IPhone calls from my Mac

I have an iPhone 5 running 8.1.2 and my Mac is running Yosemite. I also have an iPad Mini running 8.1.2.
I think all of my settings are correct across all three devices and phone calls to my iPhone are appropriately being forwarded to my iPad. When I attempt to originate a call from my Mac, I get the error "iPhone not available - your phone and Mac must be on the same Wifi network." They ARE on the same network.
Anyone else encounter this issue? Is there a setting I am missing?

Actually I have found one more input into this. My wifi network supports 802.11b+g+n and not 802.11ac.
Could this be the possible problem ?

Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
But basically make sure that iCloud is enabled with the same account in both your Mac and iPhone, turn off Wi-Fi calls if enabled in your iPhone and make sure that Facetime has the same accounts in your devices.

Can't place iPhone call from Mac (can receive calls though)

-MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) with Yosemite (10.10)
-iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1
Both use same iCloud account and same FaceTime account. Both have 'iPhone Cellular Calls' enabled under FaceTime settings.
I cannot place an outgoing call from my Mac. I've been getting an error 'iPhone Calls Not Available. Your iPhone must use the same iCloud and FaceTime account' but it does indeed..
I tried to reboot both devices, signed out/in iCloud, played with the toggle-switches - still nothing. Though when I am receiving an incoming call on iPhone - I can take it on Mac.
The only idea I have - my cellular provider is not supported by Apple FaceTime server so I've been using only AppleID to place FaceTime calls (no phone number used) and it's been working fine up to now. But if you go into FaceTime settings of my iPhone you see 'Activation unsuccessful.'
Can anyone confirm if you can place calls from Mac with having FaceTime activated only by AppleID (no cellular phone number) on your iPhone?

I was able to get it worked after enabling iMessage/FaceTime with my phone number. This issue made me to find out a way to do that -)

Are you saying that your house has both a home wifi network and your office's wifi network?
Or are you using the Mac and Phone at both work and home?
This is the Mac Pro desktop forum so are you lugging the Mac Pro desktop to work?

I downloaded iOS 8.1 and have yosemite OS installed in my mac. i have tried to use the calls and sms feature but none of this works.
In the calls when i try to call someone a message pops up saying that i must have an iphone and a mac with the same iCloud and FaceTime account. But the devices that i'm using do have the same accounts and still does't work!!
I have noticed that my phone number does't appear with a check and that in the FaceTime of my iphone a message down the switch to activates says "waiting for activation", but i can still make normal FaceTime calls. does this have something to do? how do i fix it? i have tried to reset the settings but everything is still the same.
In the sms feature the same message "waiting for activation" is down the iMessage title, i can send iMessages but when i try to activate sms a message says "enter the code displayed on the other device" but the code in my mac never shows up. What's the problem here? i have also tried to reset the settings and rebooting the devices but it's the same. You have to add another email address on one of the two devices that you can use as the "You can be reached for FaceTime at" contact address and then remove/uncheck the Apple ID email address as the contact address on that device. The way you are currently setup is like to trying to call yourself on your on phone - from your own phone.
Using the iPad as the example go to Settings>FaceTime>You can be reached for FaceTime at>Add another email address. Then add a working email address in the next window. Apple will verify the email. Go to the inbox of that email account, read and respond to Apple's email in order to complete the verification process.
Go back to Settings>FaceTime>Uncheck the Apple ID email address and make sure that the new email address is checked/selected (you will see it being verified again) and that new email address will be your contact address for the iPad.

The message is referring to iTunes on your computer, not the iPad : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
The built-in apps on the iPad can only be updated via iOS updates, so if your iPad mini is on iOS 6.0.2 then its up-to-date

How would I move the iphone backup from a mac to a pc and do a full restore so I don't lose my settings?

I am moving from a mac to pc (i know, not many people do this, but it's for work) and I would like to transfer my itunes library with all of the iphone backups, playlist, playcounts, etc. over. Can I restore my iphone backups from the mac on the pc? How would I do that? How would I make sure all of my metedata for itunes is transferred properly as well?

Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

Why can't I email videos taken with my iphone 4 from my Mac? It says the video is to big or long but the particular one I am trying to send is only 1 min 16 sec long. I don't remember having this problem with my 3gs. I am trying to email them with my yahoo act, and I see this very same question was asked July of 2010, but their are no replies. It may be a very simple fix, but I can't seem to figure it out. Surly, I don't have to reduce my videos to 30 sec or less to get them to send. Can anyone please help a gal out?

Why do I get the message "iPhone Not Available" when trying to make calls from my Mac even when both devices are clearly on the same Wi-Fi network?

I am using a mid-2010 Mac Book and the iPhone 6. I can't imagine that it is due to the age of my Mac because if it was disqualified, then we would not get the option to use it to take calls.

I get the same message and stating that both the iPhone and Mac must be on the same network, which they are. I was able to call from my iPad through the iPhone on the same network I'm using for the iMac and iPhone. I've tried several settings configurations on the iPhone but to no avail.
