IPhone bought in Australia - iPodTouch bought in America - will not sync

Both of them work.. but not together. I cannot sync them together on the same computer. I got the iPhone as a gift from Australia... and would like to sync the same music/apps/photos/etc. that I also have on my iPod Touch from America. My acct. is also in America.
Am I out of luck or what? Is there some way around this?
My iTunes account is in US, though at the moment I am living in Australia. iTunes will not see my iPhone AT ALL. I'd put it on my other computer with iTunes. But my significant other has their iPhone on it.. and I have my own separate taste in music/apps/photos/etc.

Hey, thanks for your info. I just wonder,if comming from the USA to Australia , would the AddressBook on my MacBook sinc to a Aussie iPhone with ease ?? Do you know that, or have you done this yourself ?
Many thanks for your info.
PS; To sinc your stuff, you need to have booth item on the same Country settings ,I think.
Let me know if it worked out . . . James
