Iphone crashing and deleting firmware

my iphone has now crashed for the second time.
it say to connect to itunes and i have to recover it, (second time)
i have reset it and now my iphone 3gs keeps restarting itself
and i have to recover it again
and i have no service
and no wifi
pls help!!!!

I am not sure that you should be subjected to the Freezing and Crashing on a continued basis as you describe.
As I have said before, Resetting and Restoring merely bypasses the fact that you are not fixing the problem but in fact putting a Band Aid on a mortal wound. These freezes are associated with a malfunction in the iPhone, whether it be software or hardware, it is a iPhone problem.
You should get down to the Apple Store and tell them what is happening and either get a replacement or assistance in helping you get your iPhone sent to Applecare.
I would not wait.

  • Why is my Firefox 4.0.1 crashing and deleting my browsing history and bookmarks?

This is the third time in the past month and a half that my Firefox 4.0.1 has crashed and deleted both my browsing history and my recent bookmarks. It seems to delete up to about a week's worth of information.
In the past, my Firefox browser would crash, but it would at least retain my last entered information (but that was the older version of Firefox); so this is something entirely new. I updated to 4.0.1 about two months ago, hoping that this would be better, but these random, information deleting, crashes are driving me crazy! I'm hesitant to download the new 5.0 version for the fear that these crashes will get worse...but mainly because I love Hypertext too much and I don't want to lose it to the upgrade.
I had read that one of the options to identifying the problem is to post a crash I.D.; however, when I searched for my latest crash reports, it doesn't show either of the two crashes that concerns me. So I'm even more curious to what this problem might be. I can tell you some of the key behaviors before it crashes:
    * It begins to lag (slower than snail pace).
    * It's almost impossible to click from one tab to the other (even if I only have two tabs open).
    * My comp's physical memory spikes.
    * The browser window will sometimes freeze and shut down the whole program, but this time (today), the window closed on its own.
    * When I'm forced to close Firefox from my Task Manager, sometimes I actually have to restart my computer before I'm able to use the browser again.
    * The crash happens randomly. I haven't noticed a crash pattern based on websites that I visit.
I hope someone can help me. I would really like this remedied. It just sucks having spent so much time bookmarking research material, just to have all of it wiped away without a reason.

Try to update to the latest Firefox 12.0 version.
You can find the latest Firefox release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
    *Firefox 12.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/gfx.color_management.mode
    * https://developer.mozilla.org/En/ICC_color_correction_in_Firefox
Caveats: The new QCMS color management system introduced in Firefox 3.5 currently only supports ICC version 2 color profiles, not version 4.
You can set the gfx.color_management.enablev4 pref to true on the about:config page and close and restart Firefox to enable ICC V4 support in Firefox 8+, but that feature is not yet fully implemented, so there may be problems in some cases.

i had the "find my iphone" app and deleted it and then my ipod was stolen. can my ipod still be located ?

Apple will not track it for you unless with Find my iPod. Again, whether you have the app or not doesn't matter, I believe you still had the service enabled. It doesn't hurt to try. http://icloud.com, click Find my iPhone after you sign in.

  • Iphone Crashing and Freezing

Hi! I'm mostly looking to see if I have a lemon or if others are experiencing the same problems I have been having with my iphone. My iphone crashes and freezes several times daily. I have to reboot at least once a day, and often more than that. I've already sent the iphone to apple for repairs, and it came back with the exact same issue. I could live with the $200 dollar decrease in cost, but for that extra 200 dollars, I would love an iphone that is reliable!
Most of the other users I've seen here seem to be experiencing only intermittent crashing, and specifically of utilities...they usually find themselves back in the start screen. My phone is freezing...literally no brain activity. Please let me know if you have the same problems.

I am not sure that you should be subjected to the Freezing and Crashing on a continued basis as you describe.

Have you tried a restore as new?

My old computer crashed and deleted my iTunes media file with all my playlist. However, my iPod has the playlist I lost on the computer. How can I replace (reverse synch?) my iPod media information back onto my (now reinstalled) virgin iTunes media folder?

Yes it's possible to sync music back from a iPod back into iTunes that (I assume) wasn't purchased on the iTunes Store.
Apple allows iTunes Store purchases on devices to be reversed back into iTunes, just not cd rips and stuff like that. For that it's a one way trip to the device from iTunes.
I likely can't suggest such software here, but if you visit iLounge you can ask what is the latest software that works for your platform.
Really it only takes a mere few minutes to backup your iTunes Library and stick in a few cd/dvd's or a external drive. iTunes even has a menu command for it to make it oh so simple. Please use it and backup all your data.
Hard drives fail, computers burn up, thieves steal, stuff gets forgotten. Plan for something happening because it will.
    Good Luck

  • Random iPhone crashes and reboot loop after iOS 7 upgrade

    Hi all
Since I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 7, I suffer from random crashes/resets, where my iPhone reboots and enters a reboot loop (Apple logo, black screen, reboot, Apple logo, black screen, reboot, etc) that I can only exit by restoring the device (resetting doesn't help).
    Some more information
    a) The device: iPhone 4, 32 GB, has never been jailbroken, and has never shown any similar issues before.
    b) The crashes/reboots: I haven't been able yet to find a pattern when and why they happen. I had reboots when searching for an app, when pluging in the wall charger, when entering the access code, and even when doing nothing at all (iPhone in my pocket). The only constant is the reboot loop after the crash.
    c) What I tried so far: I restored the device several times, using normal restore (with the iTunes logo) and DFU mode (black screen). After that, I recovered from a recent backup (takes some hours), and everything is ok again - for some hours, until the next crash and reboot loop. I also set up the device as a new phone, and there it seems stable, so I exclude a hardware issue. I tried quite a few of the advices that I found when googling for reboot loops: reset all settings (this led to an another immediate crash and reboot loop), disable app background refresh, etc.
I've been using this device for my daily business. With the current instability (and the couple of hours it takes to bring it back to life again), it became more or less useless. I wish I could downgrade again (I know that I can't). My assumption is that either iOS 7, or some incompatible app or some corrupt setting is causing this situation. But I don't know how to proceed to isolate and eliminate the issue. I really would like to avoid setting up everything from scratch again.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    All,
First of all, sorry for my half-finished post above. While typing, I was interrupted, and by reflex I hit CMD-S. Unfortunately, the stupid interface of Apple's support website interpreted that as a submit command. I tried to complete my text with the update function, but when finally hitting the submit button, I got an error message, and all my updated text was gone... No way to bring it back, and also no way to delete the half-baked posting. Quite frustrating.
Now, to complete what I started above:
In my case, the problem definitely had something to do with the springboard process (an iOS system 'app' that manages the iOS homescreens) and the watchdog process (another iOS system 'app' that monitors certain things on your phone and that can initiate a restart when it thinks the phone is frozen). In the folder '/Users/<your account>/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<your phone>' I could see what caused my crashes; they were all 'stack+SpringBoard' and the reason in these crash log files was 'Watchdog timeout'.
The following two forum posts helped me:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1676330?start=30&tstart=0
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20794982#20794982
I'm quite sure that my issues had to do with the 'application map' that is mentioned in the above posts. So far, Ive been thinking that it was just too large (as in the case of Andi1996 [second link above]), but jmbladen's observation seems not to support this. So, the absolute number might not the source of the problem, but I still assume that something went wrong with my application map during the upgrade from iOS6 to iOS7. I remember having stability problems before, as soon as all my 10 home screens were full of apps and newly downloaded apps would generate additional pages (only visible via iTunes). Considering that there are some fundamental changes to how we can organize apps within folders in iOS 7, it can well be that the springboard process just wasn't able to cope with my application map correctly within the 120 seconds before the watchdog process restarts the phone. My massive cleanup action must have fixed this somehow.
@jmbladen: I'm only using iCloud for the 'find my phone' functionality, so all the backup & recovery was done via iTunes from my local harddisk. And there was no temporal pattern for my crashes before. You might suffer from the same symptoms, but probably not because of the same cause.
My advice for anyone affected by random crashes and a reboot loop is to check out the directory with the CrashReporter logs mentioned above to find out what app or process causes the crash. If it's the springboard and watchdog problem, then you should try to clean up your home screens (from iTunes). Maybe the absolute number of apps is not that important, but make sure that you reduce the number of screens. And then sync and backup before you start using the phone again. In my case it helped.
Hope this helps someone else too.
P.S. Once you know the right keywords to search for, you find forum postings back to 2008 / iOS 2 describing exactly the same problem. This reboot loop is a very nasty issue, and it is hard to understand that Apple still hasn't been able to address this, or at least provide some better help on how to get out of it again.

  • Iphone4 crashed and deleted all apps

i have a 2 month old iphone 4 with the latest software update. last night i installed the app "Canon Cadets", during the install it crashed/rebooted the phone, when it rebooted, all my apps (apart from the default iphone apps) were deleted. i tried rebooting the phone a few times and they did not reappear.
i hadnt sync'd it with itunes before the crash.
i tried syncing it today and of course it couldnt retrieve my lost apps. but it was saying in itunes that i have 2.6GB of "other" data space taken up (so i reckon all my apps and saved data is still in the phone, but not showing up)
i have installed many many apps before and never had this happen.
today i tried to install a paid app, and luckily the itunes store remembered i had previously bought it, so it let me download it again for free. i then spent a while remembering all my paid apps and installed them all again for free.
now i have all the apps again, but it has lost all my gamesave data from everything, although the BSkyB app had remembered my account details when i reinstalled it!
i am a bit annoyed that i lost all my angry birds gamesaves, i had 3 stars on all levels and all golden eggs.
also itunes is now showing that i have 3.61GB of "other" data on the phone (i.e. apps) but i know i have only 1GB worth on the phone - so there is 2.6GB of app data still on the phone somewhere but its not showing it (and it means i now have 2.6GB of wasted space thats gone into oblivion)
is there any way of retrieving the lost gamesaves, and clearing off this 2.6GB of wasted space?
the phone is on a UK vodafone contract and only 2 months old.

Same here and it is ******* me off. I was in the middle of playing we farm and then it crashed and when it showed me my home screen I noticed all my apps were gone. Here I am trying to figure out what the **** happened so I rebooted and turned the phone off but nothing.
I then synced it iTunes and only one app was reinstalled but the rest remained "hidden."
As you mentioned, I also see that I have 4.1GB of other data on my phone and know that it is the missing apps. Problem is how do I get it all back?
Using phoneDisk, I went into the iphone's root folders and tried to locate these apps. I found them and notice that all but one was marked with a censored image or an error image. Tried to open them but my mac could not, it opened the native and one app just fine (using xcode and iPhone dev kit) but rest were treated as foreign extensions.
I have many backups since I like to have at least monthly backups but I am still concerned with the "other space." If I were to use an old back up to restore my phone would the space taken by other still remain?
This is a first in my 2 iphones I ever owned, lost lots of data and I don't know what directly caused it.

  • IPhone crashes and not turning back on

    Hi to all of you.
First I wanna apoligize if I'm posting this in the wrong discution board, I am new here
So, here's my problem. I have an iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.0.1.  I got the phone last summer, with iOS 3 point something, and I updated it to it's current iOS. I also unlocked it and jailbroke it, because that was the only way i could use it here in Macedonia.
Anyway, the phone worked perfectly for like a year until a while ago when it started crashing and not turning back on.
For example, I'm leaving the phone to charge trough the night(as usual), then I'm using it for listening to music for like half an hour on my way to college. Now the interesting thing...the phone crashes after like half an hour of usage time, and that's usualy at over 90% of baterry, or just over 80%.
Nevermind, the thing is, after it crashes, there is no way you can turn it back on, even though it had, let's say, 87% of battery power. When I try to turn it back on, the apple logo comes out like usual and fades away after a short while. If I continue trying it's gonna be the same thing, or even it's gonna show that red baterry bar telling me that I have to plug the phone to charge. And when I do that, the phone turns back on and it shows that it has like 60% of battery power(***?) or even less than 5%, it depends on the mood of my iPhone -.-
And if somehow I manage to turn on the phone without plugging it in, when I go to check the usage stats, it says "Usage time will be shown after iPhone is fully charged"
So, my question is, what should I do? Is it the battery? Should I get a new one, or maybe should I update my iOS?
I just want to mention that if I update my iOS, I HAVE to unlock the phone if I wanna use it here.
Sorry if I took you a lot of time explainig my problem.
    Any help will be appreciated

These are signs of faulty battery. Battery replacement at Apple Store is $80, and you will get perfect working iPhone 4 same as your current iPhone, except it will be working. Make Genius Reservation and take to Apple. Or have battery replaced elsewhere.

  • Iphone crashes and 10.6.3

following up some application crashes i noticeed that my log folder contains reports of 94 iphone crashes from 10.6.2 and 10.6.3.
I have never noticed any problems and did not see an onscreen report for any of these "crashes".
does anyone know what this means.? my iphone works perfectly.

First, your iPhone is NOT running iOS 10.6.3.
Second, basic troubleshooting steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.  Have you been through ALL these troubleshooting steps?

  • Iphone froze and deleted all apps!!

My iphone was in the process of upgrading 4 apps. It froze while I was playing a game and after 10 mins, finally got it to turn off and on. My email and pics are still there but everything else is gone. Help!!!

  • Quicktime crashed and deleted my video file??

I trimmed a clip with quicktime and tried to iMessage it. Quicktime crashed and took the file off my camera. How do i retrieve it?

This happened to me as well. Trimming in Quicktime Player, hit Share to upload to Vimeo and Quicktime Player crashes with a "can't create file" message. After force-quitting, I notice that the ORIGINAL file (that had been captured with Blackmagic Design Media Express) has been DELETED!! This is a major bug. I spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out where one of my video files had gone and ended up re-capturing it only to have this happen again.

  • Iphone crashed and will not start up.

My phone crashed and now when I try to start it the Apple start-up screen comes up but then goes away and the phone does not start-up. I have tried reseting about a dozen times.

Connect it to iTunes and do a Restore per manual.
You may need to put it in the DFU mode per this site:

  • Iphone crashed and wont restart

i was updating my i phone o/s when it crashed and now my phone wont start or do anything ?

have you tried the hard reset you described? that means holdin power and home button for several seconds (10-20). that should probably do the trick.
if not: does itunes detect the phone?
