IPhone calendar appointment attachment causes crash
Hi,
I have an iPhone 4S and recurring crash in Calendar. When I add a jpg attachment to an appointment I cannot open the attachment to view - the app crashes.
I've been able to repeat this on my wife's iPhone 4S and her iPad 3 (synced through iCloud), and I've been able to repeat with different attachments.
On my phone I can get the app to crash; sometimes I get a dialog "cannot download" or I get a blank dialog (see screenshot). I've also occasinally got a weird flickering status bar.
Hi,
The problem fits the requirements, but the solution did not fix the problem...
I can reliably repeat the crash on two iPhones and an iPad. Interestingly on iCloud.com the appointment attachment is not shown.
This is the jpg that is causing the crash (a local sports field). Can anyone else repeat the crash on their iOS device with this file?

Hi
Our user used to be able to change the categories in a shared outlook calendar appointment but is now getting the error:
The Operation failed the messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.
We have tried re-creating the mail profile but still get the same error.
If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great, thanks.Glad to hear that it works fine in new profile. It seems your old OST file or other file in profile is corrupted. After you create a new profile, Outlook would re-sync your mailbox to a totally new OST as the data file.

IPhone Calendar Appointment time syncing issue
I have noticed lately that appointments I enter into my iCal on my Desktop when synced with my iPhone are showing up an hour later. For example: If I made an appointment from 9AM to 10AM it will (when synced) show up on my iPhone 10AM to 11AM. I am not sure if it has to do with the latest iPhone update (1.1.3) or with Leopard. Has anyone had this issue? Any thoughts on how to resolve it? Thanks.
One thing to check out is on your iphone go to settings > general > date and time.
In date and time, make sure your time zone is set correctly.
If the time zone is set correctly, turn time zone support off.
Then make sure your date and time is set correctly.
Power off the iphone by holding down the power button on the top of the iphone until you see the slide to power off.
Now power the iphone back on.
Connect the iphone to the computer and sync.
Hope this helps. -

iPhone calendar appointments set to local calendar, and need
to switch to exchange calendar. Have to edit each appointment one at a time and
change to exchange calendar. Is there any method to edit all appoints in my
calendar at once and change the calendar setting? Not sure this will work but if you go into the Keyboard preferences, then click the Keyboad Shortcuts tab, and then the '+', you can add your own shortcuts for any application. I am not sure what happens if you try to override an existing shortcut since I haven't tried using this.
Edit/Update:
Probably against my better judgement I'll also throw this out there - there's an Unsanity haxie called Menumaster which might also allow you to do what you want. Against my better judgement because personally I stay clear of haxies. It's (all haxies) probably almost certain to break in Lion. They always do with each major release. -
Appointment cancelations and reschedules in Outlook 2010 not syncing to my iPhone calendar
I do not have any problems with new appointments in Outlook synchronizing to the iPhone calendar, or vice versa. Also, if I make changes to or cancel an appointment on my iPhone, it will synchronize correctly to Outlook.
HOWEVER, if I modify or cancel and appointment from Outlook, the changes do not ever synchronize to my iPhone calendar. If I want the changes to be made on the iPhone as well, i have to go to that calendar separately and make the changes or delete the appointment.
This has been the case since day one with my iPhone 3GS and now my iPhone 4....
Has anyone else had this problem? Found a solution?
Thanks so much!Good suggestion. I did that and it seems to have worked! It synced through the manual sync, of course, but I have also now made a couple of test entries and they do go through both ways - ALTHOUGH it takes much longer (a few minutes) to show on my phone when the entry is originated in my computer, whereas when the entry is done in my phone it takes literally two seconds to show up on my computer. I'll take it, though, as long as it continues to work.
thank you! -
Why Can't I Delete or Edit a Calendar Appointment on My iPhone?
Why are my only choices "Accept" "Maybe" "Decline" for all calendar appointments pushed in from my Outlook calendar? I only have the choice to "Edit" calendar appointments when I create the calendar appointment on my iPhone itself. For all pushed in calendar appoinments, I can only "Decline" the appointment and then recreate it on my iPhone to be able to change it. This is annoying because I don't want to have to go through my calendar and "Accept" or "Decline" all my appointments, especially since this emails me that I have accepted or declined!
Wienderful,
Make sure your email address on the iPhone and the Exchange server are the same. This article explains more:

Hi,
Two recent updates for my iPhone have caused crashes (down the white lead) via iTunes.
I have "fixed" but I don't know the cause?
Each time the update does n't complete.
The download does n't happen.
The computer & internet connection are good.
It is as if the Apple server does n't complete?
The phone stays in recovery mode, until you reset and rebuild in iTunes.
All software is up to date, but I can't find the cause
ANY IDEAS?
Regards,
P.
<Email Edited by Host>No error messages.
It just fails to complete the download, so recovery mode is the next step.
This can be over a period of eight hours or more!
I have so many (original) Apple USB leads that I would n't know if I have been using the same one (if it was faulty).
Does this sound like a "common" problem? -
Why won't emailed appointment updates change in my iPhone calendar??
Outlook calendar updates that are emailed to me from the appointment creator are not updating in my iPhone calendar. They are staying at the original date and time and I'm even unable to modify any appointments that I'm invited to. We use Outlook Web Access.
Thanks for your help!!What changed from a week ago?
I have the same problem, alerts not coming across on shared calenders when the events sync properly. My wife & I have iPhones with latest IOS 5.x.x. I privately shared my iCloud calendar. She's subcribed to it and it syncs perfectly. Whenever I create a new event, it shows up on her phone within seconds. Same thing when she creates an event on the shared calendar.
Problem is, the alerts don't make it across. I typically set alerts of 30 minutes and 2-days before the event. My phone's default alert of 1-day before also goes off for 3 alerts per event. However, on her phone, no alerts goes off. Editing the event on her phone shows both alerts as none. Even her default phone alert setting of 1-day before doesn't go off either.
Anyone know how to make alerts sync across along with the shared calendar events?
Thanks. -
Someone sent me a recurring calendar appointment to my IPhone 4. I accepted it but now I would like to delete it since I am no longer attending. The planner was sent from Outlook. I cannot hit "edit" and "delete" on the IPhone. How can I delete this?

Since upgrading to ios7 I can no longer accept email appointments from outlook, open them and then add the appointment into my iphone calendar!
Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.

IPhone 5 looping boot logo crash - Crash report attached - Please help!
My iPhone 5 is stuck on the apple boot logo and loop reboots. It does not even load to the lock screen. I have attached the crash report below. Hopefully a genius can help me fix this. I've also tried restoring and it still keeps crashing on boot logo. Thanks in advance.

</plist>My iPhone 5 is stuck on the apple boot logo and loop reboots. It does not even load to the lock screen. I have attached the crash report below. Hopefully a genius can help me fix this. I've also tried restoring and it still keeps crashing on boot logo. Thanks in advance.

Odd iPhone Calendar Behavior With CSV Calendar Dates After 3.1
In April I downloaded the Chicago Cubs schedule as a CSV file and imported it into Outlook. The dates synced to my (and my wife's) 3G phones via MobileMe and we were good to go. Yesterday I did the same with the Chicago Bears schedule, and just noticed that BOTH the Bears games AND the Cubs games are showing five hour late on our iPhone calendars (i.e., today's 3:15 CDT Bears game shows an 8:15 p.m. CDT start time on our phones). This appears to have happened after upgrading to 3.1. The times are correct in Outlook, and they are also correct on the calendar at mobileme.com.
FWIW, I factory reset my phone this week and started over (did not restore the backup) in a failed attempt to correct the numerous 3.1 issues. I also verified that both phones have the correct timezone settings in BOTH locations in settings, and also confirmed the time zone settings in my PC and at mobileme.com. I also tried setting a normal (not imported from a CSV file) appointment in Outlook to test this problem, and both phones report the correct start time.I'm seeing the same instability with the calendar app. I first noticed all my mobile me calendars were gone so I backed up my iCal on my desktop and then synced the desktop with mobile me which took a few tries. This restored my iPhone calendar but it's been buggy ever since. I'm going to try a restore and if that doesn't help I'll go back to syncing through iTunes. I've also noticed some lag and crashes with other apps (apple & third party) since the 3.1 upgrade.

Calendar appointment reverting when reminder is dismissed.
Exchange Server 2010 v14.01.0438
iPhone5S 16GB
iOS 8.1.3 (12B466)
One user in particular has witnessed (randomly) calendar appointments on her iPhone revert to a previously scheduled time/date when a reminder alert is dismissed on her iPhone. The result is the appointment is changed on her Exchange calendar to the previously scheduled time, but it does not affect any other invitees' calendars. She IS the organizer, so the appointment is not changing/sending an update to invitees, it's just reverting on her calendar only...
Troubleshooting steps:
I have removed and recreated the mail profile on her iPhone and installed available patches on the Exchange server. If you go into Settings>Notifications>Calendar, you can set that notification alert style to Alert, which I believe causes you to have to dismiss the alert before you can do anything else on the device. It will take me a couple of minutes to test this, since it will require me to make some changes to my device, but you might want to look at that. When you receive a notification for a calendar alert, I know you can swipe that alert and I see that individual calendar appointment displayed on the screen. I'm not aware of another method to display your daily calendar on the home screen when getting notifications.
EDIT: I was correct. If you just unlock the phone, this dismisses the notification and will bring you to the home screen, no other information about the appointment. However, if you do not just unlock the phone and swipe the calendar notification on the screen it will bring you to that particular calendar notice. It will not, however show you other future appointments. That would require you to enter the calendar application. -
A one day entry on iPhone calendar shows as two days on iPad?!
I know you're thinking this is probably something to do with timezones differences between the iPhone and the iPad?
Each year I put the F1 grand prix races in my calendar as a one-day event on the Sunday they take place. On Sunday 27th March 2011 is the Australian grand prix.
On my iPhone (I'm in the UK and running the latest version on an iPhone 4 etc.) it shows as a one-day event but on my iPad it stradles two-days! When I go to click EDIT on the iPhone entry, despite showing as a Sunday entry only, it shows that it starts on Sunday 27th March and finished on Monday 28th March!
I spent a couple of hours looking at this. No other grand prix date has this discrepancy between the iPad and the iPhone calendars (that are sync'd with MobileMe calendar). It's just this one date.
I even had a friend add an event on the same date and it also suggested it was a one day event but when you edit it then it shows it's a two day event.
And then the only explanation dawned on me. It wasn't time zone setting differences as that would affect all the entries like that the whole year.
27th March is the date the clocks go forward in the UK for British Summer Time!
Is it a bug though? Why does the iPhone show it as one day but the iPad show it as two?
What is it with Apple and calendars and alarms?! And don't start me on the MobileMe calendar and Outlook integration. It's rubbish.Hi Boneart - I feel for you.
I too have the same issue (Feb 2014) which I have just discovered today as I am not a strong user of all-day events, until today when I tried to schedule annual holidays in my diary. I can confirm the EXACT SAME issues that you have described with all-day events displacing 24 hrs EARLY for sync Outlook to iOS calendar, and all-day events displaced 24hrs LATE for sync iOS calendar to Outlook. I also confirm that the issue does not exist for specified time appointments, as you also found.
I note from several other discussion threads that Apple have previously focussed on an issue of all-day events syncing to span 2-days; that is not yet apparent in my situation BUT I will be watching with interest whether a subsequent synchronisation causes the displaced dates to also synchronise back providing the same event apparently spanning 2 days but ACTUALLY existing as two events with identical properties on successive days.
One oddity is that I also operate in the NZ time zone; I wonder if that is significant???
For a brief period I trialled iCloud with a thrid-party patch to resolve the native iCloud issue of not providing 2-way synch with Outlook. That worked beautifully ... until Apple provided an update to the iCloud interface which destroyed all functionality for me. I'm back to hard-wire sync via USB wire again. Very frustrating!!
Finally it is sad that Apple has no interest in these issues. It strikes me that as soon as there is a non-Apple platform involved they blame the other system and wash their hands of it.
