IPhone car connection

I had an old 2G iPhone which I could connect through my car stereo. This would play the tracks through my car speakers and I could control the tracks and volume through the stereo controls. This would also charge my phone at the same time. However, my new 3GS phone plays ok, but no longer charges, a message appears on the phone saying that it will not charge. Is this right, and if so, why have apple changed this feature. Am I expected to fork out for a new lead in my car?

Apple changed the pin on the dock connector that carries the power. Newer devices expect to get power from a different pin that what older cables supply it on. You will need to either get a new cord (as long as the manufacturer makes a new one) or you can get a separate attachment that connects between the cable and the device to change what pin the power is going to. Here is a link to one such device.

  • IPhone Car connection - pairing issues

I have bought a new iPhone4s. The phone pairs ok with my Car Stereo System. It does however loose the connection everytime the radio or the car gets turned off and requires re-entering the complete pairing process (including password). Does anybody have a similar problem ? Any ideas for a solution ? (My previous iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 were perfectly paired and kept the connection over a long time).

You don't.  The iPhone has NEVER paired with computers except for the purpose of tethering.

  • My iphone 6 connects to the car via bluetooth, the music works good, but the phone calles does not work.  It looks like it is working but doesn't.  I have tried in my Hyundai and a Dodge rent car and get the same results.  I updated the last 8.0.2.

My iphone 6 connects to the car via bluetooth, the music works good, but the phone calls does not work.  It looks like it is working but doesn't.  I have tried in my Hyundai Sonata and a Dodge Dart rent car and get the same results.  I updated the last 8.0.2.  It worked the first day i had the phone, and then i updated to Ios 8.0.2 and it quit working.
Now when i get in the car, it acts like it is connected and makes the same call it was on after syncing to bluetooth, but it really isn't on a call.  This is happening on both cars.
Does anyone know if this is the phone and i need to take it to Apple or if there is an issue that Apple is working on getting a fix for?
My son in law has the exact same phone as me, we both got the on 10/6, he had a Dodge Dart and his is working via bluetooth.
Someone HELP please, as i consider this a safety issue by not having my calls go to bluetooth.

We had the same problem, but figure out the solution.
You MUST have at least 1 song added to your ITUNE!  After you add a free song, then everything else should work as normal!
    Hope this helps!

I took my iPhone to the Service center of M/s RSG INFOTECH PRIVATE LIMITED on April 17, 2014.
Why are you posting in this forum about what occured with an independent service provider?  How is is at all relevant to Apple??  In fact, service by any person or business not authorized by Apple voids any waranty.

  • Why my iphone doesnt connect to itunes store, why my iphone doesnt connect to itunes store

my iphone doesnt connect to the itunes store anymore - when i am trying to download apps / update apps as soon i enter my password the error message shows. i really do need help the apple customer care doesnt have any advices phonewise :-(

since you cant uninstall the store and reinstall it I would first suggest resetting your phone by holding the home button and sleep wake button for 15 seconds until you see the apple logo appear if that doesnt work I would suggest restoring your phone from backup if that doesnt work I would restore your phone as new and finally if that doesnt work I would take it to a apple store..

  • ITunes freezing as soon as iPhone is connected

A month ago I bought an iPhone 3GS. I already had iTunes on my computer, so I tried syncing it. But as soon as my iPhone was connected, iTunes would completely freeze up, and the sync would not work. It also displayed an "error in connecting your iPhone". I tried uninstalling iTunes, and re-installing again, it still did not work.
Fed up from this issue, and because I decided to buy the iPhone 4 intead, I returned the iPhone 3GS.
2 days ago, I bought the iPhone 4. I uninstalled iTunes, and installed it again, just to make sure. But guess what? Every time I connect my iPhone 4 to iTunes, it freezes up again. Except this time, it does not show any error messages. It just freezes up, meaning I can't sync anything or do anything with it.
I'm no expert, but could the issue possibly be due to the fact that I've connected several Apple Devices before to this computer, and its causing some kind of conflict?
Is the problem with the iPhone itself or iTunes? I really, really, do not want to have to return this phone. I was waiting for them to stock up on it for weeks. Also, if I got a new phone, the same issue would probably happen.
This is my first experience with Apple Products, and I am certainly NOT impressed. As a paying customer, I do not deserve to have to go through all this.
So if someone can please, please help me with this, I would really appreciate it.

  • ITunes freezes with iPhone, when connected to network

iTunes started to freeze with latest version (9), when iPhone is connected.
I tryed everything from the Apple support page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1421
The last sentence on that page is "Disconnect your computer from the Internet"
iTunes is working well with iPhone, when network is disabled, but how I can fix it? What could be the problem?

    Hey Hoods ginest,
Check out the following article, it'll go over how to sync your photos to your iPhone using iTunes:
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4236
You'll want to read the section titled "Syncing photos to devices" and then "To sync photos from a folder on your hard disk to your device."

  • Since upgrading to iOS 5.1.1 docks and car connection stopped working

Since I upgraded my iPhone last night, my iHome dock, Philips dock and BMW car connection are failing.  When connecting the phone to the docks I get a "This accessory not supported" message on the phone and when I hook it up in the car the car display plays music but is stuck on displaying only the name of the first song and doesn't change when moving from one song to another.

Exactly the same.  Upgraded to 5.1.1.  Now docking port on BMW X5 2009 has stopped working completely...flashes back and forth on the screen "audio accessory connected" to the album covers, 1-2 times per second.  Absolutely no music. The car no longer sees the phone.  Bluetooth voicecalls work fine.
Also, "accessory not supported" flashes constantly on my Bose stero dock.  If I repeatedly plug in the phone I can get it to work 1/2 the time.
iphone that can't play music......great.  How was this missed on QA?
    Anyone know Tim Cook's email??

  • IPhone 5s connect to airport express but when I play in iTunes no option to pick airport ?

iPhone 5s connect to airport express but when I play in iTunes no option to pick airport ?

If anyone would like to know how to fix this, I discovered the answer.
I have no idea what IPv6 is and I care not, but apparently now, all of a sudden, Apple makes iTunes talk to Airport Express units using IPv6. However, it didnt bother to make the Airport Express units expect this first, so iTunes can see the Airport Express, but it cant talk to it.
Anyway, I found that you have to manually go into your Mac settings (scary stuff if you are a non technical person like me) and turn off IPv6.
To do this, go to "Finder > Go > Utilities > Terminal"
    type
    networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi  (hit enter)
    Then type
    networksetup -setv6off Ethernet (hit enter)
and magically your iTunes will talk to your Airport Express units again.
I presume at some point we will have to undo this as technology moves on and everything uses IPv6, so when that happens go into Terminal again and type
    networksetup -setv6automatic Wi-Fi  (hit enter)
    Then type
    networksetup -setv6automatic (hit enter)
    Thanks Apple for that.

  • After upgrade to ios7 podcast shows wrong information on display in the car connected via bluetooth

    Hello everybody,
After upgrade to ios7 I see very strange podcast behavior when iPhone is connected to the car stereo system via the Bluetooth.
When I play the first track it shows correct information about this track. When the first track is finished and I move to another track it still keep showing previous information about previous track.
    I will appreciate your advise.

Assuming you are able to select and play podcasts from your car controls be thankful!  Many of us can no longer control the playback of podcasts from the car controls now that Apple has ripped podcast support from the Musica app!
I have seen that behavior in the past with Music under iOS6 though.  Not sure what caused it.  A reboot of the phone and off/on cycle on the radio would seem to clear it up when it would happen to me.

  • Ipod / iPhone car charger

What is the difference (if any) between the iPod & iPhone car charger?
When I plug my iPod car charger into my iPhone the alert +'This accessory is not made to work with iPhone. Do you want to turn on Airplane Mode?+
I have not tried to actually connect it to the car charger as yet and would appreciate any ideas or experience of same.

You can safely ignore that message (and not use Airplane Mode). It just means the accessory is not shielded against cell phone signals (i.e. you may get some static on your car radio).

  • Can u charge an ipad using an iphone car charger

Can an iPhone car charger be used to charge an iPad2?

Although some direct USB connections will charge the iPad very slowly (very likely even my Acura) it is typically not enough for the "lightning" symbol to even show up on the battery icon on the iPad.  The iPhone car charge is not different and when plugged in, my symbol does not change.  In addition, if you are actually using the iPad at the same time, you'll drain it much faster than the base USB will ever charge it.  I'd buy one made specifically to charge the iPad and then as Chris states you can use it on both without worry.  Like killing two birds with one stone.

  • HT1665 Can iPhone car charger be used for latest iPad?

Can iPhone car charger be used for new iPad?

Probably not. The iPhone charger is 5W whereas the iPad requires a 10W charger. The iPhone car charger will probable charge the iPad, but very slowly.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC)

MirrorLink™ is a recently introduced standard for connecting smartphone devices to vehicle-based infotainment systems. It is a cross-industry solution supported by leading automotive manufacturers, system suppliers, consumer electronics manufacturers and handset manufacturers as part of the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC). MirrorLink™ offers seamless and convenient use of smartphone-based applications such as navigation, music playback and other entertainment and communication apps.
Hopefully Apple will also join the CCC - This way we'll hopefully be able to intergate our iPhones and iPads etc. with Car Audio head Units that support MirrorLink http://www.mirrorlink.com/news-and-events/press-releases/ccc-tagline-contest.htm l.
For instance the Alpine ICS-X8 http://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/bluetooth-and-usb8/ics-x8_23559 and ICS-X7 supports MirrorLink. Mobile phones from Nokia and also the Samsung Galaxy S3 already supports MirrorLink.
Come on Apple please join the CCC!

Same here. 2011 Jetta SE with MDI iPod adapter cable, when I connect the iPhone (4), the stereo display shows that it's playing, but no audio is heard. So far when I disconnect it and reconnect a second time, no problem. It's a bit annoying. Also, shouldn't A2DP Bluetooth streaming work? I see it as an option in the Media menu, but it's greyed out. I have a feeling only the Jetta SEL supports this? If so, that's a bit of a disappointment.

    Hello ardninam,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If the content on your iPhone cannot be read by iTunes, then you will need to follow the directions in the popup and restore your iPhone to the factory settings.  You can then try and restore from a previous backup.
