IPhone create new calendar

Hi Guys, I have searched the forums and am yet to find this question answered.
(First off a friend at work has multiple calendars on his phone and can select which one he wants to sync from iTunes....he has no idea how he did it in the first place).
Here is my situation:
I have two computers 1x at work (Vista, Outlook 2007) and 1x at home (XP Pro, Outlook 2003)
Right now I have setup my home computer to sync everything movies, music, apps, (contacts and calendar (synced with outlook 2003))
I want to sync my work Calendar into a new calendar (so I can see when I have meetings through out the day).
Easy just sync it right? but I don't want all my home calendar entries in my work computer and vice versa and the only option I get in itunes
What I actually want is two seperate calendars to sync with one for work and one for home, I have found absolutely no information on how to setup a 2nd calendar on the iphone.
What I have done so far:
1. Lots of research with no results, I read allot of posts talking about how to get rid of the multiple calendars but none on how to create them.
2. I created a new pop account on the iphone, shot and email and out to make sure it functional.
When I go into iTunes I get an option to select only one calendar to sync with, how to I get a 2nd one please help….
multiple calendars is the best thing since slice bread just need to be able to use it.
Thank you.

Hello,
I think what you need to do is create a second empty calendar on your home computer. Call it WORK. When you sync your phone it should add that calendar to the phone (everything is driven by Outlook, not the phone).
Once you have the second calendar created on your phone then you should be able to select the WORK calendar on the phone to sync with the calendar on your work computer. I don't think the 2007 vs 2003 should be any issue but I may be incorrect.
Then you can sync each machine with the appropriate calendar in the future and also VIEW all calendars on your phone merged into one.
Hope that at least helps a little.

  • Cannot create new Calendar Group in Mountain Lion

I am using a brand new iMac. I didn't use the migration tool-- instead I exported all of my Calendars from Snow Leopard and Imported them via the File menu in the Calendar application in Mountain Lion.
Under the File menu, there is no "New Calendar Group" option. Command-Shift-N results in an error alert sound and no action.
I do not use iCloud for anything other than email-- everything is turned off in System Preferences.
In Calendar, under the Preferences -> Accounts section, I have NO accounts. It is completely blank.
My previous groups from my export/import are there under the "On My Mac" section of the Calendars panel. I can edit them. But I cannot create any new ones.
Any suggestions? Everything on the internet says I need to deactivate my iCloud account calendars... but I don't use them.

Ah, Barney, you are a lifesaver!
Sorry for the late reply, I was away from my computer this weekend.
All of my calendars had been in groups. I moved one of them outside, and TA DA-- "New Calendar Group" appeared.
Thanks so much for the help. I will have to leave 1 calendar outside of a group so I can add as many as I'd like.

  • Can't Subscribe Can't Create New Calendar

    All,
After using iCal with much success (and subscribing to calendars shared in www.icalx.com) suddenly I can't subscribe to any calendar (even those not from icalx) and I can't make a new calendar (even though I only have twelve). Even if I drag an ics file into iCal, it won't make a new calendar!
There's nothing wrong with the calendars from other places, as I tried subscribing to them from another machine.
Whenever I try subscribing or creating a new calendar, nothing happens. Even the progress bar for subscribing doesn't move! When I quit iCal and then restart it, there's a ghost calendar there either called "untitled" if I had previously tried creating a new calendar, or the name of the calendar I tried to drag in (although there is no data), or "Subscribed" but no data if I had previously tried to subscribe to a calendar.
Somebody please help me. I'm working with other people from other time zones and we rely on these things to work.
    Thanks!!

    Hi Benito,
What does it mean when a subscribed calendar is corrupted?
The files iCal uses to store the calendars (.ics files) are text files. (You can look at one by exporting a calendar from iCal and opening the .ics file with a text editor.) When you subscribe to a calendar you are copying the calendar file to your hard drive. If some information is missing in the file, or the data is ordered in the wrong way, this can lead to iCal not functioning properly.
The error could be on the server or your local copy, from what you write it's hard to tell. You could try subscribing to the problem calendar from another machine to see if it has the same problem.
The usual recommendation for a local calendar (one you created) with this problem is to export and then import the calendar. This means the calendar is re-created from scratch. You can't use this solution with a calendar you are subscribed.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can't create new calendar events through Thunderbird

    Hi,
I have Lightning installed and hooked up to two Google Calendars, one for actual events (both work and personal) and one for things like local holidays and week numbers (this is a read-only calendar Google's put together).
My issue is that I can't create a new event on my personal calendar through Thunderbird. I can open the "create new event" dialog box no problem, and fill in all the details, but when I hit "Save and Close" nothing happens - the dialog box stays open, and no event is created.
I can create events in a 'local' calendar (e.g. the blank "Home" calendar that Lightning comes with as a default). I can log into my Google calendar through my browser and create events no problem, but then hitting the "synchronise" button in Thunderbird doesn't make them show up (although syncing the calendar app on my android phone, linked to the same Google Calendar, makes the new events created through the browser show up no problem).
The only other information I can offer is that on the Calendar tab in Thunderbird, on the left of the screen, there's list of the calendars my Thunderbird/Lightning has installed/synchronised: "Home" (a local calendar, basically empty but functioning), "Luke John's Calendar" (Google Calendar, the one I'm having the problem with), and "Week Numbers" (Read-only Google Calendar, I don't know if it's possible to create new events on because it's read only). Next to both "Luke John's Calendar" and "Week Numbers" are little (error?) symbols: black exclamation marks in yellow triangles, which give the rollover text "The Calendar [name] is momentarily not available."
Any suggestions for sorting this out? I'd be very grateful!

  • Error while trying to create new calendar to sync with google calendar

    Hello everybody!
I successfully syncronized my google calendar account with my iCal and everything works fine when I create or delete events.
But when I try to create from iCal a new shared calendar it says "Calendar https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user/ was not found on the server."
Anyone has any idea about how to solve that?

  • Iphone creates new outgoing servers on its own for no apparent reason.

I have an imap account through godaddy and the phone will every so often give me the error message for outgoing emails.  I check settings and for some reason the phone has created a new outgoing server profile and set that as the primary server. Which at that point in time I have to enter my credentials etc and things go back to normal but the old profiles are still listed.  This has happened twice and I don't understand why the phone creates a new outgoing server profile.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

    Hi,
I was trying to create and update the calendar event using [POST] https://outlook.office365.com/api/v1.0/me/events and [PATCH] https://outlook.office365.com/api/v1.0/me/events/<eventId> respectively.

    Hi Sahil,
I was able to make your request work fine against my Office 365 mailbox with 2 changes.
    1. Can you please make sure you are adding header "Content-Type: Application/Json"?
    2. Can you please make sure your end time is AFTER start time?  Looks like there is a typo with your current request as the start time is on 2015-01-06 and end time is on 2015-01-05.
    Hope that helps ...

  • I've lost my iCal calendars and can't create new ones

I've used iCal flawlessly for a long time. Suddenly, though, I noticed that I lost all my indivdual calendars in iCal. I couldn't see any calendar postings in the main calendar until I trashed my pref file from the library and relaunched. Then I would see the individual events created under my "home" calendar, yet I would not see the "home" calendar listed as an option in the left-hand view of calendars. Plus, I now can't create new calendars.
Anybody have any idea what's going on here?

Is this correct: you had multiple calendars; they disappeared from the calendar pane and their events from the main pane; you deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ical.plist; you now have a single calendar (Home) but cannot make more; you can see the events in Home?
Can you add events to Home?
Can you see as many folders in ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/Sources/ as you used to have calendars?
Double-click ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/nodes.plist. Click the black triangle beside the word Root. In the line "List Array ..." how many ordered objects are reported? Does this match your original calendar count?
What have you added/changed/modified recently? Might it have involved any fonts?

  • Why doesn't my iPhone update the calendar in my MacBook Pro?

I keep my calendar in my iPhone, but that calendar doesn't transfer to the calendar in my MacBook.  It used to happen automatically, but it doesn't any more.

    Hello Wepoccnr,
If you are not seeing your calendars syncing up and you are using iCloud, take a look at the articles below to sort it out. Make sure to look at what your default calendar is so that way when creating new calendars that it is going to iCloud and not a different calendar that you may also be syncing with. Another option is to sign out on both devices, keep the data and then sign back in to get it to sync back up.

  • How to get rid of google mail in "new calendar" menu?

    Hi there,
it's not a big problem, but it drives me crazy: month ago I tried google calendar and synced iCal with this. Since then, in my menu for creating new calendars I have two options: local and google mail. Because I don't want to use google calendar anymore, I want to get rid of it in the menu. I tried several things in Preferences and Calendars, but without success. Could anyone help me?
    Thanks
    Klaus

I got it by myself: one just have to delete the cache-files in the directory Calendars - that's it.

  • How do I select a new calendar as a "writable calendar"?

    Thunderbird 24.3.0/Mac OS X Mavericks/Lightning 2.6.4.
I have a calendar set up to sync with an Internet cloud service (not Google; not iCloud). This calendar has worked fine for me for months and I have many calendar events and tasks on this calendar. All of those can be modified and I can create new calendar entries, but I cannot create new tasks.
On the Task window, in the New Task field, I see an error message that says "Please select a writable calendar". But I can't enter anything in that field. I can create a new local calendar and move existing tasks from the current calendar to the newly-created one, but I cannot find a way to create any NEW tasks on the existing calendar or the newly-selected calendar. Is there someplace I can select this new calendar as the default for tasks? It would be even better to keep tasks on the synced calendar, but I'll settle if need be.

Tasks are not covered by any standards of formatting and almost inevitably do not synchronize. Thunderbird/ Lightning does not synchronize tasks with Live or gmail either.
SoGO claim to have it working with their open source tools.

  • Unable to rename calendar/name new calendar "Personal"

    Hello.
I have a calendar that I'd like to rename to "Personal". I'm unable to do it. I can rename calendars to anything else, and I can create new calendars. But the name "Personal" seems to be reserved. Is this by design? is there something I can do to override this?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Close iWeb, delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple. iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, relaunch iWeb and try again. Also repair disk permissions if you haven't done so already.

  • Issues with new calendars and group creation

I am using Calendar Server version 6.3. I can create new calendars however they never show up. The only way I know they are created is using the cscal utility. I was able to view the calendar as the user by putting the calendar name in the URL. However I can only add events to the default calendar.
I can enter information on the group form. However the group does not seem to be created. Is there a way to see what groups exist in the database?
I am not seeing any messages in the logs. The only log that displays anything is the store log and all it reports are standard back-ups.

  • A brand new calendar

I'm a teacher and I would like to make a new calendar for each of my classes.  I want to do it in iCal so that I can do it all online and then print it off.  I have found a way to make different colors on the same calendar for different categories.  But I want a new calendar for every class.

    Hi there famo_sa,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
Mac Basics: Calendar keeps your appointments
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5978
    Create new calendars
By default, OS X includes two calendars in the Calendar app – Work and Home. If  you want to create a new calendar, choose New Calendar from the File menu. Type a name for your calendar in the text field. For example, if you have kids, you might want to create a separate calendar for each one to track their schedules. You can see and control how your calendars appear by clicking the Calendars button.
To change the color or name of a calendar, select it from the calendars list, then choose Edit > Get Info. To remove a calendar and all of its events, right-click or Control-click the calendar's name,  then select Delete from the shortcut menu that appears.

  • Downloading iCal file on iPhone and creating an new calendar to add it under?

I am trying to download an iCal file on my iPhone and add it to my calendar on my phone. I was wondering if I can create a new calendar within my iCloud calendar on my phone and add it to that, instead of it automatically adding to my normal calendar, rather than having to go home an do it on my Mac?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I wrote a little ePub on this subject, it is available at www.sk-america.com/products/
If you are not in the mood for that brief read, all you need to do is set you calendar up on any device and sync them all using iCloud.
But, for $0.99 you can have pictures and text that show you how to do it... (shameless plug, I know, but hey, we all gotta eat...)
If you have difficulty, just email me back [email protected]
