IPhone case with a Magnetic Closure... Good or bad?

I am planning to buy a folding type case for my iPhone 4s that has a Magnetic closure...Is it safe to use it???will it harm my phone in any way??Please help..

You never stated anything earlier about Compass so I was talking about the magnetic case not having an effect on the iPhone itself. If you are attempting to use Compass of course that will have an effect since there is no way for the weak magnetic field of the earth to override the magnetic field of the case. So if you want to use Compass then don't use the magnetic case. If you want to use the magnetic case then don't use Compass. Simple.
You can't have it both ways.
I still stand by my original position the magnetic case will not effect the iPhone.

  • Can I use a case with a magnetic closure for my iPhone?

I received a leather case for my iPhone that has a magnetic closure. I'm concerned that this may cause interference. Any insight out there, would be greatly appreciated!

There are reports (again, try searching the forum) that certain kinds of magnets create problems, whereas others do not. I know I've even seen this discussed on some case manufacturers' websites, but I can't find an example right this second...
You might look up your case's manufacturer's website and see if they discuss this.

I have been using a leather case with a magnetic clasp for months.  The only side effect is that I need to recalibrate the compass app when I use it.  This is really not a problem since I don't use the compass app very often.  I haven't encountered any other interference or problems.

  • IPhone Case with magnetic closure

I bought a belt case for my iPhone. It's actually designed for a Samsung, but fits the iPhone quite well. It has a flap that folds over the top and closes with a magnetic catch. Can the magnet affect the phone at all?

Well, I've had the iPhone in the case... but no more than a couple of hours at a time. So far nothing wrong... but I only realized last night that it may be an issue was wanted to find out for sure.
Surely if Samsung designed the case for their own phone and it doesn't harm them, it should be ok. Right????

  • Anybody adapt a iPhone case with or without Cover for a Z

I recently bought a Zen. I wanted to try out a case before buying out, but haven't been able to find a case in a store.
Last night I was looking at MicroCenter for a Zen case and I found an iphone case.
I like it, but I wish it had a cover.
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elansleeve
It comes with a plastic sheet to install on the Zen and is very close to the same size.
    Zen Size WxHxD:? 3.26" x 2.6" x 0.44"
    iPhone Size WxHxD:4.50" x 2.40" x 0.48"
So, the iPhone is over an inch longer,? just under a quarter of inch taller, and only 4/00ths thicker.
Since the Zen has a landscape orientation and iPhone has a portrait orientation, you need to switch their definition of height and width. I like it because it comes clip that will work portrait or landscape, but I do wish it had a cover.

  • Would selling cool iPhone cases on eBay be a good ieda im 16 im trying to create a job for my self becasue times are hard

selling cool iPhone cases a good ieda?

While it sounds like a good idea, you will have an incredible amount of competition as anyone can go anywhere to buy an iPhone case. You would have to advertise your business and explain why someone would want to buy from you rather than Best Buy, RadioShack, or any other place where they can pick up a case in an afternoon and not have to wait for it to be shipped. Keep up the business spirit. Maybe look for something you can where you live. Offer a service of some type. Good luck with your search.

  • IPhone Case With Wrist Strap?

Now that the iPhone 4 is a serious HD camcorder, and a much better stills camera, the need for a wrist strap is even greater. Products like the Flip Mino come with an integrated wrist strap hook, a little hole in the side of the device that allows you to thread a wrist strap through. But the iPhone 4 doesn't.
So my question is, does anyone know of any cases that have an integrated wrist strap hook? Failing that, are there any iPhone cases that have a fixed (non-removable) wrist strap?

Until my phone was stolen last night I had this exact Belkin Ergo:
    http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=512055
And I really liked it.  The case was low profile enough to fit in the pocket of my jeans or purse, the strap was sturdy and springy (I tied a knot in it to make the loop smaller) and I was definitely using the **** out of it.  The back of the phone is contoured with ridges which looks more helpful for shoulder cradling than it really is, but it does reduce slippage.
I recommend this product!  I am buying a second one now, and am grateful you helped me refind the link without having to go through all my receipts.
The Interim below looks very nerve-wracking in terms of where the cable is attached.

  • IPhone Case with real "clip"

Does anyone know of a case with a real clip? All the ones I have tried at the apple and AT&T stores have clips that are loose - they don't actually clamp down. For example, often I put the phone in my pocket with the clip on the outside - in this case I want the clip to clamp down on the pants. I like to do this so I can drop my keys into the same pocket and not have to worry about scratching the phone (since the phone sits higher in the pocket because of the clip....
    Thanks!

I'm very happy with the black leather case from "incase" I got at the Apple store.

It's very sturdy and attractive. It tightly clamps onto either my belt or the top of my pants pocket when I've been carrying my new iPhone around this week.

  • Magnetic holders good or bad?- Help

Hi. I am just wondering If anyone knows if carrying my Ipod in a case that snaps shut using a magnet would pose any pontential damage to my machine. I know its not good for computers. I recently got two cases, and they both have magnets, but why would they make them if they would cause damage? I just want to make sure before something goes wrong with my nano.
      Windows XP Pro

I also use a case (made by Belkin) that has a magnet closure and have not experienced any problems (originally used on my 1st gen & now used on one of my 2nd gens). As already mentioned, the magnet is probably too weak to pose any threat to the iPod. But if you want to be sure...you may want to make sure that the cases are officially acceptable to Apple's standards by making sure the packaging has the officially licensed "Made For iPod" logo that shows it has been certified to not harm the iPod.

  • Is it ok to use a belt case with a magnet in it?

i am using a belt case for my new iPhone 3GS and I was wondering if this will have any negative effect to the pone because it uses a magnet instead of a velcro.

Chance of damage is nill, unattended consequences? Possible...generally, magnets & cell phones are not a good mix as the magnet "could" affect performance as you're dealing with radio signals.

  • Ipod Case with a magnet?

I recently purchased an ipod case but it has a magnet as a closure. I was just wondering if anyone knew if having a magnet that close to the ipod was bad for the hard drive. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being paranoid. I wanted to e-mail apple directly but couldn't find an e-mail anywhere. If anyone knows an e-mail I could use to ask them this question, It would be great. Thanks

it really depends on how strong the battery is.
Test it out, the magnet wont cause any physical damage if it's going to do anything the worst it could do is corrupt some data at which point you'll restore your ipod and never use your case again
    Cheers

  • Will I damage my iPhone 4s if I use a flip case with magnetic fastening?

I want to buy a case that I can use to protect the whole of my iPhone and so I need to buy a flip case with a magnetic fastening. However, I have heard rumour that this will damage the compass and navigation on my phone and other various utilities and also ruin the actual touch screen. Is this true or am I safe to go ahead and buy a case?
    Thank you for reading :-)

No, It will not damage the compass but it might cause it to be inaccurate.

  • Iphone case w/magnet

Have a carrying case from the BB storm I tossed, it has a small magnet on the cover (functioned as a sleep mode trigger for the storm), any concern with using this with the IPhone?

    As neuroanatomist indicated:
+"It may cause problems, may not."+
A case with a magnet caused minor (so to speak) issues with my iPhone. I would find that the iPhone would turn itself full-off, requiring a Reset one or more times a day.
Once I had the "white screen of death" that needed a Reset as well.
This never happened with the iPhone before the magnetic closure case. I went to another case (w/o any magnets) and have never had the problems re-occur.
I would (and do) avoid any case with a magnet, but that's just my opinion based on some personal observations.
Draw your own conclusions. Or do a Google search -- You'll be surprised with the number of hits (and anecdotes).
    Best of Luck

  • Any Iphone case (snaps tightly) with belt clip ?

Can anyone suggest Iphone case with belt clip (with rotation upto 90 degrees or more).
I have tried several of them (with belt clip) all of them are not snapping iphone properly and have a feeling that iphone may fall if walk little fast.
Has any one has any suggestions.
Earlier I had a motorola phone whose holster with belt clip snaps in properly

I bough that case and returned it when I accidentally
figured out how to get the phone out. Once you put
the iPhone in the case, it's close to impossible to
remove the phone to the point of breaking the case.
It suggests to slide out the phone: the angle is too
tight and it was close to scratching the screen.
Highly not recommended and stay clear from this case!
I agree. I bought one when I got the iPhone last week, mostly because I didn't want to use it without any case at all. You're right: it's very difficult to remove the iPhone. Plus, the belt clip feels very flimsy.
I'm holding out for a leather case with some padding to protect the iPhone when I drop it. Ideally, I'd like one similar to the case that I bought for my Sony PDA six years ago. It was pricey (about $71 with shipping), but worth every penny. I just checked the company's Web site (http://www.vajacases.com) - they make an iPhone case, but it looks like you have to remove the phone to use it. They apparently have more designs on the way, though.
(The funny part is that the iPhone with the clear case fits almost perfectly in my Vaja case! I think I may use it that way until they come out with a flip case that's specifically designed for it.)
