my iphone cannot be picked up under devices on any computer . i have an almost new imac and it wont work on there i want to pop my photos on the computer HELP

Are you using a Windows based computer or an Apple computer?
Are other iPhones recognized by that computer?

As you connect your ipod to iTunes, an option in the upper right of the screen will appear. When you click this, it will show the different menu for your ipod.

I understand you are trying to connect your iPhone to your computer so you can sync media to the iPhone, but when you connect your iPhone to your computer iTunes does not recognize the device. Please help me! iPhone original is read by itunes under devices but when i click on it there is just a blank screen? Please help me!

A few days ago i purchased an original iPhone from my friend that was broken. It would not load past the white apple logo when i turned it on. I put the iPhone in recovery mode and restored it to iOS 3.1.3 and assumed it would work after that. I however, was wrong! The iPhone is currently stuck on the slide for emergency and connect to itunes screen. When i plugged it into the computer and went to itunes, the phone was listed under devices. But when i clicked on it, it just came up with a blank white screen that said iphone in big gray letters. I live in Italy because my father is in the military so therefore i cannot take it to an apple store to ask someone smarter than me for one on one help with this problem. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated i just want to have this phone working again! lol

Ok!!! I found the way how to do it and everything is fine now. If someone has got the same problem as me you just need to restart your iPad. You hold the Sleep/wake button till the red line comes out then you scrol your finger on it and then after a minute you hold the same button again till the apple sing come out.

Here is more info on what you are seeing. It is called an Encrypted backup.

In the iTunes Summary screen, select "Encrypt iPhone backup" if you want to encrypt the information stored on your computer when iTunes makes a backup. Encrypted backups are indicated by a padlock icon, and a password is required to restore the information to iPhone. You may want to write down the password for your backup and store it in a safe place. If you use a Mac, when you set a password you can select to store the password in the keychain. With iOS 4 and later, you can transfer the iOS keychain backup to a new device if you encrypt the backup.
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device

Why do I have both devices (ipad & iphone) simultaneausly showing up in itunes under "devices" when only the ipad is plugged in?

WHen I plug my ipad in it will start to sunc and then after a few minutes my iphone will show up under devices. I then get all my iphone data on my ipad as well. Does anyone know how tocorrect this?

You may have enabled wifi sync on your iPhone.

I downloaded songs to my iPod but i can't see them in iTunes under devices?

I created a playlist and transferred it to my iPod shuffle, but when I connect the shuffle to iTunes, I can't see the songs listed under Devices/iPod. The only i see is the Software License agreement but I've already agreed & saved this to my PC.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

Solution for Disappearing Apple TV in iTunes under Devices

I have stumbled accross a weird but real solution to all of you that keep haveing the Apple TV disappear after 15 seconds or so.
I have no idea why this works but it is obviously a bug.
Here you go.
Start iTunes and when you see Apple TV appear under Devices, click it to see it start uploading your content.
Then very quicly open Preferences off the top menu and to to the Apple TV tab. Leave that window open. If you do , the load and sync continues and really works.
Once you shut the window the Apple TV sync will stop and will disappear under devices. This is an obvisou bug, but it works.

IPhone 3GS Not Recognized by PC, iTunes or Device Manager

I'm hoping someone can help me out here, my laptop isn't recognizing my iPhone when I plug it in, it doesn't show in iTunes and it doesn't show in Device Manager either. I've already restored my computer back almost a week, I've reinstalled iTunes, and I've stopped/started the Apple Mobile Device service, I've taken a screen shot to try and force my laptop to see it as a camera, along with whatever else I could find that pertained to my issue, and it still isn't being recognized when I plug it in. It works on another PC (an older HP laptop with the newest iTunes), I'm currently using a Sony VAIO VGN-FW480J Vista 64 with the newest iTunes installed as well. The odd thing is that when my phone was acting up the other day, it put itself in restore mode and my laptop picked it up right away as did iTunes. But when the phone is functioning properly it doesn't see it, and its only been recently that its doing this. Does anyone have any ideas as to whats causing this to happen, and how can it be resolved? Just to save the question from being asked, no the phone is not jailbroken, I did it with my 3g a year or so ago and saw no real gain out of it, so why do it to my 3GS. Thanks in advance for any and all help with the issue.

I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO THAT I JUST BOUGHT MY 30GB IPOD VIDEO ABOUT 4 HOURS AGO, SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN REALLY STRUGGLING TO INSTALL IT. A SOON AS I GOT IT, I DID EXACTLY WHAT IT SAID, I WENT TO WWW.APPLE.COM/IPOD/START AND DOWNLOADED THE NEWEST ITUNES VERSION. THEN I PLUGGED IN MY IPOD TO MY COMPUTER, AND ALL THAT HAPPENS IS A LITTLE BUBBLE OPENS UP AND SAYS "FOUND NEW HARDWARE" WHEN I CLICK THAT, IT OPENS UP, AND I CLICK "INSTALL THE SOFTWARE AUTOMATICALLY" WHERE IT SAYS IT, THEN I CLICK NEXT AND WAIT. Ipod Classic connected but not showing in Itunes under Devices

I plug my ipod into my computer, I get a windows message saying some files may be damaged, Itunes actually automatically loads up but my Ipod is not shown in the Devices list in Itunes
I have been wracking my brain over this!
I have uninstalled/reinstalled Itunes 3 times, have reset my ipod manually (& now have no music on it at all!) have put the Ipod into disk mode, have taken it out of disk mode. On my laptop I've gone into Services - stopped/then started the Apple Device. I've removed the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver & reinstalled all to no avail! It still wont show up in Itunes!
Just to clarify;
- My laptop CAN see my ipod in its list of devices under My computer
- When I connect the Ipod, I get a window message from Windows saying some files may be damaged & it suggests running a scan.
- Itunes will start up when i plug in my IPOD, however
- My IPOD will not show up in the list of devices in Itunes
Another thing, I have 120GB ipod when I did a restore it deleted all the music but it is telling me that i only have 111GB memory available?!?!
After reading through the forums I did see someone state somewhere that you can restore your Ipod from Windows but I can't find the link that gives a list of instructions on how to do this.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes you can use the tools provided by Windows to reformat your iPod. Just make sure to format it as FAT32 and that the "Quick Format" option is not selected. For complete instructions, see this article.

My iPod touch playlists only show up on iTunes under devices and not on the iTouch itself. On iTunes, I cannot play my songs from the iTouch on iTunes. Any ideas?

Suddenly in the last 10 days, my iPod Touch playlists don't show up on the iPod unless plugged into iTunes and only under the device section of iTunes. When I try to play a song on my iPod a different song from the library comes up and plays. Lastly, when I try to play the songs in the iPod library on iTunes when plugged into the computer, an exclamation mark appears to the left of the song title and will not play. Any ideas?
