Iphone can't join network

We have  2 iphones and an Ipod touch that all won't connect to our home wi fi network,
however all of our computers will.

Another easy way to isolate the cause of the issue is by trying to connect those devices to another wifi network.

  • IPhone can't join network (WPA-PSK)

I have a D-Link DI-524 router and it had always been set to WEP until I bought my Macbook Pro recently. Everything worked fine with WEP - my iphone, playstation 3, old laptop. But my macbook couldn't work with WEP, so I changed my router security setting to "WPA-PSK/WPA-PSK2"(shown as an option on the router setup page). Now my macbook and playstation 3 both work with the new setting, but not the iphone....it can detect the network but when I type in the correct password it says can't join the network. I've tried resetting the iphone network, rebooting it, still not working.
I never got to the bottom of why my macbook can't work with WEP, but as long as it works with WPA that's fine so that I can at least use the web. I'm alright with having to use 3G on my iphone too, but it'll be very inconvenient if I have to download certain apps that require a wifi connection.

  • Airport Express and iPhones can't see network-macs and ipad can?

I have an Airport Extreme base station connected to a comcast modem, with 2 express units for airtunes.
After some fiddling around due to the comcast outage, now I can't see either of the Airport Express units in the Airport Utility, AND neither my or my wife's iPhone can see the network. The iPad, iMac, Macbook and a PC can all connect no problem. My phone connects to wifi at work no problem.
    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Your settings should look like this:
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network
wireless Network Name = Name of your wireless network
Check mark not needed next to Allow this Network to be extended
    Radio Mode = Automatic
    Radio Channel = Automatic
    Wireless Security = WPA2 Personal
Wireless Password = Backspace and retype your password here
Confirm Password = Backspace and retype your password
    Click the Internet icon
    Connect Using = Ethernet
If you have a simple modem (only one ethernet port), the setting for Connection Sharing should be set to Share a public IP address
If you have a gateway (combination modem and router with 3-4 ethernet ports), the setting for Connection Sharing should be set to Off (Bridge Mode).
    Update to save changes
    Restart all other devices
    Any luck?

  • Is there a way that my iphon can accept another network?

Hello I want to know if there is a way that my iphone can accept another network?

Sure, use an existing unlocked iPhone or have it unlocked by your existing cellular provider.

  • Snow w Express x2 - can't join network

    Hello,
I have had a Snow Base Station, SNOW, ethernet to cable modem
and an, Airport Express Base Station, APE1, USB to HP Photosmart 7760
With 2 macs, one older AP wireless card, other with AP Extreme card
Works great for most part .... but that is another issue.
Got a 2nd Airport Express, APE2, aiming have it join the network, hook into stereo, play iTunes.
Ran Airport Setup Assistant, about a 1/2 dozen times now.
Get all the way through process of joining network, waiting for restart, Setup Assistant says it is setup, entry made in keychain for it, etc. etc.
But, on restart, after SA restarts it:
green light comes on for a second
then steady amber ... typical restart process
then it flashes yellow forever after.
Tried going back into SA to fix/reconfigure, neither sees it as new, nor recognizes it as being on network.
Tried fixing/configuring via Airport Admin Utility and it does not see it either.
Have a widget that detects networks, it does not see it either.
Snow & APE1 still work fine.
Tried resetting APE2, about 5 times.
After resetting then SA sees it as new, go through setup process, says it did so Ok, back to flashing amber light.
Had APAU open and in process of using SA to set it up as new, noticed it appears in APAU, so switched over to Admin Utility and set it up that way ... same thing, restarts, flashing amber.
In searching support saw that there was a firmware update, 6.0.3, applied that all around ... no difference.
    Help.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Got it.
    Gave it one more shot.
    Went into Airport Admin Utility.
I had set up Access Control List for Snow (APAU>select Snow from list> configure>Access Control tab)
Added the MAC airport address, on the label on APE2 to list and it successfully joined, after updating Snow.
But I think they need to make it harder to read.
White letters on light gray background.
Ds look like 0s, so had MAC address in there wrong.
Font for address needs to be smaller, paler, through in some Os, as in the letter, make the background lighter shade.
Oh, a mention or 2 of needing the MAC in setup instructions might help too
    Anyway fixed it.

  • IPhone unable to join networks =/

This is really frustrating.  I can't connect to the ATT wifi, I setup my macbook pro to share it's LAN connection via wifi... it just keeps telling me it's unable to join the network.
I've tried different channels, passwords, etc.. in the wifi share settings.  ideas?

My daughter gave her perfectly functional iphone 4S to her mother when she got her 5.
I wiped it and activated it via iTunes  (which  upgraded software) and it worked fine for a while ( hours).
Then it started to have problems firstly joining and subsequently locating available networks although every other network device in the house could see them with no issues.
I went on the web and followed all the recommended procedures several times including restoring as a new phone with no real progress. Plenty of people seem to be having this problem.
I noticed that sometimes it would connect and stay connected for hours and you could browse but if you attempted a download it generally dropped out to 3G.
I started to notice a pattern - it would work OK first thing in the morning - it would drop out to 3G when plugged in to the charger.
I had read on the web about people putting their phone in the freezer but dismissed them as fruit cakes.
But I was getting desperate - I had visited the Genius Bar in Covent Garden and they said the WiFi chip checked out healthy although the phone wouldn't connect to the stores network ? Their response to everybody about me seemed to be if its out of warranty we will sell you a new one - you think our hardware fragile sir oh no no no !!
So I have experimented - power it off and put it in a cool place for half an hour or pop it in the fridge for 15 minutes and it works perfectly and I am able to download whatever you like - keep the board cool and WiFi keeps working. If you do a home button and on/off reset sometimes it comes up with the WiFi option is greyed out - then a simple power off and on overcomes this.
Not awfully practical I admit if you live somewhere warm or if wifi is critical but managable for a low usage retiree in the UK.
Of course with such a harware fault the tolereance level of every chip will probably be different but give it a go.

  • PC w/Vista can't join network

I'm trying to get an HP computer with Vista to log onto my Apple Network. It can't make the connection. When trying to manually set up the connection the PC asks for an encryption type of AES or TKIP non of which seem relevant to my Airport. The PC has a LAN network installed. What has to happen to enable this PC to long onto my Apple Airport network? Thanks

"What you are saying (in MY case) is to go to the Mac - which works fine with the Airport - get the 'key' info, then go to the windows laptop."
Yes, correct. You would try to create a connection to a wireless network (the one created by the apple base station). Usually, you will be asked for a network "key"
The tricky part once you open AirPort Utility is to look at the very top of your screen next to the apple logo for the menu items. Look for "Base Station", then click "Equivalent Network Password". The next window will open to display your normal "password" and its code or "key", which will be a very long series of letters and numbers. It is this actual "key" that most PCs will need to be able to log on.
    Hope this works for you.

  • Wi-fi login page no longer loads in Safari: can't join network

We have paid wi-fi in our apt building. My Mac Mini gets on fine: I pick the network from the AirPort menubar drop-down, launch Safari, the login page comes up, I enter my name & password and that's it. My MBP used to do the same. Now, I can still pick the network in the menubar drop-down, launch Safari, type some crap in the Google box, but the blue progress line only makes it to the "p" in the "http://www.google..." string. I dumped my /Library/SystemConfiguration folder and replaced it with the one from TimeMachine (and, yes, I did a cold shutdown to prevent "com.apple.network.identification.plist" from being overwritten by the "bad" settings in RAM).
Has this ever happened to anyone else? What do I delete, reinstall, or otherwise do?

I cannot get to the point of logging in.
Normally, after selecting my apt's network, Safari will automatically load the wi-fi's login page. This can be hurried, as you know, by typing crap in the Google field and hitting return.
Suddenly, this page is not loading anymore on my MBP: the light-blue progress bar only makes it to the "p" in the "http://www.google..." string.
It's not the wi-fi's fault: here I type to you on my Mini.

  • Iphone does not "see" network

friend visiting my daughter.  her new iphone does not locate my daughter's wifi.  my daughter is connected to it with mer macbook.  the phone "sees" other networks in the areas.  why not this one?
PS  had her shut down phone and then turn it back on.  no effect.
had her enter the network name in "Other," but it still could not locate it.

    it is not hidden.
    N (airport extreme base station)
other devices, including my iphone, have connected to this network recently.  as noted, my daughter's macbook "sees" and is connected to the network.
the network is up and available.
the iphone can detect other networks in the vicinity, also detected by the macbook, but not the one located 20 feet away.
has to be something regarding that iphone, right?
    device has been restarted.

  • WRT1900AC - Sudden/unexplianed connection drops, then "can't rejoin network"

The WRT1900AC has been excellent in my home, providing coverage to all corners of a large home.  Has allowed me to do away with the range extenders that I used previously.  Recently, users are all experiencing a drop from the network.  Devices won't rejoin even though the network appears on the list of avialable networks.  If you select the wireless network, it asks for the network key again (it shouldnt do this, of course, but the key is stored on the device or PC), and when you enter the correct key, we all get a "can't join network" message.  The only way to fix this is a reboot of the router, then all devices rejoin automatically as it should.
Interestingly, no issues on the 5 ghz network, or on the guess network.  Just the 2.4 network.
    I have tired the following:
    1. Reflashed current firmware
    2. Checked for any IP device conflicts
    3. Ran inSSIDer to look for channel conflicts -- I have changed over to 11 which is the clearest non-overlapping channel in my area
    Recent changes within my environment:
    1. new high speed modem (connectivity to the internet is always fine -- I am havng a wireless issue, not internet connectivity...when all devices have been dropped from the network, wired connections still work)
    2. update to software on two WEMO light switches...but I doubt they are causing any issues
Of course, when I have time to work on this issue which has been causing problems all week, I find that Linksys support is closed on weekends.
    Any suggestions anyone?

    Try:
If IPv6 isn't required by your ISP; Connectivity => Internet Settings => IPv6 => Edit => Uncheck Enable
Media Prioritization => Enable => Check
Media Prioritization => Settings and apply accurate Downstream and if available Upstream values; Initially keep all devices and Apps normal priority
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

I can not join the my home WIFI network. I have iPhone and iTouch connected as well as my windows laptop. I have trie power on rese, and network reset. What do I do next?

This is something else you can try.
Go to Settings>WiFi>Your Network Name (tap the blue arrow)>Forget this Network. Reboot your iPad, hold down on the sleep button at the top for a couple of seconds until the red slider appears, slide to shut down. Then press the sleep button again until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button and the iPad will restart. Try to join your network again.

    Have you tried standard troubleshooting
ie reboot   >> press hold and sleep until Apple logo appears ignoring

  • Can't join the airport extreme network with my iphone~~please help

Can't join the airport extreme network with my iphone

What radio mode do you have the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) configured for? (ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless > Radio Mode = ?)

  • Macbook Pro can't see wireless network or connect to it, but iPhone can!?!?

    ok here"s the deal:
I got my macbook pro in the states through school and it has been working fine ever since. I now just moved back home to Germany and for some odd reason the wireless network at home at my mom's won't appear in my "join network" list.
I have tried diagnostics and advanced stuff, I have even typed in the network name and password into my preferred networks list manually... still nothing. When I connect the computer through an ethernet cable it works just fine. also searched and updated all my updates in case that was maybe the issue...
here's the clue. my sister and her friend both also have macbooks (not pro's though) and both also run leopard and both of their laptops can see and connect to our wireless just fine. ALSO I have an iPhone, I purchased in the states and it can see and connect without any issues as well..
I have called the German Apple support people, but they are absolutely useless and there are exactly 2 (!!!) genius bars here in Germany. one 4h and one 6h from where I live... sighs
this is what I found in my about section, in case anybody knows what this means:
    +AirPort Card Information:+
    +Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8C)+
    +Wireless Card Locale: USA+
    +Wireless Card Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.91.21)+
is it because it says "USA" and I am now in Germany? but how stupid would that be? other people that bring their American macs over don't have issues either... right???
    so yeah... HELP??? ANYBODY??? PLEASE???

    Hello,
I had the same problem when I was traveling with my 2009 Macbook Pro. I am on a French ship and my MacBook was bought in the US. We have a wireless gaming network to play Call of Duty on that is set up on a LinkSys router. I was so frustrated because everyone else here could connect and play without a problem. My iPhone would even connect to the network but my MacBook Airport card wouldn't even recognize the network.
It turns out that some countries use different Wifi channels. The Airport card in the US MacBook Pro is setup to only recognize channels 1-11. The European LinkSys router was broadcasting on channel 13 which is why my MacBook couldn't even see it. I changed the wireless channel on the router to 10 and now everything works great. I hope this works for you.
    Cheers
P.S. - The US MBP can only recognize channels 1-11 on a standard 2.4GHz network. To see what channels your Airport Card will recognize, open System Profiler (located in the Utilities folder) and find the "Network" heading in the column on the left. Click "Airport" and it should display all of the supported channels in the info box to the right.
