Iphone cannont be used required sofware not installed

I finally got ITunes reinstalled on Windows XP after many laborous hours.  Now when I plug in my Iphone 5 I of course get a new message.
THIS IPHONE CANNOT BE USED BECAUSE THE REQUIRED SOFTWARE IS NOT INSTALLED.  RUN THE ITUNES INSATLLER TO REMOVE ITUNES THEN INSTALL ITUNES AGAIN.
Really, I have uninstalled and reinstalled this thing I cannot tell you how many times.
If anyone can help, please let me tell you I am by no means very computer savy with some of the lingo.  I need exact instructions if you know what I can do.  I am afraid to uninstall it again because of how long it took to even be able to pull it up after the reinstall.

EDIT: sorry, I initially posted the wrong instructions for you. We're supposed to be trying a standalone AMDS install not a standalone AAS install.
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

  • IPod/iPad cannot be used, required software not installed

    Hi,
This problem just started after the last update to the latest iTunes for Windows.  When connecting to the computer, iTunes shows a popup that says:
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed.  Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
I've ran the installer and done that several times.  I've rest both iPod and iPad, but I still get the above error when trying to connect.

I finally had success!!  I saw in another forum a post where the person had the same problem and removed QuickTime and then iTunes, restarted, and then re-installed iTunes.  This person said it worked.  So, I took it a step more and did this:
    1-Uninstalled QuickTime
    2-Uninstalled Apple Moble Device Manager
    3-Uninstalled Apple Software Update Manager
    4-Uninstalled iTunes
    5-Restarted Computer
    6-Installed iTunes
    7-Restarted Computer
After that, all is well.  You might not need to do all that, but that is what worked for me on my Windows 8 machine after the last iTunes update.

    Hello Negaz
When you uninstalled iTunes, did you uninstall it by using the article below or just uninstalled iTunes? The best practice is to remove not only iTunes, but also other associating software in the order that the first article give. If that does not work, then check out the second article for more troubleshooting options for connecting your iPhone to your computer.

    Steve,
Not to sure what type AVI files they are, the storage devise is at present offshore on a job.
Can you clarify, if you edit/import video footage with adobe premiere 10 and then create a file, the file or the original raw footage is not stored on computer for re-use, if it is stored, is it stored in the original format.
Also please find details of storage devise,

    I don't think you're on iOS 5, I think you're using iOS 6.  That's the latest version.
Unless you've used iCloud to back up your documents, you won't be able to restore them.  And for future reference, you don't have to uninstall Pages to update your iPad anymore.  Sorry about this.

  • Have ipod touch vers 4.2.1...using itunes 64-bit vers....error when connecting...Required software not installed...asks me to install 64-bit vers.  Done everything possible

I am using an older ipod touch with version 4.2.1 software (newest available).  I am using itunes 64-bit version 10.7 (newest).  when trying to connect i get this error message...."This ipod cannot be used because the proper software is not installed.  Install 64-bit itunes software."  As mentioned 64 bit IS installed.  Everything was working just fine a couple weeks ago.....no idea what happened!  I have run all the troubleshooting guides mentioned by apple....uninstall, reinstall, reset ipod, etc.
No clue what is going on.....any possibility there is a "hidden" file within itunes that is causing this problem?
Thanks in advance to all who help!!
    Kevin

Yes...have done this numerous times.....even found some files that normal uninstall does not delete (.itl type).
This really weird because I have several other computers in the house that all work just fine.  ALL run Windows 7, ALL have iTunes vers 10.7, ALL sync just fine.

  • When i start itune than error shows this ipod cannot be use because the required software  not  install

when i start itune than error shows this ipod cannot be use because the required software  not  install

Have you tried removing and then einstalling the Apple software:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

  • Required software not installed

When I open itunes with my iphone plugged into a USB I get the following message
"This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, the  install iTunes again."
I have done this several times and it makes no difference. I have also run the troubleshooter which has, again, not worked.

Try disabling any antivirus and firewall software you have installed, then remove and re-install iTunes. Don't re-enable the antivrus/firewall until after your first successful sync.

  • Software required is not installed correctly, please reinstall Itunes

I've been at my Dad's house helping build some tables in the past couple of months. I've turned on my pc last sunday and had 15 updates from windows update., so i let it download and install them as i was unpacking.
I started up iTunes and it said there was an update, so I installed the new version, along with the new firmware.
Since then, I get the erro:
"The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iYunes to install the iPid's software."
I've gone through all the 5 R's, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716, but I can stil see it on my pc, but not iTunes or the Updater.
I've ended the iPodservice.exe, restart, use iTunes/updater, but the iPodservice.exe is running before I use them, but is gone when I use either iTunes or the updater. I can't find anything in the event viewer stating anthing wrong.
I've read other threads, a bit annoyed of how the forum has the posts set left and right and not in exact order of date and time of post, but that's my opinion. But yet I have not found a explanation of why this is happening, and a most accurate way to fix this.
If anyone needs to know, I'm using a 5gen 30gig iPod. I never had this problem before or any problem before either.
Only thing I can assume is window's current updates messed it up just to make the Windows visa look good when it comes out.

First, for the forum view issue. Go to My Settings (on the right) and in General Settings change the Topic Page View to Flat. Click Save. Posts should show up in the order they were written.
    Have you seen this?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93764
Also, since you said that you've gone through the 5 Rs, I would assume that you used the iPod Updater to restore (since there is no other way of doing it and you don't "run" the 5 Rs).
When you restored, did you use the latest updater?
You may also want to try formatting the iPod through Windows. Connect it to the computer and when it appears in My Computer right click it and go to format. Does anything happen? Can you format the iPod through Windows?

  • ITunes 11.04 errors (-42404, -50, required component not installed)

Help! Following a prompt from Apple SOftware update I just installed the iTunes 11.0.4.4 onto my Windows 7 laptop. SInce then, everything I want to do on iTunes, I can't. I can't connect to my iTunes library stored on my Mac, I can't log into my iTunes account and every time I open iTunes I am told that a required component is not installed and I have to reinstall iTunes. No matter how many times I do this, the problems persist. HAs anyone else had any experience of this and worked out how to fix it?

    Hello prawnboy,
An repetitive error like that would definitely get frustrating.  I understand that you have already tried reinstalling iTunes, but I recommend uninstalling the iTunes following the steps in the following article and then trying to reinstall iTunes:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Adobe reader XI can't open mp3 files in a pdf document- says the required decoder not installed

Adobe reader XI can't open mp3 file links contained in a pdf - it says the required decoder is not installed
    please help!

This is not a function of Reader, but that your computer does not seem to be configured to play mp3 files. Try fixing your file associations. The method of doing so depends upon your OS and it version number.

  • IPhone 8.0.1 downloaded but not installed

    Hi all,
It seems that while I was doing the installation of the 8.0.1 update, it was retired. iTunes does say that the current version I have in my iPhone 5 is the current available (8.0), but my phone insists to let me know that it has a new updated already downloaded and ready to go... but it won't install (verification failed). Apple made a mess, I can see that in other forums. My question is how I can remove that update from the iphone, that is using around 1 GB of storage (and I want it back)?
    Cheers

    Thanks Chris,
But I still see the "1" over "Configuration". So the file is gone, when checking the version is says that there is no update, but the "1" is still over the Configuration icon.
Any idea how to make it go away?
    Cheers,
    Ana
