IPhone Charging through computer takes forever

I have tried both ways of charging my iPhone, through the computer and through the wall plug.
Charging through my computer (Powerbook G4) takes forever and never reaches full charge, even when left over night.
When I plug it into the wall, it will reach full charge in a normal time
any ideas?

You do not specify which model of the G4-based PowerBook you are using, but models with USB 2 ports did not ship until September of 2003, when the PowerBook (12 inch G4 DVI), PowerBook G4 (15 inch FW800) and the PowerBook (17 inch 1.33 GHz) units were released.
If you have anything earlier, you have USB 1.1 ports, which are quite likely the cause of your battery recharge issues.

    my brand new ipod touch won't charge through computer or wall adapter please help?????

    When I connect my new 80G iPod to my computer, it
    syncs, but it doesn't seem to be charging. The icon
    is a steady green with a picture of a plug, but when
    unplugged the battery is near empty. Shouldn't the

    That's what it does when I charge from the wall.
    Why isn't my charging through the computer?

    I figured it out. I had the iPod plugged into a USB hub, but since it's an unpowered hub, the iPod won'charge through it. When I go directly to the computer, all is well.

  • Just updated to iOS 6 for iPhone, and now Yahoo takes forever to load.

    Help! I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and now my Yahoo mail either takes forever to load, or never loads at all. Both receiving and sending are sketchy and go at a snail's pace.
    I've scoured the Internet and tried all the fixes - deleted account and added again (multiple times), restarted phone, added yahoo account as "other", logged in from a computer, turned off iCloud...
    It's driving me bonkers... What am I missing? Yahoo mail still works fine on my iPad, which is running the older iOS.

    If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is the thing to do

  • IPhone 3.0 download takes forever

    I've been trying to download the new 3.0 upgrade for my IPhone but it takes forever to back up my files. The process is extremely slow and I get half way through it and then get a message stating that my phone disconnected. Can someone help me with this?

    You are free to work with any released SDK.
    Beta/unreleased SDKs are for review and use by committed developers so that Apple can control their exposure as they are prepared for the general public.
    Paying the fee to register as a developer brings additional benefits, one of which is access to pre-release software. A recent pre-release of iTunes was part of this program as well, again, providing a controlled environment that brings not only a first-look, but associated risks common to pre-release products. It isn't hard to imagine a free-for-all scenario leading to issues that would sidetrack an otherwise organized process.
    if i plan to sell it i pay them an additional 30% of my income!?
    You are also of course free to establish your own mobile platform, OS, app store, sales, marketing, development, support and distribution network where you can keep 100% as you like...after expenses, of course, whatever those may be

  • TS2771 My iPod touch will only charge through computer, new wall charger will not charge it, but charges other iPods

    My sons iPod touch will only charge with computer. This has happened since update. Wall charger charges other iPods/iPhone. Restored to original defaults. And still does not work.

    I believe it started with the update prior to 5.1.1.  I just udated it to the 5.1.1, thinking it would resolve the problem.

  • Can't update iphone software...takes forever to backup.  help!!

    I have the original iphone 16gb and I can't update to the current software. My iphone connects just fine to Itunes. I hit the update software button and it downloads the software just fine, then it starts backing up the iphone and it takes HOURS..DAYS...then I have to quit the process because I need to take my cell phone with me! I have a white macbook and have had no problems with Itunes...I have the latest version of Itunes. What should I do to speed up the updating process? It has never taken this long before! I have a bunch of apps...about 5gb worth...should I erase those first? I tried erasing everything else and it doesn't speed up the process at all. HELP!! By the way, there is 10gb free space on my iphone right now...and it still takes forever!
    Thanks so much! Need to update immediately because I am having serious problems with the phone. Help needed quick!

    Nevermind...I just took all the apps and music off my iphone and it updated real quick. Pain in the butt but it worked.

  • Iphone 3gs not charging through computer

    I do have this experience of electric shocks few days ago. My phone was not dropped before. While it is still charging using the USB cable through my notebook, i picked it up and touches the volumn button, i got a shock. Not sure whats wrong too.
    Do you still get a shock if it is charging from the laptop when the laptop is not connect to power?

  • IPad take FOREVER to charge and Apps take FOREVER to download. Am I the only one having this problem?

    I bought my iPad I'd say about a year ago and this problem has been happening the moment I bought it. I can have the iPad charging all night long and still it doesn't fully charge. I took it to the Apple store a little over a month after I bought it and they ran some tests on it and said everything was fine that maybe it was just the iPad charger so he gave me a new iPad charger but that didn't help whatsoever.
    The other problem I'm having is that when I download Apps on my iPad they seem to take years to download. This can't be my wifi as I have other Mac products and an iPhone that downloads App just fine within seconds.
    Is all of this an iPad issue other people are having? Or am I the only one cursed?

    You need to reopen that case file for your initial problem and get that resolved. That's the first thing.
    The second thing (the download times) can easily be checked out while you are at the Apple Store (as a test you do yourself). Find a couple of large apps (like maybe approaching 1 GB) in which you don't have any personal data in them, and delete them from your iPad. Then redownload them and see how long it takes at the Apple Store.
    If it's quick and normal at the Apple Store, then you've got so,e problem with the iPad working right with your home WiFi, and you'll have to sort that out. If it's just as slow at the Apple Store, then you can open up case file on that issue while you are still in the Apple Store.

  • Charges through computer and iPod Touch?

    So here's the situation. My wife has an iPod Touch (and so did I till Friday), which uses our iTunes account. We do not sync her iPod often at all, but when we do, it is to my macbook, so we use the same account for apps, music, etc. She bought an album the other day through her iPod. I want the same album on my laptop. If we sync her iPod it will solve the problem and transfer the purchase, but we don't want to sync right now. The same situation, but with an app, iTunes just says I've downloaded the app before, and would I like to download it again for free. Music doesn't say that.
    Since I have paid for the album though my account (with her ipod), will it charge me a second time if I download it to my laptop? It doesn't with apps, but it seems to want to charge me with music (keep in mind it's already paid for through my account on her ipod)...
    Thanks

    Since I have paid for the album though my account (with her ipod), will it charge me a second time if I download it to my laptop?
    Yes, you will. Applications are licensed to the App Store differently than music and other media is licensed to the iTunes Store. For media content you only get one download per purchase. If you want the tracks on your system, you'll have to sync them from the iPod or you'll have to purchase them a second time.

  • IPod Photo won't charge with Power Adapter but charges through Computer....

    Hi got this problem... searched the discussion board but didn't find any satisfying answers.
    Hope somebody can help me out here.
    Problem description:
    My iPod photo won't charge using the power adapter from Apple. Bought a second one won't work, used different cables won't work either.
    however it does charge via the USB port of the computer.
    And it also charges via the car stereo plug (forgot the real name but it's from the apple store).
    So does anybody have a similar problem? Could it be the iPod that is defective and also destroyes the Power Adapter maybe?
    didn't try a different iPod to charge yet. So that's one thing left to try for verification.
    untill then maybe somebody knows help, and it might be just a little setting thing.
    Thanks for the Help

    hi Rene!
    hmmmm. it sounds like you've already tried most of the things listed on these documents:
    iPod's battery doesn't charge
    iPod: Troubleshooting the Apple iPod AC Adapter
    iPod: About the Apple iPod Power Adapter
    from what you're reporting, i'm currently most suspicious of the electrical outlets you're using with those adapters. if you try switching it to a different outlet, does it charge properly then?

  • Sending data through network takes forever

    hi fellow java developper
    i'm developping a program that hides files contents trough xml messages in order to exchange securily from a intranet to an extranet whitout having to use ftp and port 21. The problem is it takes over 22 seconds to send a 22k from the server and it takes about 85 seconds to receive it on the client side. this is driving me nuts because i know that delay is extremely high. IS there a way to optimized those to following methods so that the delay is reasonnably cut down
    thanks in advance
    here is my code to send and receive data,
    private BufferedInputStream inBuffer; // input buffer
    private BufferedOutputStream outBuffer; // output buffer
    * Method to send a String to the client
    * @param content is the string to send to client
    public void send(String message) throws IOException
    ByteArrayOutputStream streamOfBytes;
         DataOutputStream insStream_Out;
         streamOfBytes = new ByteArrayOutputStream(message.length());
    insStream_Out = new DataOutputStream(streamOfBytes);
         for (int i = 0; i < message.length(); i++)
              insStream_Out.write((byte)message.charAt(i));
         outBuffer.write(streamOfBytes.toByteArray(), 0,streamOfBytes.size());
         outBuffer.flush();
         * This method permit reception of string messages
         * @param a single character identifying the terminator to avoid receiving garbage
         * @return a string containing the message
         public String receive(char terminal) throws IOException
         char c;
         String message = "";
    long start = System.currentTimeMillis();
    int i = 0;
         while ((c = (char)inBuffer.read()) != terminal)
         message = message + String.valueOf(c);
    i++;
         long end = System.currentTimeMillis();
    System.out.println("temps requis recevoir:" + (end - start) +" ms nbboucle:"+i);
    return message ;
         }

    Hmmm.. there are a few optimization possibilities here, both with respect to creating bytes and retrieving text from bytes again. This is more close to the way java does it, and also the recommended way:// Push data out to a byte[] like this:
    String data; // initialized elsewhere
    ByteArrayOutputStream target = new ByteArrayOutputStream( data.length() );
    DataOutputStream stream = new DataOutputStream();
    stream.writeUTF( data );
    stream.flush();
    byte[] bytes = target.toByteArray();
    // Read data in from an InputStream like this:
    InputStream input; // initialized elsewhere
    DataInputStream stream = new DataInputStream( input );
    StringBuffer result = new StringBuffer();
    try
       // terminates with an EOFException
       // (ridicolous, but that is what the specification says...
       while( true )
          result.append( stream.readUTF() );
    catch( EOFException e )
    return result.toString();However, if your code works, the times you talk about is probably not connected to bad code (unless your XML is really really big) but more likely to network problems. Note that if your output string results in a byte array larger than 65535 bytes, a DataFormatException will be thrown from writeUTF (so the method fails). In that case, you will have to use OutputStreamWriter / InputStreamWriter and specify encoding to be e.g. UTF-8.
    Good luck!

  • After Bios Update through thinkvantage, takes forever for PC to be active

    Hi ,
    I just wanted to say after lenovo update's very useful update, my pc now takes a good minute after boot-up for it to be responsive. Now, after boot, the connecting to internet circle just spins and stops. during this time, nothing else can be opened. when i click on itunes, the win 7 icon shows that it is active and then it goes dim again as if it was closed again. nothing works until the network is connected.
    thanks for the update...not
    any suggestions to reverse this other than reinstalling win 7? or do i just have to deal with this inconvinence since lenovo doesnt realize their update actually messes up their systems?

    I would also report this to Lenovo since posting the issue on the forum is not the same as contacting them directly.
    You've not indicated which machine, configuration you have.  I would boot and go into the bios since it may have changed something. Save and reboot seeing how it is then.

  • IPod Touch 2nd generation not being recognized / charging through iTunes

    I am having issues with my 2nd gen iPod Touch being recognized in iTunes or Windows.  I have tried multiple computers with no luck (Windows XP and 7).
    Here is what is going on.
    iPod is not recognized through computer or iTunes
    iPod doesn't charge through computer or a wall charger, however, will charge through a seperate speaker dock. (this seems odd that it will charge on a dock, but not through the wall charger or computer).
    Each time the iPod is plugged into the computer with Windows XP, I get a message that the USB device is not recognized.  I get no message when plugged into Windows 7.
    Here are the steps I tried to fix the issue.
    used multiple cables, 3 in all.  My iPhone 3gs works fine and is recognzied with all cables / computers.
    reset the device numerous times and re-started computers.
    Uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled with no luck.
    I'm reaching out into the community to see if anyone has had similiar issues and looking for advice to solving this problem.
    Thanks for your help and responses.

    Slightly different contact configuratio in the dock might allow charging nly on the dock.
    If you can't straight out the contacts:
    Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours. However, it may not be worth it for the old 2G iPod.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
    A third-party place like the following is less. Google for more.
    http://www.iresq.com/ipod-repair/ipod-touch-2.html
    but may not be worth it for a 2G
    But may not be worth the $69 plus shipping for the old 2G iPod
