Iphone calendar colors

I use my iPhone to handle my calendars for work, and therefore sync to multiple calendars. However, I can't get the colors to change. I've seen other people's make-shift solutions, but none of them have worked for me. Worse still, recently my calendar has some how changed, and now several of my main calendars all show up as brown, making it not only ugly, but very confusing. Is there any real method to change the calendar colors??? please help!

To get the colors you need to set up different calendars. Set up a separate calendar for the 5 disserent colors that are available. Took a little getting used to and if you are using Outlook it is a bit strange looking, but if you are using iCal or Mobile Me it will sync pretty much with the same colors if you set it up right. You can change the colors in iCal or Mobile Me, but on the iPhone it will come out in a set order for the colors.

  • IPhone Calendar colors keep changing

When I first began using my IPhone 3G, the calendar entries all synced as blue. Fine. About a week ago, they all synced as red. Strange that the color changed, but also fine. Yesterday, they synced as yellow. Not fine. I have a very hard time reading entries because the white lettering barely shows within the entries. Is there a way to go back to one of the other colors or at least to a more legible color? Thanks.

dwbsf. If you go into your "mail, contacts, calendars" settings, then into your Exchange account you can turn the Calendar syncing on or off. If you turn it off, then back on, your calendar colors should return to the basic default color sequence, which hopefully will be colors that are more appealing (Red, Orange, Blue, etc.

  • Iphone Calendar colors differ

Colors on my Calendars are Blue and Green on both my Macbookpro and MobileMe.
When synced to the iphone the colors show as Red and Orange on the iphone.
    Any suggestions?

I found a post online that tells you how to "choose" your colors, and have linked to it in my entry below. Hope this helps!

  • IPhone calendar colors not there

I updated my iPhone to 2.0 and had colors on the day view in calendar. Had syncing problems and once resolved, I have no colors at all, only gray scale. Any suggestions or am I just missing a setting somewhere?

  • IPhone calendar color scheme useless after update

This past Thursday, I updated my iPhone with the update software. Since then, the primary colors of the calendar events have all been changed to muted colors. Unfortunately, the default color of my primary Outlook calendar events has been changed to light turquoise with white letters, rendering the letters unreadable.
Based on feedback received from the Apple Store, I did a hard reset, and then a full Restore, to no avail.
Has anyone seen this and do you know of a fix? Thanks, marc

This worked to fix color problems on calendar items synced over air via exchange. You might want to try this:
    To fix funky calendar items:
    Do not connect to computer.
Settings> mail contacts calendars > Click on the account you are having trouble with
    Turn OFF Calendar sync
    Wait ~30 seconds
    Turn On Calendar sync
As calendar items push to the iPhone, you’ll see these items being restored and unique calendars assigned. This can take about ~30 + minutes or so. Also, it takes awhile to push, you may have to wait 15 minutes for push to initiate, depending on phone settings and time since last push. But… this fixes the problem.
Hope this helps. It worked for me without restoring iPhone to original settings.

  • Changing calendar color in Enterprise

My iPhone calendar colors are difficult to read. iTunes tells me the calendar options must be changed on the device because I'm syncing via Enterprise. How can I change these colors?

Found a solution to my own question that has worked...for now.
    Solution:
    1) Disconnect your iPhone from your computer.
2)On phone go to Settilngs> mail contacts calendars> click on the account you are having problems with.
    3) Turn Calendar sync to OFF and wait about 30 seconds
    4) Turn Calendar sync to ON
As calendar items push to the iPhone, you’ll see these items being restored and unique calendars assigned. This can take about ~30+ minutes or so. Also, it takes awhile to push, you may have to wait 15 minutes for push to initiate, depending on phone settings and time since last push. But… this fixes the problem.

  • How to get custom iCal colors to carry over to iPad or iPhone calendars

How do I get custom calendar colors designated on my iMac to carry over to my iPad or iPhone?  It used to do so, and now it no longer does.

Thanks Joe.  We have discovered from this forum, actually, that if you send the photos from the iPhone, if that's where they were taken, then you are asked what size.
"If you send from the camera, then you get the option of reducing the size. If you send from your other photos synced from your computer, they don't have that option of reducing."
I tested it by sending a couple of photos taken by my iPhone, and sure enough, was asked as to size.  Then sent the same two photos from my iPad (Photostream) and was not asked.  Interestingly though, the sizes were identical in both emails.

  • Color changed on iphone calendar

I have an iphone 4 and have the unfortunate luck of having a PC (long story but my next purchase WILL be a macbook pro).  I want to separate my iphone calendar appointments by color which I can do in outlook.  On outlook I have selected different appointments by color which appears accurately on my PC.  When icloud syncs the changes the colors stay the same on my iphone.  Now in the past microsoft has been the fault of my problem vs. apple but my iphone doesn't seem to be following the color commands of my PC.
    Any suggestions?

To my knowledge, the only color the phone displays in calendar is a different color for different calendars, not the color categories you can use for individual appointments in Outlook. I also use color coding for my appointments in Outlook, but that has never carried over to the phone.

  • ICal Calendar Colors Changing On Their Own; iCloud Connection

    AGGRAVATING PROBLEM:
Many in this forum have written recently about a problem ongoing for people with multiple iCal calendars where iCal calendar colors change "automatically" when you haven't selected those colors, or even "change back" before your eyes to some color your DIDN'T select after you select a new one.  If you log into iCloud on the Web and try to change the color of certain calendars, they refuse to change.  Try as you might, the color you want for your calendar won't "stick" and it is forced to be the wrong color on all your devices.  In some cases, even the names of some of the calendars cannot be changed.  On other calendars in your list, the colors and names will change fine.
Related symptoms:  Calendars you have deleted "come back."   Or, calendars you did not create yourself show up in your calendars list, such as "Calendar" or "Home" or even "Untitled."  Note that the problem seems to be most prevalent with calendars with names "Home," "Work," OR either of these words in the NAME of the calendar.  For instance, "Bob's Work" might get snagged (it can't be deleted without coming back or its color is stuck and "comes back").
I spent a long time on the phone with a helpful Apple senior advanced specialist on this problem today.  We conducted a very large number of "experiments". Our family has two iPads, 2 iPhones, and 2 iMacs, so it was easy to rule things in or out.  I will present some information that may help.
SOME OF WHAT APPEARS TO BE GOING ON:
First, Apple has not resolved this.  But the problem appears to be related to iCloud, and NOT to individual devices.  After de-linking all of my individual devices from iCloud, I could change any of the colors or names at will on any given device, create new calendars and then change their colors to whatever I wish, delete calendars, change names...no problem.  However, after re-linking calendars to iCloud, all the problems mentioned above returned.  The chances that my iMacs, iPhones, and iPads are all causing the problem independently is very low. They also have slightly different OS versions on them, so it is not likely an a particular device OS, though that could be indirectly related.  Also, the colors "change back" within about the same time (usually a few seconds to up to 30 seconds) that it takes to do a "refresh" (i.e. an update) to the iCloud servers.  This when iCloud is turned on, and the absence of it when iCloud is turned off (for calendars), strongly suggests that it is the iCloud server and its interaction with your devices that the fundamental cause of the problem.
Apple has said that they are aware of this problem and their engineers are working on a fix.  Historically, this can mean just a few days, or it could be a few months, years, or "whenever."  They don't give estimates of when it will be fixed.  Exactly WHY this is happening is unclear, but my guess is that it is a modification to the iCloud server code that Apple implemented without testing it thoroughly enough to discover this problem.  Apple does not admit to that, of course and I don't know if I am correct.
A WORKAROUND SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME:
Please note this is a workaround and not a full fix.  Apple needs to run a patch on their iCloud server code.  Until then, I did the following which seems to have worked for me for now.  Read the whole list before deciding whether to proceed.  I don't guarantee it will work in all situations.
Note...I found I was stuck for now with the color of ONE of my calendars.  If you are like me, you want to keep that one and work around it....
Backup first... Make sure that your iCloud copy of your calendar data has the calendar event information you want to save - even if the color is wrong.  Log in at www.icloud.com and do a refresh to sync to the Cloud.  Check over your calendars online to make sure the event data appears to be there for all of your calendars (even if their color or name is not what you want).
    Steps:
    1.     Go to every device that you have linked to iCloud separately. Go into Settings, iCloud, and then uncheck the "Calendars" option.  This delinks your calendars for that device to iCloud.  As you do this on each device, when prompted, select "Keep On My" ..iPAD...iPhone...iMac... etc.  This will preserve the calendar information on the device so it won't be deleted.  I think this is safer, but you can click on "Delete" if you want, too.  Note - if one of your devices is an iMac, with OSX Lion and before, you may be forced (I was) to delete the iCloud calendars from the iMac.  So again, make sure they are backed up to the Cloud first (or somewhere else).
    3.     With the iCloud Calendars Option on all your devices still turned off, go to the WEB and log into iCloud.com.  You need to figure our which calendar iCloud won't let you change the color for.  You probably already know.  On iCloud.com, click on "Calendars," then click open your calendar list and select "EDIT" at the bottom of the dialog box.  One at a time, click on the color dots next to each calendar name and try to change the color (you can put any back after the test if you want). You will probably see a certain one that just goes right back to what you don't want.  This is the one for which the color is stuck, but you may be able to change the name of it now that your devices are unlinked from iCloud.
    4.     Still in iCloud.com, change the names and colors of any of the other calendars you wish to change.  Delete any empty calendars that mysteriously appeared without your wanting them.  Take note of all the calendars, names, and colors that are on the final list of calendars.
    5.     On EVERY device, BEFORE turning iCloud back on on ANY of them: Change the colors and/or names of calendars, delete calendars, etc. so that the calendar names and colors on the device are exactly the same as what you left in iCloud.com in the last step.
    6.   One at a time on each device, go back to Settings and then "iCloud" and check again the box for "Calendars."  You will be asked whether you want to "MERGE" your data with iCloud.  I selected MERGE to ensure I didn't lose anything.  Link each device again into iCloud one at a time.
    7.  When each device is back, go back to iCloud on the Web, or go into iCAL on one of your devices.  Set to view ALL calendars.  Look for duplicates of some of your events.  I found quite several as an artifact of "merging", but in my case it only took me about 5 minutes to go through quickly and delete the duplicates.  It deleted the duplicates on all of the devices at once, so I only needed to delete dups on one device.  I did not find that I lost any events as long as I kept one valid copy.
Again, no guarantees...hope this works for others.  Good luck.

I'm getting the same thing and it's really bugging me! Keeps changing colour to one I do not want and I have tried everything to get it to stay the colour I have chosen!!

  • Calendar colors not the same...

In iCal, I have four different calendars each with their own color: blue, green, red, and orange. The calendar colors on the iPhone are all scrambled. How do I fix this? What am I missing? Thanks!

After playing around for some time and reading many blogs and posts with suggestions, I tried MobileMe as well.
It did not solve the color problem for me and on top of that if gave me a new problem with not syncing ical subscriptions.
The problems are so massive and wide spread that Apple has to fix them, and I'm pretty confident they will. We will probably see a round of updates and all of a sudden it will work like we all expect from a premium product like the iPhone and MobileMe.
The disappointing part is that Apple gave us a service which has a bunch of little problems and is basically not quite ready yet. And I bet that's exactly what it is, they simply ran out of time and had to push a product into the marked, before they were quite finished with it.
This is disappointing but not uncommon with everything computer. However, they should keep us informed so that we can stop guessing! "Sorry folks, we have a bunch of problems here. We will subsequently fix them over the next couple of weeks and we apologize for the inconvenience!" This is the least I would expect as a loyal customer.

  • Changing calendar colors

A client of mine uses a specific color code for his ical on his computer, but on his iphone, the colors are different. I see no way to change the colors on the iphone. How do I do this?
    Thanks,

Cashman, this is actually possible. I just did it after searching for an answer.
    how i did it:
    go to iphone "Settings"
    Mail contacts calendars
The exchange account he wants to change the color of.
Switch calendars to off wait till it says off then switch back on.
go and check if one of his calendars colors have changed to the color he likes.
I had to do it up to 4x on a couple just to get it to the right color, i have 4 accounts to keep track of so colors are important to me, It wont have to be changed again. Ahh.....relief!

  • Iphone calendar entry comes up with red dot?

I entered an entry on my iphone calendar that somehow had a red dot associated with it. As opposed to either blue or green, home or work, the standard calendars I have. Sync between my iphone entries and the mobilme 'cloud' has been working fine except for this one entry. It doesn't appear on the mobilme server's calendar nor any of my ical's on my computers. I don't know how this red color was assigned to it, because I didn't, at least not on purpose. Any thoughts?

How annoying. I just found this too. Right after I re-signed up with Apple's less than stellar MobileMe service b/c I can't find any other way to sync my contacts and calendar. What a waste of $99 per year for something so simple considering how much this phone can do.
Anyway, here;s what i have found:
When inputting a new appt in iPhone - with MobileMe in effect - I now see an option called Calendar (under "Repeat" and "Alert" in input screen). When I leave new appt in default iPhone calendar the date gets red dot and does NOT sync with MobileMe. So - and here's the annoying part - the only way I can make sure my newly input appts get synced to MobileMe and my Outlook on PC is if I take the additional 3 button clicks/steps to click "MobileMe" in Calendar section.
If I do that then the appt gets a blue dot and syncs properly across the board
I am very VERY disappointed and how unsimple (unApple) they have made syncing contacts and calendar with this phone. If anyone else finds diff, please tell me

  • IOS 4.1 - Calendar Colors Muted

After the update yesterday, I opened my IPhone calendar to find that the colors were muted with a 'faded' look. The bright colors that previously appeared on my phone/mobileme have changed dramatically.
The change is not subtle and is very unattractive.
Note: The colors for each calendar are correct- they have just faded drastically. All other colors on my phone remain crisp.
    Anyone else with this problem?

The colours now are horrible. You just get used to something being one way for 2 years, then they go and screw it up. It wouldn't be so bad if I could pick my own slightly less disgusting colours, but it just randomly assigns them. This one is getting a complaint back to Apple, form me. I hope the millions of other iPhone users do the same. After all, Steve said he loves his customers and wants to keep us happy.
Oh, and it took 4 tried to download the update. Thats 2GB of my data I'll never get back this month.

  • TS3999 ios7 iCloud Calendar changed calendar color and won't let me select a different color.

I updated my iphone 4s to ios7 without issue, then I got my iphone 5s and restored from my 4s' backup. Everything worked smoothly and great, except that one of my calendars had their color changed (from orange to purple).  Now I already have a purple calendar, which is why this is problem.  I have attempted to change my calendar color several time, and I get no error and it look like it works great but a few seconds later it changes itself back to purple.  Not the most critical bug, but very annoying.  I have attempted to change the color both on my phone and on icould.com, but neither work.

    Quit iCal.
Drag the folder ~/Library/Application Support/iCal to the desktop.
Delete the iCal preference files (again).
    Delete folder ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices.
    Restart iCal.
Verify that you can add and modify calendars.
If you can, open the Sources folder in iCal folder that you put on the desktop. There will be one folder in it for each of your former calendars. Open each in turn and drop the corestorage.ics file onto the iCal icon. This should import your former calendars.

  • Exchange and iPhone Calendars not separated

My iPhone 3GS is sync with the Exchange Calendar of my company. I can see the exchange and local iPhone calendar, but they are both labeled "Calendar" with color code next to each.
For some reason, my wife iPhone is on the same version and model as mine - 3.1.3 / MC132ZP, and she also sych with the same Exchange server, but her calendar list is sub-labeled into "Calendar" and My Exchange "Calendar". I prefer the way her Calendars are grouped and labeled as it is much clearer. This kinds of bother me. Even there is color code next to the Calendar list on my iPhone, but just wondering how I can get mine behave the same as my wife's phone.
    Thank you for your help.

Are you using iCloud? Go to Settings/Mail, Contacts.... and try turning off Contacts on one device and then turning it back on.
