Iphone data recovery from backup file

Hi,
My iphone 5 is damaged, I am forced to switch to Nokia N8 as the stop gap arrangement till iPone is repaired/replaced by the service centre. I have iPhone backup file on my computer. How do I recover data from backup file to restore it to Nokia N8.
Regards

The iTunes backup of an iPhone is stored in a format that is designed only for use in restoring to an iOS device. There are some 3rd party programs that will read and extract that data however. That would get you to the point of being able to see and use the data on your computer at least. I can't help with how you would then get the data to the Nokia but a Nokia forum might. One example of a backup extractor program that is reputable is http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/ but there may be others that are cheaper or free.

  • Data recovery from backup

    Hello.
Could you please let me know the recovery steps of the data volume?
I tested the following steps on my HANA (Rev.18), but I could not recover my data due to the error.
    1. Start HANA studio, right-click on the host name in the 'Navigator' pane, and select 'Backup'.
    2. Go through the backup wizard, and create 'COMPLETE_DATA_BACKUP' files in '/usr/sap/<SID>/HDB00/backup/data'.
    3. Confirm that the 'COMPLETE_DATA_BACKUP_databackup_N_M' files exist in the above directory.
    4. Right-click on the host name in the 'Navigator' pane in HANA Studio, and select 'Stop'.  Select 'Soft' shutdown.
    5. Confirm that the HANA DBMS stops.
    6. Start the 'GNOME Terminal', go to the '/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data' directory, and delete (or rename) the 'mnt00001' directory.
    7. Right-click on the host name in the 'Navigator' pane in HANA Studio, and select 'Recovery'.
    8. Start the recovery with un-checking the 'Recovery of the Log Entries' option.
    9. The data recovery for 'Name Server' stops at 50%, and the following error is shown.
         Recovery of system <SID> failed
The service 'nameserver' at 'NODE:30001' responsible for the volume '1' does crash.
    Thank you,
    -mamoru

    Hello,
still thinking what might be the reason for error and got another idea (but without the recovery log it is just pure guess):
    6. Start the 'GNOME Terminal', go to the '/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data' directory, and delete (or rename) the 'mnt00001' directory.
If you renamed/deleted whole directory - maybe the recovery process was missing the directory and was not able to recreate it... (I had similar issue with log destination when I decided to have it in other than standard destination. Installer was not able to create it and was failing until I created the directory manually.)
However I am still wondering what exactly is mnt00001 directory for...
From SAP HANA Studio it is apparent that:
nameserver (does not have any data file created at specified location) ...is assigned path:
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/hdb00001
    indexserver ...is assigned path
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/hdb00002
    statisticsserver ...is assigned path
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/hdb00003
However nowhere is written what exactly is stored in following directories:
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/hdb00002_backup
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/hdb00003_backup
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/mnt00001/hdb00001
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/mnt00001/hdb00002
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/mnt00001/hdb00003
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/data/mnt00001/hdb00001_backup
Does anyone know? I was not able to find this information.
Similar situation is in log area...

  • Iphone data recovery software.....plz help

Can you tell me that can I get back my contacts using iphone data recovery software

Before you recover contacts from iPhone you are not allowed to connect your iPhone to computer directly, because iTunes will save the recent data automatically. First of all, you should check whether you have the backup files
    iTunes> preferences> devices
All your backup files are listed here.
Then click iTunes>preferences> devices "prevent iPhone from syncing automatically." select OK and close the window after checking" don't sync"
Now you can connect iPhone to PC and make the iPhone data recovery based on you have the backup files.
Click the File menu and select Devices > Restore from Back up.
The method above is based that you have the backup files
And if you are unlucky to have the backup, you may Google iPhone data recovery, paid or free, which offer the trial version and have a try to choose suitable one.
    Hope to help you!

  • IPhone 4 restore from backup loop?

So the other day I accidentally deleted all the texts to my girlfriend. So i read about this on the internet and it told me to back up the iPhone and restore from the backup to get my texts back. So I tried it and after i restored from the created backup, the iPhone was backup to normal, except all my apps and music was missing. So i went to iTunes to sync it to get everything back, when i realised iTunes was back at the "set up as new iphone or restore from backup" screen again. So i clicked restore from backup and selected the backup again and it did its business. Then when it was finished it returned to the "set up as new iphone or restore from backup" screen yet again! This now happens everytime I try restore from the backup. I've put the iPhone into restore mode and resored the 5.0.1 firmeware many times, but when i click on restore from backup, it does the same thing as above. I've made sure iTunes is the latest and run the diagnostics but everything up to date and working. Please help, i do not want to lose my messages or have to set the iPhone up as new.
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks in advance

The iPhone Backup Extractor extracts data from iPhone backups. As such, so long as the last backup was taken before the data was deleted, it will recover your information automatically. However, if the data was deleted before your backup was taken, it makes sense that the backup won't contain your data. Fortunately, Apple don't purge deleted data from their database files, so it is often possible to recover some deleted SMS, note and contact data. By extracting the SQLite databases from your backup in Expert mode, and opening them in Notepad, you should see fragments of any data that has been deleted. This isn't the easiest way to recover data, and reassembling contact information isn't easy, but it's better than losing the data altogether!

  • How do I restore iTunes library from Backup files on External Hard Drive?

How do I restore iTunes library from Backup files on External Hard Drive and keep the new iTunes library on the External Hard Drive. I have all the media and playlist and .xml .itl files, just want the iTunes to recognise the content.
I backedup my iTunes content by dragging to External Hard Drive. Formatted and reinstalled OS. My iTunes content is so large, that I wish for the Library and content to remain on the External Hard Drive. I have all the music files and playlists, I just cannot get the iTunes application to display all the content. Hoping to Not have to drag and drop all the content to be recopied into new iTunes organised files.
Troubleshooting this by researching other conversations on the web, I have come stuck for a solution. One Troubleshoot told me to hold down the Command key and then lauch iTunes and a dialogue box will appear to Choose a new library, however when I try this, no Dialogue box appear to give me the option!?

It sometimes has that funny switch symbol on it too.

  • Can I get a data recovery from Apple if my iMac was in the hard drive replacement programme and I wasn't notified about it?

Basically my iMac just crashed and I searched on Google for replacing my hard drive and came across the iMac 1TB Seagate Hard Drive Replacement Program at http://www.apple.com/support/imac-harddrive/
Which is that Apple is asking all 2009 - 2011 iMac users to return their iMac for a free hard drive replacement because it currently has a fault in it. After entering in my serial number, I see that my iMac is elegible for a replacement.
I did register my iMac with Apple, but I didn't receive any email about this program and I lost all my recent data because of the faulty hard drive. I never had an issue before with the drive so this just happened out of the blue.
Is it possible to get a free data recovery from Apple for this? I find that it was a lack of communication that I lost most of my data.

I completely understand that it's my responsibility to back up my data but I have it set to every 2nd month, not on a weekly or daily basis to back up the data.
Apple might not be in data recovery business but could they not acquire a third party to do this?
    This is what happened:
It was on sleep overnight and when I tried waking it, it was lagging badly. So I shut it down and restarted it. I phoned into techincal support to find out whats wrong, but they were giving me advice to reset the params etc. But i think it made it worse because it didnt want to get passed the white start up screen.
So I phoned back to ask if it's a usual issue with my version of iMac and the man replied that it isn't common and that I should run the disk utility to check the hard drives health.
I installed Mountain Lion on a USB and started the disk utility. Then it highlighted in red that it's a hardware fault and cannot be repaired by the disk utility. Therefore the hard drive has a serious fault with it.
That's when I Google'd for a replacement drive and came across the program. The techincal guy didn't even tell me about it or anything.
If I knew about this sooner, I would have taken it in for a replacement.

  • Data loading from flat file to cube using bw3.5

    Hi Experts,
Kindly give  me the detailed steps with screens  about Data loading from flat file to cube using bw3.5
           ...............Please

    Hi ,
    Procedure
You are in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the DataSource tree.
           1.      Select the application components in which you want to create the DataSource and choose Create DataSource.
           2.      On the next screen, enter a technical name for the DataSource, select the type of DataSource and choose Copy.
    The DataSource maintenance screen appears.
           3.      Go to the General tab page.
                                a.      Enter descriptions for the DataSource (short, medium, long).
                                b.      As required, specify whether the DataSource builds an initial non-cumulative and can return duplicate data records within a request.
                                c.      Specify whether you want to generate the PSA for the DataSource in the character format. If the PSA is not typed it is not generated in a typed structure but is generated with character-like fields of type CHAR only.
Use this option if conversion during loading causes problems, for example, because there is no appropriate conversion routine, or if the source cannot guarantee that data is loaded with the correct data type.
In this case, after you have activated the DataSource you can load data into the PSA and correct it there.
           4.      Go to the Extraction tab page.
                                a.      Define the delta process for the DataSource.
                                b.      Specify whether you want the DataSource to support direct access to data.
                                c.      Real-time data acquisition is not supported for data transfer from files.
                                d.      Select the adapter for the data transfer. You can load text files or binary files from your local work station or from the application server.
Text-type files only contain characters that can be displayed and read as text. CSV and ASCII files are examples of text files. For CSV files you have to specify a character that separates the individual field values. In BI, you have to specify this separator character and an escape character which specifies this character as a component of the value if required. After specifying these characters, you have to use them in the file. ASCII files contain data in a specified length. The defined field length in the file must be the same as the assigned field in BI.
Binary files contain data in the form of Bytes. A file of this type can contain any type of Byte value, including Bytes that cannot be displayed or read as text. In this case, the field values in the file have to be the same as the internal format of the assigned field in BI.
Choose Properties if you want to display the general adapter properties.
                                e.      Select the path to the file that you want to load or enter the name of the file directly, for example C:/Daten/US/Kosten97.csv.
You can also create a routine that determines the name of your file. If you do not create a routine to determine the name of the file, the system reads the file name directly from the File Name field.
                                  f.      Depending on the adapter and the file to be loaded, make further settings.
    ■       For binary files:
Specify the character record settings for the data that you want to transfer.
    ■       Text-type files:
Specify how many rows in your file are header rows and can therefore be ignored when the data is transferred.
Specify the character record settings for the data that you want to transfer.
    For ASCII files:
If you are loading data from an ASCII file, the data is requested with a fixed data record length.
    For CSV files:
If you are loading data from an Excel CSV file, specify the data separator and the escape character.
Specify the separator that your file uses to divide the fields in the Data Separator field.
If the data separator character is a part of the value, the file indicates this by enclosing the value in particular start and end characters. Enter these start and end characters in the Escape Charactersfield.
You chose the; character as the data separator. However, your file contains the value 12;45 for a field. If you set u201C as the escape character, the value in the file must be u201C12;45u201D so that 12;45 is loaded into BI. The complete value that you want to transfer has to be enclosed by the escape characters.
If the escape characters do not enclose the value but are used within the value, the system interprets the escape characters as a normal part of the value. If you have specified u201C as the escape character, the value 12u201D45 is transferred as 12u201D45 and 12u201D45u201D is transferred as 12u201D45u201D.
In a text editor (for example, Notepad) check the data separator and the escape character currently being used in the file. These depend on the country version of the file you used.
Note that if you do not specify an escape character, the space character is interpreted as the escape character. We recommend that you use a different character as the escape character.
If you select the Hex indicator, you can specify the data separator and the escape character in hexadecimal format. When you enter a character for the data separator and the escape character, these are displayed as hexadecimal code after the entries have been checked. A two character entry for a data separator or an escape sign is always interpreted as a hexadecimal entry.
                                g.      Make the settings for the number format (thousand separator and character used to represent a decimal point), as required.
                                h.      Make the settings for currency conversion, as required.
                                  i.      Make any further settings that are dependent on your selection, as required.
           5.      Go to the Proposal tab page.
This tab page is only relevant for CSV files. For files in different formats, define the field list on the Fields tab page.
Here you create a proposal for the field list of the DataSource based on the sample data from your CSV file.
                                a.      Specify the number of data records that you want to load and choose Upload Sample Data.
The data is displayed in the upper area of the tab page in the format of your file.
The system displays the proposal for the field list in the lower area of the tab page.
                                b.      In the table of proposed fields, use Copy to Field List to select the fields you want to copy to the field list of the DataSource. All fields are selected by default.
           6.      Go to the Fields tab page.
Here you edit the fields that you transferred to the field list of the DataSource from the Proposal tab page. If you did not transfer the field list from a proposal, you can define the fields of the DataSource here.
                                a.      To define a field, choose Insert Row and specify a field name.
                                b.      Under Transfer, specify the decision-relevant DataSource fields that you want to be available for extraction and transferred to BI.
                                c.      Instead of generating a proposal for the field list, you can enter InfoObjects to define the fields of the DataSource. Under Template InfoObject, specify InfoObjects for the fields in BI. This allows you to transfer the technical properties of the InfoObjects into the DataSource field.
Entering InfoObjects here does not equate to assigning them to DataSource fields. Assignments are made in the transformation. When you define the transformation, the system proposes the InfoObjects you entered here as InfoObjects that you might want to assign to a field.
                                d.      Change the data type of the field if required.
                                e.      Specify the key fields of the DataSource.
These fields are generated as a secondary index in the PSA. This is important in ensuring good performance for data transfer process selections, in particular with semantic grouping.
                                  f.      Specify whether lowercase is supported.
                                g.      Specify whether the source provides the data in the internal or external format.
                                h.      If you choose the external format, ensure that the output length of the field (external length) is correct. Change the entries, as required.
                                  i.      If required, specify a conversion routine that converts data from an external format into an internal format.
                                  j.      Select the fields that you want to be able to set selection criteria for when scheduling a data request using an InfoPackage. Data for this type of field is transferred in accordance with the selection criteria specified in the InfoPackage.
                                k.      Choose the selection options (such as EQ, BT) that you want to be available for selection in the InfoPackage.
                                  l.      Under Field Type, specify whether the data to be selected is language-dependent or time-dependent, as required.
           7.      Check, save and activate the DataSource.
           8.      Go to the Preview tab page.
If you select Read Preview Data, the number of data records you specified in your field selection is displayed in a preview.
This function allows you to check whether the data formats and data are correct.

    Hello fido164,
To get your contact database from the G4 to the MacBook, you can try the following:
On the G4, open Address Book and:
For 10.4.x - choose Backup Address Book from the File Menu
For 10.5.x - choose Export > Address Book Archive from the File Menu
Save the resulting file to your Desktop.
Right-click or Control-click the file and:
For 10.4.x - choose Create Archive of xxxxxxxxx
For 10.5.x - choose Compress xxxxxxxxxx
Move the resulting zip file to the MacBook via CD, thumbdrive, external HD, etc.
Decompress the file on the Desktop of the MacBook (this will transfer ownership of the file to the User on the MacBook.
Open Address Book and choose Import > Address Book Archive -- this will import the contact data into Address Book.
You can find some useful information for backing up Address Book here:

well, it might be possible but it won't be in any form that you can retrieve automatically. so your first priority should be to get your computer to boot and after what you can start worrying about getting your data from an incomplete TM backup. I've done that it the past and it works sometimes but it really depends on the situation. I had to do it from terminal too as it didn't work from finder.
but it need not be that you lost all data on the main drive. boot from the SL install dvd and see if disk utility sees the drive. if so, repair the drive and try booting from it. if you have disk warrior it might help too if disk utility can not fix some errors.
