IPhone defaults to iMessage in group containing android user

Since upgrading to iOS 8 and above, when sending a group message to a 4 iPhones and 1 Android, the message defaults to an iMessage. As a result, the android user never gets the message. We have been using the same thread for over a year and the problem is only recently been happening. We have deleted the group and started a new group, but once an iPhone user responds to the group, it automatically switches to iMessage and the android user is on

Apple support, I need support on this. I spent over 4 hours on the phone with AT&T and Apple today, and nobody seems to know how to fix it. It is a minor annoyance with the family group not working and I miss dinner, however it becomes a major inconvenience when something at work gets missed and I get officially disciplined as a result. I don't know how to get Apple's attention on this. It seems that the thousands of people having this problem would get them to look at their code and realize that the switch, during an established group conversation, to iMessage might be a problem for non-Apple consumers. From an outsider's "conspiracy theory" model, this seems to me to be an executive decision on the part of Apple to get a few more people to purchase their devices.

  • Adding iPhone contact and  it shows up as Android user on texts- how to fix this

I have a new iPhone 6 and just added a new contact - who has an iPhone too -   after adding it - I tried to  send a text to them and it showed up as a Text not an iMessage ---  I looked to make sure that I put his phone number in as an iPhone and just mobile. It is in as an iPhone --
This means I cannot text from my MacBook Pro or iPad  -  and yet he has an iPhone ---    are there certain carriers that don't play well with Apple or is this something I am doing wrong .
Please help  -  this is the second contact that is showing up this way...
I also have a tenant that I text to and they changed carriers but have the same phone.   I think they are now with T-Mobile.   And when I open the text messages to and from them   Some where sent in Blue as iMessages and the newer ones are all in green and sent as SMS text messages -- I not longer can send the  text from my Mac Book Pro.
Please please help me.    I am using current operating systems on all devices and all devices are new this year.
    What is going on?

    Hey Dgnstl,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iMessage. To troubleshoot these issues, see the following resource for helpful steps:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
    1. Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
    3. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
    4. iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    5. Restart your device.
    6. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
    1. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
    2. Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
    3. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    4. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
    5. Back up and restore your device as new.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Which group is a user member of ?

    Hi
I am using Iplanet 5.1. I have searched almost everywhere
for a solution for this :
How du you see which groups a user is member of ?
Hope one of you have the solution
    Vh.
    Finn

Dynamic group is not a group (I mean entry containing list of members) but an entry containing one ldap filter.
e.g. Mygroup (dynamic group) "contains" all users in Tokyo. ldap filter is (l=tokyo).
That's it. No member. Nothing but ldap filter.
As a result, if you want ot check ALL groups user belongs to, you will have to:
    1 - retrieve user's DN.
2 - search all groups where uniquemember=[DN you retrieved]
3 - retrieve all ldap filters describing dynamic groups.
4 - check for each of them, if filter applies to user's entry. This can be done by either building the static group matching dynamic description and then compare uniquemember (can be VERY heavy) or by comparing filter against user's entry. Is location (l) = tokyo for this user ?
As you may understand, managing dynamic groups is not compatible with your request that is to retrieve all groups user belongs to. This is why - I suppose - version 5.x brings "roles". With roles, this information is stored within user's entry. This is easier for you. On the other hand, this is heavier if your goal is to retrieve all members of a given role. Nothing is perfect.
You do have to understand your goal and how you will manage it before deciding if you will use static groups, dynamic groups or roles (or most likelly, all of these features).
    All have pros and cons.

  • TS4268 One of my contacts had an IPhone and we iMessage successful but now he switched to an android and now he can't receive my messages. He still has an iPod that receives them. How can I get my text changed to regular text instead iMessage? Thanks

One of my contacts had an iPhone and we iMessage fine. Now he switched to a samsung galaxy note III and I need to switch his contact from iMessage so he can receive my text. He still has an iPod so iMessage still works for that but will that be effected by changing for android? How do I make the change? Thanks

It isn't your issue, it is his. He needs to make sure he has turned of iMessage and removed his number from the iMessage database. If he does not still have the device, he needs to contact Apple Care to take care of it.

  • HT3529 I had a iphone 4s with imessage activated, I switched to android and now I can still text other people with iphones but they can't text me. What can I do?

I Had an iphone 4s with imessage activated,  I switched to an android and now I can't recieve texts from iphones that have imessage turned on. What can i do?

iMessage works by linking your Apple ID with your phone number
When you send and receive messages to and from other iPhone users who’ve also got iMessage activated, they’re sent and delivered over the internet as iMessages rather than as SMS
Non-Apple phones can’t receive iMessages so if you no longer use an iPhone, you need to deactivate it. This lets iPhones know to send you messages via SMS instead
If you’ve got access to your iPhone
Ensure your phone is connected to the internet (3G or Wi-Fi) so that the changes will sync with your Apple ID.
    Go into ‘Settings’.
    Tap ‘Messages’.
For ‘iMessage’, move the slider to ‘Off’.
If you don’t have access to your iPhone
    Go to supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do.
Log in with your Apple ID and password.
Select the product you need to de-register (your iPhone, for example).
    Click ‘Unregister’.
You’ll see the message ‘Are you sure you want to unregister and delete this product?’ – Click ‘Unregister’ again.

  • Why can't I be in a group chat with an android user?

I have the iphone 5 and I am not able to participant in group chats if there is an android user involved. I will not even see the messages that are sent. For example, there is a group chat with another iphone 5 user, an iphone 4s user, and an android user. I am in the chat, as other parties can see my number, but I do not receive any texts from the group.

Because you are using lightroom, whether cs5 supports that camera model or not is irrelevent, unless you open or place the raw file itself into photoshop.
Lightroom does not send a raw file, it sends a tiff or psd (Jpg is also an option if you use a secondary editor) file to photoshop. Odds are greater that lightroom 4 does not support your camera.
Adobe has a list of camera models that each version of lightroom and camera raw support. It will tell you whether you are up to date, need to do an update. If they are not an option then you can use the dng converter or purchase a newer version of lightroom.

  • Using iMessage with android user possible ?

Does an android user can communcate with le on iMessage even if he does not have an iphone ?
Does he have to download an "iMessage" app or something ? Does he need an app iD ? Please explain .

No. The iMessage service works between Apple devices, not crapdroid. You can send SMS messages to this user from their phone, or they can get an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad.

  • HT3529 IMessage and Group Message question

with iphone 4S if I turn off iMessage and group message and someone sends a message to me and other people, will my reply "reply all" to everyone the message was sent to? Or is it only that when I send to multiple people their responses are only sent to me?

You can send a message to multiple recipients using SMS, MMS, and iMessage.
Group messaging allows you to send messages to multiple people and have any responses delivered to everyone in the group. Group messaging works with iMessage and MMS.
If you send a message to multiple recipients without group messaging in use by the sender and all recipients, an individual message will go to each recipient using either SMS or MMS. Responses to these messages will be delivered only to the original sender in seperate messaging threads.

  • Iphone wont send imessage

I started a conversation with a friend in sms (she had android at the time), now she's switched to Iphone, and I would like to send imessage.
My ipad sends iM to her, and she sends iM to me (both shows up on iphone as well as pad).
But my iphone will only send sms to her.
It seems like my iphone is "locked" to sending sms, and won't send imessage even when I turn off the "send sms when imessage not available" option.
It seems strange that the iphone doesn't detect the possibility to send imessage. Can anyone help?
Since my iphone recives her imessages and identify them correctly as imessage and the same contact information is in both my iphone (which only sends sms) and my ipad (that sends imessage without a hitch - though it is wifi only, so it cant send sms), it should be possible for my iphone to respond with imessage to her iM.
    Would appreciate help

  • Is there a good texting app for a Macbook air that will sync with my iPhone and iPad iMessage and SMS?

is there a good texting app for a Macbook air that will sync with my iPhone and iPad iMessage and SMS?

    Hey bishopcheen,
Great question! Apple has announced that these features are coming in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. For more information, check out the “Messages” section of this page:
    Apple - OS X Yosemite - Apps
    http://www.apple.com/osx/preview/apps/
Messages gives you so many ways to start a conversation. When your iPhone is nearby, you can send a text message from your Mac to groups of friends, even if they use SMS. Or send a photo of your epic karaoke birthday party, then follow it up with a Soundbite audio clip of your encore performance. With Messages, it’s not just what you say, it’s however you want to say it.
Now every message on your iPhone appears on your Mac.
Messages on your Mac has always been a great way to stay in touch. But friends without iMessage couldn’t be part of the conversation. Well, now they can be. All the SMS and MMS messages you receive on your iPhone now appear on your Mac. So you can text any friend without picking up your iPhone. And the conversation stays up to date across all your devices.
iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are coming this fall. I hope you are as excited as I am!
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I changed my sim on my iPhone n reconfigured iMessage, it configured with my number but when i sign in with my apple id it says username/password is wrong while in all other things like FaceTime, App Store it worked with the same id and password

i changed my sim on my iPhone n reconfigured iMessage, it configured with my number but when i sign in with my apple id it says username/password is wrong while in all other things like FaceTime, App Store it worked with the same id and password..
can anyone help me to solve this issue

i just opened my ipad, started my apple account/I.D. and realized I put the wrong e mail. I was having trouble correcting my I.D on the Ipad so I went to my laptop and make the proper changes/slash e mail address I wanted for my apple ID. I got back to my ipad and try to download an app I can't because I have to sign in my apple account and I can't because it still has the irrelivant I.D/email address..
So, i did what you said.. went to setting>app store> tapped on my e mail.. it asked me to sign in (with my invalid emails address showing). I signed in with the password I had created. It said "incorrect".. I went to reset password. I reset password, tried to sign in and it says again "unvalid password".. this is getting irritating.  I have been asking and no one knows what to do.

It's because you are both using the same iTunes Library on your computer and you are both using the same Apple ID on each phone.
One of you must start a new computer user account and get a new Apple ID. Then start operating on the ocmputer from the new account. He/she will also need to restore their phone from the new account and using the new Apple ID. This way everything on each of your phones will remain separate.

  • Is there a way to send text messages on an iPhone instead of iMessages?

My mom and I both have iPhones. My mom has a data plan while I don't, meaning my iPhone is Wi-Fi only while hers isn't. Whenever my mom tries to send me a text it will only send it as an iMessage text, and not an SMS text. Since my iPhone is Wi-Fi only I can only receive her messages if my phone is connected to Wi-Fi. This problem could easily be fixed if my mom just turns off iMessage in the settings, but she would have to constantly turn her iMessage on and off, just so she can send me a text. This has caused many problems because my mom would send me an important message, only to not have it read by me because I can't get her iMessage text without Wi-Fi. Is there a way for her to send me only SMS texts to my iPhone, even if iMessage is still turned on in her settings?

I don't think this works. Even if I turn off iMessage on my iPhone, anyone who has iMessage turned on on their phone will automatically send an iMessage text. For example the picture shows what will show up on a device that has iMessage turned on, when they're about to send a message. As you can see there's an "iMessage" sign in the text box. Wether or not iMessage is turned off on my phone, it doesn't matter to the other device which doesn't know that. It's not like turning off iMessage on my phone will automatically send a message to the other phone saying iMessage is turned off, so they can now start sending SMS texts. So basically, turning off iMessage on my phone does absolutely nothing. Sorry if this was a little confusing.

  • Everytime I try to update to iOS5 on my iPhone 4 I get an error containing 0xE while it is trying to backup data from the iPhone.  I have done everything suggested in Apple support.  How can I upgrade to iOS5 without losing all the data on my phone?

Everytime I try to update to iOS5 on my iPhone 4 I get an error containing 0xE while it is backing up data from the iPhone before installing the new operating system.  I have done everything suggested in Apple support with no success.  I still get the error everytime (about 5 minutes into backing up iPhone data).  How can I upgrade to iOS5 without losing all the data on my iPhone (the error message says that if I continue I will lose all data on the phone)?  If I have already synced the phone before upgrading the OS, would I be able to restore my data after installing the new OS by syncing after the OS upgrade is complete?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

  • The default value of purchasing group in "carry out Sourcing "

    Dear , expert :
         I work in SRM7.0 ,ECS!
I have two questions about the screen of    "carry out Sourcing ":
1,How can set the default value of purchasing group ?Now the default is empty .
2.The purchaser can select many purchaser group here ,I want to know what controls this .in the group responsibility ?
    Thanks!

    Hi Alex
If there are more purchase group responsible for one product category. the end user (requestor) can select which purchase group before he order a cart.
so that sc goes to respective purchaser cockpit  in the sc ?
if you have only one purchase group responsible . no probem
    or
    redistribute workload
you can distribute your cart to another purchaser
for eg. initailly ALEX is purchase group in the sc.
now you can transfer MASA purchase group  via redistribution workload
so now the sc shows in the MASA cockpit with new purchase group as MASA instead of ALEX purchase group name
