Iphone corrupt photos unknown format

I took some photos at an event and cannot import them into iPhoto - unknown file type.  I also tried emailing them to myself and no file shows up with the email. Also the photos are still there on my camera roll but are not in focus - they were in focus and clear when I first took them. Any idea on why this would happen on an iPhone 4s. The photos I am taking now are fine and importing properly.

Anyone?

  • IPhone photo default format

Does anyone know how to make the iPhone default photo size 2 x 3 so you don't have to crop every photo before printing as 10cm x 15cm (normal print size on snapchat)? I find it very odd that the iPhone default sizing is different to the crop format in iPhoto that is called "2 x 3 (iPhone)". Am I missing something??

    Have you tried this app?

I personally have not tried it but it looks like what you are looking for.

Emailed photos from iPhone using ios7 being formatted to bmp. How can I change to jpg?

I just solved this issue! Here's the solution in case anyone else is experiencing the same problem: I had him link his phone number to his Apple ID by adding his his phone number to his contact in his Contacts List. After that, messages sent to his phone number are blue.
I'm guessing his phone number was disconnected from his Apple ID when he somehow toggled off iMessage.

    What version of iPhoto?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • Unable to open .eps file "unknown format and cannot be opened" ?

A client sent me an .eps file (logo). I tried opening it in Illustrator AND photoshop (just to see if it was saved in one vs the other program) - however to no avail.
Illustrator gives me a message "unknown format and cannot be opened"
Photoshop gives me a message "photoshop was unable to parse the postscript".
I'm using Adobe CS4, and I've never seen this message before—would love to know what this means and how to resolve?
File attached if anyone is able to open / fix it?
    Thanks kindly,
    Chemol

Thanks for the advice Scott - does compression improve the .eps?  Is it
silly for me to ask them to compress it since the file is only 766 KB
(that's how big the attachment is in my email - though I am unable to open
    it)?
My friend is able to open it on his end - however the 3rd person (client) is
the one who sent it, and I have already requested a different version - no
response from them yet.  Unfortunately what the company "has" is what he
will likely give to me again (ie: same file / unable to open).  So ... I am
curious about how I can resolve this issue on my end - if possible?
Do you know what the AI and Photoshop error messages mean? Could the issue
be a mac vs PC concern? Or is it a corrupt file? Could it be a software
version issue (old vs new) ... or Quark incompatibility?
.... just guessing at this point....Any insight as to what different
scenarios may apply in this situation would be greatly appreciated ..thank
    you.

  • ITunes could not copy "Song Name" to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (-50)

Recently when I tried syching one of my playlists into my iPhone 4 (Running on 5.1) using iTunes 11.2.0.26 for Windows (Windows XP SP3), I have been having a problem with some songs I acquired recently.  It will sync all the other songs, but when it reaches the song in question, the following error message pops up:
"iTunes could not copy "Name of Song" to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (-50)"
After which, it stops synching songs altogether.
I tried TWO different USB connectors (BOTH from Apple), and the error still occurs.  When I remove the song in question, ALL songs sync normally.
I used the 'Get Info' option to see if there was something in the way the song was coded.  This info is from one of the songs that gets synched normally:
    Kind:                  MPEG Audio file
    Size:                  11 MB
    Bit Rate:            256 kbps
    Sample Rate:     44.100 kHz

    Channels:          Stereo
    ID3 Tag:            v2.3
    Encoded with:   LAME
THIS is the info on the problematic song:
    Kind:                  MPEG Audio file
    Size:                  8.2 MB
    Bit Rate:            256 kbps
    Sample Rate:     44.100 kHz

    Format:             MPEG-1, Layer 3
    Channels:          Joint Stereo
    ID3 Tag:            v2.3
    Encoded with:   LAME3.96
By the way, BOTH song (The ones synching normally, and this unsynching song), where purchased and downloaded from Amazon.com.
ANY information that will help me solved this problem will be VERY appreciated.  Likewise, if you need any additional information, please let me know...

  • "E:\filename.ai" is in an unknown format and cannot be opened"

My computer crashed. I just re-installed Adobe Illustrator 10.03. Now some of my ".ai" files show funny looking icons and won't open and instead a pop-up that says "E:\filename.ai" is an unknown format and cannot be opened". Some of my documents are just fine. But there are several Illustrator docs in various spots on my hard drive that are giving me this error.
Any suggetions on how to get these files to open up?

    OK. Now we're getting somewhere.
Without knowing more about the precise nature and cause of the "crash," we can only make guesses, and here's mine:
    Basically, Katie, you're screwed.
My guess is that either the "crash" and/or your boss's subsequent handling of the D: drive (which might have been entirely proper) has caused data corruption on that drive.
If you have no backup for the files on the drive, and if those files are of critical importance, I would disconnect the drive immediately and get it to a data recovery specialist. The longer you have it connected, the more you reduce the chance of recovering data.
If the data are somewhat less than critical, you can try some basic recovery steps yourself. Start by making an image backup of the drive (to an external drive or removable media), then run chkdsk on it with the /r option. Rename any recovered files (with the .ai extension), and try opening them.
Finally, you might send the .ai files that won't open to a specialist who knows the Illustrator file format. He/she might be able to make some partial fixes that will, at least, enable you to open the files.
If you want, upload a few of the files to a server and post the link here. Some of the experts here might have a crack at it. (Put the files in a .zip archive first to protect them against further corruption during transfer.)

  • What I view the dbx files are of unknown format from TEMP directory?

When you start Outlook Express DBX file to create a push, but after the program can not find it. There is a configuration change that? In the TEMP folder found files, but they are of unknown format, what I view the dbx files?

The user of the DBX Viewer Tool can recover mail messages from *.dbx files in the batch mode. If you recover messages in the Batch mode, messages are extracted from *.dbx files one by one and immediately saved to the hard drive. Batch message recovery can be
used to recover correspondence from a large number of corrupted *.dbx files simultaneously.

  • Some iPhone 4S photos imported via Photo Stream are black

I'm seeing a whole bunch of iPhone 4S photos imported via Photo Stream as black images in latest iPhoto '11.  When I look at the original file in finder, it is intact, however the modified one is just a black image (which is what shows up in iPhoto).
This is very concerning.  I'm now manually re-importing all my 4S photos.
Strangely, the same photos that appear black in iPhoto Photo Stream are fine on my iPad and iPhone Photo Stream view.
So it seems that iPhoto is breaking them when it imports them.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • HELP!!! "unknown format cannot open"...BUT it's a Illustrator CS3 file?????

I spent several hours designing a file in CS3. I went to "Save as Web & Devices" and my MAC froze and I had to reboot. I now cannot open the illustrator file without getting the "file is an unknown format and cannot be opened" error. I have tried dropping the file in Distiller, placing in InDesign and trying to place into a blank illustrator file with no luck. I have even tried to open the file in Photoshop file. All attempts say the file is unknown. Did the crash corrupt the illustrator file? If so, is there a way to recover. I pray there is!! I do not want to redesign this project again!!! HELP!!

The ! shows up because the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window has lost the connection to the file it represents. There are two main reasons why this occurs: database coruption and/or User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder - in this case your Party Library.
    1. Hold down the abbpe and option keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild the database.
    2. Have you renamed, altered or moved anything in the Party Library Folder?
As for the mulitple versions of photos: Your Party Library (or any Library) is arranged as follows:
In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command - very useful if you don't like the changes you've made.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
So each version of the Image has a distinct role to play. To distinguish them in a Spotlight search, use file size - the tiny ones are your thumbnails etc.
Your Camera names the files. Some Cameras have a setting which allows them to sequentially number across cards. You can also use titling in the iPhoto Window to distinguish them (Photos -> Batch Change) and some people copy the pics onto their machines first, rename them with a batch renamer and then import them into iPhoto.
The book is simply a virtual album of photos and is part of the library6.iPhoto file.
As to your plan of moving and patching things up... It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss. SO try rebuild the database first.
    Regards

  • Everytime i try to sync my photos, "Unknown Error -36" always pops up

    Help!
I followed the exact instuctions on transferring photos to my ipod nano, and everytime i do, an error always pops up and the message says "Unknown Error -36"
    Please help!q
      Windows XP

    hi vicha!
good gracious. do you have an itunes version 4.9 or lower? with higher versions, instead of getting a -36, folks tend to get a "the disk cannot be read from or written to" error message instead.
this article contains the standard techniques for dealing with a (-36), even though it doesn't mention the (-36) error code anymore. fairly early on in proceedings i'd check on the possibility of a corrupt photo cache (especially if music and other files are syncing fine at the moment):
"Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod

  • I am having some really weird problems with my Iphone with photos and music!

I am having some really strange problems with my Iphone with photos and music. In my photos icon I have a bunch of albums but the pictures are all synced to the wrong albums. The pictures are just all mixed up and in the wrong albums. As far as my music problem. In my playlists for my music I am trying to rearrange my songs in a particular order of listening. It lets me do it but when I hit done it randomely changes them in puts them in all different orders. Can anyone help?

This indicates a corrupt file(s).  A restore should resolve.

  • Why I cannot sync my iphone 4s photo to iCloud

    Dear All,
    Please help me?
Why I cannot sync my iPhone 4S photos albums (camera roll) to iCloud?
    Tq

You cannot go back because Apple has never provided a mechanism for downgrading any version of iOS to an earlier version. As roaminggnome suggested, try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try restoring from a backup and that doesn't fix the problem, try restoring to factory settings and, if the problem goes away, then synching your apps. You'll lose the app data and settings, but if the problem is due to a corrupt cache or settings file, that should cure it.
If none of that helps, your iPhone may have developed a hardware fault and will need to be take or sent to Apple.
    Regards.

Itunes wont let my iphone restore, an unknown error occured (2003). I only pressed restore button.

    Hey there Palmer
    How are you?
Well, I have an iPod Classic, it gave me the error -1436 error and would not restore on iTunes.
    I did the following:
My Boss (@work) has a fairly old iBook but it has OS-X, so I decided to give it a try and connected my iPod to it.
The system showed a window telling me that the disk is not MAC formated and needs to be validated prior further action. Snce it is a Mac product, I thought "yeah, go ahead".
It then opens the disk manager utility for the Mac and showed the disk. It's window has some tabs, one is to verify the disk, so I verified it. Guess what, it had some invalid clusters.
Then I formatted the iPod to OS-X Plus file system (next tab to the right). After formating the iPod, I "ejected" the iPod and reconnected to my PC. The Windows iTunes found an iPod with Mac file system and asked me to restore it. As I clicked on the "restore" button, I crossed my fingers as this was the last resource I have.
Finally, after the file extraction was done, it began to restore the iPod!!
I'm so happy about being able to restore the iPod that I decided to share with all you guys this solution as it is the most usefull, in my opinion.
Hope you can find someone with an iBook or a desktop Mac, so you can fix yours.
If it works for you, make sure to share the tip!!
    Kind regards
    Salvador Rivera
