and audio books from other sources, plus two iPods I want to sync. I need some advise on where I find the back up feature in iTunes so I can copy all the data on from my old iPad. Your help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

When I open an text-attachment sens by mail, I only get it in the modus 'only reading'. I can't find a tool to change that modus in so that I can work in it with my version Oracle Openofficie 3.3.

When I open attachments, send to me by two different emailprograms, I only get the 'only read'modus. So I am not able to work with the text.
I use the OpenOffice.org 3.3. from Oracle.
