Iphone could not be restored error?
Trying to do routine update on my iPhone 4. Then was prompted to restore my phone to original settings. Went through 3 hours of that, then an error occured saying unable to restore the phone. Now, I can't do anything with my phone. Tried disconnecting from iTunes and restarting both my phone and mac book pro. No luck. Tried to get help on the apple support website, but the only options were to speak to somoeone over the phone- which can't happen right now since it's not working right now. Freaked out and phone less.

This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. I updating ios6 but i can't itunes shown Iphone could not be restored error (1604) and i can't open the device.
It also happened to me. What I did was to put my USB connector at the back of my PC (the main USB port) then I open my iTunes again and Viola, it solves my problem.

I tried to upgrade t0 iOS7 on my iphone4s via USB itunes connection. It finished downloading and then error box came up saying "iphone could not be updated
'. then the phone was stuck on apple logo and i reset the phone and now its in recovery mode. itunes tell me to restore my phone but error box keeps on popping up with "iphone could not be restored error 27". tried everything...reinstalled itunes, disabled firewall/security and nothing's working =((((

Ipad 3 wifi a1314 here failed while upgrading to ios 7 over wifi. After that, it is stucked on recovery mode. Itunes is latest 11.1.3 and firewall my pc is off, antivirus off and I keep on getting error 27

*thankss*Error 23 is generally a hardware failure. If under warranty, make an appointment at an Apple store or contact whoever handles warranty & support where you live. If out of warranty, google third party repair shops in your area. You will not be able to restore with a hardware failure. To confirm, try restoring on a known good computer, if you get the same error message, you have a hardware failure.

Iphone could not be restored error 1669
Instead of my network provider, my iPhone displays 'Searching...'. I tried to reset through my iTunes and my phone but could not due to Find My iPhone, so I went onto Find My iPhone on my computer and erased my phone thinking it would be like a factory reset. I have tried restoring the device but everytime I try I get Error 1669 and the restoration crashes on 'Restoring iPhone's Firmware' I was just wondering what I could do to get the phone back to before I erased it. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Error 1669 can be similar to error 1. Try the troubleshooting steps for error one as outlined below.
Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm yoursecurity software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020.

i have an ATT sim card in the phone, then i get this error message, Error 1015I got the same error as well, and what people say to me is that error 1015 is most likely caused when you have your phone hacked/unlocked unauthorized in other words like jail breaking or trying to downgrade or upgrade with means OTHER THAN or not through upgrading through itunes or however appple authorized procedure

My brother gave me his old iphone when the touch screen went out on mine. It's in great shape but when I received it, it says that it needs to be connected to itunes to be restored. I have done this and it goes through the whole process then says iphone "iphone" could not be restored. unknown error code (-1). There is not a -1 code on the list and I have tried most of the suggestions.
Does my sim card need to be in when I am doing this? And any other suggestions?I did put it in DFU mode but its still not working, although everytime it shows your iphone needs to be restored. Kindly help.

i have an apple 3g, tried to upgrade it to a 4.2 version, (previously it was 4.1). it wasnt successful, the computer asked us to restore it to the version which was last operational, and while restoring an error message appeared "the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured
"This error is caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple."

Plug your iPhone into iTunes and update it to the latest supported version, which is 4.2.1.

I had a problem with my iPhone 5 connecting to my service provider (verizon) and also to the internet just minutes after I had used the internet to browse before work this morning. I tried soft reset, hard reset, and connecting to my computer, but nothing worked to get it back to normal. I decided to do a system wipe and restore it as well, but I get that error: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error has occured (3)." I googled that and searched for literally 7 hours without any luck. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!
This has just happened to me today. I have an iphone 5 on Verizon. I was using the internet on the device normally when it started. It couldn't access any online data even though it had 4 bars of service and LTE. I restarted it and it would be stuck "Searching for network". I tried wiping the phone with no luck. It gets stuck at around 99% of the firmware restore process and hangs there for about 25 minutes before itunes gives me the error described above. I tried the recover-mode restore with the same results.
I need a working phone ASAP, this is extremely frustrating! -

While upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.2 something went wrong and came up with the message "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred [1015]." Now it will not start at all. It just stays on screen with USB and the iTune picture. What can I do to get it going again. I only tried to upgrade because I was prompted to up-grade and now I am helpless. I did a backup before starting the upgrade. The error message did not tell what to do next. Any help is very much appreciated.
Usually that means the iPhone was hacked to unlock it from the original
carrier .
Updating the operating system locks it back to that original carrier

Please help. I simply connected my iPhone 4s to my Dell laptop (Win 8) which connected to iTunes automatically (which it normally does) and was told that I needed to update my software (I believe for both iPhone OS and iTunes). I tried to update and now my iPhone won't work at all. I just keep going in circles trying to restore and recover and I keep getting the error message: The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (14). All I see on my iPhone 4s screen is a cable connector, a little up arrow, and an iTunes symbol--and nothing else works.

To make things wors yesterday iphone was stoped i shutdown it and when i try to turn On the apple appears for a 30 sec then disappear... and again apple appears and for 30 sec disappear...So to fix this problem i need to do restore but i cant becouse i get the error.
