IPhone contacts won't sync

After downloading and syncing my iPhone with the 2.0.1, iTunes dumped my library and forced me to reload it. I then resynced my iPhone and got an error msg stating my contacts could not be synced due to an "error reading iPhone contacts." Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so, how did you fix it?
Thanks

C Butcher,
Have you tried replacing contact information on your iPhone? Granted to do this, you would want to manually add the iPhone-only contacts to your contact management software.
To replace contacts on the iPhone, just select "Contacts" within Advanced under the Info Tab in iTunes.
Hope this helps,
Raleigh

  • IPhone Contacts won't sync with iCloud

    Hi!
I have my Macbook Pro and iPhone 4S synced with iCloud, so everything I do in one device shows up in the other.
About 2 days ago I noticed my iPhone contacts were not syncing with iCloud. Calendars, Notes, etc. is syncing and the Macbook Pro is syncing as well. Only iPhone contacts are not (both ways).
Any ideas are welcome!! Thank you!!!

  • HT1495 iphone contacts won't sync to mac

contacts that i've added to my iphone won't sync to my mac.  i've got 'sync contacts' checked; i've backed up my phone to my mac.  what do i need to do to get them to sync, so i don't need to manually add them to my contacts list in my mac.

What does this have to do with iTunes for Windows?

  • IPhone contacts won't sync with Outlook

I am trying to sync my iPhone contacts with my Outlook contacts but they won't sync. In iTunes I checked "Sync Contacts with Outlook" but nothing happens.

Check your contacts in Outlook and make sure they belong to iCloud and not My Contacts or another account such as Gmail, Yahoo or Exchange.  Only iCloud contacts will sync with your devices.

  • Iphone contacts won't sync to mac

    Hi
Very new to mac but have searched for this; too many answers with too much variance so I have to ask myself, sorry.
I've had an iphone 4 for 2 years, always syncing contacts with outlook on my old PC. Everything worked fine until icloud; I then found that any new contacts weren't syncing to outlook, I'm assuming because the phone was only syncing to icloud?
No matter, decided not to worry as I wanted to buy a mac, having worked with them recently.
So my issue now is (very similar to before) that I can't sync my contacts from my iphone to my mac, again because it insists the phone is backing up to icloud. I tried this morning; it prompted me that the phone was 'on' icloud and therefore not syncing with mac etc; I checked the box to sync contacts, hit apply and merge in the hopes I could get my contacts from my phone onto the mac. Instead it's created another phone book on my iphone with just the three contacts that were on the mac?!
Now when I go to contacts on my iphone it has three groups: All contacts, all on my iphone and all icloud. The first and last have all my contacts in; the all on my iphone has zero. I know the transition to something new isn't always easy, but I'm now really confused.
The Mac is on Snow Leopard, and my understanding of browsing the forums is that only lion will work with icloud. I haven't bought any software yet, so I'm not concerned about compatibilty if I upgrade. I AM however concerned as to how icloud will work if I do upgrade?
Will it use the iMac or the iphone as the 'senior' device?
If it uses the mac will I lose all my contacts?
With cloud do I not need to backup my iphone?
What's the difference between backup, sync and icloud?
So many questions I know; really hope I'm not shot down in flames as my first time on here. Any advice about this appreciated.

iCloud is a second attempt at dealing with making data available among devices - MobileMe was the first and was limited to just a few things, contacts and calendar events. iCloud goes much further. It isn't easy to meld two or more databases. The first think to keep in mind is that iCloud holds the truth - that is the data that is pushed out everywhere else. If you log on to icloud.com you can see the addressbook and calendar that will be sent to all your devices. The devices' job is to send new data or edited data to the cloud.
With that in mind, I simply upgraded my computer from Snow Leopard to Lion - after turning my phone off. My thinking was that if disaster struck I could delete the computer calendar & addressbook database. Then I could log onto iCloud and make sure my calendar and addressbook was okay and then let the cloud fix the computer. And it true disaster struck I could delete everything in the cloud and turn the iPhone back on which would repopulate the cloud and then my computer.
What actually happened is that after I upgraded to Lion I wound up with an addressbook that had 'on my Mac' and 'on the cloud' which had the same stuff. I deleted the 'on my mac' stuff. My calendar, if I recall right, just had what I expected. I tested by making an event and fact contact on the phone - they appeared on my computer. Did the same on my computer - they appeared on my phone.
Why all the hub-bub over Lion? A couple things. First, there's always an outcry of Mac OS XYZ broke my computer! Not every upgrade goes smoothly. Do a search here for Kappy's upgrade advice, follow it, and your chances of a successful upgrade are pretty good. Second, we've had quite a few OS upgrades in the last 5 years that brought small changes and new services. Lion was different, it really shook things up and lots of people don't like it when their cheese is moved. Third, Lion isn't compatible with old software written before Apple switched to Intel processors and lots of people just don't read before they upgrade.
Should you upgrade? Since SL lost the ability to sync with iOS devices iCloud alone is worth the price of admission. The changes between OS versions always mean that developers stop supporting the older OS at some point and I suspect that Lion changes things enough that SL users are going to find less software being made for the OS pretty rapidly.

  • My iphone contacts won't sync on my home computer

I sync my iphone at work with the Macbook Pro I use at work. But when I get home, it won't sync with my home Macbook Pro.

And I just tried to sync calendars and that won't work either, same dialog box.  It appears nothing in the "info" section will cross over due to a "sync session in progress."

  • My iPhone contacts won't sync to exchange

    Hi guys,
I am trying to sync my iPhone contacts to Google contacts through exchange so that I can unify my contacts.
    I followed these directions:
    http://support.google.com/a/users/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740
But I don't see my contacts in Google contacts.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I had a situation where some contacts on my iPhone either did not appear on my Mac or had only some of the information. I discovered that these contacts were linked on the iPhone to accounts other than iCloud - in my case the Exchange contacts at work. Once the missing information was copied to the iCloud linked contact, the details appeared on my Mac. To have a look, open the contact on your iPhone and scroll to the very bottom. There you will see all the Linked Contacts. Make sure one of these is iCloud and that it contains all the information you want to show on your Mac.

  • IPhone contacts won't sync anymore

I'm having this issue where new contacts that I add on the iPhone are not added to the computer, even though in iTunes "Sync Address Book Contacts" is checked and "All Contacts" is checked under that section.
Does anyone know how to deal with this?
    Thanks

Did you already try to reset the sync history, more possible solutions described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1692
    Open iTunes.
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Devices tab.
Click the Reset Sync History button.

  • Iphone contacts won't sync with outlook 2007

    Hi,
Been banging my head against this for the last few hours and haven't found an answer in any searches of past posts,
I have it set up in itunes to sync with outloo, but when i load outlook up theres nothing there in the contacts.
Any help would be great thanks

    Check to make sure the Outlook plugins are installed and active;
    Start Outlook >
    Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins
    You'll need to see 2 add-ins; :
"iTunes Outlook Addin" and "Microsoft Outlook Mobile Service", both under the Active Applications Addin heading.
If either is missing, then do a repair install of Microsoft Outlook/Office and/or a repair install of iTunes. To do the former, go to Programs (and Features) in the control panel, find Office/Outlook, highlight it and then click on change at the top. You may need the original install CD and you will need to restart your PC. You will NOT lose any data or settings with a repair install. iTunes is the same procedure, except you click on Repair, rather than change.
    Good Luck!

  • HT1386 my contacts won´t sync, it says that calendars and contacts will be synced over iclouds, but it isn´t. I can´t get my contacts on my iphone

My contacts won´t sync to the iphone. In itunes there is not even a check I can make to the contacts for syncing it says they should sync over icloud, but they won´t

Are you syncing your Mac Address Book contacts over the air with your iCloud account which is selected with your iCloud account settings on your Mac? You need to do that first followed by logging in with your iCloud account via webmail access using a browser to confirm your Mac Address Book contacts are available in your iCloud online address book.

Got it to work last time around, but things (espacialy with Nokia) change.
Can somebody, Please,  give me the page with the CORRECT instructrons? for the e7-00 and the N8?
I am very tired of clicking pages wich do not contain the anwsers.
Meanwhile, my friends and colleagues laugh at me, with their smasung's, HTC 's, LG 's, and iPhone's.
Which all sync (nearly) hassle-free with all they want.
    Help

    Hi Gucky66,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
Please reset and update the phone to fix any software issues you're experiencing on both your E7 and N8.
Connect your phone to Nokia Suite and create a back up via Tools > Back up.
Now disconnect the phone from Nokia Suite and enter *#7370# and default security code 12345 into your phone. Once the phone has rebooted, please reconnect with Nokia Suite and click on the green arrow icon where you will be able to update the phone to it's latest software version. If no update is listed, please reinstall the current software. This option is displayed in blue.
When the updated has completed, please restore the back up via Restore > Back up.
You should now have a fully working phone. If you're still experiencing difficulties with your Email account, please delete the account and reconfigure, you can do this via Menu > Mail > Select the email account > Long press > Delete mailbox.
If the above doesn't work, please contact your local Care line where they will be able to look at your previous repairs and look for a solution.
Please get back to me if you manage to resolve the issue, otherwise I can provide further support.

  • New Iphone 4s won't sync, can't get past 'syncing calendars step 2 of 6'???

New Iphone 4s won't sync off my computer, can't get past 'syncing calendars step 2 of 6'.  Got 1/3 of old apps, and contacts, but a 2/3 of my old apps are on the computer....  not real computer savvy, any suggestions?

no no a hard reset is just something you do to the phone, you wont lose any data or anything else its litterally like starting your phone on a fresh slate running wise but you wont lose anything at all, all your apps settings etc will still be right as you left it. think of it as a step above turning it off and on again

  • My iphone 4s won't sync.  I'm getting error 50.  Does anyone know about how to fix this?

my iphone 4s won't sync.  Get error message -50.  Any ideas?

    From http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694:
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • IPhone 4 won't sync to iTunes on iMac

Recently my iPhone 4 won't sync with iTunes on my iMac. When I connect my iPhone iTunes recognizes it and I'm able to click the sync button. It goes the the sync steps, but at the end it says it can't sync becasue my iPhone is not connected to iTunes even though it is.
My iPhone, iMac and iTunes have the latest software updates.  I'm running OS X 10.6.8.
I've tried rebooting both my iPhone and iMac, but it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm only asking this because I just got my phone unlocked, and the service provider suggested that I restore my iPhone by syncing it with Itunes.......but maybe I don't have to restore my phone?  Anyone with advice/suggestions?

  • My iPhone 5 won't sync with the Nike Plus sensor

My iPhone 5 won't sync with Ike Plus sensor, new or old.

    Hello bfelix,
You may need to switch 'Nike + iPod' off in your Settings, then re-enabling it. Make sure that the sensor is not in sleep mode (which can be corrected by pressing the small button on the side opposite the Nike and Apple logos). Depending on the age of the sensor, however, the battery may be depleted.
Make sure you have the latest version of... iPhone... software and iTunes installed.
Make sure the sensor is not in sleep mode by using a pen or stylus to press the Sleep/Wake button on your sensor once to wake it up.
On your home screen, tap Settings.
Scroll down and tap the Nike + iPod option.
Disable the Nike + iPod feature and then re-enable it by tapping the On/Off button at the top of the page.
Place the sensor back in the shoe and walk around to activate the sensor as you attempt to relink it to your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS.
If the issue persists and you have access to another sensor, link the new sensor to your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS. If you can link the new sensor to your iPod touch or iPhone, take in your first sensor for service.
Nike + iPod: Sensor not recognized by receiver, iPod touch (2nd generation), or iPhone 3GS

Nike + iPod: About the sensor battery
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1400
The Nike + iPod Sensor's battery is not replaceable or rechargeable and has a life of over a thousand active hours. The sensor has a sophisticated built-in power-management system, allowing the sensor to consume power only when active (that is, when it senses motion).
