IPhone cannot be read by iTunes
I recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and I was pretty happy about that. But then my wi-fi started acting up. I couldnt connect to my Aunt's internet that she had just gotten installed that very same day. So I reset my network settings and everything was working just fine for a while. Then about a week and a half later (which brings us to today) I was trying to sync my iPhone with iTunes, and a message popped up that said iTunes cannot read my iPhone 4. The message also said that in order for my phone to start working properly again is to restore my phone. From what I heard, restoring deletes EVERYTHING off of my phone. I don't like that very much. The thing is, I need the information on my phone and I'm not sure if its backed up or not. iCloud probably would be able to help me in this crisis, but i can't get that either!! I was thinking that maybe if I updated the software to iOS 6.0.1, everything would be good again. But as suspected, I can't. If you have ANY clue on how to fix this mess (preferably WITHOUT restoring my iPhone) I would really apperciate it.
Have you recently reinstalled your OS from an older DVD or backup or ued your Library from a different System? Try to update to the newest Version of iTunes (it should be 10.4.1) from the Apple Menu -> Software Update.
That should resolve that problem.

Okay, that means with the latest iOS software, it requires the latest version of iTunes on the computer. Which computer OS platform are you using. Now you are saying that after downloading the latest version of iTunes that your iPhone is not being recognized by iTunes? Completely different thing, and the iTunes on the iPhone has nothing to do with that anyway. The iTunes on the iPhone is just for purchases.
If you are having trouble with the iPhone being recognized by iTunes, use the appropriate link for your computer OS for assistance.

Turn off the passcode. Disconnect the iPhone first.
Tap Settings > General > Passcode Lock (from there you can turn it off)
Then connect the iPhone to your computer. -
I get a message that my ipad 2 and iphone 5 cannot connect to the itunes store when I try to sync a book to my book app. Although, when I click "store" both are able to access the itunes store. Why is this? Also I tried to open a book that was synced and a message that I did not have enough memory to load this book popped up--when I know that I have well over 40gb of memory left in my ipad and over 16gb left in my iphone. The message that I cannot connect to the itunes store is strange that it offers no option and I have to hit OK to get out and use my ipad or iphone.
Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and changing the date to a few months (or maybe a year or two) in the future and then re-trying -

How long ago did you make the purchase? I've noticed during particularly busy periods on iTunes, it might take a few minutes.
You might want to try logging out and back into your iTunes account on both the iPhone and computer. -

When i try to connect itunes i often get 'cannot connect to the itunes store' HAve tried signing out and back in and on wifi or 3g help!
In order to get rid of this annoying error message, follow these steps:
Open Settings
Tap General
Tap Date and Time
Turn ‘Set Automatically’ to Off
Manually change the year to 2013
Again Open Settings
Tap iCloud
Turn Passbook option Off
Return to Settings > General >Date and Time and turn ‘Set Automatically to On
Try updating again.
Am sure it will help you to sort this issue. -
IPod Classic Cannot Be Read By iTunes
Yesterday after charging my iPod,once disconnecting it I realised that there wasn't any music on the iPod which I thought was stragne.So I connected it back to my PC and for some odd reason it isn't be read by iTunes however it does show that the iPod is connected on My Computer.Also,when I connect it my iTunes freezes and so does My Computer.
Any idea whats up guys ?I am having similar problems. After seven months of working perfectly, itunes doesnt want to recognise my ipod. I have been through all the steps on the document suggested and tried various network drive letters for the ipod. I have reinstalled itunes 5 times now. The ipod is clearly there when i go into explorer, the computer recognises it as my ipod but when Iopen itunes, the option to sunc ipod is greyed out and there is no sign of the ipod. have tried resetting the ipod whilst it is connected to the comuter and itunes and when its not. Nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone have any other suggestions before I pull all my hair out. Cheers -
IPhone 4 cannot be read by iTunes 10.6.
Before I downloaded 10.6, I opened iTunes and said my iPhone could be updated to iOS 5.0.1, so I ran it. An error showed up and I figured I could just try again, except my iPhone would not show up under devices. My hp laptop was able to read the iPhone but iTunes couldn't. So I downloaded iTunes 10.6 to see if it helped, it didn't. I used a different cord, no luck. I used a different USB port, still no luck. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled, nothing. I used device manager as many people have, it didn't work. I did the whole sleep/wake up and home button holding down thing, no help there either. I thought it could be my laptop so I tried my second generation iPod touch and iTunes did read it, so I don't know what's going on. I need my phone, can someone tell me whats wrong, I'm hoping to get an answer here instead of take a long trip down to the genius bar.

A few days ago i purchased an original iPhone from my friend that was broken. It would not load past the white apple logo when i turned it on. I put the iPhone in recovery mode and restored it to iOS 3.1.3 and assumed it would work after that. I however, was wrong! The iPhone is currently stuck on the slide for emergency and connect to itunes screen. When i plugged it into the computer and went to itunes, the phone was listed under devices. But when i clicked on it, it just came up with a blank white screen that said iphone in big gray letters. I live in Italy because my father is in the military so therefore i cannot take it to an apple store to ask someone smarter than me for one on one help with this problem. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated i just want to have this phone working again! lol
Ok!!! I found the way how to do it and everything is fine now. If someone has got the same problem as me you just need to restart your iPad. You hold the Sleep/wake button till the red line comes out then you scrol your finger on it and then after a minute you hold the same button again till the apple sing come out.

I have 900 photos on my iPhone currently, but iTunes reads it as 2000 photos eventhough I've already transferred and deleted my previous photos (w/c did amount to 2k before). It's eating up 4.91 GB of my storage, and I don't know how to set it right. I want to add music and update my iOS, but it tells me I can't because my "4.91 GB" worth of photos is eating up my storage. Please help. Thanks.

Its because of new update on iPhone, Old photos don't Get deleted itself you have to delete manually… -
My Windows XP crashed yesterday. We restored the computer and Itunes and all of the music was still intact (thank god!) Anyway, I added some more songs then went to import them to my Ipod, but just when the Itunes is about to recognize the Ipod, I get a message saying that my IPod is improperly installed and cannot communicate with ITunes.
It then tells me to install ITunes and Ipod. I do that, but then it says a newer version of ITunes is already on this computer. I then restart it, and the same problem continues to persist. Do I need to uninstall/reinstall ITunes first? Any help would be great.Welcome to Apple Discussions, Justin.

if windows then if it show up in my computer as a camera then the problem is with the itunes install or some of the apple services running on windows
if it does not show up in my computer it's a problem with 1 the cable or 2 the usb port or 3 the usb driver for the motherboard of the computer under windows
troubleshooting by connecting it to the another computer to see if it's recognised there if a computer which have no issues with other ios devices

The storage space you have on your phone and the storage space you have available in your iCloud account are not the same thing. You need to remove some items from your phone, if you are to free up space to download items from iTunes.
