IPhone Contacts Breeding Like Cockroaches - Same With Some iCal events
Annoying problem on the iPhone:
If someone calls me and they are not in my iPhone address book, and I choose to create a new contact from the received call log, then every time I sync my iPhone, that newly created contact gets duplicated every time I sync, in other words every sync means a new duplicate is created. The most recent example had 38 copies of it before I noticed it in my iPhone address book. The duplicated, or should I say multiplied contact cards get synced into Address Book on all my Macs. Very strange. Is this a known bug I've missed, or anyone have ideas of how to stop it from happening.
Along the same lines, I have two specific recurring appointments that every time I dock the iPhone, they get duplicated onto the iPhone only, and the duplicates don't show as recurring events, just new one time only midnight events. Weird, huh?

Okay, I just ran a test on my recurring events, and this is definitely related to using the remind me later feature. If you select remind me later instead of closing an alarmed event, then iSync places a new copy of the event on the iPhone. An interesting angle to that is the new event has an Alert time 8 hours (I'm Pacific Time) later than the Desktop's time.
I'll acknowledge this could be a design limitation of the iPhone's calendar, but it seems more like a bug.
You can duplicate this issue easily by doing the following:
On your computer, create a new recurring event with an alarm time a minute or two in the future, far enough to give you time to sync your iPhone.
Sync your iPhone and make sure the event copied over.
Let the alarm go off on your desktop machine, and then select the repeat in 5 mins option.
Sync your iPhone again.
Now check your iPhone, there will be a new non-recurring copy of the event with an alert time offset to GMT time on the iPhone.
I'm going to send this as a bug report to Apple and hope they see it as such. The iPhone's calendar is a crowded enough view to not need duplicates of events showing up on it.
That answers the calendar portion of this question, but the address book issue is uncertain. This calendar question was asked some time ago, so I'll copy this info into that old unanswered question in case someone else misses this one. Apologies to anyone who might end up reading it twice.

For some odd reason my iPhone calendar entries will not sync with my iCal using the sync feature in iTunes.
The syncing of everything else seems to be working just fine but in the last couple of days ~ now the calendars won't sync.
Entries that I've made in iCal sync alright to my iPhone but not the other way around.....
Anyone out there got any suggestions???First make sure you are entering the events on your phone to your Mac calendar and not some other calendar such as On My iPhone. If you are, and they still won't sync, try resetting the SyncServices folder on your mac, as explained in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627, then try syncing your calendar again. (If you are prompted when syncing your calendar, choose Merge.)

During sync, msg about a conflict with an iCal event that doesn't exist
When syncing the iPhone to the MBP, I sometimes get a message that says there are conflicts with three iCal events. Two weird things about these events:
1. There's no difference between the events being shown on the iPhone and the MBP. The details of the two so-called versions are identical.
2. None of these events actually exist on my iPhone or MBP's iCal!
They look like events that I created and subsequently deleted... but somehow their ghosts are still haunting iCal somewhere -- though they don't show up in searches.
One thing they all have in common: these non-existent events are/were all recurring events.
Anyone have any ideas how I could delete these events? The only option I currently have is to choose the iPhone version or the MBP version (neither of which actually exists!).I think the answer you need is this:
You need to tell the "Synch" which 'direction' to copy from - i.e. from .Mac to that computer or from that computer to .Mac.
If, on either computer, you click 'system preferences' ( in the dock) and then .Mac and then Advanced you will see a button to 'reset synch options' and tell the machine to send what it has to .Mac or recall what .Mac has back to the machine.
I have a simpler problem - I want to start a new topic in this forum and can't find a button to do that!

Some iCal events disappear when in week view
Hello all,
I recently had a double agenda booking. Today I found out why:
In week view some iCal events disappear... When i switch to month view, they reappear.
So, depending on the view i have open time slots. Not very reliable.
Anyone know what i can do to return to solid bookings again?

FredSame problem here. I just imported everything from my old MacBook to my new one using Time Machine. My events appear in the Month view but not in the Week or Day views. So I went back to my old MacBook, created an iCal backup file, and emailed it to myself. Opened it on the new machine, restored from the backup file, and . . . same thing!
Very strange!! I need my daily events to be visible. Any help out there? -
I have Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" on my iTunes and on several playlists. When I play it via my computer it is the correct song .... but when I try to play in from my iPhone via the cloud it sounds like Mariah Cary singing some other song. I have tried removing the song from my lists and reinstalling in from my iTunes on the computer ... plays correctly on the computer, but not on my phone.

I have a small icon at the top right of my iphone 4G right to the left of the battery percent. What is this and how do I get rid of it? It looks like a lock with a circle 3/4 of the way around it
That icon indicates your iPhone is rotation locked.
To remove it, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. Tap the similar looking icon there to turn it off. -
Cannot sync iphone contacts to itunes to sync with address book

Why not move everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to the new one?

Subscription to Outlook thru webdav with some blank events
I convinced a colleague to publish its Windows Outlook 2010 calendar to a webdav site.
We are almost there. The events are there but some repetitive events are blank, let's say 1 over 12.
I can see a colored square with the right hours but nothing in it.
I looked at the .ics file and there is a "summary" for the title. So why iCal is not showing it ?
The same bug is in iCal for SnowLeopard and for Lion (2 different Macs).
I tried to import the event in BusyCal instead, but I have a "null" instead of the blank event.
I finally tried to import it in Google calendar and the event is there !
Any suggestion ?I have the same problem with the iTouch. What makes it even more frustrating is when I don't realize that this has happened and when I sync the next time the recurring events in Outlook get deleted because the iTouch doesn't show them.
The strange thing is that this does not happen to all of the recurring events. For me, it did not sync the recurring morning events, but the evening events did. Go figure!
Is there some setting I have to check? Is this an Outlook Add-On conflict?
Help on this one would be great. I am using Outlook 2002, iTunes 8, and Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Why have my contacts disappeared and been replaced with some Facebook friend names?
A few days ago, all of my contacts disappeared and were replaced by the names of SOME of my Facebook friends. None of these have any telephone contact information, it's all email addresses associated with those Facebook friends. For instance, my husband's name, emails and phone numbers were all deleted from my contacts - help!
Look under iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is there a backup listed for her phone? First thing done when you sync is an iPhone backup. If you have not synced since screwing her phone up, restoring from that backup(if it exists) should restore her content. Do not sync after you restore her phone, eject it. So, first disable auto-sync on that same device pane in iTunes before you proceed. If this doesn't work, is your sister bigger than you? If so, run 'cause her data is gone .

Saving iphone contact info prior to synching with mobileMe
I have contact info on my iphone that isn't stored anywhere else; It has just been transferred from one cell phone to another for several years. I also have other contact info on Google Contacts, and have synched the goog info to mobileMe. Is it possible to save/upload the iphone's contact info to MobileMe without having to manually re-enter all this info into goog or mobileme? I can't seem to find a way to do this after a great deal of research.

Contact form doesn't work with some email addresses
My contact form was working fine until a few weeks ago, now it won't work with the e-mail address I was using. I have tried different address some work some don't , what gives here.

My experience with Apple's earbuds is that they are pretty good. If you are having a problem with the Audio Technica headphones, you will want to contact them for assistance.
Full disclosure: I wear hearing aids and so I have to listen to audio via headphones or earbuds with the volume jacked up. -

Cannot retrieve IPhone contacts on car Bluetooth device
With iPhone connected to car Bluetooth I am unable to access phone contacts but can use phone
It depends on the make, model, year, and options on the car. I have used 2 iPhones (iPhone 4 & 5s) with 3 different cars. Two of the cars were able to access the iPhone contacts and one does not. Some research led me to the car manufacturer's website where they showed which phones and which features on those phones were supported. In the one case it clearly stated that they supported calling but not access to the contacts. You may want to either do some internet searching or reply with the car's make, model and year here.

- Your friends IMessage is not activated (you have to activiate it with your apple id)
