IPhone Crashed-Says Restore Needed-Can't Enter Password to Restore!
Earlier today while using my iPhone with Telenav, it suddenly just quit working! It felt hot and wouldn't come back on for a few mins. When it did come back on, it said Restore needed. However, when I connect iPhone to computer, iTunes cannot connect because of password!!! iPhone will NOT allow me to enter password! Shows iTunes or iPod Screen on phone and will only allow me to make emergency call! This phone is my life!!! My whole life is INSIDE this one! Calendar, numbers, documents etc!!!! I feel lost! How can I restore when I cannot enter password to connect?? HELP PLEASE!! It is the first of the 3GS phones and have NEVER had a minutes problem until now and it is nearl 4 years old I think! Has 32GB.
Thanks - I tried that just now. Didn't work. The passcode prevents the phone from being accessed. I have no idea what the guy used when he did it before but it was like magic.. there was a green button, he clicked it, the password screen went away and the iPhone home screen just popped up like nothing - I wish I could figure this out. If this program could override the password it would be absolutely perfect. Any other suggestions?

It should have backed up automatically at the start of the update process. And you should be saving photos from your phone to your computer regularly, just like you would with any digital camera. If you were not doing this you MAY lose the photos, but if your backup at the start of the update was successful you will not. Just DO NOT sync after the update, until you have restore the backup and verified that it is OK.
What error message did you get during the update? Before you restore do the following:
Reboot your computer
Connect to a USB port on the computer directly, not a hub
disable your antivirus and firewall
Launch iTunes
Finally, connect the phone and restore. -
My ipods disabled and it needs to connect to itunes. During the restore a window pops up and says i need to type the password into my ipod but i can't. what do i do?

Hold down the power button and home button at the same time until the phone powers on, shuts back off, powers on again and continue to hold it until it shows the itunes logo to plug in to itunes. This should allow you to restore without unlocking it.

Help!The passcode is needed only when you try to restore unsing a computer the phone never synced with before. Restore using the computer you sync with.
Questions: Why don't you know your own passcode, and why don't you have possetion of the computer the phone syncs with? -
I have updated to itunes 10.5 on my Mac computer and now it doesn't recognize my iphones and says i need to install a device driver but when i try to install it it throws up a notification saying an error occured and to contact the makers of my device 's suppot website. Anyone know?
Have you tried repairing your application from within the Control Panel?

I got a blacklisted iphone 5 from att and I reset it and now when I try to set it up it needs a sim card so I went to the att store and they put a sim in and on the iPhone it says replacement needed couldn't complete activation.i just want use it as a ipod
To use it as an iPod it must be activated...to do that it has to accept a sim. A blacklisted iPhone cannot do that. Take it back to AT and T where you got it and get your money back.

Place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore via iTunes on your computer. Recovery mode bypasses the passcode (and erases the iPod). For recovery mode see:

I'm trying to enable my disabled ipad mini. When it connects to itunes and click on restore, it begins. Then, less than half way through process it says I need to enter my passcode on the device to continue. I can't get on my device to do so. What do I do?
Read the steps in the article you linked to these forums, it has the steps you need to take to restore the iPad in recovery mode.

Hi guys,
this morning my Iphone 4 came up with a message on the screen saying it needed to be restored, i thought it was strange so i rebooted my phone.
Then it just went to the 'connect to itunes' screen like it was a new phone.
I attempted to restore and failed a couple times, finally it seems to have worked but wont activate?
any ideas would be great!

Unless the app is only for the iPhone then you can have it on the iPad, you can update it to iOS 5+
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (you may also want to copy photos off the iPad as well) and then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'. You may also want to copy off the iPad any important documents, notes, files etc e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case.
You can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button.

I have had this phone for months and I'm in love with it - I've never had a problem. But, the last few days it's been super glitchy and yesterday a message popped up telling me that I could not recieve any incoming calls or make any outgoing calls. I can't text either, but occasionally I get a text from someone. Not often. But it's happened twice. It tells me to connect with iTunes to restore, and I do - but the phone keeps turning on and off and when I'm attempting to restore it, it turns off and iTunes pops up with a message saying 'device not recognized' sometimes it says something about try a different disk, sometimes it says the device can not be found. I don't know what to do, I obviously can't call and talk to Apple Support, I'm screwed at the moment! Any help at all would be greatly appreciated AND I am not very tech saavy so please be patient if you try to help and it doesn't click

It's not obvious at all. If you mean you can't call from your phone, call from another one. Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. -

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've been experiencing with your iPhone. I'd like you to follow the steps below to help resolve the issue:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

Why is my year old iphone 4s saying I need to activate it again?
My Iphone all of a sudden one day shuts off and when I turned it back on it says I need to activate it again and when I try to it won't let me.
It says the activation server is temporary unavailable and I can't avtivate with my cellular network, wifi or via itunes.
