IPhone camera photo is small

My wife and I both have iPhones, my iPhone camera takes pictures at 1200 pixels by 1600 pixels. Tonight I'm going through the photos and realize that all the iPhone photo from my wife's iPhone are only 600 by 800. Both phones have the same fireware (02.30.03) both are the same model bought from the same store at the same time. I can't find where the setting is so I change the second phone to 1200 x 1600.
Thanks

I have seen something similar to this in that when i extract photo's directly from my phone they are 1200*1600 but if i email them or extract them in other ways they end up as 800*600. Don't know if this info helps at all?
I would make sure you are extracting/importing the photo's the same way first, since as far as i am aware there is no way to adjust the resolution of the iPhone camera it just simply takes the shots at 2MP.

  • How do I automatically sync iPhone camera photos using iTunes?

Hey, gang!  I'm confused about the "Sync Photos from iPhoto" option in iTunes.  I clearly do not want to transfer *all* photos (years of accumulated digicam pictures), yet when I choose "Selected albums", iTunes gives me the following warning:
"This iPhone contains photos synced with another photo library or folder. Photos and albums on “Name of iPhone” will be replaced with photos and albums from this computer. Photos taken with “Name of iPhone” will not be affected.
Well, this is bizarre--what other library or folder could my phone have been synched with?  Plus, no matter what I was using, I certainly don't want to lose those photos on the iPhone!
Of course, what I really want to know is:
"How do I use iTunes to automatically transfer the photos I've taken with the iPhone to my MacBook Pro?"
P.S.  I know how to transfer photos using iPhoto, but that's laborious and I really want to transfer/back up my photos as part of my iTunes ritual.

Plus, it clearly indicates that there are photos on my iPhone that could well be deleted as a result of synching!
The only photos on your iPhone that could be deleted when syncing with iTunes are photos that were transferred from your computer to your iPhone, which is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. These photos should remain on your computer so will not be lost.
Do I really have to go through 800+ photos in my Camera Roll and laboriously determine if they have matches in my iPhoto library?
Photos in the Camera Roll are not included or touched during the iTunes sync process.
Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process are stored in the Photo Library.
The other odd thing is that there is a third album on my iPhone.  It contains the very same photos as in Photo Library, but is called something else and the photos are in a different order.  I am unable to delete it the way one can with a regular photo album that one has added.  What's up with that?
When transferring a photo album or folder or multiple abums/folders from your computer, all photos transferred from your computer are stored in the iPhone's Photo Library. The photos in the album or albums below that were transferred from your computer include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. This way you can view the photos in an album only be selecting the album, or all photos in all albums transferred from your computer by selecting Photo Library. The same occurs when transferring only one album or folder or multiple albums or folders from your computer.
Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process can't be deleted direct from your iPhone. Photos transferred from your computer are deleted from the iPhone the same way - via the iTunes sync process.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera, which is not handled by iTunes. When there are photos/videos in the Camera Roll, the iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to a computer.

  • Accessing iPhone Camera Photos from iPhone SDK3.0

We are sending pictures from iPhone to Webservice. SDK we use id 3.0. The pictures data are captured from camera roll and photo library. The issue is when the photo is taken in Portrait mode by iPhone it is rotated and stored in serve. Is it possible way to resolve this automatically rotation when send through HTTP?

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Try posting in the iPhone Developer Forums here.
    http://developer.apple.com/devforums/
If you haven't done so you will have to create a username and password.
Also, try rotating the images in iPhoto and make sure and click: Done so iPhoto saves that rotated edit, then upload....

  • Iphone camera/photos

How do I delete a photo from the camera roll and/or the photo albums, no trash can appears on the screen? (orig iphone with latest 2.01 update)

    Hi njmac,
To delete a photo from the camera roll go to photos > camera roll > tap the picture you want to delete. When the photo comes, tap the trash can in the bottom right. If you do not have a bar across the bottom, tap on the photo again.
However, you cannot delete photos from the photo library.
These are photos that you have sync'd from the computer, so this is controlled through itunes.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone camera photo's

hello, Is it possible to save a photo that's been mail to you in your camera roll?

no that requires disk mode: a thing that allows users to download files directly onto the device, meaning like downloading a picture from the email, or downloading instructions from a website, or anything like that...Apple hasn't come out with it yet.

  • Can I change IPhone Camera 3GS pixel settings from 2048x1536 to a smaller 640x480 pixel setting? So that all of my photos will be taken at the new and desired lower pixel ratio?

Hi. My Apple IPhone 3GS Camera takes pictures at 2048x1536 pixels = TOO LARGE..
Every IPhone picture that I transfer to my computer must be resized on my computer.
My desired sizes approx after it is 700x525 or approximate near that.
Most of my EBay or Forums require the smaller pixel or MB sized photos.
Can I change the resolution my IPhone 3GS shoots at?
So that all photos can be shot at 640x480 or approximate near that?
Is resetting the IPhone 3GS camera to a smaller pixel size than 2048x1536?
If not, is there a permantent setting inside my IPhone 3GS that I can set the
export pixel output TO ALL EXPORTS to my computers?
I want to have it set as a command and not have to change pictures individually.
*** Maybe you know of options or possibilities I do not know about?
    Please help. Thank you

I'm reading this post in the iPhoto for iOS forum. Since your issue seems specific to an iPhone perhaps if you posted your question in an iPhone forum you'll get some assistance.

  • Why is my iPhone Camera Roll using 10.0 GB but my Photo Library only using 6.3 GB?

When I look at usage in my iPhone, Camera Roll is using 10.0 GB, but Photo Library is only using 6.3 GB. I do not have Photo Stream enabled. Why the difference?

In my case, Camera Roll is just the pictures taken on my phone and the remainder of the photos on my phone were synced from my computer via iTunes and are under "Photo Library". If you go to Photos and then tap Albums at the bottom right, it will show which pictures are in the Camera Roll. My Camera Roll usage is much smaller than Photo Library as I only have 2 pictures there since I regularly import them to my computer where I have more control and extra backup capability. I then sync back some that I want to also have on the phone.

  • How to get iPhone 4 to take smaller file sized photos

All my photos taken with the iPhone camera app take 2 to 3MB size photos. How do I adjust phone to smaller jpeg sizes under 1 MB?
    Thank you

You should be importing all pics/vids taken with iphone to your computer regularly as you would from any digital camera.  From there you can do what you like with them.

  • ICloud Storage is almost full -- how do I clear my iPhone Camera Roll back-up without losing my photos?

Hi.  My iCloud storage is almost full and my iPhone Camera Roll seems to be the main culprit.  So...
    1.  I think that they way to free up my iCloud storage is to go into iCloud management and delete the back-up of the iPhone Camera Roll.  Right?
    2.  If yes, does deleting my iPhone Camera Roll from iCloud back-up delete the photos from my phone entirely?
    3.  Also, if I have already saved my iPhone photos to my iPhoto Library on my computer (via hard line sync), should I be worried about deleting the iCloud back-up of the iPhone Camera Roll?  (In other words, will deleting the back-up on my phone somehow tell my iPhoto to delete the copies of the photo as well?)
Any tips would be appreciated.  Thanks!!

Here's a tip: Part of what I do is photography, so I normally treat my iPhone as another camera. So, what I do is after I have finished taking some shots/videos with it, I download them to my computer (in my case, via Aperture). For everyone else, on the Mac there is the free Image Capture app, or the iPhoto app (which, if you have the latest version of Lion, it isn't built in there, so you would have to download it from the App Store for a fee).
I have made it a habit to use this method whenever I finish taking pictures at the end of a day (but that's just me). Also, keep in mind that the videos that you take on your iPhone can take up a lot of space very quickly (for instance, one minute of 720p HD video recorded on the iPhone takes up over 300 MB of space!), so you would need to keep that in mind when shooting videos. SO, to answer your questions above:
    1) Right.
    2) No, because it is only a backup, not the Camera Roll itself.
    3) You should not be worried about deleting the iCloud backup of the iPhone Camera Roll. What would happen (in terms of the method) is that you first would download them to iPhoto first, then delete the images from your Camera Roll. This then would free up your iCloud storage space. Lastly, placing them in your iPhoto app will not tell your backup on your phone to delete them. When you delete the images from your camera roll, your "backup" will be smaller in size than it was beforehand.... Hopefully that made sense.

  • How can I get the many photos from my iPhone Camera Roll onto my iPad (no OS 7 on either) - thanks!

How can I get all of the photos from my iPhone Camera Roll onto my iPad3?  Both are running OS 5x and 6x.  Thank you -

    Hey David152,
Thanks for the question. First, you’ll want to import the photos to your personal computer:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
After doing so, you can then sync the photos over to your iPad:
iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
Also, you can enable Photo Stream so that new photos taken with your iPhone will automatically appear on your iPad. For more information regarding Photo Stream, see this resource:

    Thanks,

  • How to delete iPhone camera roll's photos in new version Photos for Mac

    Hi,
Before upgrade to new version Photos for Mac. I was using iPhoto + Photo Stream to manage all the photos took from my iPhone.
Photo Stream will upload all new photos to iPhoto; when I connect iPhone to my mac, I can use iPhoto to delete my iPhone's camera roll's photos to clear the storage space.
After I upgraded to Photos; the Photo Stream still running well, all new photos also upload to Photos' library, however, when I connect iPhone to my mac.
Photos doesn't offer me any method to delete my iPhone camera roll's photos.
What I can find is "Import Selected" or "Import All" and "Delete items after import" these functions are doesn't help.
Because, all the photos are already imported by Photo Stream, when I click "Import All", all the imported photos will "RE-IMPORT" again and the photos will duplicate in my library.
This is also a BUGS in Photos because in old version iPhoto when I import a photo which has already imported before, the software will pop-up a Dialogue Box to ask me options to choose between "Skip" or "Overwrite" or "Duplicate".
Do anyone know how to delete the iPhone camera roll's photos by using new version Photos?
    Thank you very much.

  • Import photos off iPhone camer into iPhoto

For some reason, I cannot seem to get iPhoto to recognize my iPhone anymore. I just need to pull photos of iPhone camera into iPhoto so I can make a book. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have you tried image capture (in your applications folder)?
Check the iPhoto preference for action when a camera is connected
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
