Iphone charging help

ok, i need help. i bought an iphone 3g 8gb and replaced the battery with a new one. i plug in the usb cable and a battery shows up exactly as the one on the left from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1476 , a minimum red power battery with one lightning bolt. then like 3 seconds later the apple logo appears, and another 3 seconds the screen goes blank. is my iphone charging?

i removed the battery and checked it with a multitester (i should have done this before installing but i forgot) it measured only 0.01v from the contacts meant for the logic board. (even the original battery i had with broken connectors measured 3.7v when i removed it at only 10% battery from the iphone) the battery was dead, ebay *****. thanks for your help amsgator.

If the iPhone doesn't charge when connected to the power adaptor and when connected to your computer after trying another USB cable to rule out a problem with the cable being used, more than likely the iPhone has a hardware problem with the battery or something else.
Make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby to confirm.

Help! I have just broken my iPad charger, can I use my iPhone charger instead? What's the difference?

As far as I know there is no difference, we use the same charger for iphone, ipad, ipod, etc.. and no problem.
    edit:
There is a statement from Apple that confirms this : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327

    Wrong statement! haha
Here is a thread regarding this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2397877
In summary, it'll work, but charging will take more time.

  • Help, my iphone do not charge. my two sons iphone charge perfectly with the same cable..

My iphone do not charge, my sons iphone charge perfectly with the same cable...??  Help Me..
It had about 10% batery left when it suddenly shot itselves off. and now when i try to charge it, it dosent work.... no life???
    Help

Plug it in a wait for 15 minutes.  If the charge indicator doesn't show, try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • Understanding iPhone Charging and Power Adapters

I've been in a protracted discussion (now locked) regarding iPhone battery charging and whether it is harmful/helpful to use the iPad power adapter rather than the iPhone power adapter.
There are a lot of misconceptions related to iPhone charging and current ratings on the iPhone and iPad power adapters.  As an electrical engineer, I'd like to clear up some misconceptions.
Apple supplies a power adapter, not a "battery charger," with the iPhone and iPad.
The iPhone power adapter supplies a constant 5V at up to 1A (rated–independent tests have shown that it can supply almost 1.8A).
The iPad power adapter supplies a constant 5V at up to 2 or 2.1A (rated).
The iPhone's battery charging voltage and current are regulated within the phone.
The iPhone's battery is rated at 3.7V.  Charged with the raw 5V from the power adapter, it would be destroyed.  Fortunately, the internal regulation in the iPhone prevents that.
The maximum current that an iPhone will draw from a 5V power adapter is right around 1 amp.  It does not matter if the charger is capable of supplying more, that's the most that the iPhone will use.
Because of the internal charge regulation, the iPhone battery will not charge any faster on an iPad power adapter than on an iPhone power adapter.
Apple approves the use of the iPad power adapter with the iPhone. It is completely safe for that purpose and does not harm the phone or battery in any way.
A water analogy might make this much easier for people without electrical engineering background to understand.
Water pressure (psi) is analogous to voltage.
Water flow (gallons per minute) is equivalent to current flow (amps).
A faucet valve is analogous to the iPhones battery charging regulation circuitry.
A bucket's capacity (gallons) is analogous to a battery's capacity (amp-hours or AH).
Let's say you adjust the faucet to flow 1/10 of a gallon per hour.  The five gallon bucket will take 50 minutes to fill up.  Easy enough.  But then...
You need a lot more water flow for a new sprinkler system.
You need a lot more current for your new iPad.
Since the water pressure is constant at 80psi, the only way to get more flow use a bigger supply line.
Since the voltage is constant at 5V, the only way to get more current is to use a higher current power adapter.
After installing the new higher capacity water supply line, you go out to your faucet and adjust it to 1/10 of a gallon per hour.
After plugging in the higher capacity iPad adapter, you plug in your iPhone and its charging regulation circuitry adjusts the current flow to about an amp.
The bucket still takes just as long to fill up.
The battery still takes just as long to charge.
The faucet is not under additional strain since the pressure is still 80psi.
The iPhone's battery charging circuitry is not under additional strain since the supply voltage is still 5V.
I hope that I've clarified this for those who want to better understand the subject.

As far as the battery status, the tiny little icon in
the upper right corner of the screen is somewhat
helpful, but while it is connected it does not
actually indicate the level of the charge or that the
Iphone is charging. I was hoping to find a more
informative screen that would give better battery
details. When you first connect the iPhone sometimes
I get a large battery icon that shows the level
visually Is there a way to navigate to this screen?
    1. Press the top button to turn the display off if it's not off already.
    2. Connect to a power source.
    3. The screen should display a large battery meter in the middle of the screen that actually shows the state of charge, even if charging.
If you don't see this plugged into your Mac try the AC adapter that came with the phone. If you still don't see it take it to an Apple store.

My iPhone charges normally trought power outlet, But it won't charge or recognize trough USB connection on my MacBook, even in restore or DFU mode.
Please help me! I'm stuck on restore mode.

I tried on 3 different MacBooks, it doesn't work.
I have some updates though... It is recognized on my car sound system, and It is working fine when connected to a windows PC, I was able to normally activate it... so the problem is not on the connector, Macs just don't recognize it.

  • Is 250V for iPhone charger too much?

I am living in Ireland currently. My outlet adapter broke and I had to buy a new one here. It reads MAX 13A 250V~ Fused. The iPhone charger says it is compatible with 120-240v. Is this a problem for the new adapter? I want to be sure not to fry my iPhone.
    All help appreciated! Thank you!

If the power pack ( I assume NOT Apple ) claims it will handle 250V input then that it is what it should do
Ireland is up to  240v mains
Why not use a genuine Apple product then you have the protection of the 12 months Apple accessories warranty and peace of mind
it is the charger OUTPUT you should be concerned about not the input

  • My cat likes to lick and chew on iPhone charging cables. What does Apple coat their cables with?

My cat likes to lick and chew on iPhone charging cables. Only Apple cables, she is not attracted to any others in our home. Has anyone else had this happen.
The Kindle and iPhone cables are right next to each other. She only likes the Apple cable leaving the Kindle cable untouched.
What does Apple coat their cables with?
    Thanks in advance

I'll go ahead and suggest it. My cat has chewed (and destroyed) the following:
--two sets of my brother's Apple ear buds
--two sets of my boyfriend's Apple ear buds
--three sets of my own Apple ear buds
-- one Macbook power cord ($80+ to replace)
I went into the Apple store Friday to buy a new power cord. I said to the genius helping me, "I didn't even have that cord for a year.  Ye know what happened to it?"
Genius said, "Your cat ate it?"
    They're aware of the issue!
WTH secret ingredient is Apple using?  My story is no different than the others: cat leaves all other cords alone; seeks out and destroys Apple cords.
The only thing I know for sure is that Apple makes money on cord replacements.

  • "Charging with this accessory is not supported" But it's my iPhone charger?

When I try to connect my phone to the iPhone charger in the wall socket, and also the USB cable to my iMac it say's "Charging with this accessory is not supported".
    What's the deal?
Also when I make calls, I get a freaky alien noise nearly everytime. I can hang up and recall the number and it will work fine, but almost every first call is like this, and no doubt I'm getting charged for it too.
    Any help appreciated.

I had a Belkin charger and cord for the iPod Touch 3G because Apple failed to include a necessary AC adapter to charge one of their products, which I thought was cheap being that it is a 300+ device. Anyways, when I plugged my new iPhone 4 in, I could not turn on the sound and it didn't have any sound. When I used the cable that came with the iPhone, I was able to get my sound back. The problem is with the cord. If it is not completely compatible with Apple then you will not be able to charge the iPhone.

  • Iphone charging 2

hi all!!need some help with the charging!

another problem is that when i coonect my iphone with the computer the iphone charges!!is that a problem???
    thanks for your attention!!

The iPhone includes a Lithium based battery, which doesn't have a memory effect and can be charged at any battery level.

When the iPhone is connected to a USB port on your computer which is a power source, the iPhone will be charge which is by design.

  • IPhone Charging is Iffy

Alright so the other day my iPhone (original) was rapidly going in and out of charge state even though it was remaining plugged in, so I looked at a whole bunch of forums that suggested to clean out where the dock plugs into the iphone (the little inlet).
I used a small metal thing attached to my nail clipper and found a whole bunch of lint inside there. I got most (if not all) of it out, and put it back on.
The iPhone wouldn't charge, I wiggled it a bit and it would charge, then go off some seconds later. Eventually I got it to where it'll charge, but randomly it will pop out and in of charge state every second or two until I wiggle it again.
Plugging it into a cord instead of the dock seems to help, but it still happens sometimes. I'm afraid it might be something unfixable (as the iPhone's warranty is up).
    Please help!

Clean the iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush.
